One of Entertainment Weekly’s Top Ten Romances of 2018! I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be. I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance. What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18.They have words for men like me–playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser. My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me.Sinner.Sinner is a standalone … and he only has one word for me.
Sinner.
Sinner is a standalone companion to Priest about Father Bell’s brother Sean. You do not have to read Priest or Midnight Mass to read Sinner more
Stunning and poignant and sexy and devastating. A familiar trope stands out in the hands of Sierra Simone. The themes of sex and God that were explored in Priest are reexamined from different characters in different ways, and it’s so breathtaking and mindful, you’ll never want it to end.
“Pure erotic poetry. Sean will melt your heart before setting it on fire. And Zenny is the kind of heroine I longed for in romance as a young WOC. Thank you for doing her justice and letting me be seen. — Nana Malone USA Today Bestselling author
Sinner is deliciously dirty! I downloaded the audiobook for a flight, but I couldn’t wait to finish, and ended up downloading the eBook too. I did not read the previous books in the series and it can totally be read as a standalone. It was my first Sierra Simone book, but won’t be my last! #TeamSeanBell #DirtyReads
Sean Bell wrecked me and my ovaries!
*****
Rating: 5 stars
Steam: 4 flames
Genre: Age Gap / Taboo / Best Friend’s Sibling Romance
Triggers: Religious themes / Sexual abuse (not main characters)
*****
Sean Bell, 36, had always taken his position as caregiver and protector of his family very seriously, when tragedy happened when he was younger, his anger was overwhelming, and he gave up religion, God, and the church and turned to “Money. Sex. Macallan 18.”
Years later, he is rich, successful, and attractive, and the city is his playground. When he arrives at a gala, he is on the hunt for his evening’s conquest, but instead he finds a lovely young woman alone outside. Despite her youth, they strike up a conversation, and he is immediately drawn to her.
Zenny, 21, is a senior in college working towards her nursing and midwifery degrees. She is also Elijah’s (who is Sean’s best friend) little sister who is planning on becoming a nun. Zenny is smart, driven, caring and honest. Maybe she is just what a jaded man like Sean needs to find peace.
Sinner is more than just an erotic journey; Sinner takes us on an emotional rollercoaster of forgiveness and self-discovery (and lots of dirty talking hotness). Sean and Zenny both need to figure out who they are and who they want to be, for their future or past selves.
Sinner had a storyline that had me turning the pages, characters who I instantly fell in love with, and a romance that is both scorching hot and packed with emotional growth. Sinner was so hot my ovaries felt like they would burst, and so emotional I both ugly cried and smiled so hard my cheeks hurt.
I loved Priest, Midnight Mass, and now Sinner. This series pushes boundaries, addresses tough topics, to include death, racism, and religion and will force you to think outside the box. This is a truly amazing series! All my recommendations! Now I am on to Aiden’s story in Saint!
Zenny and Sean have been in each others life for years. He’s watched her since she was just a small girl, being that Sean is best friends with Elijah who is Zenny’s older brother. Now all he wants to do is fuck the shit out of her and he is definitely not holding back!
“I don’t think I can look at her for another second and not kiss her—I can’t listen to another word without needing her to say my name over and over again.”
Zenny is a postulant and is so dedicated to God and is ready to make that commitment to him. She’s so passionate about helping others and believes this is the best way to do so. I loved Zenny’s character she was such a likable person and so easy to connect to. I loved her determination in everything she did, wanting her month with Sean to explore what it’s like to live like a couple was a great example of this.
“Powerful and experienced and so hot I could barely even talk to you without stammering.”
Coming from a wealthy family Zenny has always had pressure coming from her parents to follow in their footsteps. Even though it was hard to say no and follow the path she wanted she still took the step in the direction she knew was for her.
“In classic Zenny fashion, she is a mix of fearlessness and uncertainty,”
Sean Bell the dirty fucker that he is showed me the most growth throughout this whole story. His journey beginning to end was so enjoyable to read. At the start I expected him to be the typical playboy character, I never really thought that I would love him this much. He was a total work-a-holic who never thought of finding love.
“I’m inherently dirty and I have no plans to change that any time soon.”
