Getting too close could end their friendship… for one lifetime, thanks. Getting left at the altar will do that to a woman.
Being apart could end their lives…
Logan’s reputation is more than a little exaggerated, and he’s never cared. Until Grace. She’s worth risking his heart again, if he can convince the brave, independent woman he’s not the playboy he seems. Right now she needs a friend…and a protector. Someone has already targeted them both—twice. Logan suspects he gained an enemy for his part in his boss’s recent failed business deal. But until he’s sure, he’s keeping Grace close. Achingly, torturously close… And when things turn deadly, he’ll lay everything on the line to make her his.

Deadly Surrender is Logans story and it was better then I hoped. Grace and Logan are best friends and hopeless flirts but only with each other. Logan has finally fallen in love and he needs to convince Grace he is serious. Packed full of action and danger, will Logan and Gracce get a happily ever after or will a threat tear them apart.
This is a friends-to-lovers romantic suspense novel set at Christmas in Las Vegas. Logan and Grace have been friends for a long time. They’re attracted to each other, but refuse to move on it because they don’t want to rock the boat of friendship. Somebody has to make a move and when he finally does, it’s hot.
Grace was jilted by her former fiance and it left her shy and not wanting to get involved with anyone again. But she knows Logan. She knows what makes him tick. She wasn’t planning on becoming his fake girlfriend in order to thwart his parents’ questions of when he’s going to settle down. But by then, things are already smoking between her and Logan and things got real in a hurry.
While they’re exploring this new facet of their relationship, somebody is trying to kill one or both of them. The list of suspects is short, but that doesn’t mean it’s obvious. It had a nice twist at the end.
The book is intriguing with a lot of action both inside the bedroom and out, great characters and a heck of a love story. Everybody deserves a happily ever after. Right? Most people strive for it and some get it, some of us don’t. It’s damn hard to get it after life has kicked you around and you don’t want to risk your heart again, even with someone you know well.
It was sweet to see characters from other novels, especially Vadim, but the book can be read as a stand-alone.
Great characters. Great story. Great series.
5 Stars
This book and this couple are pure romantic perfection! As best friends, and perfect complements to one another, Logan and Grace become the couple anyone would envy. The thing is, someone has decided they don’t want them happy, or alive! While their relationship is moving to the next level, they are also running for their lives from an unknown danger. What we, as the reader, get is action, suspense, passion and definitely some laughs, while we watch these two friends create a relationship any person would dream of having, all while living with an intense situation. I love Logan and Grace and have to say I would love more from them!!

This is book 5 in the Serafina series and while this could be read as a stand alone, I recommend that you read the previous books before reading this one so that you can meet these characters and understand all the different relationships. In this one we finally get Logan and Grace’s story! Grace came to Vegas to have a fresh start after the way her ex left her. And when making a new group of friend’s, she meet’s Logan. And they become the best of friend’s, even if she secretly daydreams about more with him. But she also believes that Logan is a player and she doesn’t want to get hurt again. Especially when she knows that he could hold her whole heart. Logan’s reputation is more than exaggerated. And he never really cared, until he met Grace. Now he is just trying to gain her trust and show her that he is more than his reputation. And that he wants her for the long haul. But when someone starts targeting them both, not only will he keep her safe but he will show her what they could have together if she could just take a chance.
I really liked this one! Logan is this stand up guy who yes likes to flirt. But he never takes things further that. He knows what he wants and works towards it, no matter what he has to do. I loved him! He is super protective but he is also loving and sweet. Grace has been through things that no woman should have to go through. And it definitely left it’s scars on her. My only drawback with her was that she couldn’t seem to see that Logan was different even though she is his “best friend”. But once they figured out their issues? Beautiful couple and relationship! This one seemed to have everything-action, laughter, love, and truly caring people. Another great read!
This is another romantic suspense story in the Serafina series by Katie Reus. This one is about Logan MacNeil, a security agent who works for Wyatt who owns the Serafina Casino and other business dealings. He’s also the twin of Roman and has a reputation as a player and flirt. Truthfully he’s still a flirt but not a player as he was in his youth. Within the circle of friends we’ve met is Grace Foster a school guidance counselor. She moved from the LA area after being left at the altar by her cheating fiance Kevin. Logan noticed her right away when she joined the group and given her time to heal before he moved to start dating her. When he spies Grace running into her ex he comes to her rescue pretending they are a couple. He later asks her to be his fake girlfriend when his parents come into town for the holidays. Logan slowly works on Grace’s heart eventually letting her know this relationship is real for him. During all this someone has been attacking them. We spend the story watching love grow and discovering who is trying to kill them.
