I’m one of the most alluring creatures in the world. Dangerous. Beautiful. Powerful.A siren. One of seven princesses of Lacuna. But I wanted more than that, so much more than the trinkets I stowed in my caverns. I wanted my own piece of the world. And I got it. However with that wish came a price, and that price came with secrets. Two of which should never have been able to set foot on where I … been able to set foot on where I reside.

You know from going from never reading fantasy books to reading almost all of the sinister books each one just gets better and better. The way that Hazel writes she hooks you from the very beginning. This dark tale of the little mermaid is just amazing. This story is dark, intense and romantic. The story of Davina and Dagen had my emotions up and down. They have this undeniable hot as sin chemistry. This book had me at the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. Another amazing story by Hazel Grace!!
GAH!! Holy Freakin Under the Sea!! This is probably my absolute FAVORITE if the sinister fairy tales yet!! Yes, my friends it’s that fantastic! I’m talking all the Stars y’all!
So this is the story of Davina, daughter of King Triton, Princess of Lacuna. Davina’s story is a twisted and amazingly angsty and suspenseful take on The Little Mermaid. She’s one of seven daughters of King Triton.
When a mysterious and alluring stranger, Dagen the Blood Axe Viking shows up on her island she quickly captured him and sets out on a quest to serve up revenge and find answers as to who, what, when, where, why, and how he came to be there. The chemistry between them was off the charts hot. It was anger filled and sexually charged and it was EVERYTHING!!
Dagen was waiting for his chance to escape and serve up some revenge on Davina and her sisters himself. Sent on a mission to the island by his father he began to question everything. He finds himself conflicted when he wants to own her body as much as he wants to harm it. He is brute and gorgeous and all man. I love the dirty talking, manly Viking that he is. Then we see a soft side of him at times when he’s with Davina, this protective side comes out. Good gracious it’s so freakin hot.
There are so many secondary characters in this book that add so much to this story. It literally keeps this story flowing so fast and there isn’t a moment that I wasn’t on the edge of my seat excited and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. Then Hazel Grace completely obliterated my heart for a minute there and I was left a devastated crying mess. Thankfully she put me back together in the end. This is a must read for those who are fans of the fantasy romance genre. This is such and amazing “re-twisted-telling”! I cannot give it enough stars or recommend it enough.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book.

Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! After I stopped breathing and cried several times, I got my HEA I was hoping for and it was Perfect!!
4.5 stars
This is the first book I have read by the author and for a first attempt at penning this type of book, she did an amazing job. It reads like a dark retelling of the Little Mermaid that packs a punch while layering in the mythological sirens and their propensity to lure travelers with their beautiful song. Davina is the youngest of her sisters and she has done a lot to keep herself and her sisters safe on their veiled island but somehow, the safeguards that were put in place to protect them is being breached. Dagen is a Viking who was tasked by his father to go to the island to recover a precious artifact. Unfortunately, he is captured and has to figure out a way to escape but the sirens are determined to ascertain his true purpose. As the time passes, the relationship between Dagen and Davina morphs into something neither one expected. This is one raw, engaging read that will take the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions. This is one nice addition to the Sinister Fairy Tales Series. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Davina is one of the seven princesses of Lacuna and a mermaid. She traded her voice to the sea witch in order to have their island be invisible to all but those who have the gift. Daegen ends up on the island but realizes he shouldn’t be able to see it. Davina has him totally wrapped in her spell. The other man on the island is Tobias and he shouldn’t be there either. The relationship between the three of them is interesting and keeps you reading. A good retelling of The Little Mermaid but so different.
Beautiful dark retelling story of The Little Mermaid, I loved all the twist the author did to the story. Davina’s character is amazing she takes over Dagen and Tobias, these Sinister Fairytale Collection is addicting. I can’t wait for more, absolutely great new dark twisted.
A very thought provoking story
This is a new-to-me author, but I’m glad that I took a chance on reading Allure. The setting is somewhat middle ages, possibly in a dystopian Earth future or based on some other planet. I found it difficult to place in a sub-genre or trope, though it felt more fantasy than paranormal.
I enjoyed the story, finding the plot easy to follow and liking the main characters. Whilst the idea of the heroine (or hero) being an ‘outsider’ is not new the world the author created, along with the detail of the heroine’s resistance to allure and subsequent issues, made this feel quite an unusual read. The writing is good, the story entertaining and the relationship between Cassian and Inara ultimately being very believable.
It may have been me, but at the beginning the story did feel a little directionless. I appreciated that the author didn’t do a huge information dump to world build, but I did find myself waiting for something to happen. Personally I would have liked this time to have been spent building the connection between Inara and Cassian. I’m not a fan of insta-anything, so the fact that their physical relationship went from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye felt a little jarring.