But something that I found was different about him in particular is that he loved his family a lot. Usually hero’s like him don’t really have a strong family presence in their story. The addition of Sean’s family to this book was fantastic, it made him more relatable.
I loved that Sean’s instant thought when it came to Zenny was her well being and what she wanted. No matter what was going on he always thought about what the consequences would be for her. Their connection to each other was seriously hot and romantic.
“I’m greedy for this idea of her having a crush on me, of her wanting me with all this shy
conviction over the years.”

“Am I your lover?”
“You’re mine,” I say simply, crawling up onto the couch and over her body.
“For a month,” she corrects.
“For a month,”
One of the main reasons I loved and wanted to read Sinner was because of the diversity. For such a long time I’ve been crying out for authors to write books where at least one of their characters were from a minority background. There are so many books out there that feature only white characters and it’s honestly so sad to me. As a black reader who has read over a thousand romance novels (I know, it’s a lot.) it’s really hurtful that there is a noticeable amount of books that have zero characters from any different cultural backgrounds and personally I don’t believe there is any excuse good enough for that to be the case.
That being said I applaud Sierra Simone for writing a book that has a black heroine. To be quite honest it wasn’t really any different from any other well written romance novel, after all she is still just a character with a darker complexion. But it was still nice to see myself in a story and Sierra did a brilliant job.
Race wasn’t really a huge factor in the book, it only came up twice in a noticiable way. I thought it was so funny when Zenny had to change the pillowcases at Sean’s house because they weren’t suitable for her hair. LOL!
“…I’m sure they’re very nice pillowcases. But they’ll dry out my hair.”
Over all I enjoyed the book so much. There isn’t a thing I would change or add. It was perfect, I am so excited to read Elijah’s book! I have a feeling it’s going to be explosive.
I can’t recommend Sinner enough. It’s just phenomenal.
Hot. More than expected. Surprising.
Those are the things that describe this book for me. Sierra delivered more than I bargained for and it sizzled at ever turn. I know you don’t get much premise with the blurb and that actually worked really well for me.
These two were meant to be and I couldn’t have pictured a better journey for them. You don’t need much more than this or you won’t enjoy the book as much as I did. Just jump in and enjoy.
I love Sean and Zenny!
This was my first read from Sierra Simone and I finally get what all the hype is about. I’m still gonna skip her Camelot series because it’s not for me, but this…. this book… freaking fantastic!!
Sean Bell was a phenomenal character to get to know. At first he came off as one smooth operator. A man full of charm, good looks, and the intelligence necessary to accomplish all that he did and to live the lifestyle that he led. In his own words, What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18. But as the story progressed, his character became deeper. I was able to see the infinite layers that made this man the incredible person he was. He was a family man. I loved his relationship with his brothers, especially in light of the anguish they were all dealing with. I loved how accepting and open he was with his brothers and his feelings. I have to say I was impressed many times with his honesty. And then there was the sin he was most willing to commit – to turn a young postulant into his filthy companion. It. Was. HAWT!!
So I’m a convert. Well, a Sierra Simone convert at least. She’s found a new fan of her writing in me. I’ve already one-clicked Priest because I’m fascinated with Tyler’s taboo story. I honestly wish I could spend more time with Sean and his intriguing mind and I can only hope to see him again.
I am such a fan of Ms. Simone’s writing and really enjoy all her books that I’ve read so far and can’t wait for more from this wonderful woman. She is so creative and can keep you guessing throughout the stories she writes. Sinner is no exception!
Sean Bell is a millionaire who makes his money working in finance and investment. He is also a playboy because he doesn’t believe in relationships. His sister’s suicide many years ago still haunts him so he has to be in control of everything. He is the one that his parent relies on with his mother’s medical care for cancer and he does his research and finds the best care and therapies for his mother. Sean meets this young woman at a charity function and is very attracted to her, more attracted than he normally is but before they can connect, he has to go to the hospital for his mother. Due to a current deal that Sean is working on, bad publicity comes to the firm he works for because it was never disclosed by the current owner that he had given some building space to a nun homeless shelter. The owner tells Sean he needs to fix the situation and has to meet with the “spokeperson” for the nuns….who Sean finds out is his best friend’s little sister and the young woman he met at the charity function! Zenny is 15 years younger than Sean and is on her way to being a nun. Zenny is asked to make sure that she knows what she is giving up to be a nun….basically a romantic relationship!
