I love how this story unfolds! Dell is a self-made billionaire and loving a life with zero attachments. Until a bundle of horrendous odor is dropped off at his pent house. Luckily on the ground floor of his building is a high end daycare, unlucky for him Arianna is a stickler for her rules. Arianna can’t in good conscience leave baby Grace with her own father. Growing attached is not part of the plan, for either one of them. Definitely a great read!
Such a good story. Humor, a little mystery and romance. There is steam but not the whole book. Fell for Grace and Max, the tribulation was a big part of the story leading up to the excellent finale.
This book was entertaining, and I really did want to know what happened in the end. The story was interesting but the characters felt a little flat to me. Especially in the first couple of chapters flipping back and forth between them it felt like it was being told by the same character. Not really any distinctive voice or personality.
My main advice to this author would be to *write what you know*. The story is supposedly told by New Yorkers, one of which grew up dirt poor in Birmingham Alabama, and yet both characters sounded British. Definitely not American. Too many words and turns of phrases jumped out at me as nothing like what a person from their backgrounds would speak like or behave like. It felt like I would start to get into the story only to have something jump out at me and break the spell. Maybe that’s too nit picky, and other people wouldn’t notice the effect, but for me it made it a less enchanting story so I had to knock a star off.
When I read the synopsis of this book, I knew I wanted to read it. And I am so glad I did, it was funny, romantic, heartfelt and heartwarming. I didn’t want to put it do, not even to sleep. But lack of sleep is worth it to read this on.
Dell Brant is the man, he has built his billion (or more) dollar company and has any woman he wants with just a smile. He does what he wants when he wants. So when he goes to leave his penthouse one morning, he almost trips over a baby carriage. With a beautiful baby girl inside and a note that reads ” Do the DNA, she’s yours.” Dell has no idea what to do with a baby.
Arianna is Dell’s life saver, she owns the baby day care in his building and he needs her. Arianna can’t believe that Dell Brant is asking her for help , but she needs to help him quickly because being around him is bad news for her heart. While Dell needs a nanny, he also needs Arianna to help him get baby supplies, so the go shopping. This only proves to draw Arianna and baby Grace closer together. Arianna is finding out that the more time she spends with Dell and Grace, she is falling in love with them.
Will Arianna give in to Dell’s advances and be his next conquest? Or will Dell lose his heart to Arianna and Grace? Will they find out who left the baby at Dell’s front door? Can Dell give up his single life for a ready-made family with Arianna and Grace?
If you are looking for a great story that will leave you happy and feeling good, then this story is for you. And you can’t go wrong with a story from J.J. Knight, I love her writing style. I hope you enjoy this one too.
**Copy provided by the author and this is my honest review**
I had a hard time putting it down, I was absolutely hooked from the start. Dell lived a very precise, very single life until one day a baby is dropped off at his door, his inexperience with kids puts him in amusing predicaments. Arianna is witty and strong, I loved seeing Dell panic and show his soft caring side. This has it all; it’s funny, sexy and sweet. Definitely a must read!
Far better than I ever expected.
(I’m so far behind in reviewing, it’s disgusting! I’m well over my 150 goal, but I haven’t had the time to review them all! Better get off my coccyx and do something!…)
Single daddies discovering that they have created a new addition to the species is the template of this tale. Yes, it does involve a clueless billionaire by the name of Brant who prefers his life in a terribly templated existence. He has adopted a top-notched retired greyhound who has his own personal space but only crosses his existence when he wakes up in the morning for the morning feed, when he comes home from work (again, for the evening feed), and maybe right before bed. He has a butler who might be more efficient than Alfred Pennyworth (but is more particular of what he will/will NOT do and a little more whiny when facing new challenges). He never has sex with someone for more than one night. You can guess the rest. So when a baby shows up on his doorstep with a note that says that this kid is his but do a DNA if he wants proof… all bloody hell breaks loose, and his world as he knows it is gone completely, forever and ever, amen.
