Sinful Boss is a steamy, novella-length standalone with a strong, curvy heroine, and a sinful alpha hero. It is the fourth in the Bad Bosses series with C.L. Cruz.
Sloane
I’ve always preferred company of the four-legged variety.
They’re full of love and they let me be myself–that’s why I’m going to school to be a veterinarian.
When I end up interning at an investment company to pay the bills, I … the bills, I don’t expect to be doing Maximillian Hawthorne’s laundry.
He’s wealthy, pretentious, and a serious pain in the horse’s butt.
Too bad when I get to know my sexy boss, he makes me want to purr.
But am I willing to share my heart with more than just my animal friends?
Maximillian
I’ve always had plenty of money.
And people have always tried to take it from me, either in business ventures, networking events, or questionable investments.
That’s why I’m immediately suspicious of my new personal assistant.
Sloane is selfless, gorgeous, curvy, and too good to be true.
When I realize that her beauty is more than skin deep, everything changes.
Now, I just have to show her that we–and the animals–belong together.
This is a Sweet, Steamy Short Story Romance. No Cliffhangers. This is the fourth in the Bad Bosses series written with C.L. Cruz, but it can also be read as a standalone. If you love short romances with steamy sex scenes, and a sweet love story, then you’ll love this book.

Max is a sexy, rich a-hole in need of an assistant. Cue Sloane—an animal lover in need of a day job. She’s determined to put Max in his place and he’s determined to place her in his bed.
This was a sexy little read, and while there were a few areas that could have used a little progression, I sincerely enjoyed it.
I always dig this type of story: one arrogant cynical H being melted by one sweet curvaceous h without her realizing it. The plot seemed realistic with descriptive POV from both MCs; and the turn of events as well as a descriptive inner thought
Loved this quick read. Max and Sloane had such intense chemistry from the jump. Loved them together. They were a perfect fit. She didn’t take his crap and he liked a challenge. Great story.

She looks like someone I’d like to lick like a spoonful of creme brulee
Sinful Boss is the fourth book in the Bad Bosses series about Maximillian Hawthorne, aka Max the ass, and the kindhearted and generous Sloane Sullivan. When Max and Liam are chatting at the club one evening Max mentions that he needs to hire a new personal assistant. Liam offers up his sister during the summer until she goes back to school. Max hires her without even meeting her and tells Liam to have her at his estate on Monday morning at seven-thirty a.m. sharp, as he does not suffer tardiness.
Monday morning comes and when he opens the door he finds a beautiful young woman standing there. He does not know who she is nor is he interested in finding out and is about to shut the door in her face just as she mentions that she will tell her brother Liam that he does not want to hire her after all. It seems without a current personal assistant Max forgot that his new PA was meeting him this morning. He is all out of his depth with her as he is definitely attracted to her but he also thinks that maybe she is there as a spy for Liam or that she may be after him for his money……the man has some trust issues is all I can say!!! She thinks he is an ass to the largest degree but she is doing this job as a favor for her brother, plus it pays well.
Max tells for that for the day she will need to clean the bathrooms and iron the sheets and that tomorrow he will have paperwork for her to complete and then they will start working together. She is also to stay out of his things and then leaves for the office. As she is wearing office appropriate clothing she first kicks off her heels to take a wander around the mansion, after all he did not tell her exactly where the cleaning supplies were. What she finds is a place that is barely furnished and when she locates the master and has to clean his bathroom she first grabs one of Max’s t-shirts to change into, oh no she didn’t but she did.
Sloane is a woman with the largest and most generous heart. She volunteers at her happy place, Penny’s Pups, she is going to school to be a vet, she has adopted so many animals that her parents won’t let her bring any more home and she looks after everyone else. So the exact opposite of Max.
Max and Sloane have a silent battle of the wills as their working relationship begins. He is abrasive, grouchy and definitely does not play well with others. He also is not sure what to do with the feelings he is having about Sloane…oh those dirty, filthy so much fun thoughts!!!
This is a funny, entertaining, flirty, romantic and sexy story. The characters are great as they battle it out with their own feelings and with each other. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to other readers.
I loved this story. It was short but entertaining and quite enjoyable. The characters were interesting and relatable, although I did want to smack Max upside the head a few times!
Sloane is doing a favor for her brother and working for his friend Maximillian Hawthorne. Max is rich and a jerk which reinforces Sloane’s preference for animals over humans. As she gets to know him better, she becomes more and more attracted to him.
Max runs a very successful business. Everyone wants something from him, always. It’s made him suspicious of people and their motives as well as a Class A Jerk. Max knows that Sloane is his friend’s sister, but what is her motivation for being his personal assistant? Sloane is sweet, gorgeous, sassy, and blows Max out of the water when he realizes just how good of a person she is. When he figures it out, can he fix his mistake and show Sloane that they belong together?
Sloane was so much nicer than I would have been, especially that first day. Sloane’s friends were wonderful and supportive. Max and Sloane were like gasoline on a fire with their attraction to each other. Definitely some steam! I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book!