Zenny is attracted to Sean so she decides to recruit him to help her determine if she is making the right decision even though she is sure that being a nun is her life goal but must follow the task she is assigned. Sean is not sure how he can help Zenny even though he is very attracted to her but agrees with some stipulations of his own. Their one month relationship opens Zenny’s eyes to what a romantic relationship is all about she must work through her own fears and expectations to determine what she really wants. Sean knows he has feelings for Zenny but feels he is way to old for her and he is only helping her understand what a romantic relationship is all about.
Zenny and Sean together is so hot and the things that Sean shows Zenny gets me so hot that I want a Sean of my own! The feelings that they are fighting through makes you wish that they can just open up to each other and admit how they feel. Sean also has to deal with his mother’s declining health, the changes he goes through as he realize that what he has been doing might not really be what he wants from life. The struggles that these two go through touches you and makes you wish you can take their pain away and they can just be together because they are so perfect for each other. Sean is just one hot, hot guy who knows how to treat a woman and how to take care of her! Everyone definitely needs to read this book and all of Sierra’s books!
Wow, I don’t know where to begin. Amazing. Lush. Moving. Hot. Some of the words whirling through my mind as I try to describe the indescribable.
Amazing: the main characters Sean and Zenny. We watch them grow, all through Sean’s perspective. Even though we see the world through his eyes, we learn from Zenny too. Zenny’s a powerful black woman, and through her we encounter racism. We also learn how she copes, how she moves forward despite it. We are angry with her. We are sorry for lost Sean, and happy when he begins to realize the truth.
Lush: Sierra Simone has a powerful way with words. Her sentences are like velvet, a complex beautiful fabric. It takes us right there to the heart of the scene, into the character. All her books are like this, this one is no exception and there is nothing quite like a Sierra Simone book.
Moving: the plot, taking you through some of life’s most difficult moments. Death and grief. The more central raging debate about the role of faith for someone who has been truly broken by it. We also explore faith through someone’s growth into it, because through that she is set free from expectations.
Hot: this book is scorching. For all the difficult and challenging scenes Sean and Zenny face, they also have plenty of time for some truly hot sex. Whether it’s sex or love, Simone gives us everything in a contemporary romance.
I’ve said this before in my reviews, but anyone who isn’t reading Sierra Simone is really missing out. She is a simply amazing author. For all the reasons I’ve tried to explain, but something else too. She does her research. Some folks crank out the novels and often make mistakes that are noticeable to someone with the right cultural background, work expertise. Simone does her homework, and while she freely admits in her authors note, the right to utilise fictional license, Sinner reads like a book that’s been carefully thought through. Given the plot of this novel, a type of accuracy matters, the one that makes this all believable. Sincere.
This may in fact be the hottest, steamiest book I’ve read in months. Sierra Simone has never disappointed when it comes to naughty, panty-wetting, dirty stories and Sinner actually takes it a step farther. I’ll admit that usually age-difference romances aren’t my thing but Simone just makes the passion between Zenny and Sean so believable that I was totally fine with it. Aside from the absolute sensuality of this book, there was a satisfying relationship between Sean and Zenny as well. What started as an experiment in sexuality for Zenny, with her old brother’s best friend, quickly becomes something more. Like Priest before it, Sinner is told from the hero’s PoV but Zenny’s voice and feelings still shine through brightly. Stock-full of religious debate, loss and gaining of faith, sensuality, heartbreak, heart-wrenching decisions wrapped into a love story, Sinner checks all the boxes for a completely tantalizing and pleasurable read.
Just finished Priest, Midnight Mass and Sinner!!! Holy Shit! (No pun intended). I have had the first two awhile, and as a Catholic woman, was avoiding them, not know how i would feel. Lemme just say, Priest was hard for me at the beginning, however the way you developed Father Bell, was amazing, breathtaking, heart wrenching, heart warming and just downright lovely! Sean Bell… will lets just say I would love to meet that man! I devoured these books in 24 hours. Quite simply, these were fantastic. Thank you for giving us the Bell Brothers.
