One of Entertainment Weekly’s Top Ten Romances of 2018! I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be. I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance. What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18.They have words for men like me–playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser. My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me.Sinner.Sinner is a standalone … and he only has one word for me.
Sinner.
Sinner is a standalone companion to Priest about Father Bell’s brother Sean. You do not have to read Priest or Midnight Mass to read Sinner more
“I know how to make sin feel like heaven.”
These Bell men. When I read Priest, I never thought Tyler would have a brother that could make him seem tame, but Sean. Good gravy that mans mouth; Forget the rosary…just go grab the holy water and take a swim.
Sierra Simone knows how to put together a scorching hot story. Religion can be a touchy subject (pun intended) and Simone tackled it beautifully making me think and escape into a flaming hot romance I was unable to put down.
5 star Review Sinner (Priest #2) by Sierra Simone
This was everything that I have come to expect from a book by Sierra Simone. Well written with characters that had me engrossed from the start.
Sean Bell is not used to having to chase after women, until he meets Zenny a woman nearly half his age. Of course with that comes complication and issues that must be dealt with and worked through.
Not only was Sinner a smoking hot read that had some amazing scenes in it that were so scorching, it was also an emotional read that had me in tears and laughter at times, such was the depth of the characters and their actions.
Can Sean and Zenny work through all their issues and make a happily ever after? One click and find out.
This is one of those books that I do not want to say too much about, suffice to say this book will leave you with a hangover.
Sierra Simone has written some absolutely stunning books. Her stories are thought provoking, soul stirring and without fail some of the sexiest reads ever. No one can write a scene quite like Sierra. Sinner is so emotionally riveting, so divine in its approach to God and relationships.
Sierra took on some hefty topics and did them with style, grace and dignity. She shined the light on subjects that so taboo in the African American community – religion, racism, interracial relationships and homosexuality. And while she takes full responsibility for any mistakes that she may have made while writing this book, I have to say this. As an African American woman, this book and everything in it, from Sean’s understanding of satin pillowcases to Zenny’s moment of explaining the realities of being black in today’s society to her love for a man who some may call the enemy, honored me and affirmed that Sierra just plain gets it. She writes this so powerfully that the idea of this taboo interracial affair between a very young and very inexperienced woman who is moments away from becoming a nun and the much older very worldly man who happens to be her brother’s best friend with a mission to corrupt her and make her see that God is a farce ceases to be a black and white issue. It simply becomes a love issue.
Sean Bell is all sex and sinful delights. A millionaire playboy in hand tailored suits. He’s also very complex and very torn in his relationship with God. His tragic past and how the Catholic church played a man in his family’s devastation has remained at a focal point in his life. His devotion to his family and to his work doesn’t leave time for real relationships. He simply doesn’t want to make room for love and then one night changes everything he thought he wanted. Zenny Iverson has a plan for her life – to finish on her own two feet, making her own decisions. That means she will finish college, devote herself to God and act in service of His will. But for one night she simply wants to be Zenny and experience it all – life, love… sex. A chance meeting with a man who has been a part of her life since the day she was born will change her life as well. His attention to her body will awaken her. His devotion to her well being will leave her breathless. Things just got a bit more… doubtful.
There are so many jaw dropping moments in this story. So many tears that I found myself wiping off my face. Revelations that left me stunned and had me reassessing my own faith and beliefs. The sexy in this book is scorching hot. The chemistry felt so real. These two people took up a place in my heart and my soul that I cannot give back even if I wanted to. Beautifully presented, masterfully written. Authentic and honest… at times brutally so. This was a emotional mix of heaven, hell and all the lusty moments in between. So very well done. This is one not to be missed.
I never expected to have a religious experience while reading a romance novel…but this story was EVERYTHING! There was so much depth to the story and these characters- and I felt so much from every moment.
I loved Tyler and Poppy’s story in Priest and Midnight Mass and didn’t expect that a more original, thought provoking story could follow those two books…I was so wrong. Sinner touched on so many social issues as well as continued with the religious theme that fits the Bell family perfectly.
Not only was this a love story, but Sierra Simone managed bring me back to my own religious roots. Like the Bell family, my Catholic beliefs were left behind me after my own bouts of disbelief. This helped me to connect with Sean Bell on such a deeper level that any character I’ve come across.
