Each and every time I read a new release (or re-release) from Lexi Blake I am reminded of why I’m so obsessed with her work. Siren in Waiting hit all my Lexi Blake buttons and gave me a satisfying love story and a tale of redemption in one.
Siren in Waiting is a little friends-to-lovers, a little enemies-to-lovers(ish), and a lot about the characters learning who they were. I loved Trev and Beth together, he gave her so much self-confidence, and she gave him more strength than he knew he had. Bo, while he eventually became a really great guy, was more elusive to me. I think he rounded out their relationship nicely, but I couldn’t put my finger on why.
I was so happy to see Ms. Blake touch on addiction in this novel. I thought she treated it respectfully and honestly. I loved getting to see Trev’s inner struggles, and how he redirected and battled his impulses on a minute-by-minute basis.
The plot of Siren in Waiting, while a little predictable, was an exciting ride. I was sure who was at the root of what was going on but not completely sure why, for most of the book. Ms. Blake never tried to hide who the ‘bad guy’ was in this book, though, so I think that was by design. I loved how she brought the book full circle. It was a brilliant literary device and served to highlight one character’s fortitude.
Siren in Waiting is the fifth book in Lexi Blake’s Texas Sirens series. These books are interconnected standalones and do not need to be read in order. This book was previously released under the penname Sophie Oak and has been re-released as a second edition with new content. Lexi Blake’s series are interconnected, and we get to see some favorites from other series in this novel. Siren in Waiting is written in third-person limited perspective, narrated by Trev, Bethany, and Bo.
Lexi Blake continually delivers intriguing stories with fabulous characters and sweeping love stories. I love how she uses suspense and intrigue to draw her characters together and make them grow. I also appreciate that her characters are flawed, her women aren’t all stick-thin, and each book delivers a unique relationship dynamic.
5 Stars
You will not want to put this book down until you finish and guaranteed you will at some point feel the draw to read it over and over. Why you may ask? Because Ms. Blake has created a story full of “real” people. What do I mean? Well we have a hero who has fallen from grace, that had to hit rock bottom before truly discovering who he was, what he was meant to do, where he was meant to do it, and who was meant to travel the road with him. Trevor McNamara faces struggles that there is a good chance someone you know and care about faces daily. Beth “Mouse” could be a girl you went to school with but now maybe you barely remember her. Why? Because she was quiet, kept to herself, never quite fit in and had too many responsibilities in her life to worry about keeping up with the popular things at school. Lastly, we have Bo, the boy who wanted to blend in and still does as a man. He doesn’t want to draw negative attention, he has had to put up with enough negativity in his life at home, not that you would know it. He stands up for what he thinks is right, doesn’t get too attached to people and tries to stay under everyone’s radar. But what Lexi Blake manages to do with this threesome is turn them into something so beautiful, sexy and soul filling. Seeing three people, who separately struggle with their issues and aren’t completely happy, when brought together are full of so much happiness and love that no one can deny they are meant for each other. Of course, nothing is ever easy and other characters will lend a hand helping when things get rough. Prepare for some laughs along the way and a peek into part of the next book’s threesome, as you join this sexy trio as they find their HEA.

Lexi Blake is perfection! I love every book in the Texas Sirens series, but I think this one is my favorite! Lexi Blake is the queen of perfectly written MFM stories and Siren in Waiting is no different! This is more than a love story though – it’s a story of finding your voice and being who you were meant to be!
Siren in Waiting is book 5 in the Texas Sirens Series and I am really enjoying this series!
This time it is Bethany (Mouse) Hobbes, Trev McNamara and Bo O’Malley’s turn. Who would ever call Bethany “Mouse”? Bo that’s who and practically the whole town too. But Trev will have none of it, her name is Bethany! Turns out she is nothing like a mouse! This girl has spirit although she is a submissive. She just doesn’t know it yet.
Trev returns to Deer Run a fallen High School hero. He had made it big in Pro Football. Only to have succumbed to drugs and alcohol. He has been to rehab multiple times and it never worked, so he was fired! He was given one last chance to clean himself up, which he did. Now he is returning to his home town where he meets Bethany. He already knew Bo and Bo wants nothing to do with Trev.
I love this story and Lexi Blake writing as Sophie Oak. This has been a fantastic series. Although I seem to have missed books 2 & 4, which I will have to rectify. Both of those books are now on my Kindle. I am so happy that Lexi Blake is re-releasing these books so that I could discover them! I give Siren in Waiting 4.5 stars.
“I’m your Master, Bethany Hobbes. I’m the center of your world. You’re damn straight the center of mine.”
We are headed back to Deer Run to saddle up with Beth, Bo, and Trev! Siren in Waiting is book five in Lexi Blake’s (writing as Sophie Oak) Texas Sirens series and one of my favorite ménage romances from this author. A character like Bethany “Mouse” Hobbes is really able to speak to a reader like me. I can relate to her on so many levels (except for the ménage part, of course. I WISH, am I right?). She’s this genuine, honest, and loyal soul and the perfect heroine for this story! Bo is as frustrating as they come, but I didn’t love him any less. He eventually got on board and then it was all FEELS from him. Trev is PERFECTION! That’s all I have to say about that man. Just…YUMMY perfection! The dynamic between Trev and Beth was scorching HOT, and then when Bo comes into the picture…I can’t even! It’s sexy. It’s sweet. It’s erotic. It’s romantic with a dash of suspense! I loved it all! If possible, it was even better the second go-round!
This won’t be vanilla, darlin’. I have something inside me. I can dominate you, or I can go and find that bottle that always seems to call to me.”
Riveting, full of emotion, Powerful heartfelt feelings that will imbed within you.
Siren in Waiting really spoke to me as Trev battled his way through a dark time and then rose up from the shadows. The passion and love that Beth gives to not only Trev, but to Bo as well, was perfectly undeniable. It called to, and Lexi wrote her characters so well, so in depth full of detail. To have a heroine who seems weak at first glance but who really is strong in her right mind, loving and caring for not just one man but for two is magical.
This story also brought out the ugly side of my reading habits as I wanted to punch Bryce so many times. I know within a Lexi book there is always a ‘bad’ person, but WOW, I really didn’t like him! I really can’t wait for Shelley’s story and to see her process her journey from everything she has had to endure. It will take a backbone to deal with her and her feistyness… which I am looking forward too.
Trev, Bo and Beth are a touchdown of relationship you don’t want to miss out on!