It was amazing!!!!
Wow, another speechless moment for me when I finished the book… Sinner is another level of understanding.. its not an average romance.. its dirty.. self doubt… the brink of falling into the pit of sin.. Sinner is the right label for this story…
Sean Bell is a succesful 36 years old man..
Knows what he want.. ruthless.. demanding.. yet he is a walking soulless man until he met Zenny..
Sinner is a seductive romance.. the kind which can lure you to the world of temptation.. Not an easy book to read but I adore…lust.. consume me to the end…
Sean is a man of passion… his is Zenny..
Mine is Sinner..
Sinner by the outstanding and incredibly talented author Sierra Simone is the second novel in the Priest Series. The previous books are Priest and Midnight Mass, they’re Tyler and Poppy’s books.
Reading a Sierra Simone book is like opening a box of pralinés. You never know what you’ll get, only that it’ll be something delicious.
I expected a smoking hot, heartwrenching read and Sierra Simone delivered exactly that and much more.
Sinner is a full length standalone novel. Sinner is not a romance; this book can’t be put in a box.
And now, may I present you, Sean Bell. He’s one of five siblings; a 36 year old successful businessman. He’s cynic and sarcastic as they come. He only loves two things, his family – especially his mom – and his job.
And then he meets “Her”. Zenobia – Zenny – Iverson and she turns his world upside down and inside out. She teaches him a thing or two about love, life and faith.
If there ever was a anti hero, Sean is it. He’s bitter and hard around the edges – and on the other side a lost boy deep down in his soul.
With Ash, Embry and Greer in the New Camelot Series she blew me away, and with Sean Bell in Sinner she did it again. I started reading and I wasn’t hooked, I was HOOKED. I read this book in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happens to the characters. And now I’m sitting here with a serious book hangover, empty and wrung out. Sinner, just like the previous books, sucked me in whirled me around, put me upside down and spit me out. Sinner is raw and it is gritty and my heart hurt for the characters. I could feel their emotions in the words, their love, desperation, pain and hurt.
Favorite Quote: ” ..life isn’t measured in days. It’s measured in moments you want to create..”
I highly recommend Sinner, Priest and Midnight Mass and wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Cinq étoiles de pécheur! Sinner est un chef-d’œuvre pécheresse. C’est une lecture consommatrice qui vous laissera à bout de souffle!
For goodness sake! Sinner by Sierra Simone has left me on cloud number nine. My mind is still far away. This is the most sinful, forbidden and so hot book I have read. I devoured it like the starved little sinner I am. Sinner is a forbidden book with capital letters.
Each page was a twist to my heart and something inside me died painfully slowly. I was addicted to this book since the first pages.
As a Catholic girl I was a little afraid to read it because of the religion topic however this book was something else. For me it was not offensive to my beliefs. Still, I have not the right words to describe how much I love this book.
Sinner is a sinful masterpiece. It is an all-consuming taboo that left me wanting more.
I heard good things about Sierra’s writing style. They warn me that once I read a Sierra’s book I won’t be able to stop reading her books and they weren’t wrong. Sierra Simone’s writing is addictive and tempting and so filthy and dirty (in the best ways possible).
Dean and Zenny’s relationship gave to a taboo a new meaning. They reflect how easy is for human beings to fall into temptation. They made me wonder what is wrong and what is right. To choose sin over good. To claim God when bad happen and He didn’t stop it. We should understand that any Church or Belief is ruled by humans and therefore they are not perfect. They make mistakes. That is one of many of the human conditions. God is love and forgiveness. This book reaffirm me that forgiveness and redemption is possible for everyone.
Sean Bell is the clear example of a sinner. He devoted his life to material and carnal things. His beliefs were shaken. Sean is a sinner in flesh. Money and sex rule his life. But every sinner gets tired at some point. Every sinner seeks redemption. I love everything about Sean. He is strong and weak at the same time. His soul is broken but hope is tinkling deep inside him. He lost faith in God but Zenny will remind him the good in the bad. She will awaken a strong and pure feeling that will renew his faith.