The author did an outstanding job of touching on how the characters felt conflict between faith and kink, on the everyday struggles for someone with color and on self exploration. How do you differentiate a call to serve God in the church or serve him through your actions? How can you have faith in God at a time when you’re at your lowest? Is it possible to blame God for the bad in your life and still believe he can bring the good?
Not only did this story exceed Priest in the “HOT” factor, but it exceeded all my other expectations.
Sinner is another for my Best of 2018 list!
I just knew I had to read this as soon as I saw it. Just wow. The storyline has the author’s usual flare for the unexpected. The book is very well written and the characters are just grand. My emotions all over the place which for me is a sign of a good book. I found myself Smiling, Crying and Fanning myself on several occasions. On top of that the suspense kept me on the edge while the sexy scenes kept me drooling.
Sean is a HUGE playboy and Zenny is a nun that hasn’t taken her vows. With Sean knowing he’s found the one woman he really wants but yet can’t have and Zanny knowing her attraction to Sean is something she shouldn’t be feeling or act upon just made their story exciting to follow. I Truly enjoyed this book and look forward to more of Ms. Simone’s works in the future. 2 Thumbs Up for a very good read.
“The moment her lips touch mine, I’m lost. To myself, to her, to any memory of what is right or true or necessary.”
SINNER will definitely go down as one of the HOTTEST ROMANCES of the year! I’m talking scorching hot, need a cold shower hot, be prepared with a spare pair of panties hot! You get what I’m sayin? Not only will Sean and Zenny leave your body ON FIRE, their fiercely emotional love story will tug at your heart strings, scramble up your mind, and set your soul aflame! It’s RAW. It’s RIVETING. It’s FORBIDDEN. It’s everything fans of Sierra Simone have come to expect from this insanely talented romance writer.
If you’re looking for a gasp-worthy erotic romance with a heavy emotional edge, look no further. SINNER should be your next read! If you thought Father Bell and Poppy’s story was sexy…oh my friend, you have NO IDEA what you’ve stumbled upon. Sizzling, sultry, and seductive…just when you thought Ms. Simone couldn’t possibly outdo herself, she gives us SINNER, and once again, we bow down to a master.
There are some authors out there that have that ability to take you on an amazing journey. Sierra Simone is one of the authors. She pushes the limits with the stories she writes and Sinner definitely pushed some limits. Sean Bell, brother to everyone’s favorite Priest Tyler Bell, is one hot AF man whore. There is just no other way to describe him. Zenny is his best friends little sister, who is going to become a nun. There is just so much to love about this book and these two characters. There is just so much more to Sean than his man whoring ways and Zenny is really kinda badass. I felt so many emotions reading this book, especially the parts with his mom, those scenes were so beautifully written, it felt like I was right there with them. This book, I highly recommend!!
What can you say about this book without spoiling it? I finished reading this like two hours ago and I am still sitting here trying to figure out how to convey the depth of emotion and just the story itself without spoiling it even a little. And all I can say is that if you are a fan of Sierra Simone this book will not disappoint you… and even more so, it will exceed your expectations.
Sinner is book 3 in the Priest series…. and although the books are interconnected (Sean is Tyler’s brother) you absolutely can read it as a stand alone.
Sean defines himself as a “sinner.” He has his reasons and this is one of the central story arcs in this book. And to be honest, I don’t want to say anything more on that other than to say you will love him. He is everything we’ve come to expect in a Sierra Simone hero. He’s dirty, he’s hot, he’s smart and thoughtful and troubled and complicated. And she conveys this in a way where you can’t help but fall in love with him.
And then you have Zenny. She’s fascinating to me. Her story line is amazing. The two characters are connected from past experiences long ago and the details are left vague and I loved it- and loved getting to know them. But the butterfly effect of Zenny’s story is one of the most thought provoking emotional journeys I think I’ve read from Sierra. It was amazing. But the real emotion comes are elected from the reader by Sean. And I won’t elaborate other than to say anyone who has experienced what he has with his mother- can relate. It is clear to me a lot of this book is personal for Sierra. And while I hate that for her- I also think it made it ring true to me and will also do so for many readers. Because you have to go through things like that in order to understand how it feels. So it was definitely difficult at parts to read- just so many emotions. And thats how you know it is a phenomenal book.
