“When you go through something, and sometimes it’s out of your control, it changes you. Your first reaction is to just push back against everyone.”
Author Kari Trumbo has penned a story with several subjects that are traumatic to deal with: loneliness, cancer, stuttering, and depression and she shows how they can alter a person’s self-esteem. Liberty Dryden feels alone since her best friend got married and Tom Higgs believes that women are only interested in his fame and fortune. Liberty needs a job and Tom needs a marketing coordinator for his nationwide radio stations. Is it possible that they might be the answer to each other’s problems?
Trumbo packs a lot of drama into the 162 pages of Sincerely Yours. There is a daughter searching for a father she’s never met, a relationship that is threatened by a secret, and a friendship that develops through email correspondence. Could this friendship become more? Is it possible to fall in love with someone you’ve never seen?
There is also a sweet romance between two very likable characters and an intriguing plot with a subtle faith message. I recommend Sincerely Yours to anyone who enjoys contemporary Christian fiction.
I received a copy of this book from the author via Celebrate Lit. I wasn’t obligated to write a favorable review. These are my own thoughts.
All in all, this is a sweet book. You’ve got a guy with a speech impediment who actually does really well as a radio talk host because it goes away when he’s alone talking to millions, but when he’s talking to a real-life human one on one it comes out in full force. He needs help to bring more success to his show but he also can’t meet the person he’s hired in person. Maybe it’s wrong but he doesn’t want anyone to know about his problem.
Liberty can’t work this way. She needs to talk to Tom. So since he won’t meet with her or talk on the phone she calls into his radio station pretending to be someone else. This brings hilarity but also a love starts to bloom.
Can they get past their issues and deceptions to let their love bloom?
I think this was a good read with great characters. If I hadn’t known it was a Christian Romance it probably wouldn’t have smacked me as one as it was not a central theme but rather a little matter here or there. Overall I loved this book and would recommend it as a good clean read for anyone wanting to spend their hot summer afternoon curled up in the air conditioning.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. Sincerely Yours
Sincerely Yours is a wonderful short story. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I loved Tom and Liberty story and I look forward to reading more about them.
Liberty really touched my heart. She had cancer. That is a lot to deal with, especially the treatments. I admire Liberty and how she coped with it.
In Sincerely Yours Tom and Liberty meet through email. Can they really get to know each other this way? Can they fall in love? Read and see.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review.
The characters are well developed. Their situations are plausible and heartbreaking.
While it does OK on its own, it is best read after Whole Latte Love.
This is a very well written book that is full of emotions. The author draws you into the story and you feel all of the emotions. I laughed, cried and cheered for Tom and Liberty. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good clean story that touches your heart. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
This story made me cry, laugh, and smile. Tom and Liberty both struggle with loneliness and push people away. Tom was embarrassed over his occasional stuttering and too many people have tried to use him for his money and connections. Liberty had breast cancer and her friends and employer at the time abandoned her over it. They are both broken in different ways and my heart hurt for them and cheered for the connection they made together. I feel lonely and sad sometimes and like Tom I get anxious when everyone is looking at me. I’ve been laughed at too. I couldn’t imagine going through what Liberty has on my own. Reading this story made me even more grateful to my family for all their love and support.
Sincerely Yours by Kari Trumbo is a sweet romance and the perfect summer read. The characters in this novel had some serious difficulties and it is obvious that Ms Trumbo researched them well. For the most part, I think they behaved consistently with their issues. Overall, this is an absolutely wonderful romance and I think it is a great read for people looking for happy endings and positivity in an increasingly negative world. That being said, I think that the characters’ issues are explored fairly in depth and could be triggers for some readers who have gone through similar experiences. The boss/employee relationship was also an interesting take. I definitely enjoyed this book and would recommend it to readers of romance. I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
I wish this novella was slightly longer. It was such a cute story it would be lovely to see the great aspects of these characters in play a little more. But, it is a complete story with a sweet ending.
Liberty likes to help people who need her. This never exceeded personal boundaries, so was interesting to see her use her spiritual gift of listening and helping other people. Just as in life, sometimes our strengths can become a weakness though. Her tender heart and her own loneliness, after self-isolation with cancer, leads her to speak to her new employer on his radio show under an assumed name. This is not a problem until he wants to meet her assumed persona for a date. Everything unravels quickly.
I enjoyed that this novella was easy to get into despite not having read the previous one in the series. Another couple begins a tentative relationship in Sincerely Yours that looks like it will be fun to follow in the next book. If you enjoy inspiring contemporary romance, this is an enjoyable read.