I quite liked that the book didn’t portray virginity as a feminine virtue BUT how this juxtaposed with women being very much the voiceless submissive in any relationship perhaps could have done with being elaborated on a little more. Some really innovative world building but it just needed developing/expanding on a little more to help me understand why sex was ok but then they had to be SO submissive.
There are some quite deep messages within this book around how we judge others and how it is easy to abuse power, and as a result abuse those who are weaker than us. Cassian and Inara are both very different to the norm, but it is easier for Cassian given the patriarchal nature of their society. I loved that he didn’t want to change Inara in any way but that he wanted to forge a partnership with her, you could genuinely sense his respect for Inara.
*First time reading author
** Part of the Sinister Fairytales Collection
Siren is a slow burn romance story that took me a bit to get into. But if you stick with it, I swear you will fall in love with every character. The seven sisters are beautiful, secure, and independent in their own right. The men in the story are not the “main story.” They are there to become the story. I loved that.
This story will make you feel every emotion you have to shed tears. Indeed an incredible account!
4.5 stars!
Another great story added to The Sinister Fairy Tales collection. This was a angsty retelling of one of my favorite fairytales, The Little Mermaid. It was sexy, fun and twisted, just how I prefer my fairytales.
4,5 stars
I’m not gonna lie, but I was a bit scared of reading this book. There is a long time I don’t dive in a new series of fairy tales or fantasy books, and I honestly don’t know exactly what made me choose this one. I think this dark scenario of the little mermaid just put my curiosity on alert. And I just closed the book right now and decided to write about it because I don’t want to miss this I’m feeling right now. I finished this book feeling so so so happy that this story excelled my expectations. It was just SOOOO GOOD.
I started reading trying to get to know that world and just took me a few pages to be hocked to it. SIREN has a dark vibe and an intense story that kept me glued to those pages that I literally just drop it when I hitted “the end”.
SIREN is a new, dark and intense story that follow the 7 sisters, granddaughters of Poseidon. Each sister is different from one another and our redhair in this book is named Davina and she was a captivating character, totally badass! I also loved the boys Dagen and Tobias.
SIREN is part of the Sinister Fairy Tale Collection, and although is a retelling of the little mermaid (and I loved the movie) I felt that I didn’t know what would happen or how far would the author go. And let me tell you, halfway through it I tought it could get more darker than I was expecting but everything happened for a reason and it got me tense and way more curious.
Hazel is a new author to me and the genre is not my usual choice. So both was an amazing surprise and I can’t wait to read more books from her. I totally recommend it.
Siren by Hazel Grace is definitely not “the little mermaid” you want your child reading unless that child is over 18! There are elements of the story we all know, but Siren is original. There were parts that dragged for me, but over all it was a fun story. By fun, I don’t mean that you’ll be laughing because you won’t. It was fun seeing the twists and how Davina cared about Tobias and how Dagen intrigued her. Forget what you think you know about the sea and it’s sirens. You’ll be told the “real” story! Happy Reading! Copy was given for review.

This story was absolutely addicting!!!!! My first by Hazel Grace and I was completely drawn in by the story, the descriptions and the characters. The world she created was completely mystifying and it captured me from the very start.
Although I was shocked by some of the things that happened, not all of what I was thinking I wanted. It couldn’t have went any other way and I got a HEA which made it all more delicious for me. I loved Davjna, she was the best with her curiosity and her will. Daren too was quite the character and I was drawn to him for sure. Even all the sisters has me pulled in. They were all so colourful and all so different yet they added such different layers to the story. I definitely recommend this story!!
Wow! So this was my first book by Grace and she blew me away! Siren was Phenomenal! I loved everything about this book! Let me step back and state Siren is fairy tale retelling, the story of the Redheaded mermaid, King Triton’s youngest daughter… and she’s 10 times better than Disney’s Ariel! Siren is part of The Sinister Fairy Tale Collection and it’s EVERYTHING you didn’t know you needed. This book really has it all, it’s intoxicating and so new and unlike anything you could possibly imagine. I wouldn’t call it sinister but it does have dark bits. From the moment I started reading I was so enamored by the world Grace has created. The characters are highly developed and complex, there’s mystery and lore, magic and suspense and it thrilling and emotional. This Love story is not what the reader is prepared for, it will steal your heart and suffocate you in an instant! This is a story I know I will never forget, it’s so unique and captivating. Easily a Must-Read book! I didn’t want to go into detail and give anything away because this book needs to be uncovered. So happy this was my first read to kick off the new year, I don’t think anyone will be disappointed! I definitely fell under the Siren’s spell and this book made my Favourites list! I can’t wait to see it on my shelf, and I’m excited to read more from this author. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Siren is a enchanting and dark retelling of the Little Mermaid. I really loved it! I loved loved Davina and Dagen. Man, those two were scorching!! I also loved the other Princesses of Lacuna. I wish they would all have a book because they are intriguing!! Definitely recommend!