Although this book was certainly an emotional read- it was still filled with Sierras trademark hotness. Enough so that it was a balanced read. I am assuming his brother Aiden will get a book and I can’t wait to see where that goes. And also I hope Sean’s part in that story is explored a little more. Mostly Im just not ready to say goodbye to Sean and Zenny.
Sean Bell is not the type of man to ask for forgiveness; in fact, for the most part, he finds no reason to change his sinful ways because Sean has his own religion and the only people he’ll kneel for are the women who he worships with so much more than his hands.
I really wouldn’t call what Sean goes through in Sinner a crisis of faith because he lost his Catholic faith a long time ago, and I don’t believe he wants it back, but he does question and struggle with the idea of finding his ‘proper’ place in life…it’s just that the word ‘proper’ doesn’t quite describe how he wants to spend his days with a woman he can’t stop thinking about…a woman who is quite a bit younger than him…a woman whose faith and beliefs are directly opposite to his own…a woman who believes that she’s been called to serve God…to take God as not only her Lord and Savior but also as the only love of her life.
Considering Zenny’s professed dedication to God, having any kind of sexual encounters with Sean, the ‘sinner,’ could be seen as sacrilegious, but Simone illustrates just how much Zenny and Sean’s chemistry and connection defies standards, boundaries, and perhaps even logic, because their age difference and their seemingly contradictory life goals should be seen as more than barriers to cross, but that seems to be how Sean sees them as, and the more time these two spend together, exploring one another on a carnal level, the deeper their bond grows, which leads Zenny to question her life’s path and Sean to realize that
The sinner and the nun sounds like the introduction of a bad joke, but in relation to Sean and Zenny, they’re the words that should keep them apart…that should have Zenny praying for Sean’s soul, not wanting to commit a multitude of sins with him. But that’s not their story…those monikers are not the true essence of who these two characters, are and Sierra Simone forces Zenny and Sean to be stripped bare, showing readers the many layers of their personalities, the reasons they chose to be on the path they were throughout much of the story, and the truth of their relentless need for each other’s body and perhaps even one another’s soul.
Sierra Simone is a truly gifted writer – one who isn’t afraid to explore taboo topics in deliciously salacious ways. Simone stretches her readers’ minds, forcing them, not necessarily to question their own beliefs when it comes to the subjects explored, but to look beyond their views…beyond their staunch judgments, and try to understand others’ perspectives on love, faith and commitment, regardless of how untoward, immoral, or unethical they may appear to be.
4.5 Poison Apples
Sinner was so intense and passionate and a little bit scary because after The Camelot trilogy I’m lowkey terrified of Sierra Simone’s abilities. She has the power to kill me and I’d gladly let her. The story was so intricately woven that I got lost in Sean and Zenny’s World and had zero intentions of coming back. At one point, I almost fell off my couch because Sean was saying insanely hot things.
I adored Zenny’s character. She was strong, straightforward and her innocence was so refreshing. I love how absolutely caring and thoughtful she was and knew how to go after her dreams. I was a bit annoyed with her for a brief moment towards the end but don’t worry she made me lover her again. She is just too pure and good, y’all!!!!
SEAN BLOODY BELL!!!! this man had me panting, thirsty and so freaking emotional all throughout the story. *ugly crying* Sean, like is brother Tyler, is a broody, growly alpha who like to get it on with his woman in religious places. I mean no surprise there but I’ll never NOT mention this fact. These Bell brothers are going to be the death of me. I was full on hyperventilating at that Church scene towards the end because HOLY MOTHER OF GOD Sean is not to be believed. I am just so in love with this man, I’m ruined for life.
I’m breathless and speechless which makes trying to form these words very difficult. Talk about a roller coaster ride of emotions!! Sinner made me swoon, cry, scream and pant…..sometimes all at the same time. I absolutely adored Sean and Zenny. This one is a real panty melting, page turner.
Tantalizing, hot and passionate!!
This book should come with a warning that reading it will melt your kindle and certain body parts in the best way.
Father Bell has an older brother and his name Sean Bell. They say he’s a bad man, a non believer.
But is he? Is there more to him than he lets on?
Sean can’t believe his luck when he meets a girl from his past.
But she has a secret, and he’s ready to corrupt, control and her thinking in any way possible.
Why?
