This book pulled me in and held me until the end. I forgot that I was reading and felt like I was in the story, experiencing it with the characters.
This series just keeps getting better.
Where the first book give us the foundation of these characters, the second is where we see this world really building up. It’s important to note that this series DOES have to be read in chronological order. It’s impossible to understand what’s going on if you don’t.
Alexis and Kieran are at an impasse. She’s working for him because she knows it’s what’s best for her family even if she begrudgingly does it. Her fiesty is burning brighter than ever when it comes to our bossy dominating demigod and I have to say I really am loving the dynamics between these two. It’s like a power play but without them actually knowing or fully understanding what kind of powers they’re playing with. The chemistry is INTENSE. But this budding connection they have is sweet even if a little potent at times.
I adore the side characters. Bria is just a whole vibe on her own and I can’t get enough of her snarky outrageousness. Top that with Daisy who cracks me up with her attitude and need to know and Mordecai’s unique sensibilities and honestly they are enough on their own. Add in the six?… Man I was overwhelmed with the huge personalities on the pages and thats not even including the main characters Alexis and Kieran. I mean that in the best ways. Everyone had their place even if they don’t know it yet and they work together so well. Banter, bickering and all the crazy shenanigans make for an interesting story to say the least.
This book picks of where book one left and it doesn’t disappoint. Action, suspense.. crazy chemistry and all the feels make for an exciting, depthy read that I was wholly consumed in. I am loving this world and the many characters that are in it.
‘Sin & Magic’ is book two in K.F. Breene’s Demigods of San Francisco series. This is a continues on from ‘Sin & Chocolate’.
Mordecai and Daisy’s have gotten their miracles, now it’s time for Alexis. But is working for a stalking, manipulative Demigod going to be a good idea. Kieran may have helped Mordecai with his treatment with no attachment and the goodness of his heart. But he is still a demigod that gets what he wants and he is determined to have Alexis. Can Alexis help Kieran find his mother’s skin and set her free?
This is one HOT read, the chemistry and attraction between Alexis and Kieran is off the pages. I was gluttonous for this book. I just couldn’t put it down I stay up all night reading it. Unfortunately I had to be an adult and couldn’t read during the day, but as soon as it came to bedtime I thought I’ll get a few chapters in before sleeping. But I was starving, and just gobbled it all up.
Alexis’ character has come a long way since almost being ran over by a fancy red Ferrari. Her powers are unique just like her and her uncanny ability to do extraordinary things with her magic.
Kieran may be a Demigod, all powerful but he is still a man. He deeply loves his mother and will go to extreme lengths to set her free. But there is one exception, Alexis and her safety.
This book had me in stitches at the most inappropriate of times. The Six are wonderful secondary characters that need to be mentioned and praised. They all each bring something to the story with different levels of gruff, grunt, manliness and s*xiness.
But the Wards continue make their marks in the hearts of all that meet them. But at times I do find them to be too much to handle, especially with the way to carry on with Alexis, telling her what she should be doing and how to stay away from Kieran. They are willing to give the Six chances but not Kieran. Although Kieran doesn’t really give them the chance to know him like he is with Alexis.
Bria is such a great new addition to this growing “family” of misfits. Her no filter and bluntness is refreshing considering all the secrecy and manipulation that goes on in this book.
But this scene deserves its own recognition as it stood out.
“You just had the one,” Bria said, shouldering her pack. “And she’s half your size, I might add. That chick ward is a nut. She doesn’t do anything like normal people. She’s like a little gremlin. Then the shifter kid plays off of her, and suddenly I’m under siege.”
A bit of a heads up, this book contains hot, steamy, intimate, s*xual moments between Kieran and Alexis.
In the next installment of the Demigods of San Francisco, Kieran and Alexis move forward with the plan to free his mother. Kieran and his team train Alexis, Daisy and Mordecai so they can protect themselves, but also rise to their fullest potential. Once Alexis and Kieran get past their first task, Kieran tries to push Alexis away in order to protect her from his father. She moves onto a plan with Bria in order to find a missing puzzle piece to the plan to take down Kieran’s father. Once they do, there is no way to know what happens next. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Sin and Salvation.
After reading book 1, I immediately delved into book 2. I couldn’t put it down.
While the first focused on the resistance to Kieran’s charms and interest in Alexis’ magic, Sin & Magic throws in a good deal of action to propel you through the plot. We met new characters, learned more about familiar faces, and got thrust further into the mystery surrounding Kieran’s mother’s spirit. There were many scenes that held me on the edge of my seat as we watched Alexis step into a situation she’d rather not be in, and where Kieran would struggle with his feelings and need to protect Alexis while still wanting her help.
It was an even more enjoyable read than the first, and I’m eager to see what comes next.
Warning! This is a series & must be read in order. That being said, it’s well worth it! “The Six” become more “human” to and likable to Alexis, Daisy & Mordecai, & Keiran introduces Alexis to Bria who is supposed to teach her how to control her powers. Suprisingly, nobody realizes just how powerful Alexis truly is, including Bria! Keiran wants to send Alexis and her family far away from the danger to come, but she will have no part of it. I can’t wait to start reading “Sin & Salvation”.
The story keeps getting better!
Book 2 does not disappoint. The story and the MC’s keep getting better with each book. With new character additions the storyline grows adding more suspense, adventure and action (plus some really hot sexy time). This one is again very laugh out loud funny and sexy. K.F. Breene has created very interesting and loveable characters that make you feel like they could be your neighbors or your best friends. I would love to get to know them and hang out with them all. This series has been taking us readers on a wild ride that we don’t want to ever end! Can’t wait for book 3!
It’s great to read a book that brings all the good ingredients to the story: steamy romance, mystery, adventures, and friendship. It’s great to realize that the narrative doesn’t lose its pace and surprise. Quite the contrary, it turn out to be more agile.