I received a free copy of this book. All opinions are completely my own.
This was a sweet romance novella that was just the right reading for a Sunday afternoon. This is a story about two people who meet and fall in love in an unusual way. Both start to fall before even meeting face to face through emails and calls.
Liberty and Tom have a few things in common. Both are carrying a mountain load of hurt, they are lonely, and reluctant to let others in. Tom has let his stuttering not only control his life but it also has become a prison for him. Liberty wants to be out there helping others but won’t let anyone help her when she is most in need for it.
There was certainly some soul searching to be done for these two and a lot of grace and forgiveness. Even though this was a shorter novel, it packed a lot into it, especially emotionally, and the characters were well rounded out. I also liked how effortlessly we got to know the first book characters and others who will be rounding out the series.
I received a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Oh my God! I felt so sorry for Tom. At a particular point during reading I wished I could hug him and tell him everything would be alright. What was done to him by some few in his life was wrong on so many levels and it reminded me of how actions go a long way in affecting people around us positively or negatively. I loved how Liberty unconsciously influenced him to reevaluate his life and actions. She made him take control over his life again. Her influence on him was profound and I found myself wanting to be that kind of person to people around me.
I love how their love story turned out despite the hurdles. I liked Liberty a lot. Her strength was amazing.
I loved how open they were about their faith, struggles and how God was helping them.
Beautiful story of love, helping people and forgiveness.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Kari Trumbo’s newest book, Sincerely Yours, introduces an interesting premise to your standard Christian romance.
Liberty Dryden lost her job and was offered one by her best friend’s husband. However, there was one strange caveat; she had to deal with her boss, Tom Higgs, through e-mails only.
Needing to know more about her job and wanting to learn more about Tom, Liberty does something that on the surface seemed okay, but in the end, her “sin of omission” created havoc in her, Tom and her friend’s lives.
The story is somewhat emotional because of trials Tom and Liberty face. I came to care for them both, as I read about the circumstances they were facing and how they struggled to overcome them. One thing they both did is something I struggle with myself – relying on themselves or friends to get them through circumstances they should turn to God for.
This aspect of the book resonated with me greatly. I personally prefer Christian fiction (though I do read non-Christian and non-fiction, too), and because there wasn’t but a smidgen of Biblical beliefs in the book, I wished there were more instances of them turning to God. For me, when there is less turning to God by the characters, it causes me to look up verses to help me with my own trials, thus becoming a teaching tool, too. If you think about it, that’s a good thing!
Trumbo’s books are always good, and you can’t go wrong reading them. I’m looking forward to the sequels in this series and learning more about Liberty and Tom’s friends.
I received Sincerely Yours from Celebrate Lit. However, I was under no obligation to post a review.
Sincerely Yours was a sweet romance that brought together two people who felt isolated and lonely in their lives. I felt sad for both of these characters at times, knowing that both of them struggled with emotional challenges brought on by things they had suffered through. I really liked seeing how they connected over the phone calls.
I felt like things wrapped up fairly quickly at the end of the book and would have enjoyed a little more of a peek into that part of their lives, however, I was still happy with how things worked out for Liberty and Tom.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Sincerely Yours is one of those books that pulls you into the story and does not let go. Liberty Dryden has experienced the horrors that cancer can bring, including losing her job. But when her best friend’s husband offers her a marketing job working with one client to start off. She eagerly jumps into the experience. However, one minor no make that very major detail proves to be a roadblock.
Tom Higgs is a DJ and station owner who suffers from stuttering, especially around women. He has been burned by a woman in the past, so he refuses to let anyone into his life. So Liberty does the only thing a lady can do in this circumstance, she calls into his station and pretends to be someone else. She does not want to hurt him, all he wants to do is get to know him. When Liberty is diagnosed with cancer a second time, she struggles to keep her life together.
I can not imagine only communicating with someone through emails, especially when working with them. With cancer, heartbreak, unintentional deception, and more, this book has a lot to offer. Kari Trumbo creates characters I love reading about, even when they are from a prior book or a future book because it creates a world I want to read more about each time.
So if you love books that are part of a series that create incredible storyline and worlds, check out this book for yourself.
This was an interesting story line. A billionaire radio station owner who is also a DJ, but has an uncontrollable stutter. When he gets around strangers, especially women, he gets nervous and begins to stutter. That is why Tom is very reclusive and stays to himself mostly. This causes a challenge for Liberty who is hired to promote his radio station. He only communicates through emails.
