After a long-distance courtship, I’d be moving into her family’s guesthouse so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding.

I’d accepted those rules and my fate.
Until I met the one I wanted to sin with.
That was when restraint became a problem…especially since THE ONE wasn’t Elle.
It was her sister, Evangeline.

This was such a beautiful love story! I absolutely loved everything about it. It had the perfect amount of jealousy and angst, and was so emotional and heartbreaking, but by the end, your heart will be put back together.
Sevin and Evangeline were so perfect together. Their love story was epic, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. More than five stars!
I didn’t even know what this book was about i knew Penelope Ward wrote it and that was about it. Sometimes i just loving going into a book blind and getting surprised by the story and this one did not disappoint.
Sins of Sevin was a such a good story of losing love, forbidden love with the heartache of doing the right thing. Sevin certainly sinner but he was a character that i loved from the start and i wouldn’t want him to be any other way.
Evangelise well she was wild carefree soul who was smothered and she made a lot of mistakes and my heart broke for her, what she goes through and Sevin.
This book had me from the first page loved absolutely everything about it, it was angsty, there were secrets you couldn’t wait to find out and then there were parts that broke my heart like Elle. I also love Adelaide and Luke, even Emily and Rose.
Loved loved loved this book

Sevin is a new favorite character, he is complex, conservative, and completely devoted. When he falls he falls forever. What happens when he falls for the one girl he cannot have… he SINS! Being devoted to one and in love with another makes this man become the best kind of man!

