Abigail Logan never expected to inherit a whisky distillery in the Scottish Highlands. But in the first novel of an engaging new series blending fine spirits with chilling mystery, Abi finds that there are secrets lurking in the misty glens that some will go to any lengths to protect . . . even murder. When Abi inherits her uncle’s quaint and storied single malt distillery, she finds herself … finds herself immersed in a competitive high-stakes business that elicits deep passions and prejudices. An award-winning photojournalist, Abi has no trouble capturing the perfect shot—but making the perfect shot is another matter. When she starts to receive disturbing, anonymous threats, it’s clear that someone wants her out of the picture. But Abi’s never been one to back down from a fight.
Arriving on the scene with her whisky-loving best friend, Patrick, and an oversized wheaten terrier named Liam, Abi seems to put everyone in the bucolic village on edge—especially her dour but disturbingly attractive head distiller. Acts of sabotage and increasingly personal threats against Abi make it clear that she is not welcome. When one of Abi’s new employees is found floating facedown in a vat of whisky, Abi is determined to use her skills as an investigative journalist to identify the cold-blooded killer and dispense a dram of justice before he strikes again. But distilling truth from lies is tricky, especially when everyone seems to have something to hide.

It grabbed my attention by its action and characters and description of the Scottish whiskey culture. Also inspired me to buy a bottle of single malt…though I did NOT spend more than $50.
loved the book, learned about scotch, the characters were likable can’t wait to see what the author does next.
I’m sorry there aren’t more books in this series. It’s interesting in that it delves into whisky making in a very fun way. More important, the protagonist is a terrific character, the village itself is a significant and lovely presence, and the supporting cast are all worth knowing.
definitely falls in the light entertainment category. The background was interesting.
What a story! Loved the setting and the charavters
Engaging story and appealing characters; clever setting
I enjoy books set in Scotland, where I have travelled, and this book is well-written although the plot is very simple and straightforward. The information about single malt Scotch production is interesting to me, but perhaps not every reader. Much of the text is internal monologue on the part of the protagonist, who begs to be better developed, which is true of all the characters. For a first effort, it is not bad, and I’d read another in hopes that some of the early promise of this author comes to fruition.
I enjoyed the locale and the whiskey information. A fun read.
A good read
Absolutely loved this novel. The characters were complex and interesting. The background, atmosphere and information involved in the story telling was delivered expertly. I enjoyed the storyline and suspense.
A good read, hard to put down and I’ve already pre-ordered the next in the series. Hope there are many more to come. Highly recommended.