Lucky for him there is someone who can rescue him. Arianna runs an exclusive daycare center from practically newborns to preschool for the über-rich and famous. You want the closest thing to a mother? You got it! You need someone to deal with your terrible twos (and threes) but have an empire to run, Arianna’s your woman. Her staff handles every child as if that child were theirs, assists in their education, monitors their nutrition, and makes sure every babe and toddler is growing as expected. Why? Arianna has a mission, and you don’t want to get in her way. So when Brant appears (literally) on her doorstep, willing to spend THOUSANDS of dollars for her help despite the fact there is a six-month waiting list, and the little baby is just priceless… But who is she? Does he even recall who he might have impregnated during that open window of ovulation/fertilization? Well, there might be… twenty-five or twenty-seven possibilities?… Oops!
Did I like this book? ABSOLUTELY! Sure, it might be a rather templated subgenre at the very beginning, but that when it veers another direction, becoming a very fascinating adventure that opens up her life to scrutiny, bares Brant’s secret background, and eventually discovers who is this absolutely cute-as-a-button Grace and who is her biological mother? Can there be something between Brant and Arianna?
Characters: I found J.J.’s development of the major players intriguing and very entertaining. You can be sympathetic towards Brant, Arianna, the greyhound, Arianna’s staff, even the butler! I always am more positive towards a novel when more than just the hero/heroine are developed with active roles throughout because life is like that. We see the good/disappointing aspects of each person with the writer leaving it up to us to figure out how we respond to them. Arianna is smart but still must determine the path to go, not necessarily the gut reaction that might initially dictate which way to go. In other words, she considers the consequences of the many choices involved. Yes, some overworked possibilities are faced, but she doesn’t take the usual/expected way out. THAT is what I appreciate with this author. Why not try another approach that the usual, overworked one? Okay, so Brant initially sounds like a jerk because how could he had become a billionaire without using his good sense gained when becoming that billionaire to approach the subject of an abandoned child on his doorstep? Well, I guess his empire-building didn’t involve anything regarding child rearing. But he still can be rescued, and that is exactly what Arianna does.
This book obviously had someone at least do a primary editing job. There are still quite a few errors in it that were rather obvious but… not really enough to keep me from reading it from cover to cover, and I was eager to read Book #2 which continues the tale. Does it end with a cliffhanger? No, not really. But it does leave you interested in knowing what happens next. Yes, I did read Book #2. In fact, I liked both of these books that I did eventually purchase them! So if that doesn’t urge you to at least read this on Kindle, then I don’t know what else to say.
Grace is way too cute NOT to find out whose her mother and what Brant will do regarding his first offspring. What is Arianna’s role in Grace’s and Brant’s lives? Will she get what she most desperately wishes? The book’s that good of a read to make the readership want to know these answers.
Cracked me up. If your a parent, do yourself a favor and read this. It’s laugh out loud funny. Even my husband thought it was funny. Great story. Fabulous storyline.
Great read
This was the first book by J.J. Knight that I read and I really enjoyed the story.
When billionaire Dell finds a baby at his apartment’s door with only a note saying that the baby is his, things turn upside down. He immediately needs the help of Ariana, the owner of the child care in his own building.
Ariana is a fantastic character, who does everything to take care of little Grace.
The reactions of the butler and Dell’s dog to the baby are very funny, each with the opposite reaction to what was expected.
And what a surprise when they finally discover the identity of the baby’s mother.
This is a very well written story with interesting characters.
I recommend the reading.
I received a copy and voluntarily reviewed it.
Loved it
A billionaire playboy brought to his knees by a baby and a virgin.
I love a good romantic comedy and Single Dad on Top really delivers. JJ Knight (also known as Deanna Roy) has packed all kinds of stuff into this story – and it works! She’s got:
Single Dad
Billionaire
Alpha Male
Cute baby
Fiesty heroine
Curvy girl next door
Stern butler
Pretend marriage
Royalty
Happily Ever After
Yes, it’s totally ridiculous.
Yes, it’s completely laugh-out-loud fun.
