The sci-fi wasn’t the whole focus point just a little added something towards the end that made why the connections to certain people for Pete to feel. There was a short chapter in the beginning about the present then for 30 chapters it’s about the past 5 years ago that caused Pete to loose his best friend, his love, his Rae of sunshine his fiancée Rae to bring justice to his club. This was a great story with a connection os a past with the main characters, with right amount of drama, a few love scenes, adventure and a touch of darkness.
Ravage Riders is a whole secret meaning and not the messed up biker club that it is under the current Pres Rafe, it was one of protection and a family that all share a common background.
Rae’s father Ron and Pete’s father Mack are the children from the founding members, they were best friends, brothers in and out of the club and they encourage their children Pete and Rae to become closer and her dad had Pete swear to always protect Rae no matter what. As they grew up they were together, him protecting her from danger she didn’t know was there and as she was 17 the truth of the danger came into light, as well as secrets.
Pete’s ‘brothers’ from a early age was friendship to a strong connection between them and they are R.J he had a rough childhood, a deadbeat dad and a addicted mother, Jake, not much infor on him, Beckett the sheriff’s son, (the sheriff is okay with his son helping Pete) Shane, again not sure what his deal is, GQ is Beckett cousin, Ghost and a few other members but the first 4 is the only ones Pete ever trusts. The ending will have more surprises then just how the sci-fi part plays into this story, how who is related to who and what the next book might be setted to…
OK!! That is something else. Very powerful and intuitive. Peter and Rae belonged together and all the stuff they went through. It will be worth it in the long run. The ending was a shock but it leaves the story open for a lot more to come. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Sci-fi isn’t my normal genre, however, the MC genre is one of my favorites so I thought I would check this book out and I am glad that I did! The storyline was well written and the characters were well detailed! I really liked Rae and Edge together, especially since they knew each other when they were younger which really made them work as a couple!
Amazing, simply AMAZING! THIS novel HAS IT ALL! It’s GRITTY, ROMANTIC and a 5++ MUST-BUY!!
Just finished reading “SINS OF THE FATHER” and I am speechless! Confounded, amazed and at the same time recognizing that I have just read a masterpiece and now want more!!!! The writing is perfect: smooth, easy to read, and with just the right amount of everything GRITTY to make it a totally realistic MC tale. Add to that some amazing characterization and a character-driven plot, and I fell absolutely in love with ALL of the characters. Every young woman hopes to meet a young man like Pete. A man who is a born leader, funny, smart, and totally devoted to her welfare. Author Landis uses a modified dual narration format so that readers have the opportunity to see sometimes even the same event from both Peter’s/Edge’s point of view as well as from Rae’s point of view. Then she takes that narration/point of view in a direction I’ve never seen used successfully before in Indie writing. She gives some of the secondary characters a voice/narration/point of view, that gave this reader an amazing understanding of the incredible dynamics at play. I would love to go into more detail, but I can’t without revealing specifics that might spoil aspects of the amazing twists and turns within its pages. Every trope mentioned in the elongated title of “SINS OF THE FATHER” is present and presented with such astounding revelations that my goosebumps had goosebumps on a number of occasions! Then I laughed, I cried, I shouted with joy, and I shook with suspense and sometimes fear, but at the end was a smile. While I voluntarily read an ARC copy of “SINS OF THE FATHER,” I plan to purchase a copy when it goes live and place it in the FAVORITES collection on my Kindle. This is one novel I am going to enjoy reading again, and again. So, this is my honest 5++STAR recommendation – BUY THIS BOOK! If you enjoy romance, you will LOVE “SINS OF THE FATHER.” Not only is “SINS OF THE FATHER” wonderfully romantic, it is also a great MC story, with some “knock-your-socks-off” Sci-Fi Paranormal twists, which span nearly twenty years in the lives of its characters, and then ends with a guaranteed happily ever after! “SINS OF THE FATHER” truly has it all! I STRONGLY suggest that you purchase your copy of “SINS OF THE FATHER” TODAY! You will be so glad you did! Happy pages!
Usually I’m not that in to Sci-Fi, but I was thoroughly entertained by this one and I will have to keep up with this. I’m glad I got to read this. Great characters and storyline . Loads of twists and turns and great plot and detailed story. Creative and intriguing all around totally great Sci-fi adventure!
