This is my first ARC and my first read from the author, and I’m so glad I signed up.
This is a story about second chances and finding love when you least expect it… it’s heartwarming and inspiring. It’s something you’d want to read after a long days work… It’s relatable, especially to those who are or were in a long distance relationship.
Reading this will make you realize that it’s okay to listen to your heart and take risks because some things or people are worth it.
I love the Amanda and Luke and the kids… I love everything! I definitely recommend!
During a work meeting Amanda throws out an story idea off the top of her idea without much thought. She had no idea how much this was going to change the direction of her life.
Luke is going through the motions of living life and taking care of his three kids after losing his wife two years early. His sister decides to help him along to taking the next step by placing a personal add out on his behalf.
The life realities that Luke and Amanda deal with in the ups and downs of kids personalities and challenges, long distance relationship challenges, overcoming past relationships is spot on.
They also prove that in order for a relationship to work both parties must work together and compromise.
This is a wonderfully written book that had me engrossed right from the beginning. It’s been quite awhile since I read a book that had me really disappointed that the book ended.
Yay! Katy Regnery is back with another book. I just love this authors words and her overall writing style. Easy to read, beautifully romantic stories which sweep you away.
Single in Sitka was the start of a new series and it has left me wanting all of the stories now! Single Dad romances are always a winner and Amanda and Luke’s story was wonderful.
Amanda is a journalist from Seattle, sent to Sitka to investigate the Bear attacks. Luke is a single dad to 3 kids and definitely not looking for love. However when his meddling sister Bonnie decides Luke really should find a woman to be in his life to love and support him, he finds himself on a date again. All because of a dating Ad!!!
A lovely romantic story with a hint of humour, planet of steamy moments, lots of romance and second chances. This story was simply lovely!!
Can’t wait for the next story!

Katy Regnery never fails me when I’m in the mood to swoon. Her heroes are always men I ended up wishing for. Sweet, charismatic and vulnerable, they capture my heart Every. Single. Time. Luke Kingston fit that bill. Not only was he an incredibly sexy man, but he heart a genuineness about him. And he was an amazing dad to his children.
Single in Sitka brings us the story of a widower reluctant to move on after the loss of his wife. But with a meddling younger sister, determined to push him back into the dating scene, he meets Amanda McKendrick. A journalist first captivated by the singles ad she came across then enamored by the man she gets to know while doing a story in his home town.
Though an agreement to keep things casual, their chemistry overrode their intentions and ended up quickly changing from no-strings-attached to not wanting it to end. For just a short time together, they quickly realized their connection was much stronger than they anticipated. But they still had obstacles.
This story was beautiful. It touched on topics of second chances after a loss/breakup as well as a long distance relationship. How hard were these characters willing to hold on to what they had? How far were they willing to go to make it work?
To watch these amazing characters work through their fears and give in to their emotions…it was an emotional journey I enjoyed. Every step of the way.
Single in Sitka was a great start to this new series and I’m excited for what comes next.

WOW! What a sweet marvelous story! It is full of emotion and the feels. Love the characters.
“My mouth seizes hers, my tongue slipping between her lips to love hers. This woman. This woman isn’t just my miracle; she’s my answer, my future, and my forever.”
Can’t wait to see whats next in the series!
Single In Sitka by Katy Regnery was the perfect modern day romance that most readers can relate to. A single father of three children and a single woman with a successful career whose biological clock is ticking. It’s the story of real life where car accidents change lives, settling for someone because it’s easy is the norm, being afraid to start over where the rules have changed in the dating world, and trying to fit in an already made family where parenting is a new concept are very real realities in today’s world.
Luke Kingston lost his wife and mother of his children in a car accident two years ago. As a single father of three children he has had to primarily focus on his family. Daily routines change as the children grow and their maturity levels evolve with puberty. While they all have learned to adjust to the changes in life the one thing they have not experienced is someone new coming into their lives. Luke is ready to enter the dating world but he’s not sure how to or how much of himself he wants to give. He’s old fashion and doesn’t believe in Tinder or swipe dating apps. When his sister places an ad in the dating personal ads of a popular area magazine, Luke is mortified until he meets his potential date. She’s a beautiful and genuinely nice woman who is in the same position he is. They both need a Rebound date to help get them back in the saddle again. She’s only in Sitka for a few weeks. It should be easy. What he didn’t count on was falling for the sexy reporter and wanting more than a mutually satisfying hookup.
Amanda McKendrick spent five years with Mr. Wrong. When he cheated on her and left because he just wasn’t “feeling it anymore”, her eyes were opened. She began to re-evaluate what she wanted in life while realizing her biological clock is ticking much faster. Needing to get away from Seattle, she proposes a storyline about the Bear Attacks in Sitka and how their environment is being affected. The paper proposes to do a fund raiser to help the Bear Refuge . She decides to take a chance at re-entering the dating world while she is in Sitka where nobody knows her. What happens in Sitka can stay in Sitka. When she responds to Luke’s ad the rules of the dating game are thrown completely out the window. She is falling hopelessly in love with Luke and his kids. The only problem is their lives are in two completely different worlds and there are three other people involved in decision making.
I absolutely loved Single In Sitka by Katy Regnery because it was a contemporary romance that today’s readers can relate to. Katy has a way of making any kind of romance fun, charming, and emotional. She has a talent of creating characters who are perfectly ordinary people with their own personal strengths and flaws. This is what makes their story extraordinary.
I highly recommend Single In Sitka by Katy Regnery.
No strings attached fun for a few weeks. Just something to push Luke to take a step towards moving on from the lose of his wife and Amanda to let go of her cheating ex. No worries, right? A few quick times between the sheets no emotion. Except when its meant to be an emotions form. Single in Sitka is a sweet romantic romp between a widowed father from small town Alaska and a city girl with dreams to find her one. Luke and Amanda are the sweetest, I love how easily they clicked and found they needed each other more than they ever expected. I do wish there as a bit more angst to the story; I love a good pull at the heart and there was not much of that. With the addition of that I think this story would have been perfect. Even so though Single in Sitka deserves a read, just a wonderfully sweet, kind love story that will capture the heart.