What a great world the author has built. This is my first book by her and I was blown away. Original tale has nothing on this. It’s captivating, dark, enthralling, sexy, and so much more. I realized after that there are stories for the other sisters and now I will be picking those up.
Siren: A Dark Retelling ( Sinister Fairy Tales Series) by Hazel Grace is The Little Mermaid on steroids. Davina as the youngest of 6 sisters and she has had to make hard decisions to keep her and her sisters safe. She loves the island she lives on but in order to keep it veiled from the outside world she has had to not only give up being a Siren but her voice as well. Davina’s best friend Tobias is a pirate and is the only human who can not only see the island but get on the island. She enjoys her sister, her best friend and her island but what she has to give up has puts a strain on her. When a guy shows up on the island, her and her sister are thrown into turmoil. This story had so much going for it that I was all over the place. I was kept on edge by the secrets of the stranger Dagen. The relationship between Davina and Dagen was one of suspicion/ trust, prisoner/ captor, tortured / torturer, enemies and lovers. I was on an emotional rollercoaster that by the end of the story I was crying but ended up with a big smile. I love stories that leave me with those feelings. The sexual tension between the two was really hot to boot. 4.5 stars for me
This was a new twist on the retelling of the little mermaid. Dark tones to the story plot . Good characters connection.
Siren by Hazel Grace is part of the Sinister Fairy Tale collection. This is a dark retailing of The Little Mermaid. Dagen has traveled looking for an item that is to be a treasure of sorts. This leads him to and uncharted island that has mermaids. This was a really good dark fantasy read.
Siren was a dark retelling of the little Mermaid. It was 90% it’s own story with touches of the original. Definitely had a twist of wasn’t expecting. This book did give me feels and may have shed a few tears, I absolutely loved it. Another great story added to the Sinister Fairytale collection

Siren by Hazel Grace certainly tasted the limits of how far dark retelling of a classic fairy tale can be taken. And I would say she has turned the story upside down keeping the essentials very successfully. This is a dark, twisted and deviant fantasy romance with surprisingly relatable characters and intense emotions.
This is a tale of the daughters of Triton, king of the sea. And Davina, the red haired beauty is the central characters. Forget about the sweet and innocent mermaids. Davina and her sisters are Sirens who can lull and distract anyone with their deadly enticing voices. And each of them hold powerful magic. One day a strong, arrogant, fearless and dare devil Viking named Dagon intrudes into their secret island supposed to be hidden by a magical veil. As Davina tries to uncover his secrets to protect her sisters, Dagon gets under her skin. And Dagon is equally curious and enthralled about the red haired enchantress who is silently unravelling the threads of his soul. And then there is Tobias, pirate prince of Black Sea and Davina’s best friend and also someone holding feelings for her. Their life is about to get entangled in unimaginable ways. And we are about to start a complicated journey of life and death.
The story line of this story is the strongest point. I did not see the twists and turns coming at all. The magical creatures, the witch, the sirens, the pirates and every single element clash and collide for power and survival. The first half of the story was a bit slow and you have to keep patience. As the unusual chemistry between Davina and her Viking prisoner builds up, a parallel plot line of deception and betrayal is going on. I loved the intensity of their connection and depth of their feeling. Towards the end, my heart broke into a million pieces because the sacrifice Davina had to make. She is a complex, beautiful, graceful and unforgettable character who has the lethal combination of rage, compassion and fairness. My heart was torn between Tobias and Dagon till very end. Both are devilishly charming, absurdly gorgeous and full of heroic alpha deliciousness. I am amazed by how the author brought the pieces together. My only issue is the slow pace of first half that could have been shortened and the story could be crisper. But once the drama started, I was hooked!
Fantasy or paranormal romance is not something I usually enjoy. Silence by Hazel Grace was a risk I took and I am happy that I did. This was a beautifully written captivating read.
Received ARC for Honest review
Hazel Grace has knocked this one out of the park. With this being her first fantasy book written she did a hell of a job on it. Davina is strong willed and stubborn wanting to protect those she loves no matter the cost including sacrificing pieces of herself. Never did she think two men would change her life in the most unexpected way. This story is so good and that ending…. ugh it was a tragic, messy, beautifully told ending that will definitely be one of my top reads of the year.