I really enjoy Katie’s romantic suspense stories. This is a quick read that gives us visits into some of her previous characters and series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Deadly Surrender is the fifth book in Katie Reus’s The Serafina: Sin City series. It IS a standalone book, though I always recommend a series for a richer reading experience. I’m a long-time fan of Ms. Reus, and I have never read a book of hers that I’ve yet to hate…or even dislike a little bit. And I can still say that after reading this book.
Grace and Logan have a great friendship. And despite her attraction to Logan, Grace doesn’t want to risk losing that friendship. But when trouble comes, she realizes that sometimes it’s worth the risk to let go and let love in.
NICUnurse’s Rating: It’s sometimes hard to come up with something new to say when it comes to the authors I truly love to read their books. And Katie Reus is definitely high up on that list. She’s there for a reason––she always delivers a good romantic suspense story. Deadly Surrender was a great read from page one, and I literally didn’t put it down until I was at the end. Pretty much par for the course for her books! It was fast-paced, with many twists and turns and a few steamy scenes, and a happily ever after at the end. The perfect equation for a fabulous romantic suspense! Honestly, I know I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again…it’s really hard to go wrong with any book by Katie Reus!
I give Deadly Surrender 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Deadly Surrender is a story of contrasts. Good vs evil and shades of gray. This is a bodyguard tale with a twist and thoroughly enjoyable. Everybody knows a guy like Logan. Gorgeous, always friendly, flirty and smiling but nobody takes him seriously. But he is dead set serious about making Grace his own. I really enjoyed this bodyguard to lovers story because who can resist Logan determined. I liked that he isn’t all powerful but he does his very best.
Although this is book five in the series, it can be read as a standalone, but I would highly recommend the entire series as it is amazing! Logan McNeil, works for Wyatt Christiansen’s private security firm. He has long wanted to be more than a friend to Grace Foster, but is giving her time to recover from being jilted by her fiancé. When her ex-fiancé arrives in Vegas, Logan steps in as her new love interest. He has worked some dangerous missions and after attempts are made on their lives, her protection is now his only mission. The entire Serafina team are investigating, but could Grace’s ex have a grudge to settle as well? Will Grace realize that Logan is very serious about a relationship with her before the danger escalates beyond their control? Suspense, HOT romance and a thrilling story that you won’t want to end. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Though this book struck a major high note with me in regards to Logan, the alpha protective good guy hero, Grace, the heroine rather ruined it for me. You see, he was determined to finally take their great friendship to the next level he’s patiently been wanting for a long time…love. But first, he has to convince this knucklehead, hand wringing, insecure, doubting Thomas woman to give him a chance. Yeah, I get she’s got emotional baggage from her ex-fiance, but from someone who claims to respect/think so highly of Logan, she made some low life assumptions. The guy deserved better and more credit, folks. I found him to be incredibly awesome. Heck, he’s even been celibate for quite a while before and after meeting Grace. So you know she had not seen him chasing after other women. He’s had time to already prove his good character. She should judge him on the man she knows him to be now, not based on rumors from his past. I found myself wondering why he thought she was so special. After all, she became the user here by accepting smexy between the sheets with him knowing she would be rejecting his heart in the long run.
The writing itself just didn’t quite measure up to what I normally expect of this author, either. Despite throwing in a couple, near miss, life-threatening situations, I was surprisingly bored. It just did not feel like a whole lot of effort or thought was put into regarding certain aspects, especially with the bad guy drama. Steam often replaced the lackluster plot/weak concept for a believable, evil bad guy scenario. Her “I’m not exciting/good enough for him” mantra got old.
Don’t get me wrong. As usual, she gave us a totally awesome, protective hero I absolutely loved see get his leading lady love. His determination and willingness to put his heart on the line was sweet. The rest just didn’t live up to my expectations.
The shirtless cover pretty much says it all. At least how Grace perceived Logan. He seems to be striking a Ken Barbie doll pose. Yeah, he’s got a hot muscular body. How could we forget? Too often Grace went on and on about those muscles and how they could never be more than friends, because he’d dump her eventually. Her doubts, fears, insecurities became annoying. I wanted to tap her on the shoulder and tell her to get over herself and give love a chance.
For me, this book played out repetitive and robotic. Here’s to hoping others really enjoy it. I am normally a huge fan of this author. I certainly wish her continued writing success. This book seemed geared for those looking for a quick lusty/steamy read featuring a great alpha good guy and don’t overly care about the rest being just an average read.
Title: Deadly Surrender, Series: The Serafina: Sina City (Book 5), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 241, stand-alone but part of a series, very steamy scenes, alpha protective good guy hero, sweet/hand wringing/too insecure of herself heroine, ex-fiance makes a brief appearance, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle, romance safe, years before meeting the heroine he briefly was a manho.