I was a little iffy cause I’m not a huge sci-of fan but love MC books. This story has a good plot and is interesting. Kept you guessing as to what the connection was between these people. Liked how it was explained at the end and kept me wondering what will be next for these characters.
This book is very different then what i read but this book was a very good book and will draw you in to the book from the first page and you will be ready for the second book coming soon..
This book had tropes that I usually don’t read, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It really took me on a crazy ride. The love between Pete and Rae only got stronger over time and circumstance. I love the sense of family that an MC gives each other, as well as having each other’s backs through the good and bad times.
An epic love story with a great big secret revealed at the end. Every page has a new action or twist and I couldn’t put it down.
Sins of the Father is an action packed story with a realistic tone that leaves you feeling as though you are right there in the middle of the action. Rea and Pete’s love story touched my heart. I admit I was a little hesitant when i saw Sci-Fi, Motorcycle Club, and Romance. However, this author pulled it off in a spectacular way. Steamy and sweet romance with a believable Sci-Fi twist. Loved the ending. Looking forward to more.
Wow I absolutely loved this book …
Alpha male or something else I can tell u this much is Edge wants me to get on the back of his bike I wouldn’t hesitate…. so bloody hot
So many twists and turns and a few shocks along the way and the ending oh my god the ending …..
A must read I can’t wait for the next book in this action packed series !
I didnt know what to expect with the story. It’s the first Sci-Fi romance I’ve read. I do enjoy MC & second chance romances. I loved reading Pete “Edge” & Rae’s story. Pete and Rae’s relationship started as a childhood friendship and led up to so much more. The way the Nikki Landis wrote this was awesome. The Sci-Fi part never came up until almost the end of the book. I don’t think I would of enjoyed it nearly as much if it would of been through out the entire story. This book is a must read and I’m look fwd to reading the second book in this series when it comes out.
I was given this ARC for my honest review. It so exceeded my expectations by 100%.
Rafe was the president of the Ravage Riders MC, Edge, the Vice President. Pete “Edge” Harding was given the name “Edge” by Rafe because he was always on edge, ready to snap at any moment in a rage. There was bad blood between the two, but as the old saying goes, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Edge used to be a different guy, one who gave a shit and cared about doing the right thing but doing the right thing had cost him the only woman who ever meant anything to him. He was determined to avenge the wrongs done to him and his loved ones. Right before Akando, a member of the Satan’s Outlaws and rival MC died, he told Edge the two MCs use to be brothers. He knew what really caused the feud between the two MCs and Edge needed to get the truth, not listen to the lies being told on both sides.
Pete had always loved Rae and Rae had had a huge crush on Pete since the 6th grade but outwardly it was a love/hate relationship with nasty barbs thrown his way. He finally told her he loved her when he was a senior in high school and she, acknowledging her feelings, agreed to be his. A deathbed promise buried in secrets, lies, and the bitterness of loss Pete held on to the one thing that mattered. His promise to keep Rae safe, even at the expense of my own life. She had no idea how much danger she was actually in.
Following their story was such an emotional rollercoaster of emotion. Definitely worth the time for this read.
Peter “Edge” Harding grew up around the MC world but he promised his dad at a young age that he would never join. Yet when it came down to saving the life of the girl he loved he joined up so her life could be spared and she could be safe away from the Ravage Riders MC (RRMC) and the Outlaws MC.
Rae Stenson was in love with Peter since they were kids and he promised he would always keep her safe. But in order to save her, he had to leave her after everything he did for her in the past.
Now Peter has found Rae again and this time he won’t let her go but will the cost be? Can Peter keep Rae safe after all this time when the threat is still there?
This was a great read and there was lots of tension from start to finish with many twists and turns to keep the reader hooked.
I really liked Peter and loved his “alpha” nature. He was in love with Rae from such a young age and would do whatever he could to keep her safe after the death of her father, Ron. He was not a member of the RRMC but his father was and wants Peter as far away from it as possible.
Rae’s life turned upside down when her father died and then her mother remarried Charles, known as “Step-Vader”. Peter has always kept an eye on Rae and when things turn for the worse he gets Rae out of there as soon as he can. I loved when the two of them began their relationship and how close they were.
