This is a wonderful story about starting over
Whenever I hear on the news about wildfires and the losses of homes and property of these poor people, I just want to weep. Brooke Ellis is a woman who has suffered much and does not quite know how to deal with it. Before the loss of her home, she lost her loving husband and places and what ifs still haunt her from that tragic circumstance. Her love of pets was admirable and so heartwarming. I really wanted to see this broken shell of a woman get a second chance of love and a life worthy of her person.
Enter Dan Sawyer who is a paramedic and comes from a family of men who go beyond duty to help others. He and his little boy are just the ones to help Brooke start over, maybe even with a new found love and family. I liked Dan’s protective side of his son and how he wanted to take care of Brooke. He wasn’t pushy and when he realized he should have been more sensitive in other areas he was quick to make things right. Dan was an all around nice guy.
Ben was cute and a smart kid. The animals added a nice extension for the humans to show their love. I could see just how big Brooke’s heart was. I enjoyed this second chance at love despite life’s circumstances story.
I received a copy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
One of the sweetest stories of the year! I give this a High 5 Stars! This book will keep you up hours into the night enjoying the banter and blooming love between our H and h. Our h, Brooke is devasted by a wildfire that totally destroys her home, left homeless, she happens to find shelter with a local paramedic, Dan, who has a son. However, it’s not just Brooke that needs shelter but her pets as well. Dan’s world is literally taken over by Brooke and her brood. But soon Brooke begins to melt his heart and begins to fall for him as well. Will Brooke and her brood find their forever home? I really loved this book, it’s a really sweet romance and I absolutely loved Brooke’s character, what a dynamite lady and the perfect one for Dan! I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a nice, clean, sweet romance!
I have read a lot of books in the Harlequin Heartwarming line and while they have all been good, I have to say that this book is one of my favorites. I absolutely adored Brooke Ellis plus anytime an animal is written into a storyline, I’m completely enamored of any and all of the furry little creatures.
My heart just ached for Brooke as she suddenly finds herself homeless due to wildfire but just as quickly my heart soared a tiny bit when the kind and gentle Rick Sawyer offers her (and her fur babies) a ride and a place to stay.
Of course the home that’s offered to her belongs to Rick’s son, Dan who is facing some challenges of his own.
I fell in love with Brooke, Dan and his young son, Ben. They were a pure joy to meet and I honestly felt like I was meeting them. That is how realistic the author wrote her characters. There are plenty of secondary characters that I would like to get better acquainted with, too. I hope that there will be more books in this series because I am ready to return to City By The Bay. Although this isn’t the first book in the series, it was fine to read as a stand-alone novel but I certainly do not want to miss out on any other book that may be part of the series.
Overall, this truly was a heartwarming read with a wonderful storyline that flowed at a perfect pace. The characters are compelling and for those reasons, I highly recommend, Single Dad to the Rescue.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I can’t pass up a single dad romance. Also that cover drew me in because I just love books with animals in them. The beginning of this one just broke my heart and Brooke’s back story had me tearing up. The thing that I loved about this book the most is the feeling of hope through out the book. There is a bunch of characters that are dealing with some tough decisions and there is always the sense of hope for all. Those Sawyer boys will win anyone over with their helping genes. Really most everyone lends a helping hand. I love the sense of community and coming together. Dan’s precious son is too adorable and I just loved the scenes with him and his friends. This book packed the feels and it’s one you can easily get lost in. I’m looking forward to more from this series. This is the first book in the series I’ve read, but I’m going to go back to read the previous books especially Sophie’s story.

4 STARS Review
Single Dad to the Rescue is a sweet clean romance read! It’s the 4th in a series, but you don’t have to read the first 3 books. Those book characters do enter this story which makes me want to go back and read their sweet romance.
A wildfire makes Brooke and her animal family leave their home. With her pets she can’t find a place for shelter. Thankfully she’s blessed to find a kind older man named Rick who brings her to his son Dan’s guesthouse. Throughout the story you get to see Brooke’s way of talking through problems with others. She connects with animals that have been through difficult times because of what she went through when her husband died. Dan is an organized single dad of a child with type 1 diabetes. He went through heartbreak when his wife left him and his son at a young age.
There are a lot of characters in this story! Because I’ve gone through brain cancer I struggle remembering names so I kept a paper and pen nearby. The characters are all great additions to the story. Dan’s dad and son are sweet to everyone. The dogs and cats are cute and loving. Valerie, Dan’s ex-wife, brings frustrations and more. Dan’s little brother Jason is a great addition to the emotions of this story.
Brooke and Dan are both scared to get emotionally connected because of the hard things life has put them through. I felt heartwarming feelings build up throughout this read. Single Dad to the Rescue by Cari Lynn Webb is a romance with life building experiences which we can all relate to in different ways.