Picking up this book you are immediately pulled into a funny and sweet friendship between Amanda and Leigh. What follows is a heartwarming, sexy and fun love story. Amanda is a kind hearted, intelligent woman who arrives in Sitka to write a story, while also deciding to have a “fling” for a rebound. Like is a widower with three young children that decides to take a chance on a fling because he needs the connection to another woman, if only for a short time. Of course, nothing is ever what it seems and these two have a hot and heavy rebound that results in all sorts of feelings for them both. You will absolutely adore everything about this couple, Luke’s children and how this family finds it’s happily ever after!

This book started out hilarious and quickly turned into a whole lot more. I instantly loved Amanda who was fun, sweet and full of life. She’s what really pulled me into the story. But Luke? He’s who hooked me deep.
He was more than just your average hot single dad hero. The man has real honest emotion and cared not only about his happiness but also Amanda and his children’s. These two have one of those immediate attractions that grows rapidly into much more than either of them could have predicted. It created a story that is jam packed with romance, heat and a lot of emotion that keeps you flying through the pages and ultimately ended with me wanting to go back and read it all over again just to experience that magic some more.
Katy Regnery always delivers a wonderfully written story that has emotion and heart with a realness to her characters that draws you right into their lives. I loved the unique circumstances that surrounded these characters and appreciated that they really had to fight to get to the happy ever after.
Luke’s role as a single father is something he takes seriously, and my heart continually went out to him as he tries to find a new normal for his family after the sudden passing of his wife. And although things start off with a no-strings agreement, once that changes you could really feel the struggle he had as he tried to balance a new relationship with Amanda with his current family and life. I loved that neither Amanda or Luke was willing to give up the things they knew were important to them to make things work – watching them struggle to figure things out added such an emotional realness to the story.
I also loved the way the relationship between Luke, Amanda, and Luke’s children was built into the story. The concern at first about introducing someone temporary into the children’s lives and then how to find a place for Amanda was very well done. And I can’t say enough about how the struggle Chad, Luke’s son, had with dealing with his feelings about losing his mom and not wanting her to be replaced were handled – the dialogue surrounding this and so many other of these issues that was built into the story was just wonderful.
Another great read from Katie Regnery and a great start to a new series that looks to have some unique settings and circumstances. It’s hard to go wrong when you pick up a Katy Regnery book!
I received an advance reader copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
And a Half Stars
There’s just something about single dad romances that floats my boat and ‘Single in Sitka’ is a great one. I absolutely love Katy Regenery’s honest portrayal of her thirty-something main characters. Luke is a widower with three kids, a successful career and a meddling well intentioned sister. Amanda is a journalist, looking for love in all the wrong places. What starts out as her fantasizing about a man from a single’s ad turns into a journalistic journey to small town Alaska, straight into the unsuspecting arms of her ad man. I just love the chemistry these two have together. Both are a little naive and uncomfortable with modern day hookups but both need to take the next step in their life. Hooking up proves to be something they’re not good at but slowly and undeniably falling in love they succeed at. A great read and a book you should definitely add to your TBR list. (I read an ARC copy and voluntarily left an honest review).
Be still my bookish heart! Kate Regnery has delivered such a captivating romance. This is a book you’ll no doubt read in one go!
Let me just say it now: I love Luke! He’s the stuff of romance dreams. I’m such a sucker for single parents and he has so much love for his children that it just made my heart so full. Amanda was equally great. She’s vivacious and independent and a breath of fresh air for Luke and his kids. Together their chemistry and connection was undeniable and grew stronger page by page making it to get swept away in the whirlwind of emotions and feels. Exactly how I love my romances. 5 stars.
I adore Katy Regnery and her writing so I got cozy on the lounge with a cup of tea and dove into this story only to literally choke on my cup of tea when I burst into laughter 2 seconds later. At which point I tried to explain to hubby what garnered that reaction. (he still doesn’t get it but oh well it made my day because that was hot and damn yes that escalated quickly)
So as you no doubt guessed this started with a bang and I felt a great connection to Amanda and the story. And the further in I got the more I was dying to see how Amanda and Luke were going to sort out their issues and start a life together.
Their problems were such normal, every day issues that are faced by mature people. And I liked that the story was so incredibly realistic and relatable even though it’s nothing I have ever been through. All of the characters felt so genuine.
I just felt Amanda maybe planned things a little rashly without any input from Luke who really had a lot more to consider. And the ending felt a little rushed. But I guess we got our hea and everyone was happy, so I should probably get over it.
I loved the epilogue and I was happy with how it played out. I just would have preferred to take the more scenic route. Oh well the blurbs for the rest of the series sound great so I will be on GoodReads stalking them if you need me.
Single in Sitka will win your heart! A single dad romance, that will make you double-check your rearview mirror the next time you’re pulled over. A great start to a new series, and I can’t wait to see where the author takes us in the next book. Highly entertaining with plenty of steamy romance as well!
Widowed father of three Luke is set up with recently dumped Seattle journalist Amanda. Their chemistry is instant, their attraction undeniable, their romance can only last for two weeks. When temporary becomes a lot more, Luke and Amanda must be willing to risk their hearts once again.
I loved, loved, loved this book! Great setting, fantastic characters, emotional plot with a wonderful happily ever after, Single in Sitka is a five star read!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! The characters, the story line, the suspense and the chemistry were all out of this world! I was hooked from the moment I started reading and was dying to know what was going to happen between Amanda and the hot, hunky Luke! I was laughing out loud at some of the things that Amanda got herself into and there were other moments I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This was such a beautiful love story and one that is a must read for sure!

