He saw her from across a crowded ballpark and knew she was about to change his life.Yes, he realizes just how cliché that really is, but the moment his eyes locked on her, he knew that she was the one.At least, the one that royally screwed him over. The one responsible for his demotion and the subsequent disciplinary action taken against him before he’d even gotten out of the probationary period … probationary period with Kilgore Police Department.
It all started with a kiss.
***
Saylor Rae Spada tried to mind her business. She also tried to not get involved in petty disputes.
However, from the moment she saw him sitting next to her at a professional baseball game, a game she didn’t even want to be at but was dragged to by her blind date, she couldn’t look away.
Then the kiss cam came on, featuring none other than her and the handsome stranger.
Without missing a beat, he kissed her.
Then her blind date decided to pull a knife and try to stab him.
From that point forward, she’s done nothing but cause him trouble.
Trouble that he’s starting to find increasingly adorable.

From the moment their eyes met at a baseball game, love was in the air. I could feel it. They couldn’t look away from each other. And then all hell broke loose! Six months later, they haven’t seen or forgotten about the other, but a wedding brings them back together, in style, and the chemistry between them is as hot as ever.
I loved the connection between Lock and Saylor. The fact that they were connected by six degrees and that even though they knew the same people, they somehow never met, intrigued me. I loved that Saylor had unique characteristics that I wouldn’t have guessed if the author didn’t describe them. I’m still trying to figure out why they were necessary, as they didn’t actually play a part in the story, but I liked the concept anyway. However, as much as I enjoyed Saylor and her quick wit, she did something that made me cringe. It’s something that whenever a heroine does it, I have to question their sanity. When your life is in danger and those who are qualified to protect you try to do so, do as they say! Unless you yourself are qualified, stop thinking that you can take care of yourself in the face of dangerous circumstances. You can’t. Unless you have had tactical training, have excelled at some form of martial art, or are a keen gunslinger (or something of the sort), shut up, sit down, and do as your told by the professionals!
Okay, so while I enjoyed Saylor (aside from that last little bit), the star of the show was Lock. This man was insanely fine and Saylor said it best:
I really liked who Lock was as a person. He was kind, caring, sweet, possessive and hot.
The characters and the romance were, as always, topnotch. I even got the chance to revisit with some of my favorite people. I’m so in love with everyone! With a bit of suspense and creepiness to keep things lively, Sinners Are Winners was a winner in my book. There was one person introduced in this story that I’m really forward to getting to know better… Malachi Stokes. His story sounds like it would be heartbreaking and I just know that LLV will make it all worth it!!
One of my favorite things to do is to sit down each month with the new Lani Lynn Vale book and catch up with a group of old friends. I’ve been reading her books and these characters’ stories on a monthly basis for so many years now that I am utterly invested in them and this amazing East Texas world Vale has created. The KPD Motorcycle Patrol series is a next generation series based upon the stories of the children of the lead couples from some of Vale’s earlier series, and in the case of this book, both the hero and the heroine are children of original lead couples from The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC and Code 11-KPD SWAT.
Saylor Spada is the daughter of Adeline and Tiago “Kettle” Spada. Originally from Benton, Louisiana, she’s relocated to the Longview/Kilgore area to get out from under her father, and his MC’s, watch and stand on her own two feet. Lachlan Downey, Junior, or Lock, is a police officer and the son of the Kilgore SWAT team negotiator, Lachlan Downy, Senior and his wife, Memphis.
Lani kicked off this romance with her take on a meet cute – complete with a kiss-cam moment and junk punch viral video. Lock and Saylor had incredible natural chemistry, and this is about as close to insta-love as Vale gets, which is probably why the couple doesn’t see each other again for six months. Unfortunately, when they do, it’s essentially on the eve of Saylor’s move back home to Benton. Lock has to pull off a miracle to keep her in Kilgore, and much to Kettle’s chagrin, he does just that. Theirs is a bit of a whirlwind romance, and they fell hard and fast for each other. They definitely had insanely hot chemistry, but on top of that, they also adored each other and were so sweet together. Lani always includes a suspenseful element to her stories, and this part of the story seemed to involve almost everyone.