Single dad to the Rescue
This is a wonderful story. I especially loved all the dogs and cats in the book. Also the little boy. Ben has diabetes. His mother left when he was young but now is back.
Brooke loses her home because of fires. She ends up staying by Dan’s house. She has pets but he doesn’t want his son to know. That will be a impossible task.
This is my first book by the author. I enjoyed her writing very much. I definitely will read more of her books. I loved all the characters in the book so much.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Prism book tours. This review is my own opinion.
4 1/2 STARS!
An emotional journey of life, love and growth! Cari Lynn Webb pulls at our heartstrings time and again with the latest in her City by the Bay Stories series. Brooke meets the kindhearted Sawyer family just when she needs them most, and it turns out they need her too. The story is sweet with a punch of sadness and held my attention throughout. Really enjoyed the richness of the characters and the connection they shared. Highly recommend!
Brooke Ellis finds herself homeless and in need when a wildfire ravages her home. She basically has the clothes on her back and her collection of pets but nowhere to turn. The goodness of a stranger graces her when she meets a retired fireman who takes her to shelter.
Paramedic Dan Sawyer isn’t thrilled to have the upheaval of pets in his home, but he’s happy to help the displaced woman his father brings home. His young son is quite taken with her and her animals, bringing a warmth to their life that has been missing. When his flighty ex-wife returns, it’s Brooke who helps pave the way to a cohesive life … but who is going to ease Brooke’s way back into living in the city that terrifies her if she can’t bring herself to tell her secret?
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Brooke Ellis has only her 3 furry friends, that’s it. That’s her family, and when a forest fire took her home and most of her belongings. Brooke was blessed that she came in contact with a retired fire fighter, who offered the small apartment at his sons house for Brooke and her animals.
This is a sweet Romance, but the beginning and how Brooke and Dan met was a not so pleasant time. Author Cari Lynn Webb does a really good job of weaving all of the past hurts and heartaches in both Brooke and Dan’s lives taking them on a journey that will finally give them the love and life they deserve. I enjoyed the animals, and it made me realize juzy how much fires and other disasters traumatizes the lives of our fur babies. The author does a good job with discussing the pets and their feelings. As well as Dan’s son Ben and his medical issues. The entire book was very well written, and I will look for more books from this author.

The one thing I can tell you about this book is that it went straight to my heart. Both the main characters (Brooke Ellis and Dan Sawyer) have such tragedy in their pasts that they are broken…broken and just trying to deal with everyday life.
IMHO, this is the best book I have read from this author. It truly speaks to your soul. Brooke is still trying to deal with the death of her husband. No details from me; you will have to read the story. And the book opens with a horrific event in her life. Dan is a single dad and he thinks he has dealt with his wife leaving him and their young son (Ben), but… This man is strung tighter than a newly tuned piano! Both are such wonderful people that their learning and discovery, about themselves and each other, makes a perfect heartwarming story.
Throw in secondary characters that will make you laugh, make you cah-razee, and make you wanna scream and you have this book. I loved Ben, too, as he is such a little man in a kid’s body. So cute! The setting was fun for me, too, as I know San Francisco pretty well and I felt like I was walking around the city, right alongside Brooke and Dan.
I recommend this story if you are looking for wonderful friends, adorable kids, “lost” animals, and two characters who will surprise you when they work at rising above it all. I loved Single Dad to the Rescue.
Cari Lynn Webb returns to San Francisco and her patchwork family of friends in Single Dad to the Rescue. And if that’s not enough, she also throws a sweet boy and his friends and some rescue pups and kitties in there too (the awwww factor in this book is high!)
Brooke has experienced more tragedy in her life than most and shields herself by hiding away. Dan has his own pain, but his son and support system keep him firmly connected. When a fire brings Brooke into Dan’s life, neither expect the mutual respect to take root and bud into attraction.
Webb gives readers a story of healing, of finding the courage to live life to the fullest after living through the worst kind of pain, and of the blessings (and yes, sometimes challenges) of living in a community that cares.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. Great characters and put in a setting that has happened to so many people. Wildfires are not just devastating to people, but to animals also. A story of the goodness that comes from tragedy.
Brooke lost her home to the wildfires. She managed to save her rescue pets, two cats and a dog, plus 1 trashbag of personal items. Rick, a retired firefighter, takes her home to the apartment at his son, Dan’s place in San Fransisco. Brooke left the city 5 yrs ago after her husband died in an accident. Dan is a single dad of Ben who has type 1 diabetes. This is a heartwarming story of how they both find life and love again. It’s quite a ride. I highly recommend this book.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I had never read any of Cari’s books previously. I found out what I had been missing when I read this book. The story was gripping and the characters were compelling. When I had to put it down, I couldn’t wait to pick it back up. I loved this book so much I am already looking for the other books in this series. Wonderful, wonderful story!
I discovered this author by chance and decided to give this book a try.
The story centers around Brooke Ellis and single dad, Dan Sawyer.
Brooke has just lost her home in the California fires, and needs a shelter not only for herself, but also for her four legged family. A generous man offers a cottage next to the home he shares with his son and grandson.
A boy that has type 1 diabetes and a mother that has been absent most of his life. A “mother” more interested in a life of travel and adventure and show up unexpectedly.
While Brooke keeps to herself and has suffered great losses in her life, Dan is very protective of his son.
It took me a while to get into the story, mostly because a great deal of the story was mostly internal dialogue expressed by both characters. Not the usual style of the books I read, but still very well written.
That said, it was a very good story. A story that at times was heartbreaking. A story about family dynamic and interactions or lack thereof. A story about taking chances and living a life without regrets. As well as a story about second chances in life and love.
While some might disagree and say this was a stand alone, and one didn’t need to have read the previous books, I disagree. I felt I missed something by not understanding all the relationships of the multiple secondary characters in the story as well as trying to keep track of all of them.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I love this book. Dan and Brooke are such great characters. It felt like I was right there in this town. I received this as an ARC and I am so lucky that I did. It put me in touch with a fantastic author. I will positively be reading more of Cari Lynn Webb’s books.
I really enjoyed my first book by Cari Lynn Webb, the 4th book in City by the Bay Stories never having read any other books in the series, there was no problem with this as a stand alone. I found the book very well written, with plenty of heartache and angst along with love and happiness tossed into the mix. I really enjoyed Brooke and Dan’s budding relationship, both hurt and determined to spend their lives alone will love be able to take a foothold in their relationship. I would definitely recommend this sweet read to others. I would give this a 4.5/5 rating if that was possible.