In the end who’s corrupting who?
Well paced and fantastic writing where the scenes unfold flawlessly. The characters come to life and tell us a complicated story of faith, passion and lust.
There’s not much to say except jump in and read it. Even though it’s part of the Priest series it can certainly be read as a standalone. The big question is why would you do that!
This series is blazing hot, devilishly dirty and swoon worthy passionate!
Sierra Simone….once again, you complete me and give my soul something it didn’t know it needed…..but MY GOD did it need it!
This story was beautifully written. I don’t know how you do it, but you’re seriously THE GODDESS of Erotica and spirituality mixed in one.
Sinner was delicious, painful, delicious again, eye-opening, bawling worthy, and then swoonie and thought provoking. And I have you know, this was my FIRST interracial couple romance I’ve ever read……and I know it won’t be my last.
Thank you for taking us back to the ‘Priest’ world; Sean and Zenny’s story was dreamy, hot, and SO FREAKIN’ profound! But that’s just how you do your magic 🙂
Sierra Simone’s writing is flawless and somewhat intimidating to me. It’s sexy and so very intelligent. She can take an ordinary scene and add nuances and details that put you right there. The depth she gives her characters allows for a clear picture of exactly who they are – flaws and all. Everything has a deeper meaning. This isn’t scratch-the-surface writing. Sean Bell is an angry, lost, over-achieving, dirty-talking, gorgeous man who lives life without a care. Or so it seems. His inner thoughts are telling. Mad at so many things beyond his control he lives by what he thinks he can control – money, emotions, sex. He’s the older brother, the fixer, the protector and what he deems as failure weighs heavily on him. Enter Zenny Iverson. A beautiful woman, wise beyond her years, but with an innocence and vulnerability that intrigues him and a mission, that when complete, will take her away from him. Is Zenny his voice in the darkness – pulling him back, making him question everything? And is Sean the fix she needs to move forward? Their relationship may be forbidden but the chemistry and connection are hard to deny. Together they are on a completely different level. Religious undertones, questions of faith, love and loss, good and bad all swirl together to make a thought provoking read. And let me just warn you – do not read this in public or at work because this story is hot AF and Sean is the ultimate dirty talker. But there is no doubt that you should definitely read it.
Sierra surprised me with this book. I was expecting the fabulous filth I love in her stories. I did not expect the level of emotions and I definitely didn’t expect the humour. I laughed a lot in this book.
I tried really hard to read this story slowly. To savour her words, because they deserve that. Between books I can forget for a moment how her stories capture me. Her writing is so beautiful I often reread paragraphs with a dopey/squirmy smile on my face. Nobody writes erotica quite like Sierra Simone. This book was no exception.
Sean Bell has got to be up there with my favourite dirty talkers of all time. I can’t begin to tell you how HOT he got me. Gah! Attack your husband kind of hot. Forget new panties, you’ll need a shower!
Sean and his Zenny Bug captured my heart and I was sad when their story ended. Perfect blend of heat, heart and humour. Definitely recommend.
Once again, Sierra Simone delivers a book that is not only tantalizing to your senses but challenging to your mind. This insanely prolific writer taunts you with the devilish sexuality of Sean Bell and the delicious filth he wants to impart on his best friend’s little sister – Zenny – after she presents him with an offer that is almost impossible for him to accept, or refuse.
If you truly read Sierra Simone for more than the delicious sex, this book is absolutely stunning in the way it forces you to look at everything from the simple concept of stop, look and listen to those closest to you (something we all admittedly forget to do), to respectful workplace relationships, to dehumanizing race relations and to the horrific beauty found in death.
Sierra Simone touches on all of these issues with educated passion, challenging provocative thought, and often a well placed surprise.
Dirty, delicious Sean. Your book shows us you are such an awesome man – maybe even held locked in chains as tight as St. Peter’s. Fortunately, Zenny has just the key to unlock them.
This book has been a long time coming! I loved, loved Priest and Midnight Mass, who I am kidding, every book written by Sierra Simone, but now, now we get Sean’s story, Tyler’s brother. You do not need to have read Priest or Midnight mass to read Sinner, but you should read them for the stories themselves! Just saying.