Sinners are Winners is a fantastic blend of the past and the future in Vale’s world. Full of all the heat, heart and humor I crave in Vale’s writing, this was an addictively sweet, sexy and suspenseful addition to a fantastic series. Sinners are Winners by Lani Lynn Vale. gets five smooches from me!

“I like these shorts,” she said. “I can see every little detail of your p3n1s.”
Lani Lynn Vale has created another amazing, funny, no-filter female that kept me in stitches. I know you will adore Saylor as much as I do. Did I mention that her father is Kettle? Am I the only one that absolutely loves those favorite characters from different series popping up anytime, at will? I especially enjoy the alpha growling by the badass bikers when their baby girls are involved.
Saylor can’t actually keep her meeting with the sexy stranger a secret when their kiss is blasted on live television when they are captured by the ‘kiss cam’ at a pro baseball game. And the fact that the man she’s kissing is not the date she arrived with is quite obvious as well. The publicized spectacle they made when her date became enraged by their embrace resulted in the sexy stranger getting demoted and her unable to get hired. That being a memorable experience for both of them is an understatement.
Did I mention that Saylor is a wizard? Her magic is in the kitchen, baking cakes. Word of mouth has spread and she’s getting lots of requests for special event creations. This is how I was first introduced to her character in this series. But, it’s just something she does for friends and to supplement her income while she’s trying to get work in her chosen field. I’ll let you learn what that is on your own…
I can’t get enough of this series, it’s so addictive, and I don’t want an intervention. Another thing I’m really enjoying is the KPD Motorcycle Patrol… and their uniform. It’s a real attention-getter and conversation starter. So far, every story in this series has kept me guessing, given me the feels, and made me laugh. Though actually, it’s the author doing that. She’s a wizard too, and her word wizardry is to blame. I met a new member of the patrol while reading this installment and I’m soo excited to learn more about him in If You Say So. The line forms here…
I laughed so much reading this book especially with how many people these two have in common but yet never met before. Saylor is all set to move home but when she see Lock at a wedding he convinces her to stay and helps her get a job. Since Saylor has been unsuccessful in getting one and thinks it’s all due to her first encounter with Lock at a game.
With Saylor staying Lock plans on getting closer to her and working on their forever. But unbeknownst to them there is someone from both their past that does not want their happiness since they never go theirs.
I would definitely recommend reading this book to get all the great juicy details.
An insta-love, entertaining, and witty journey to go on with Lock and Saylor. I loved their banter, their chemistry was off the charts, and their connection is beautiful. This was possibly the sweetest of this series so far and of course there is a touch of suspense mixed in. I enjoyed this story.
Love ms vale writing all of her books that i have read are wonderful can’t get enough
Absolutely love the characters and their banter. Couldn’t put it down
When Saylor is on the date from hell and she kisses the gorgeous man next to her on the “kiss cam” not her date, it is something that changes both of their lives without them knowing it. I loved Saylor and Lock. This series just gets better with every story that I read. Lani Lynn Vale has a talent that pulls her readers in and they never want to leave the world she created, this book is no exception. Amazing story and characters that blow your mind. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I didn’t feel for this book like I’ve felt for others from this author, and yet, there are outstanding parts where her style of wonderful characters and a sense of family togetherness is present. There’s a lot of the Dixie Wardens here, as parents to present characters. And we get to meet a new character, Malachi Stokes, who I hope we get to see in a future book because he’s way lots interesting.
Downey Junior, who was mentioned so much in previous books, is now the star in this one. He’s now called Lock, from his first name, Lachlan. His father is Downey Senior and he also works in the Kilgore PD. Lock’s young, fresh out of the Navy, and starting his career in the police, and hoping that his father doesn’t interfere too much on his behalf. He’s redheaded and gorgeous (meaning beautiful face, ripped and with a great package). When he took his sister to a baseball game, he looked at where his seats were located, saw this woman on the seat next to his and was it was as if he was hit by a two-by-four, instant lust.
