Arlanna gets sent to prison instead of her father under the Sins of the Fathers law.

This was an intriguing and fresh concept from an author I have never read before, but will surely read again. I loved Arianna’s character. She is strong and grounded with a sense of justice that is not overdone. The story was unique, descriptive and one I truly enjoyed.

The author definately has a way with words and the world that she creates. You are drawn in to the story from the start.
What do you get from the beginning of the new series?
Outstanding characters starting with the main female lead Arly who happens to be the daughter of the most powerfull ciminal Ronan Valentine.
Sins of the Father is exactly what the name implies. Basically it is a fae prison which the grown children are sent to serve out the sentences of their fathers in their place. This was a bill promoted and approved by King Regis. Having landed into the prison Arly is confronted with the children of her father’s underlings and their hatred of her. Looks are deceiving and Arly isn’t the pampered Fae Princess everyone keeps calling her. The fae realm has a lot of hidden powers which have laid dormant for years, in fact people feel they are extinct. Throw in some sexy shifters with an exciting plot – and you have this series.
The story is gripping and yes there is a cliffhanger. I cannot wait to read the next in the series Sins of the Mother.
Overall I highly recommend this author .
This was a very clever story line done with the author’s usual flair and throwing in some surprises to keep the reader utterly enthralled. The main character is very likable. Arlanna has always been an obedient and good person. She sees the unfairness of the law that allows a parent to substitute their child to serve their prison sentence. But when it became real and she herself was given a life sentence for her mafia father’s crime, it quickly became personal and a challenge to her to bring about a change.
The story line will excite the reader, the characters are well done with emotions clearly revealed so that the reader can share on that level and stay closely involved. It’s not just a matter of keeping your head down and out of trouble in prison. Arlanna sees the wrongness, the social injustice of it all, and is compelled to make things right, regardless of what it costs her personally. Grab your copy and be pulled into this exciting story.
First let me state that I received an advanced reader copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This story is gr8. Imagine going to prison, not for a crime you committed, but for one your parent did. This is that story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
This is the 4th book I’ve read written by Mary E. Twomey; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

This book reminded me of a mix between Undraland and The Way. Really good characters. Looking forward to see how they grow.

I could not believe a family would do this to their adult children, they are put in prison in place of their parents. Who would ever think that this is okay. Here you have four young adults who are trying to get out and correct things. There are secrets and things happening in the background. I could not put this book down, read it all night. I would recommend this book.

I have got to say this was a very interesting book. Very original. A law that allows a person to pay to send their child to jail for the parents crimes. The law is called Sins of the Father.
Now throw in a world not populated by humans but supernatural creatures. Very interesting since you have magic and mayhem. Problem is the way the author writes you have no clue about the people not being human for a good bit. Suddenly they talk of suppressing a person’s magic while in jail and so and so is Fae and you start looking back over the last few chapters wondering what you missed.
Overall I really liked the book. The characters are engaging and complex and I want to know what happens with them. I will admit it did feel like it went on a little needlessly but the author was setting the stage and world building. There is romance but so much drama and politics, illegal politics that took awhile to get set up so it was understandable.
I have high hopes the next book is even better.

OMG I loved this and it’s unusual storyline! Commit a sin but your kids goes to jail in your place what parent wouldn’t wanna do that and for our poor female mc Arlanna that what happens to her! Totally hooked from the start this is a fab dystopian paranormal penitentiary romance with some great characters and I cannot wait for book 2!
What a book hangover I have now! That was just excellent reading. The world building is exceptional and complex. The plot unique and addictive. The characters are engaging and believable. So many great things going on in this book. I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel. This is one I’ll definitely be recommending to friends and book group members.

This is different from the other books that Mary has written before but it is still just as greatly written. The characters are well developed and pull you into the story so well. The essential princess of a crime lord is paying the price for her father’s crimes, in a prison where other children are doing the same for their parents. It’s not an easy road, but with the new allies she makes in prison, getting out of prison becomes a lot more than just a plain escape.
Picture growing up doing what your parents tell you, never stealing, partying, or anything bad. Always doing whats rights and never arguing or fighting with your parents. How would you feel if you have to pay for one of your parents crimes? Finding yourself in prison/jail for a crime you never committed. How would you feel then?
You will not regret reading this book. It will leave you wanting more.

I usually don’t like prison story settings, a trigger for me, but after an initial slow to start I found myself caring what happened to the MC/heroine. This is a story of surviving stupid situations caused by the parents in the fae world. Major social injustice. Even though she originally thought she could keep her head down and not be involved, the more she found out what’s really going on she felt compelled to try and stop the craziness. The supporting characters were very interesting. I actually enjoyed this story and I want to read the next in the series.

A haunting and intriguing tale, with magic, shifters and fae. Betrayals and redemptions, hatred and desire, a perfect blending of disparate personalities and characters; a plot that twists and turns, leaving you guessing until the end…
All i can say is i cant wait for more! Im a huge fan of the author and have been for years. This book I was a little iffy with when I heard the storyline I wasnt sure if I would like it but I. Immediately shut myself up. I could instantly love the main character and her fight and spunk. I felt her weaknesses and loved her more for it. Mary has this beautiful way of writing and a way with words that make you stop and re read lines and get lost in the beauty of them. She knows emotions and she she executes them well. Im so excited for more of this series and to get lost in more of the imagination that is mary!

Arlanna didn’t do the crime, but she will certainly be forced to do the time, due to the corrupt system in place, where she goes behind bars for the crime her father committed. Her father is a crime boss, and normally he has been able to swindle his way out of things, except for this time. Understandably Arlanna is upset, although she wasn’t expecting the trouble waiting for her in prison, with all the other kids with parents who also elected to have them serve time for their crimes. I loved this engrossing story, and the emotional tale of what happens to Arlanna, and the friendships/enemies she has. I can’t wait till the next one comes out.

WOW! I was blown away by this book in a new series. The characters are well developed and have their own baggage and quirks. The premise of this dystopian paranormal is unique and has you turning pages so you just can’t put it down. Arlanna, daughter of a feared “mob” boss is sent to this special prison because her father got caught for the first time in a crime and was found guilty. Why was she sent to prison? Because her father was rich enough to pay the king so by the king’s law, the criminal can choose his child to serve his sentence in his place. Wow what a premise. Will she ever get out since her father can commite as many crimes as he can pay for to keep his daughter to serve for him? In this prison she meets Charlotte who has not spoken for 2 years and her close friend, Cass who is a strong willed girl, a protector and Gray who happens to be a shifter (a wolf). The three new friends also are outcasts in a sense from the rest of the prison population. With cuffs on their wrists to keep them from using their magic, the four want desperately to end their incarceration and change this inhumane law so they begin to plan. Can they find a way to get their magic back? Arlanna’s only visits she gets is her body guard who has been with her since birth. A sweet and kind man who gives her the warmth of love she lacks from her family. This book was amazing and I can’t wait for the second book in this series to see what happens next since we are left with a surprise! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