I enjoyed getting to know these characters and how they interacted with one another. In this small town of Great River the words written on the pages came to life and made me long to visit for real. I will be seeking out the other books written about the town and people of Great River.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review.
There are so many wonderful nuggets of goodness in this book that I don’t know where to begin. I was intrigued by the title and wondered how it would fit into the story. Liberty is such a relatable character that I wanted to be her friend. Well at least while reading the story, I was her friend. She has gone through several difficult situations in her life recently and it has caused her to be a bit lonely and isolated. Oh my dear friend Liberty I know all about loneliness. Changes are hard for some people and as Liberty adjusts to her best friend being married, she feels a little left out.
Tom is someone that could easily be a great friend. He has a heart for God but he also is feeling lonely. When Liberty becomes a business associate for Tom, it is hard for them to communicate. They usually email each other and slowly get to feel comfortable sharing things. Now Liberty is still guarded but the way she reaches out to Tom was brilliant. Before I go any farther I have to say something about emails. I have found several wonderful friends that started by emails. These women have become great friends to me and are always there to lift me up and encourage me.
Now back to my review. Through a series of misunderstandings a relationship is damaged. I know Liberty’s heart was in the right place because she has such a caring heart for others. Her mistake was not trusting her friendship with others and found herself alone once again. That’s all I can say about the story because I don’t want to give anything away.
I will say that this story was exactly what I needed to read. I needed to be reminded that people do care, and want to be part of your life. Forgiveness frees us from depression, anger, and allows joy back into our lives. The author has written a story that has inspired me when I needed it most. Thank you for reminding me that I am important.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
After reading Sincerely Yours, my first question to myself is “Why is this the first and only book I have read by Kari Trumbo?” I have no idea why I have read any of her books before. I apparently have been missing out! I thought this book was a great read. I adored getting to know Liberty and Tom. The book was just under two hundred pages, but it was full of emotions. I never knew where the two ends up. I sometimes found myself tearing up at some scenes, while giggling at others. It was such a beautiful and heart warming tale.
I am giving Sincerely Yours a very well deserved five plus stars. I will most definitely be looking out for more by Miss Trumbo in the future. I loved this one. I recommend this one for readers who love to read a well written, quick, and clean inspirational story.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Want Ad Wonder is a well-written romance. The characters, Tom and Liberty, are very likable; but also very real. They have problems that many can relate to, such as loneliness and illness. Their romance is conducted mostly through e-mails and phone calls. The plot moves along at a good pace, and there is wisdom subtly woven into the book. I recommend this book to clean/wholesome romance readers and to Christian romance readers. I plan to read more of Kari Trumbo’s work and would encourage my friends and family too as well. I got my copy through KU.
I loved this story so much! Reading Liberty’s heartwarming story brought out all of the emotions for me. I laughed and cried all the way through and couldn’t read it fast enough. Want Ad Wonder is a great addition to an incredible series.
When Liberty starts working for Tom it is a kind of weird situation, he doesn’t want to meet or call her, everything needs to be done by email, but he has his reasons. Liberty is the helping kind of person but she’s very lonely. When she reached out to Tom without him knowing, they have a connection. What will happen when the truth come out?
I loved, loved, loved this story, it’s made my laugh and cry, a really emotional roller coaster. Everyone needs someone with who you can celebrate life and help you going through hard times. I can’t wait to read Destiny and Jason’s story.
What I think you should know:
Sincerely Yours is a contemporary Christian Romance by Kari Trumbo. The book follows a character that was introduced in Trumbo’s story in the Betwixt Two Hearts. You can follow this story without reading it, but the story was a fun one and helps you get to know the background characters Drew and Addi.
What you might need to know:
Liberty is a breast cancer survivor. Tom has a stuttering problem and struggles with anxiety. Both Tom and Liberty seem to have some depression.
What I think about this book:
As a cancer survivor this was a very hard book for me to read. I found myself relating to many of the things that Liberty said and felt, it is hard when you are no longer the same person that you were prior to diagnosis. It is even harder when you face health problems, and don’t feel like you can turn to those who are closest to you. I did not agree with the way that she shut out her friends. My heart hurt for Drew with his speech impediment and his anxiety. If you do not have a personal connection to cancer you may enjoy this book more than I did, I would like to read the rest of the books in the series to see what happened to the other characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