Saylor was with a date in the game, but she was considering escaping. Her date was nice and easy-going when they met, but now he was acting like an a-hole. He spent the whole time flirting with the woman on his other side and ignoring Saylor. He refused to buy her a hot dog and Lock got her one. When the jerk went to the restroom, the kiss cam focused on Lock and Saylor and they kissed. The jerk came back and menaced them with a knife, Saylor got in the middle, got punched in the face and she junk punched the guy. Then Lock finished the guy with a couple more punches. Everyone caught the action on video and it went viral. Lock got a reprimand at work and was transferred to the new motorcycle unit with the cute, hella tight uniforms and Saylor couldn’t get any jobs because she was seen as a trouble-maker.
Lock loved her cakes and he couldn’t face living without the treats so he offered her a solution which ended up being their love story. There’s a suspenseful situation, involving stalker doing mischief to Saylor’s father, legal problems with Lock’s mother’s business, a mysterious car that kept shadowing them, and both sets of parents getting into their business. There’s a competition about which parent set was more awesome.
I loved the characters who as always are delightful and the story is heartwarming. I loved the part where Lock lets Saylor be the boss around the house, then once they are in the bedroom, he is the indisputable boss. The sex scenes in this book were excessive for me, but I’m pretty sure everyone else loved this fact. Another thing I loved is that Saylor is deaf and used cochlear implants. This author uses characters with some kind of incapacity to show us that everyone deserves to be happy and is able to live full, happy lives. This inclusivity is one of the factors that makes this author so awesome to me. I didn’t get the warm fuzzy feeling I get with other books, but I did enjoy and loved the characters.
It’s time for another one of those sexy men in the KPD Motorcycle Patrol to finally meet his match.
This time, we finally get Lock’s story. I’ve been intrigued by him since the series started. And he didn’t disappoint. This former military man turned cop is actually one of the sweetest guys in the series. He’s funny, loyal, loving, protective, and is the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He’s charming, alpha, and a little bit dirty. It’s a great combination.
Saylor is such a real character. She struggles – things don’t always work out the way she wants them to – but she’s resilient, determined, and a little on the stubborn side. She’s funny, feisty, and definitely a strong female lead.
Lock and Saylor have chemistry from their very first meeting. They’re a couple who are fun and flirty, sweet and heartfelt, and sometimes downright filthy. They’ll definitely keep you entertained. Also,I really enjoy the aspects of mystery that each of these stories in the series has. It gives the reader a little something extra.
All in all, I think you’ll enjoy this story.
This was a good book but I felt like I was waiting for the big suspense and was a little let down. A hood read and had the humor and love connection that I love from Lani LynnVale. I cannot wait for the next one!
4.5 Stars
This is a must read! I love this series, but when the opening scene of this book took place at a ballpark I knew it was going to be oh so good. This book had me laughing so much. That’s one of reasons I love this series because of sense of humor in them.I loved the characters to pieces. I was instantly invested in Saylor and Lock’s story. Their banter is great and they have such great chemistry. I loved both sets of parents too. They add another layer to the book for me.I could hardly put this one down and caused a book hangover.
What a fun fun read! Lock and Saylor are definetely too cute.. I love the jokes and love crush. I cant never see police man without remembering thhis series.. Well the magic of Lani’s The story had easily drawn me with the easiness.. I adored Saylor and her families…
Sinners are Winners by Lani Lynn Vale is the fifth book in her KPD Motorcycle Patrol series. Told in dual POV between Lachlan Downy Junior and Saylor Rae Spada. Quirky, sexy, with instant chemistry and another killer storyline. Lani Lynn Vale has fast become a must read author for me.
