Alex has planned and executed her life with laser focus since she first met her future husband at the play-doh table on the first day of kindergarten. They have a terrific life, a gorgeous house on the bay, and fantastic careers they love. There’s only one problem: Alex’s husband has a secret. A big one. Now, Alex’s perfectly planned life has completely fallen apart, her biological clock is … biological clock is starting to feel like the timer on a nuclear device, and she finds herself drooling over her completely-dreamy-but-definitely-off-limits client, a star chef opening a hot new restaurant.
Armed with dating guidance from her oddball collection of advisers–including her gay ex-husband, a foul-mouthed political consultant, a perkily masochistic yogi, and a pot-smoking octogenarian–Alex navigates the booby-trapped world of modern dating, in her search for a second chance at love in Single-Minded by Lisa Daily.

Lisa Daily, ‘Single-Minded’.
A Novel.
As an Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 4 (of 5 stars).
In general: Love at Last.
Main character:
– Alexandra ‘Alex’ Wiggins (31) .
She’s a talented environmental psychologist living in Sarasota, Florida.
So, she designs interiors in which the building influences the feelings
of people (Feng shui).
Her husband, Michael, is an ESPN broadcaster and turns out to be gay. After five years of marriage he cheated on her with a young, talented basketball player. The affair shows up in a video on the internet and so becomes public. It caused a scandal and Alexandra has to help him so he keep his dream job at ESPN.
But Alex is very angry with him; she throws him out of the house and wants a divorce.
Then the author, Lisa Daily, describes how a devastated Alexandra slowly recovers after the break up. Since kindergarten Michael was her friend, became her soulmate during her teens and in her marriage she never suspected his homosexuality till the fatal video.
At first she hates him for his lies, but also misses his friendship. So when the first shock has been processed, she makes peace with Michael and they settle for a friendly divorce agreement. With the help from her ex husband and her two best girlfriends, Darcy and Samantha, she designs a strategy to find a new – straight – partner. Alex is vey unexperienced in the dating scene, so some training in this activity is advisable before meeting a serious candidate. The result is a lot of comical blind dates with a few creepy, bizarre men and some painful scenes with other persons.
But Alexandra has a strong will and in spite of those disappointments in her dating life she concentrates on her design assignments, works long, hard and with a great sense of responsibility. And during her job she meets interesting people. But can she trust a man again? The answer is given at the end of the novel, perhaps with some unanswered questions about a painting or unnecessarily long drawn out misunderstandings, but all in all, for me a nice, sweet love story.
R. Huiszoon.
Alex is married to her best friend Michael, but he’s kept a secret from her, a really big secret that all her friends and family seem to know about but she’s clueless. Now her marriage is over and she needs to move on but she’s lost her confidence and isn’t sure how to do that. Her friends push her to get back into the dating scene and even her ex gets involved. When she meets Daniel through her work she’s attracted to him but has an issue trusting. Luckily, he’s very determined and patient. I received a free ebook through Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Laughed till I cried
Although Alex’s story could have been depressing, it is the complete opposite. Her world crumbles when she learns an earth-shattering secret from her husband. Her two best friends “gang up” on her and insist on her starting the healing process by dating. Online dating to be exact. Funny, creepy, and downright bizarre experiences abound, along with some painful scenes with other people. I admired her strength and sense of humor that in the end led to her finding happiness again.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