I struggled to like Max. Really, really struggled. I understood him, why he was the way he was, but it was hard to accept his attitude and behavior toward Sloane. I guess I could grant leeway since he didn’t know she was helping him as a favor to her brother, not because she wanted something from him. I guess I could extend that grace to his experience with other people in general has revealed they only want something from him, not really him.
It’s a tough lesson to learn that not everyone’s coming to him expecting a free handout but one that Max learned well.
Choice words and an unwillingness to listen almost lost him the one woman who didn’t want anything from him except himself. Sloane was the kind of woman who didn’t bow down or back out or act like an idiot. She was smart as whip, witty, and so incredibly caring. She grew to care for Max, not his wealth or his connections. Him.
I won’t say he moved heaven and earth to gain her back because he didn’t. It wasn’t a grand gesture of pricey gifts that won Sloane back. It was a huge dose of humility and gentleness and vulnerability that did it. It was his finest moment in the entire story for me.
Did I like this story? Yes. Max is a character that needed the entire story for me to warm to. The makeup portion did it for me. I love that he spoke Sloane’s heart language instead of his own in the moment. It made him the hero she needed and deserved.

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

Max. Cynical, not trusting, believes that everyone is out to ask; can I borrow, can I have, can you support, and other types of association with his name. For some reason Mr. Hawthorne a.k.a. Max is too busy looking at what other people are doing to get close to him versus those who are really genuine. He needs a new assistant. A new PA because his last one quit. They couldn’t get what they wanted out of him so they left. Liam offers his sister‘s assistance temporarily until he finds a permanent PA. Max begrudgingly excepts Liam doesn’t have an alternative motive. Sloan has her services volunteered without her knowledge. She agrees because it is a favor to her brother. Not to get next to Max. Not to get anything from Max. She’s going to school to be a veterinarian. She works at the dog shelter the animal shelter. Max demands her attention even on the weekends. She refuses. She stated specifically it is supposed to be a 9-to-5/Monday through Friday. Weekends were not on the table. But Max has his own secrets. He’s not sharing. Sloane doesn’t have any secrets. She’s more or less an open book. And besides why would she want his money when she comes from a wealthy family in her own right.? Her brother is his business partner. Somehow that doesn’t register with Max’s head. I’m not really sure why but things just get kind of one-sided. And things were said that should not have been said. Assumptions were made when there was no need to have them. For someone who is so attracted to Sloane he has a funny way of showing it he’s bit off more than he can chew and now he hast to rectify it. How? Beats me. No cliffhangers.

What a fun romp into the lives of snobby Max and quiet Sloane. He’s never met someone like her before and boy, is he in for the ride of his life! They both are looking for someone to want them alone with no ulterior motives. But she comes up against the rudest person ever and she sasses him at every opportunity. Will they learn something about themselves or will they go on blindly think that is all there is in the world. Romantic. Sweet. With a surprising ending!

Max is in need of an assistant when his colleague Liam suggests his sister Sloan. Max does not know what to expect when Sloan shows up for the job but he wasn’t prepared for what he felt. Sloan is on break for the summer when her brother asks her to be Max’s assistant. Sloan is sweet and only doing this as a favor to her brother but can she survive working for Max?
I got a sense of dejavu while reading this book. I dont know if it was the characters or story line.

Max is a jerk and he’s lost his administrative assistant. Liam offers his sister as his assistant and Max tells him fine but she better be at his house on time at 7:00 or she’s out. When Max opens the door and finds Sloane standing there for work he’s floored. She’s the most beautiful angel he’s ever seen and he runs for the hills. Great Insta Love story. Maximillion Hawthorne is finally getting his curvy HEA. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a GREAT book! It’s been wonderful to see Max thaw from arrogant jerk into an arrogant not-quite jerk. I loved seeing behind his mask, learning the reasons for his boorish behavior. And in Paige, Max definitely meets his match. She has a quiet strength, a subtle defiance that is rarely seen. Paige is not in your face, but she’s also not pushover despite being private. Max and Paige go through some bumps and bruises, no no OM/OW drama. I loved how this series has intersected with the Vincent Street series and I’ve really enjoyed reading about these Oakwood Boys.

“Sloane has always preferred company of the four-legged variety. They’re full of love and they let her be herself. Maximillian has always had plenty of money. And is very suspicious.” Enjoyed this. Well written. Characters are well developed. This was quick, steamy, witty, and enjoyable.

This was a quick steamy read, where max from the previous books comes unstuck when in need of assistance. Sloane helping her brother’s friend out only to find herself questioning max’s motives. They are hot and steamy but past experiences make both of them wary of opening up to each other.
