He saw her from across a crowded ballpark and knew she was about to change his life.Yes, he realizes just how cliché that really is, but the moment his eyes locked on her, he knew that she was the one.At least, the one that royally screwed him over. The one responsible for his demotion and the subsequent disciplinary action taken against him before he’d even gotten out of the probationary period … probationary period with Kilgore Police Department.
It all started with a kiss.
***
Saylor Rae Spada tried to mind her business. She also tried to not get involved in petty disputes.
However, from the moment she saw him sitting next to her at a professional baseball game, a game she didn’t even want to be at but was dragged to by her blind date, she couldn’t look away.
Then the kiss cam came on, featuring none other than her and the handsome stranger.
Without missing a beat, he kissed her.
Then her blind date decided to pull a knife and try to stab him.
From that point forward, she’s done nothing but cause him trouble.
Trouble that he’s starting to find increasingly adorable.

As a first time reader of Lani Lynn Vale, I really enjoyed certain aspects of this story, but mainly I loved Saylor Spada and Lock Downey. Right from the first page, I was hooked on the connection between these two characters and the hilarious way they met.
It was love from the moment there eyes met at the ballpark. Saylor’s nightmare blind date with Tad (what an absolute jerk!) leads to a delicious kiss from police officer Lock Downey. But the results of that kiss have ruined both of their careers and now without a job, Saylor is forced to return home to Louisiana unless a certain yummy cop can help her make a new start.
I loved Saylor, Lock, and both sets of their friends and family, but I felt like the story lost me in between the rushed moments and the confusing drama. I think what really kept me reading to the end was how much I loved Saylor and Lock, both together and apart. But together these two definitely know how to steam up the pages!
*While this is a cross over between Lani Lynn Vale’s KPD Swat series and the Dixie Wardens MC series, I think this book could be read as a standalone.
3.5 stars
Finally baby Downy’s book! He is definitely not a baby anymore either!
This is book five of the KPD Motorcycle Patrol series. now if this is your first Lani Lynn Vale book, be prepared to be hooked! You will want to read the others. And I do mean every single one of them. You won’t be lost though. This is a complete stand alone.
Now Lock is Memphis and Downy’s son. Saylor is Kettle and Addy’s daughter. Just for a little refresher.
This book had me laughing right from the start.
First with the kiss cam and the date from hell. But boy can the girl throw a punch to the junk!
Lock is a lot like his dad.
I loved this and can’t wait for more.
I have some theories about Malachi and can’t wait to see how that all turns out!
Will it be another “Ghost”?
“Describe your sex life by using a movie title. -How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”
This book is about two characters are interlock two different series by the author again … and it happens beautifully! There were some pretty cute moments, as well as heated ones through the book, but the ones that I really loved were the humorous ones. And I get to see one of my favorite characters from all of her books (Kettle!!!) and am happy to see that he hasn’t changed one bit!
Lock and Saylor are awesome together and play off each other so well. Lock totally knew what he wanted and he went all out for it when it came to Saylor. And Saylor .. she’s got a little bit of her daddy in her .. can hold her own against the alpha male hotness that is Lock and the members of his family and patrol unit. There were hints of danger and some disturbing happenings during the book that really played well with the overall storyline. And I really liked how the whole thing kind of twisted around and around until it came to a point in a big way.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I started to read this during some rough moments that I was going through, and it helped me to relax and enjoy while dealing with those moments. The characters are really memorable and the flow of the story was perfectly paced and balanced. Humor was definitely littered through the pages and so was the suspense. I enjoyed the story and am very intrigued by a new character that was introduced and can’t wait for more!! So, two thumbs up and happy reading!
I loved Lock & Saylor!!! I loved getting to see their families together & reacquainting, too. Their story was mostly fun, there’s of course lots of steamy times (altho, I’ll be honest, I skip a lot of that because it goes on for paaaaages & that’s just not what I like to read – but if you DO, I’m sure it’s the perfect amount!). The bit of mystery in this one was done well, I thought, other than everyone being oblivious to things for a little longer than they should have. LOL
And the hints at the next book… Oh boy! As usual – really looking forward to more!! : )
SINNERS ARE WINNERS is book five in Lani Lynn Vale’s KPD Motorcycle Patrols series and brings us Lock and Saylor’s story. The characters are fun loving, adorably sweet and the sex appeal is off the charts. There are a few spots that could have been developed more but overall a very satisfying story!
Saylor is an adorable character. She loves her Daddy more than anything, but she needs to prove to herself that she can live her own life and not have to have him picking up the pieces for her. She’s determined to make this life she has built for herself work out.
Lock is loyal to the core, and when he makes a connection with this woman who ends up turning his world upside down, he’s not going to let the possibility of what life with her can be like disappear without a fight.
I highly recommend this series as a whole to anyone enjoying a passionate story with intense characters. They are a group of close friends working towards finding their forever when they each least expect it.
I have been waiting for Lock’s story for so long and I believe Saylor is truly the best girl for him.
Lock is the ultimate good guy who is fierce at work and totally family oriented at home. Saylor is a beautiful talented girl and is so good to read their story. I have read their parent’s books (which are all great and you should read them!) and now reading about these kids is so fun!