I loved Rae and Peter’s relationship and how it all started and how the two of them never stopped loving each other. Yet there were some twists and turns that I did not see coming.
There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming in reference to the RRMC and the Outlaws. I was definitely surprised at some of the revelations.
So I was completely surprised at the end with what was revealed as I never read the blurb about the book being sci-fi. I was shocked a little but I am really interested in seeing how everything turns out!
Let me start by saying…WOW!! Nikki Landis Blew My Mind with this Book!! She is a New AUTHOR for me & I Loved Every Intense Minute of this Story from the Very Beginning of SINS of the FATHER!! I COULD NOT Put it Down…Such A Page Turner!! So different from what I have been reading lately and Loved THE TWIST towards the End!!
I will NOT Give Out SPOILERS because This is a Must Read Book!! It is Beautifully written about Rae and Pete aka Edge story with so MUCH Raw Emotion. At times, I wanted to throw my Tablet across the room for these characters!! Absolutely love this Book and Cannot wait to Read More from Nikki Landis!!
We meet Pete and Rea and follow them from the present to the past and back to the present. Both have family that was in the MC. As they grown older there is plenty of danger and this causes Pete and Rea to take different paths.
This book was full of angst, suspense and action. There were interesting characters. This was a three and half star read for me because in the middle the story dragged. You did not find out many answers to the questions until right at the end. I would have liked to know earlier why Rea was in so much danger.
Sins of the Father does a great job of leading you down a path you think you already know, only to throw in an extraordinary twist at the end. There are several hints along the way, yet the reveal is quite spectacular. This story follows several different viewpoints of the main characters, sometimes repeating a scene from a different perspective, but it really lets you see into the minds of the main players. The love triangle between Rae, Pete, and RJ is heartbreaking, yet the epilogue leads you to believe there is hope for all of them. This book is definitely for mature audiences due to language and sexual content. Overall, a very enjoyable story!
I loved some aspects of the story but was a little frustrated by others. However, I want to state right now that this is a well written and entertaining book. I cared about the characters and am looking forward to continuing with the series and finding out more about the RRMC, RJ, Jake and others.
My issues with this book though? Some of the plot verses the excellent and captivating writing. And when I refer to the plot I’m not talking about the massive sci-fi/paranormal twist at the end. I’m a HUGE sci-fi fan girl so I loved that part. No sadly I’m referring to being left with a feeling that of unanswered questions.
It might not be important to the plot but I was puzzled over whether Rae knew her Dad was a member of an MC? I didn’t seem that she did, which was odd but never explained.
I was also puzzled as to why Pete had become a prospect with the RRMC if he was so set against joining them.
Also why did Pete feel that Rae was unsafe as it wasn’t until he got closer to her that anything began to happen? Why was Rae unsafe? Personally it didn’t add up for me as to why she suddenly became a target. Whilst these didn’t take away from the overall story they did leave me a little confused. I felt like a toddler with the repeated “Why?”.
There were a few other questions I was left with but after corresponding with the author I can confirm that these will be answered in future books, as the world building and story line progresses.
The majority of the story reads like a contemporary romance, and a new adult one, since a large portion of the book is set when Rae is 17 and Pete 18. I did find them very immature in their behaviour at times BUT given their age I assumed the author was doing an excellent job of portraying teenagers. I was correct on this as in the “5 years later scenes” the characters did feel much more mature. So despite not being a fan of new adult books I give the author credit for not making them appear more grown up. Too many NA books have an 18 year old acting and speaking like a 30 year old but this book really captured that teenage vibe well.
I also have to praise the author for how emotionally connected I felt to the characters. There was more than one occasion where it was necessary for me to blink back the tears. The actual love story between Rae and Pete was wonderful and I loved the simplicity of the second chance part. I loved how their love was all transcending.
So this definitely has a thumbs up for me and I will definitely continue with the series.
I did not want to put this book down. This is a great story with great characters, action and suspense.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Pete (Edge) is a big, tattooed biker with a thing for Rae. Rae is a sassy, spit fire of a woman that has been through terrible times. Edge was asked to protect her by her father. He is determined to protect and make her his woman. I loved the way Edge took care with Rae and am looking forward to exploring more about the alien aspect in these stories.