Single in Sitka, book one of this authors newest series and this fun, flirty, drama free love story is just what you need to get lost in.
I really enjoyed that both of these characters brought there own set of “baggage” but were such strong, prideful characters that it never seemed like a huge issue after all.
Each of their stories were heartbreaking in their own right but the way they handled themselves spoke volumes.
I definitely recommend this book especially if you are looking for the easy love! You will not be disappointed!
Wow! What an incredible story! Amanda and Luke are living in two different worlds. She’s a reporter in Seattle, while Luke is a state trooper in the small town of Sitka. Since losing his wife Luke has not been interested in dating and Amanda is still getting over a breakup. As a personal ad peaked her interest, she went ahead and decided to answer it just to have some fun while she is doing a story up in Sitka. Interestingly, Luke isn’t aware of this personal ad as his sister has decided its time he moved on. After some resistance he gives in and agrees to meet someone. While they have great chemistry, there is some miscommunication and just before her two weeks in Sitka is up and their fun is over, an emergency comes along and she goes rushing back. There is so much going on in this story, it is suspenseful, sad, loving and so many other emotions! I loved this book! I was glued to this book from start to finish I don’t want to give anything away, but this book was amazing! I can’t wait for more from the Odds-Are-Good series! <3<3<3
I had already read about half of Single in Sitka in the One Hot Summer Anthology, so check out my other review to revisit my thoughts at the time.
The rest of the book was wonderful. Both Luke and Amanda fall fast for each other, yet are realistic about long distance relationships. I loved Luke’s kids, too – they were an integral part of this story.
Emotional, super sexy, and sweet; that about sums it up!
When this author spins a story she really puts the characters and the reader through the wringer. Amanda and Luke meet through a series of happy coincidences and what comes next is pure gold.
Amanda is looking for Mr. Right and Luke isn’t looking at all. He’s a single dad trying to do right by his kids and keep one foot in front of the other. His meddling sister Bonnie is the one who pushes him out of the tree and gets him back on his feet.
I love reading about small towns, I don’t know why but they always give me a little zing.
The way that Amanda and Luke tackle their relationship made my heart sing, they didn’t force it, they just tried on different shoes until they found the right fit. They had heat, they had passion, but most of all they had heart. There was a certain organic element to how they made things work.
Every reader will have their favourite secondary character, mine has to be Jude. The man is a mountain with a gooey centre and soft edges.
I can honestly say right up to the end I was never sure how they were going to pull this off. How could they make their relationship work? How could they be together if they lived in two different worlds?
Once again Ms. Regnery has done it. She made me believe, she made me want it and most of all, she made me feel. Thank you for doing what you do so spectacularly.