As all Lani Lynn Vale’s books the reading is fast and you will not put this book away for nothing since the story is getting better and better.
I just loved it!
I read this book, then turned around and read it again! Usually, I will pick up a book by this author, and not be able to put it down, but I loved Lock and Saylor so much, I just had to read their story again! This book had all of the thinks I love so much about this author’s writing and so much more! The instant, burning hot connection between Lock and Saylor, the elements of danger and surprise, as well as the strong sense of family that permeates all of the books written by LLV. I just can’t get enough!
We met both of these characters (briefly!) in their parents books, so I felt like I knew them both already. Saylor grew up with challenges that most of us can’t even imagine, but still had a relatively perfect childhood. Amazing parents, and an MC that always had her back, there were very few dark spots in her life. But when she moves away, to start her own path in life, it seems like nothing is going right! Lock grew up with a tight family as well, and one glimpse at Saylor totally knocked his socks off! These two were absolutely made for each other, but crazy things keep getting in their way!
This book is an embodiment of everything that I’ve enjoyed about this author’s writing. I love that we are now getting the stories of the children from the previous books by LLV. I adore the glimpses of the past characters that I’ve loved so much! I love that each book builds on the relationships and friendships of past books, but each can absolutely stand on its own. Saylor and Lock were so much fun in their story, and I couldn’t help but root for them, right from the beginning! (And, just so you know, there are hints of what is coming next, and I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on it!!!)
Saylor was on a date from hell and it got better when Lock was there next to her then it wasn’t. These two started off on the wrong foot but that bad thing kept pulling them back together, if it isn’t her baking it is the undeniable chemistry they have .
Yet another hit from Lani Lynn Vale! Lock and Saylor have immediate chemistry upon a chance meeting sitting next to each other at a baseball game. In true Lani Lynn Vale fashion though, Saylor is on a date not with Lock, and it’s a terrible date at that. When things get out of hand and she becomes a viral sensation from not letting her date hurt Lock or anyone else, it sparks the beginning of her bad luck in town. Months later and still having bad luck, she admits defeat and decide to move back home after one last side job. Through that, she ends up running into Lock again, and this time the pair decide to act on their chemistry and take a chance even though them meeting was unexpected. As they continue to get to know each other both as individuals as well as within a relationship, Saylor’s bad luck continues and neither of them can determine why as it starts to spread to her loved ones. Per usual, my infatuation with this author’s books continues and if anything gets stronger with finishing each book. From her style of writing to the comedic aspect of the storylines I can’t get enough and am obsessed with every book! Can’t wait for the next one!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved Downey & Memphis’ book so reading their son’s story was wonderful! Lock is a sweet, sexy, alpha cop so take a moment to think & fan yourself!! Saylor is sassy, with an attitude that made this story even better. I loved their almost insta-love story & revisiting of old characters that I fell in love with previously. I just wanted more, this book ended before I was ready for it to. I wanted more intensity, more angst, just more. As always I love Lani’s story, it was well written & the chemistry was hot!!
I recommend this book. Told in dual POV.
Easy and steamy quick read! I love this series!
There is something about a redhead that makes me weak in the knees. Knowing that Locke is a red-headed God made this book ramp up all the more, for me.
Saylor is a badass in the kitchen. Put her anywhere with a stove and she is in the zone and will create a masterpiece. Put Locke in the kitchen next to her and you have a dream duo. Whatever she throws down, he scoops up. You would never know that he eats the way he does with the physique that he carries around under that tight police uniform. I love these two together. They’re like peanut butter and jelly, mac and cheese or turkey and stuffing. They just work. Their love knows no bounds and he knew she would be his from the moment he saw her. Absolutely adore this story!
As usual, Lani gives us a book that we can’t put down. She is one of the very few authors that I read in one fell swoop. Once I crack it open, it’s in my hands until the end. That is a sign of a one of a kind, talented author. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!!
Let it be known that I am a big fan of Lani Lynn Vale and also of this KPD Motorcycle Patrol Series. Considering this is Book 5 you might say, I have been hooked for a while.
I have loved them all and enjoyed this one also. But I will alert you, with this one, it helps to have a little background before you start. Lani Lynn brings all things into focus as the story goes on, but a little helps a lot.
How Lock, the new kid to the motorcycle unit get’s anything done is beyond me. Actually, how he ended up in this unit should have warned him to begin with. But then, common sense has been known to be curbed, sometimes by something as simple as a smile.
Saylor is just trying to enjoy her life before. She is dealing with the pitfalls and preparing to accept reality in a sad way. Her hobby wants to become a full time job. Sadly, that is not what her quest in life is about and she decides she needs to correct that.
Kiss Cams can be fun…most of the time… but maybe not when the person you are kissing is not the person you came to the game with. I started off laughing at the antics as these two got to know each other. But as their relationship grew I found myself wanting to protect them, much like they were doing for each other. By the end, I was cheering for them and I was all too happy with Lock’s final gestures. Yes this story has a HEA ending, and it was so much needed.
Lani Lynn Vale, you have had me wrapped up since book one and this one has me looking forward to the next installment. Well done indeed.