The story is told in first person POV and alternates between Dell Brant – a self-centered manwhore – and Arianna – a feisty, single, businesswoman. When a baby is left on his doorstep Dell seeks help from Arianna and her Del Gato Child Spa which just happens to be located in the building he owns and lives in.
It was wonderful to see the transformation that Dell goes through from the time the baby is left on his doorstep till we reach the end of the story. Even his stiff and stuffy butler can’t totally resist a baby as cute as Grace. There’s also a sweet, retired-from-racing, Greyhound who can’t resist Arianna or Grace.
All-in-all, Single Dad on Top is laugh-out-loud funny in places and also brought me to tears before it was all over. This is just the kind of story that I love.
I recommend all her books! They’re all great
Loved loved this book! From the minute I started this book I could not put it down. The minute Dell Brant met Arianna I had a feeling where it was all headed and I was so write but never saw it coming on who turned out to Grace’s mother. Wow!! Would love to see more about Arianna and Dell and love between them grow and even with Grace!
This was a baby book with a difference that’s for sure!!
Dell Brant is billionaire, cold, controlled, no muss~no fuss is how he conducts his personal life, woman are to be enjoyed a time or two then forgotten, no attachments, ever!!! His business is his life, his control over his business & life as a whole is everything to Dell.
He’s on his way to work via his private hallway, at the top of the building he bought then named after himself, when he sees a baby stroller with a baby girl inside & a note stating she is his, there are no other options, he’s to take DNA tests if he doubts it and no other information!!! For Dell this is the equivalent of dropping a literal bomb on his life.
Arianna Hart is an Heiress. She was brought up by a string of Nannies as her parents were busy with ‘important work’. To save others like her she’s opened a Children’s Day Spa (Nursery) that offers the care & comfort she missed out on as a child. It’s extremely exclusive & popular. It’s in the Dell Brant Building & it’s here that she first meets Dell when he tries to palm his daughter off to her to attend meetings!!
This is a book of changes. An extremely selfish, arrogant man falling in love with two ladies. It’s a slow but beautiful process that had me giggling a lot at some of his & his Butlers antics regarding Grace. Arianna learns to open her heart too. She has to become braver, more fierce & learn to fight for what she wants & deserves!!
I enjoyed this book & have nearly finished book 2 … You’d think that man would learn. Lol

HANDS DOWN, ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING & HEARTWARMING BOOKS I’VE READ THIS YEAR!!!
Title: Single Dad On Top
Author: J.J. Knight
Designation: Contemporary Romantic Comedy, First Book of Duet But Can Be Read As Standalone, Happy For Now Ending
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Deliciously Cute and Oh So Sexy Stars*****
**Disclaimer: Single Dad On Top is the first book of a romantic comedy duet featuring Dell Brant and Arianna Hart. Single Dad On Top can be read as a standalone and does end with a satisfying happy for now ending. The sequel, Single Dad On Top Plus One is already available and not only gives readers more insight into the lives and families of both characters, but also a more definitive happy ending. For a more gratifying and enjoyable reading experience, I recommend first reading Single Dad On Top first and then Single Dad On Top Plus One. And yes, I’ve read both. Actually, I binge read the two books over the course of a single weekend and the only thing I didn’t like was reading ‘The End’ on the final page. I loved the characters and story so much, I wanted more, more, more! lol…
Oh my! I love, love, love Single Dad On Top by J.J. Knight! As many of you know, J.J. Knight is one of the pen names for the very talented Deanna Roy. It matters little what name Knight/Roy uses since everything she writes is magically delicious and Single Dad on Top is no exception. And no, there’s no magic or fantasy in either book, just good old-fashioned and very well written fictional contemporary romantic comedy. Without a doubt, Single Dad On Top and Single Dad On Top Plus One are two of the most entertaining books I’ve read this year. I was completely hooked within the first few pages of both books and simply could not turn the pages fast enough. But as usual, I digress so let’s talk details! Single Dad On Top is a fast-paced, fun-filled, exceptionally well crafted and edited, full-length standalone comedy filled to the brim witty dialogue, laugh-out-loud humor, a cast of engaging and endearing characters, a little heartrending drama, a few spicy plot twists, an attraction that won’t be denied, a whole lot of heartwarming romance, and an emotionally moving story that will tug at your heartstrings. