A Pennymaker Tale Housekeeper Mark Sintorella (Sinders) works diligently at a resort hotel while designing clothes anonymously, hoping to get into fashion school. Then his carefully planned life is upended with the arrival of Ashton Armitage, son of the fifth richest man in America–and the most beautiful guy Mark has ever seen. Ash must find a wife or he’ll lose his grandfather’s inheritance, … grandfather’s inheritance, and he settles on Bitsy Fanderel. But secretly Ash is gay, and the guy who cleans the fireplaces sets his heart ablaze.
Further stirring the pot is the little elf of a man, Carstairs Pennymaker, who has Mark wearing his own designs and masquerading as a girl to impress the fashion investors in the hotel. When the clock strikes twelve, two beautiful princesses line up for the wedding–but one isn’t a woman. Will the slipper fit? Only Mr. Pennymaker knows for sure.

Loved this twist in the classic tale Cinderella with a MM twist and an unique “fairy godmother”. Mark (Sinders) and Ash found each other in the middle of some intrigue while just trying to be what the other needed the most. Full of heartwarming moments and cliche situations this is simply an amazing fairytale!!! I can’t wait to read more Pennymaker tales.
This was a unique perspective on the fairy tale Cinderella!! Sinders works in a fancy hotel in housekeeping, but at night he works on his own designs. One day Ash shows up, he is from the 5the wealthiest family. He must marry or lose his inheritance. Lots of eligible women try to catch his eye. He settles on Bitsy, but his heart flutters for the guy who cleans his fireplace. Ash is deeply in the closet. I loved the side characters, especially Mr. Pennymaker. I really enjoyed this story; it was well written. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an ARC that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
This book, the start of a new series, is an m/m retelling of Cinderella. The twist and the tale is unique and entertaining. I look forward to more books in the series.
The MCs here are Mark, nicknamed Sinders, who works in housekeeping at a ritzy resort, and Ash, the billionaire’s playboy son who must get married by his 25th birthday I order to inherit half a billion dollars from his grandfather. As a result, lots of eligible women have shown up at the resort in an attempt to catch his eye. But his eye is on the beautiful guy working at the resort.
Enter a mysterious elf like man named Mr. Pennymaker. Everyone reading the book will see what’s coming but it’s an enjoyable read nonetheless. The conceit is clever, sticking to the basic framework of the original fairy tale we are all familiar with and only missing a few chubby mice!
This is a quick, fun read. Not a lot of depth but enough character development to give the reader time to like and root for the MCs. There are interesting secondary characters who help propel the storyline and of course Mr. Pennymaker piques the reader’s interest enough to have you looking forward to what might be ahead.
**I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion.**
I must confess that I really loved fairy tales when I was little and this one just blown my mind. The premise is outstanding, the characters and their struggles blends in the story narrative so beautifully and it makes you wish for a happy ending from the beginning.
There’s present all the key points from Cinderella story but they are wrapped so intricately and in a way you wouldn’t expect that gives you an ‘aha’ moment that you wouldn’t change it for anything.
An extraordinary twist to a very loved fairy tale with a few unexpected additions that makes the end product an delectable read.
I highly recommend it and the little snippet at the end really makes me wish for time to fly to see what happens next.
I love fairy tales and I love the mm version of classic fairytales even more. I’ve read many different versions by many different authors’ take on the classics.
Singers and Ash by Tara Lain is quite a creative and interesting take on Cinderella. There were some aspects I enjoyed and others I didn’t. I felt the story would have worked better if Ash was a bit older and Sinders was a bit younger. As it is, they’re only 2 years apart so Ash calling him “boy” or “kid” especially after knowing his age seems off to me. Another is the Ash’s grandfather’s will forcing Ash to marry by 25 years of age inorder to get his inheritance. Again, I felt this would have worked better if Ash was older and Ash’s grandfather’s will should have had an older age like 35.
A quirky gay retelling of Cinderella, complete with a rich mans son, domestic help, and a fairy godfather.
I liked the characters, and the premise was very promising but the story fell a little flat for me. I realize it’s supposed to be a fairytale so I might of tried to give the storyline to much weight. So as far as fairytales go it wasn’t to bad.