Lani Lynn Vale’s female leads are some of my absolute favorite heroines because they are as temperamental, stubborn, and tell it like it is as they can get, which means that their families as well as their friends and most definitely the men in their lives are probably going to be exposed to a whole lot of recklessness, chaos, and sass in copious amounts, but that’s what makes these leading ladies everything their heroes want and need, even if they don’t know it a first…
Saylor is definitely up at the top of my list of favorite Vale’s heroines, and I think it’s because she embraces her uniqueness and stays true to who she is regardless of what others want her to be. I’m all about sarcastic and intelligent characters and Saylor illustrates her witty ways on several occasions throughout the story.
Lock is all kinds of alpha male goodness and while his first interaction with Saylor gets him in a whole lot of trouble, professionally and then personally because he can get her off of his mind, it’s clear from the onset that whatever is building just beneath the surface between these two deserves a chance, especially when Lock finds out just how connected they are and figures out that Saylor’s irresistible curves, confectionary creations, and a mouth that doesn’t stop pulling him further into everything that she is and everything they can be together.
Winners Are Sinners is a great addition to Vale’s KPD Motorcycle Patrol series. I love the family feel of it and the fact that readers get to catch up with some favorites of past books makes everything that much better.
4 Poison Apples
I was so excited to read about baby Lock and this book did not disappoint. Lock and Saylor meet in a very unusual situation that ends up making them famous on the internet for standing up against Saylor’s date at the ballpark. Six months later they figure out that they have the same friends but never really saw each other due to working etc. Lock was such a sweet, caring, intense alpha male, but not over the top controlling, he was perfect. Saylor she was sweet, feisty, kind, and hardworking. These two together are perfect and from day one they have the perfect chemistry. The thing I loved best about this read was getting to see all the other Dixie Wardens and Swat team that I adore in the older books. The only thing I felt was off was the way the stalker issue was resolved very quickly, I think it’s just that I am selfish and was wanting to read more about baby Lock. This was a great read and I can’t wait for more especially since I am so curious about Malachi’s story
Another to add to the top of the list!! Every release from Lani Lynn Vale seems to make it to the top of my list! She keeps putting out amazing stories, and Lock and Saylor are another amazing couple. While I’m not a fan of baseball, the Kiss Cam is the perfect way to start a relationship, right? Of course it is.
This series is wonderful, love all the guys in the tight pants on the motorcycles! 🙂
5 Stars
I swear I have a new favorite every single release that Lani Lynn Vale has lol. I absolutely LOVED Lock and Saylor. Nothing like a Kiss Cam to bring out true lust amongst two strangers. These two had some major chemistry vibes as soon as they laid eyes on each other at a baseball game and from there everything just fell into place. Sinners are Winners is a fun-loving, laugh out loud, sweet story with LLV’s touch of suspense, that sucks you in and before you realize it, you’re at the end of the story.
I am seriously loving these new second generation series. It’s the best of both worlds. All my favorite originals plus all their kids. LLV continually proves why she’s an auto #oneclick for me. I don’t even need to read the blurb first.
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
Lani Lynn Vale does it again! She blew me away (shocker, I know) with Sinners are Winners. Lock and Saylor went from being children of two of my favorite couples to being yet another favorite couple for me themselves. I can’t even say I devoured their story because that’s an understatement. I started reading this when I got up at 5 AM and did not put it down through the entirety of getting three kids ready for school. I read this book while cooking, styling hair (pro tip, kids are great page flippers) getting book bags backed, the whole thing. I. COULD. NOT. STOP. READING.
You’ve got Lock, who puts his father to shame in the hot department. Which is saying something because Downy is HOT. Lock is also a total sweetheart without even meaning to be. The things he does, both big and small for Saylor had me saying “awww” repeatedly. And Saylor? She’s flipping adorable. And funny.
From the heat to the sweet and the suspense and mystery Lock and Saylor have a story that is a recipe for the ultimate book hangover.
And A Half Stars
I love, love, love Lani Lynn Vale’s books and jumped at the chance to read an ARC of her latest book ‘Sinners are Winners’ and may I say, I’d sin, nine ways to Sunday with a man as sexy AF as Lachlan . He is an adorable ginger haired police officer with a soft spot for his crazy family and for an adorable part time baker. Saylor is the beloved only child of a protective biker father. She’s deaf but does not let that define her. Attempting to gain some independence from her parents she moves out on her own. Unable to get ahead she’s forced to move back home until she falls for Lock. Their chemistry is off the charts, their banter and exchanges are hilarious and the sexy times are hot. A great story, a great read. Add this book to your TBR list.
A sexy, fun, quick read that will have you swooning hard! I am so in love with this series and it just keeps getting better and better!
Saylor and Lock are amazingly perfect! Their chemistry jumped off the pages from the very beginning and I couldn’t get enough of them.
Lock is sweet, caring and all kinds of hot alpha. He had me falling fast and hard for him and I didn’t want to stop. Saylor is sweet, sassy and just perfect for Lock. I loved these two together and didn’t want their story to end.
While Sinners are Winners can be read as a stand alone I do highly recommend you read the others in this series as well because they are all amazing!