Sean Bell is the oldest of the Bell brothers and is in his mid-thirties. We learn so much more about him. He was a bit lost and questioning his faith, but also strong and could be very possessive. Zenny is young, determined and full of faith. She is ready to make a huge decision that seems right for her, but what if its not? What if that is not her true destiny?
Sean and Zenny journey is full of self-discovery and yearnings. When they reconnect, their chemistry is instant and strong. Their story is hot, sexy and steamy. They are both unprepared for what they want and feel. The story consumed me. The writing was superb and the characters compelling. I loved seeing the Bell family again.
I love taboo stories! I mean come on, who does not like a bit of the forbidden! Here we not only get a story with an age gap, but also a friend’s little sister. This story also touches on family dynamics, faith, fears and desires. I have to say, I love Sierra Simone. She is an amazing author that writes stories that captivate you, but also makes you think and question everything.
4.5 stars!
4.5 Stunning Stars!
Wow, this forbidden romance was so poignant, raw and dirty, yet had some very sweet and funny moments as well. This story explores so many emotional and religious concepts along with heartbreaking personal struggles that make the deliciously dirty moments even more necessary and meaningful. Sean feels so angry at God and the church, after the death of his sister. He always loved the church and now tries to control everything in his life, himself. He shows the world how cocky, vain, selfish, and sinful he is. He actually loves his family fiercely, and will do whatever it takes to protect them. But then Zenny enters his life, asking for something so forbidden, he starts to question everything. Their relationship is surprisingly sweet, and very passionate and raw. The power exchange between them is poignant and beautiful. Sean is so complex, multifaceted, and intriguing. I really cared for him and loved watching his evolution. I also loved Zenny and how smart, caring and passionate she is. They balance each other and are perfect together.
Ms Simone expertly weaved a tale of love and loss, passion and heartache, and ultimately of hope and faith, so beautifully. It is so alluring, seductive, and raw that you will definitely feel every emotion. This story has a little of everything that will test you to your very core and keep you fully invested from start to finish.
Sierra Simone NEVER disappoints!
Sinner is the hot filth you’d expect but it’s also so much more…tons of different emotions! I just simply love this authors words! So beautiful, captivating, hot!!!
Sean & Zenny’s story will hook you from page 1 til the last page where you’ll be sad it’s over…
Highly recommend
I want to sing Hosanna after reading Sinner, a standalone, the second book in the Priest series. Beware, Sean Bell, the main character is an unapologetic manwhore who loves his dirty talk; I know he’ll be added to the list of infamous book boyfriends we love and fantasize over. This is a book you really don’t want to read in public; you’ll understand once you start it! This May-December story, told in dual POV, is an amazing and emotional journey filled with sensual pleasure and heartache. While much of the story revolves around the Church, and its doctrine, it is informative and contemplative without being preachy, almost like an interesting secondary character.
Sean Bell, at thirty-six, meets Zenobia “Zenny” Iverson at a charity dance and is immediately taken by the young, twenty-one year old midwife student. He’s surprised to later find out she’s his best friend’s little sister. But he’s more than shocked when she tells his she’s on the verge of taking vows, to become a nun in a month, and she has a little proposition for him he finds hard to turn down.
For a man who lost his faith years ago, and dealing with a family member who’s seriously ill, Sean is having a crisis of sort. He’s used to being unattached, the only people he loves are his parents and siblings, and he’s proud of the professional and economic position he’s achieved.
Zenny crashes into his life and hits him like a wrecking ball. Sean never expected to have such strong feelings for any woman; especially Zenny who, despite her youth and innocence, is a very headstrong and decisive woman. When he agrees to her proposal, knowing it would be beneficial to him too, he begins to spend time getting to know his little Zenny-bug and ultimately, and unfortunately, gets attached to her.
“I’m acutely painfully aware that she’ll never be mine. She will always be God’s.”
And poor Sean, he never expected the plan to take such a drastic, and heart wrenching, turn.
“I want to build a tower around you, and then build a castle around that tower, and then dig a moat around that castle, and then I want to guard you like a dragon. Burn anyone who tries to hurt you into ash and then scorch those ashes a second time.”
To say his heart got involved would be an understatement. I loved this story! It made me cry tears of anguish, not sure if this would have a happy ending, that’s how amazing this story is. And while the love story is incredible there’s another story within this one; of a family facing a serious crisis and how they ultimately come to accept the inevitable outcome.