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, handsome billionaire Dell Brant aka Hasmund McDonald and beautiful child day spa owner Arianna Hart. These two characters were a match made in heaven and complemented each other perfectly. The dialogue is smart, snappy, at times outrageously funny, well executed and flows effortlessly. I snickered, snorted, snuffled, chuckled, giggled, sniffled and sobbed through the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. There were times I laughed so hard I actually peed myself! TMI? Maybe, but it’s the truth. I was immediately smitten with handsome self-made billionaire playboy and serial womanizer Dell Brant. Dell is a tough, ruthless, businessman accustomed to getting everything he wants, not only in business but his personal life as well. And Dell Brant never double dipped. He’s more of a love and leave ’em after one encounter kinda guy, but women still vied for the opportunity of being seen on his arm, even if it’s only once. His refuge in the storm is his luxurious penthouse at the top of one of his many New York City real estate holdings, aptly named the Dell Brant Building, and even has his own butler. But even a handsome player like Dell Brant has secrets and all it takes to bring him to his knees is one little frilly bundle of joy left anonymously at his door. Dell may be a cutthroat businessman but when it comes to three-month-old babies, he’s helplessly and hopelessly out of his element. Fortunately, there’s help nearby in the form of a day spa for children located in his building owned by the lovely, kindhearted, and very intelligent Arianna Hart. Arianna is such a joy. I fell in love with Arianna and was so hoping she would find her happy ending. And when these two characters meet, sparks fly! There has never been a more perfect example of opposites attracting or so it seems at first. They actually have a lot more in common than either realize. Arianna is definitely not Dell Brant’s usual fare, but these two very independent but lonely people find common ground and bond over a precious little soul, but it’s an arduous journey filled with secrets, hard truths, several surprises, a few heartaches, and a whole lot of laughs. No spoilers from me but I will say this…. Womanizing playboy billionaire who gets a very unexpected surprise-check! A kindhearted daycare owner who can’t deny a child in need…or the alleged father-check! An adorable baby who captures the heart of two lonely souls-check! Lies, secrets, deceit and a few hijinks-check! Undeniable attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a love that will change three lives-You bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some tastefully written but very steamy love scenes! Hubba! Hubba! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Hands down, one of the most entertaining books I’ve read this year.
This is an excellent story! The characters are well developed and the story line so captivating and well written that I couldn’t wait to get my questions answered! I read this straight through! I can’t wait to see what J. J. Knight dreams up next!
What a fun read! I had such a hard time putting this book down. (My kids got to stay up extra late because I lost track of time while reading.) This has everything you could want in a light hearted romance: a sexy and suave millionaire, a sassy and self-assured woman coming to his rescue, a beautiful baby, royalty, and a fabulous greyhound. Maximilian is easily my favorite dog character ever. If your looking for an entertaining read, this is one is it!
Note: I received and ARC for an honest review.
I loved this book. it was one that lives u guessing and u most definitely want more. thank u for a awesome book
Loved it!! Another great story with some pretty awesome characters. I couldn’t put this book down. If you love romantic comedy books then you must read this one. I can’t wait to read the next book written by J.J.Knight. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Dell was arrogant CEO who always assumed he was the man on top of everything but when a baby girl is left on his doorstep, he soon realizes he isn’t. Arianna knows what it’s like to be raised by nannies so she makes her living making sure she runs the best daycare in the city. When Dell begs her to help him she feels a strong pull not only to baby Grace but also Dell. Use to getting his way Dell soon learns that Arianna is not going to just fall in line and he learns not only to be the best dad he can be but also a better man. I just loved the character, Bernard, he is so stiff but funny when he starts to bend. This is awesome story and yes you will get your HEA!
I was given the chance to read this for an honest review but because I loved this story I also purchased a copy.