Great book!!! I listened to the audiobook which really brought the book to life. Alexis is such a strong character and finds herself in some of the most interesting situations. I love the family dynamic that continues to grow and get larger. The steamy parts were good too and definitely necessary.
I’m really enjoying this series. It was a delightful read. I highly recommend it.
Another great book by K.F. Breene. Love this series and would recommend to everyone looking for romance, action, and fast-paced.
This whole series was such an engaging read. I read the 1st two books and can’t wait for book 3 to come out in March.
I loved Sin & Chocolate, but Sin & Magic was even better!
There were so many things I loved about this book. I loved the amazing characters, the snarky humour, the action and intrigue and the fast paced action of the book. I also loved that we saw a different side to Kieran. I mean he was hot when he was a controlling and domineering alpha-hole, but he was absolutely swoon-some when he was a caring, bossy, control freak of a Demigod.
His fingers squeezed my upper arms, edging up to the line of painful.
I shifted, edging up to the line of kicking him in the balls.
Lexi continues to be the same scatty hot-mess that you can only fall more and more in love with. Seriously I could change sides for that girl. There is just something so endearing about her, not to mention her two rule-breaking charges, Daisy and Mordechai.
“Ew,” Daisy said, her fingers digging into my arm. I had to agree. This was
one of the grossest things I’d seen, and given that I’d been working with
dead bodies, that was really saying something.
The chemistry between Lexi and Kieran was scorching, and thank goodness that they finally got to bumping uglies in this book. I SO want this pair to find their HEA, they both deserve some love and peace in their lives.
The train of terrible ideas was screaming down the tracks, and I didn’t
want to jump. I wanted to ride it all the way in. Such bad news.
One of the best things about this series, and KF Breene books, are the secondary characters. They have so much depth and personality that they jump off the page and really deserve their own books too. I loved getting to know more about some of ‘The Six’ and howled with laughter at some of Bria’s antics. The story also made significant progress, which is another really big positive. The end game is bringing down Kieran’s dad, within this are lots of plot strands and side stories, some of which drew to a conclusion in this book.
Absolutely loved this book! I loved the first one as well and wasn’t disappointed at all with the development with her and Kieren or the plot of his father. Alexa humbly steps into more of her power and the twist with Keiren- OMG the freaking best. Can’t wait. I REPEAT> I Can’t wait for book three.
KF Breene has the ability to write characters that I desperately fall in love with – and this book is no exception.
i LOVE all of this author’s books. her heroines are realistic and awesome. and the series are not just copycats of each other.
Book 2 in this Demigod of San Francisco series, this continues straight after book 1, and wowzer what a fantastic read, I absolutely loved it!!!
I’m really hooked with this storyline, the fabulous power that Alexis has is truly awesome and she’s only just beginning to learn how to use it and has not yet tapped into her potential!! The kids, Daisy and Mordecai, each have their own training things going on and some growing up to do – they have such a unique and loving family dynamic these three, so different from each other but so fantastic together!
Kieran and Alexis’ relationship is certainly hotting up in this one!! I love Kieran and and his ways!! We also learn more about The Six and their different personalities and unique talents – can’t wait to learn more about them.
We are also introduced to a new character, Bria – what an absolute riot she is, I loved her, full of sass and fire and so funny with it too – Bria and Alexis are like yin and yang but I loved their antics and what they both get up to in this book!!
I’m really looking forward to the next installment of this series, I’m thoroughly enthralled in the storyline and all the unique PNR talents on show here, I can’t wait to read more. A fabulous 5 star read!!
Book number two is as awesome as book 1. They is so much going on in this magnificent world created by KF Breene. The characters keep growing. It’s a sassy story and Bria, she has come in to lighten up their little family. There’s nothing I didn’t like. Kieran is still my favorite but Alexis, the Six, Bria, they all make me smile. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
This series overall lacks the spark that makes a good book great but remains a good read with good characters. Better than average paranormal romance, but it stretches belief in how fast the heroine’s powers grow. Bria is a good addition to the cast.
The adventure, mischief and mayhem continues in Book 2! We are introduced a great new character, Bria who will leave you in stitches as well as getting to know the rest of the crew better. The sparks between Lexi and Keiran fly out of control and leave Lexi mindless. The creep factor is ratcheted up a few notches as well.
I loved Sin & Magic and cannot wait until the next book! That being said, I usually do not read reviews because I never agree with them but I was curious about the 3 star reviews on Sin & Magic. I was surprised to read that some people think that Lexi & Keiran are weak.
Lexi is (as are all of K.F. Breene’s female leads) a very strong woman. She does not need a man to make her stronger. Keiran does make her weak in the knees and go out of her mind with want but that is not a sign of weakness.
“…if you think I’m going to let you walk into danger all by yourself, after everything you’ve done for me and my family, you’ve got a screw loose. I’m in this now, Kieran. I might not know what the hell I’m doing, and I might not be an incredible asset like the others, but I’m really good at plucking souls out of dead bodies. And I’m excellent at banishing souls. And communicating with them. And that’s something.”
Does this really sound like a weak woman? No, it sounds like a woman who, even though she is afraid she is willing to stand up for what is right, to fight with all she has, and do whatever it takes to help the ones she cares about.
Keiran is not weak because he is thinking of the safety of Lexi and her family. He wants to keep them out of danger. He is not unsure of himself just because he thinks he may not have enough power to over throw his father in what is coming. He is being realistic.
They are both realistic and get help from their friends, drawing strength from those connections and becoming stronger. They are forming a family and creating the strongest ties through these relationships and from what book 2 shows us, they are seriously going to need all the strength they can get for what lies ahead!