This book is told only by the male character. Yup. You will enjoy the sinful mind of Sean Bell. He is the sinner that will tempt your body and soul. It is so yummy and exceptional to read a book all told by the male character. It is more filthy and dirty, more graphic and so sensual.
Sinner is my first Sierra’s book and it won’t be the last. She delivered a phenomenal story with many shapes and colours. It is clever the way she describes the human conditions. Her characters are so real and human.
I highly recommend you this book. It is a must read you should not miss.
THIS BOOK YA’LL
I can’t sit and write the standard review for the AMAZING words in this book. So many emotions wrapped up in these pages. The words grabbed hold of me from the first page to the final period. MY LOINS were on FIRE and my underwear disintegrated!!!!
GOD PRAY FOR MY SOUL……
Sexy Millionaire Playboy with an appetite for multitude of women, expensive things and a vintage bottle of Macallan 18. Sean Bell had it ALL, the stuff dreams are made of, or so he thought.
God Fearing Women, in Search of becoming a Nun and serving a higher power. On her last night of “FREEDOM” looking to see if this life choice is her true calling. Zenny Iverson, comes from a affluent Black Family, with high exceptions.
Zenny and Sean are a match made in heaven or maybe hell.. The sex scenes were EPIC…. The back and forth between them, makes you sit up and take notice. The age gap and racial difference makes for a interesting banter.
I am a sensitive reader, and this story is very close to my Heart and brought tears to my eyes. Sierra brought out many issues that interracial couples face daily. And did a darn good job, of telling this story so that you were pulling for these two, to make this all work out.
Thank you for taking chance on a taboo story line….. Sierra Simone NEVER disappoints, her writing is diverse, sometimes controversial, but will ALWAYS keep you coming back for more…..
If you think you ready for The SINNER that is Sean Bell…. hmm THINK AGAIN!
Sierra Simone
Sinner is a standalone in the series Priest, you don’t have to read the first one, but why would you pass it up.
Just as delicious and juicy as Priest, we follow Sean and get our hearts torn out.
If you love forbidden romances, you need to continue reading Sierra Simone Priest series, this second installment was emotional, hot, and with a storyline that will capture you forever. Definitely, a must-read for anyone that loves this trope.
FLAWLESS!!
I didn’t think it was possible to adore another book by this author but I was wrong. Sinner blew me away. The second standalone book in the Priest series by Sierra Simone, Sinner is nothing less than an emotional wrecking ball of epic proportions. Sinner isn’t just another ghostly spicy read, it brings real issues to the forefront of the mind for readers to think about. Sierra has a way of building a world with characters that make the reader feel. She plunges into the dark waters of her own mind and brings up shining gold treasure that moves her readers. Reading her books really does feel like being transported to the world she builds, to the mind and pain these characters are feeling. It’s an escape from reality.
Sean and Zenny know what they are doing is filthy, but nothing has ever been so good for them before. Zenny has made her decision, she knows what she wants to do, but the one thing she wants before her new life starts is exploration. Exploration of herself, and not in the knowing your own mind kind of way, in the way that she wants as many O’s as she can possibly get. She wants to learn her own body, what it likes and doesn’t, what it means to feel sexy and wanted, to be with a man. She wants to sin. For that she needs Sean and all his sinning ways.
Holy, holy, holy, and not in the church find of way. Five stars doesn’t seem enough to give for this book, there needs to be more. If Sierra can make something like this, I wait with baited breath to see what she does next. It’s going to be a whole other level of hot.
An emotional sexy story!
Sean and Zenny’s story is so steamy that it nearly lit my kindle on fire! It had me gripping my kindle tightly, keeping me turning the pages so fast to see what happens next and giving me heart palpitations from all of the intensely erotic moments.
This was definitely a book that I had a very hard time putting down. I loved the characters and how their emotional turmoil could be felt on every page. They go through so much angst, drama, passion and ecstasy! I was captivated, enthralled and highly entertained from beginning to end.
This is another amazing and very titillating story that is perfect for all those readers that love forbidden or taboo stories.