Are you a fan of the Forbidden Love Story? Do you like Angst?? Well if you answered yes to either or both of these questions, then you NEED to read Sins of Sevin by Penelope Ward.
I have been a HUGE fan of Penelope’s from the very beginning. I have read every book she has written and I am happy to say that I have NEVER been disappointed by her work. Sins of Sevin was no exception. I truly loved this book. I have to be honest I was a little nervous going into this book, because after reading the blurb, I was afraid of how she would handle the aspect of cheating and a love triangle (both which are hard limits for me when reading a book) Well don’t worry, she does a fantastic job while covering these things. Yes there is cheating in this book, but the way it was written into this story, it just worked and I found I wasn’t bothered by it. As for the love triangle aspect, this wasn’t really an issue. I can’t really explain why without spoiling things, but just know that this isn’t a triangle type story. There is clearly one couple who are meant to be together in this book.
I honestly don’t know if I can truly express in words how I felt about this book. Nothing I come up with seems to do it justice. I felt so many things while reading this story. It truly is a heart wrenching story of forbidden love. I love how Penelope sucks you into the story right from the beginning. The prologue is sure to grab your attention and you won’t be able to put the book down until the story is over. That is one thing that is consistent with Penelope’s books….I never want them to end and they seem to end way too quickly!!!!
Sins of Sevin was an interesting storyline. In some ways the set up and the delivery of the story reminded me of My Skylar, but it was also so different from anything I have ever read. This just proves that Penelope is a phenomenal writer, because she can always seem to come up with outstanding books and characters that continue on in your heart and mind well after you have finished the book. This book was truly beautifully written and surpassed all my expectations. This story was intense at times, heartwarming at other times and down right heart wrenching at other times, but just know that in the end, Penelope knows how to heal a broken heart in the best way!!!! I will say that at times I had to remind myself that this was a contemporary romance because with the way Penelope wrote some of the scenes, it truly felt like I was taken back in time. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll understand once you read this book.
This book is one I truly believe people should go into blind because I think any teasers or reviews might spoil the true feelings you get while reading this book. Penelope throws so much at Sevin and Evangeline that you can’t help but feel bad for everything they have to go through, but you also can’t help by root for their HEA!!!!.
If you are a fan of Penelope Ward’s or even if you have never read a book by her yet, you don’t want to miss this book!!! This is definitely one I will read again in the future and recommend to all my friends. Penelope’s books always leave me speechless and in awe of her talent. I can’t wait for her next book!!!!
This book was absolutely amazing. It was a work of genius and covered so many different societal issues (biases, religion, same-sex relationships) that we encounter every day. The characters in this story faced many challenges that morally shunned them from family and friends leading them to make decisions that resulted in unfortunate life-long consequences.
This book raises heavy topics, including cheating, religion, abandonment, and other important topics that may not be for everyone. This is a story that touches on heavy societal issues such as the injustices that religion poses in others who don’t necessarily agree with the religious beliefs of others.
This book made me go through a lot of emotions, which was probably the intent. The ending is what made me absolutely love the story.
This book has been sitting on my shelves forever and I don’t know why but I always put off reading it but I am so glad I did because it was not what I expected and so much more! The ending had me in tears and I would love to see another book or novella follow this story. I really really enjoyed this book.
4.5 stars!
After reading the blurb for the first time, I was dying to get my hands on this book. I love forbidden love. You just know it will be a heartbreaking story where hearts will be broken before being mended again (hopefully).
Sevin, was such a loyal and protective guy. I also loved Evangeline, she was headstrong and wasn’t the typical mousy silent girl abiding by the rules. Evangeline was a fresh breath of air and Sevin was gasping for air. I really liked how they met. It was heartbreaking to read how they were so attracted to each other but couldn’t be together. AND when they eventually wanted to take action that would result them being together, something happened that made Evangeline run away. I felt so bad for Sevin, his heart literally broke. It took Sevin some time before he could forgive Evangeline, which was realistic! I was glad he didn’t forgive her right away, like you see characters do in other books. I don’t want to say too much. You will have to read and experience it yourself.
Why didn’t I give it 5 stars? Evangeline made a decision which I didn’t agree with. So I was mad about that. BUT I am not in her shoes so I don’t know how I would react. This is definitely one of my favorite books by Penelope! Sevin was definitely my favorite character in this book.
Lucky number seven for Penelope, Sevin is an amazing book!! If you follow Penelope and her books, then you’ll understand where I’m coming from.
Told in a dual POV, Sins of Sevin is absolutely what you’d expect, and what you want!
When I first heard that Penelope was writing a “forbidden romance”, I got nervous. As with Stepbrother Dearest, I’ve realized that the way it’s written, I don’t see it as forbidden as it could be.
Two people fall in love. Their circumstances aren’t optimal. He’s engaged to her sister…and they should stay away from each other.
But you know what they say about the best laid plans.
Beautiful, angsty and heartfelt…I laughed, I cried…buy it, you won’t be disappointed!!
Sometimes the truth can set you free…
My truth is I went into this thinking this was going to simple. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl’s sister instead. A bunch of angst…boy and girl’s sister live happily ever after. This was so much more. I got a love story, a fabulous love story. One that is real, has flaws, but also a love so deep that it will overcome every obstacle you can imagine.
“You light a fire in me, Evangeline, one I can’t put out, one I don’t want to.”
This love starts as an arrangement, but slowly spirals into deceit, regret, self-loathing, religious differences, loss, second chances and…their truths.
Their truths were their sins.
There are some sins that I would never be able to forgive and for that I commend Sevin and his ability to let his love for Evangeline heal all the truths that surface. I know I would not have been strong enough. I was thrown for a loop with the ending. I love that this story ended as it should, complete and raw with emotion.
Sevin comes from a super religious family and everything has been arranged for him to marry Elle. After a few months of courtship he moves in with her and meets her sister, Evangeline, who he has an immediate connection with. Elle is madly in love and planning her future with Sevin. As the story progresses they both try to fight their attraction to each other but it’s a lost cause. They know they shouldn’t but they can’t help the way they feel about each other. As soon as they think they have everything figured out the unthinkable happens. Talk about plot twist!! I didn’t see that coming and was like this is the beginning of the end.
As the story unfolds things go from bad to worse for Sevin, Evangeline and Elle. This story was filled with a whole lot of angst, secrets and betrayals. I mean majority of the book I found myself gasping, calling Evangeline stupid and feeling so sorry for Sevin and Elle.
“But for someone who grew up without any kind of affection, sex was the closest thing I had to love, the closest thing to a connection with another human being.”
“Don’t ever leave me again.”
In books I always find myself rooting for the heroine but this time around I was all for Sevin. Sevin had a lot of baggage and despite it all he tried to be the best man he could be. I know, I know if he’s in love with his girlfriend’s sister how could he be? But trust me he has a heart of gold. He just needed and wanted love, acceptance and a place to call home. Don’t we all?
Evangeline, ugh, she infuriated me so much! I felt a lot of her actions and decisions when it came to certain things were selfish. She hurt a lot of people by her actions and I wanted to shake her! She didn’t deserve Sevin but to each their own.
This book was definitely not what I expected by Penelope Ward. As a fan of her later books this one took me for a wild ride and I loved every second of it! If you are looking for an emotional roller coaster look no further! I highly recommend adding the audio narration it truly did enhance the story. The narrators were able to capture the emotions throughout the story perfectly.