Lock and Saylor first meet at a baseball game. Between her unfortunately terrible date, the Kiss Cam incident and the terrible date’s reaction they part ways. Six months later, the cake lady’s cakes that Lock is fixated on turns out to be none other than his Kiss Cam buddy and the chemistry sparks back to life between them. Throw in family connections that they both have and never realized it’s a wonder they didn’t meet earlier in their lives. The chemistry is hot – Lock’s alpha male-ness is smoking! I absolutely adored this story! Enjoy!
It started at a baseball game, Lock saw the black haired beauty who haunted his thoughts and ruined his career. On the eve of moving back home Saylor wishes she had a way to fix the problem at hand, a job, but all of her efforts have been foiled and she has one last thing to do and that is being part of the wedding and making the cake. With her apartment all packed up though she is borrowing a kitchen and ends up on Lock’s door. Lock wants to know more about Saylor but with her leaving it is impossible but what if he could bide some time?
Another fantastic story for Lani Lynn Vale. I loved this, Lock is a sweeter male character and not quite as alpha male as the other books but it works. Loved Saylor, she is sweet but feisty. Love the moments with her dad, perfect.
Over the last year I have become a huge fan of Lani Lynn Vale’s and have become seriously invested in these characters and worlds she is building with us monthly. Its like a catch-up with friends I never want to miss.
Each new book builds on worlds already created by LLV and we are getting to see the stories of her original favourites from her Dixie Wardens MC and Code 11-KDP SWAT
This trip to Kilgore is Saylor Spada and Lachlan Downey (Lock) and I loved these two. The first time they met was one serious meet-cute which had me in fits with the kiss-cam and junk punch making them both viral sensations. The connection between them is off the charts hot and red hot from the moment they meet and re-ignites when they meet again a few months later. This was one huge beautiful insta-love.
Adding to her sweet entertaining romance is LLV’s usual suspense which runs along in the background climaxing into some drama nearer the end
Love this series and can’t wait to see what happens next with If You Say So
Lock and Saylor’s story!!! I honestly can’t put an LLV book down when I start reading it. The characters are amazing and draw you into the fold.
Another winner in the KPD series.
Absolutely loved Lock and Saylor together, interesting storyline and the mystery of Malachi all made for a quick enjoyable read.
5 He Should Come with a Warning Label Stars!!
Lock and Saylor meet completely by accident at a baseball game and they get to “know” each other pretty quickly when they end up on the “kiss cam.” And so begins the next book in what has become one of my favorite series by Ms. Vale.
Needless to say, neither of them ever forgot each other so when they meet again the chemistry they felt that day comes roaring back to life and get your fans out because they are Sexy AF!! What’s also apparent is that there’s more to what they feel for each other than just their physical attraction…problem is Saylor is getting ready to leave town…but Lock is going to put a stop to that!
Their story moves at a lightening pace and I loved every single word and page. Lock is totally alpha and the fact that he’s on the KPD Motorcycle Patrol just makes him that much sexier to Saylor. He’ll do anything to keep her in Kilgore and when she needs a job to stay in town, well, he’s got the solution. I loved how he go to the ends of the earth to love her and protect her and this love they’re building up to.
Being back in Kilgore also means we get to see some of my favorite characters again and they bring so much to the table. Especially when there’s trouble for the people that Lock loves. It brings all his protective instincts out because no one messes with what’s his!
These two are very physical with other and Holy Wowza is it H.O.T.!! There were moments that I had to take a minute to just calm my racing heart!! As much as these two want to be together, it’s not smooth sailing and their obstacles seem to invade all parts of their lives causing hurt to not only them but those they also love.
Ms. Vale has done an outstanding job of writing a story that is engaging, sexy, intriguing and filled with passion in every facet of the characters lives. I’m fully committed to all things KPD!!!
Lock and Saylor met at the baseball park when Saylor was on a blind date with someone else. Things get crazy and six months later they end up meeting at a wedding. They both have many people they know in common but it’s funny they have never met. The chemistry between them is fire and they are a good match. This is a short, good read in the series.