Wow Katie Reus really knows how to weave all the romantic, intense and suspenseful elements together to tell one heck of a story! Add in the incredible characters she develops and you have yourself a fantastic series going on.
Grace and Logan have unbelievable chemistry and are very attracted to each other. They are also very good friends. The fear to mess that up and take their relationship to the next level is real for both of them. More so for Grace. Logan knows what he wants but he needs to convince Grace he is a safe bet. Until a different kind of fear for their lives accelerates them to that next level for fear they may lose that opportunity and each other.
Unfortunately I have not read the other books in this series but I will certainly remedy that having read this amazing book and meeting some of the other characters!
I received this ARC via the publisher through Netgalley.
This is a really fun book. Grace and Logan are the cutest couple. A friends to lovers story wrapped in intrigue.
Yes, there’s danger, yes there’s sexy scenes, but it’s the interaction between these two that just got me. It was those quiet times when they were just having conversations and flirting that made the book for me.
It was also fun revisiting some of the older couples from previous books in the series as well.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
I love Katie Reus’s work and this particular series is one of my favourites so I was delighted when I saw we where returning. This is Logan and Graces story
Grace is definitely gun shy been stood up at the alter will do that to you and she definitely isn’t going to take up with a known playboy and flirt like Logan He is perfect friend material but he will never be anything else The only thing is he is determined that she will be his and the reputation he has isn’t who he is anymore Can he convince her that he is the man for her and that he is all in. When danger threatens them and they don;t know if it someone after her or him he will step up to keep her safe and all his alpha tendencies will come to the fore. Can he keep her safe and can he break down her walls You will have to read to see
Logan may have well and truly earned the reputation of a playboy but ever since he met Grace, he’s been a one woman man – even if she won’t give him the time of day as more than a friend!
Logan could use that flirty, sexy smile to take over the world in Grace’s opinion! Grace is extremely gun-shy after the horrific experience with her ex. Not happy with cheating in her, he then dumped the girlfriend and married and impregnated ANOTHER woman! Grace refuses to be taken in by what she sees as another playboy in Logan. But if she just looked deeper she’d see that Logan can focus and attain what he sets his mind on. He wants her and he’s not above using his family to get her!
Great suspenseful story, you’re never quite sure who is after, is it Grace who is the target or Logan? Is it the Ex, the failed business partner or an unknown enemy? Totally loved the way Logan gets Grace to capitulate to being his “fake” girlfriend to appease his mother! He’s totally got another plan to reel her in to being his girlfriend – he just won’t tell her LOL
DEADLY SURRENDER (The Serafina Sin City Book 5) By Katie Reus
I loved this visit back to the Serafina in Las Vegas. Deadly Surrender is the 5th book in this well written series. This friends to lovers romance is very addictive. Logan is gorgeous, swoon worthy, has a reputation for being a player, and is a member of Wyatt Christianson’s security team. Grace is a school guidance counselor who is building herself back after being left at the alter from her ex-fiance.
When an awkward encounter with her ex brings Logan racing to her rescue, their secret mutual interest is set on fire. One passionate, blazing hot encounter leaves Grace second guessing herself and Logan. When someone starts trying to kill them, Logan is using all his resources to find out who wants them dead. This story has everything, drama, intrigue, suspense, smokin’ hot chemistry and great well developed characters. This is a definite 5 star book.
s
Sooo long! I have been waiting for Logan forever. It was so worth the wait. Logan is so swoony and you can tell right away how much he cares for Grace. Action and suspense along with a long awaited union of souls.
Suspense and romance in this friends to lovers, standalone novel. Logan is all sexy alpha male, ex military and hot as sin. He is also best friends with the adorably sweet ‘ditched at the altar’ Grace. A sweet story with lots of romance, action and a few life threatening moments, but no matter what life throws at them, Logan is not one to be put off easily. He sees his chance and goes all in. Can Grace ignore her fears and take a leap of faith? I sure hope so, because these two are obviously made for each other. Those damn insecurities keep getting in the way though. Enjoyable and addictive. What more could you ask for? Even though this is part of a series I haven’t read the previous books, and it didn’t deter from the story. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Deadly Surrender. I really enjoyed reading this story . It’s full of suspense and intrigue , fantastic characters . Logan is really not sure where it’s coming from . With the help of their friends Logan must protect Grace and find out who and why is after them and stop them , Then convince Grace he wants more than just friends . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy .
I had listened to the audios of this series a while back and was thrilled to hear the author had decided to give us another story in the series.
This time the story belongs to Logan MacNeil and Grace Foster. If you are familiar with the series, Logan is Roman’s twin, whose story is told in Dangerous Surrender.
Grace, a HS counselor, recently moved after being left at the altar. In her circle of new friends, is Logan. Known as a womanizer, Grace is unaware he has feelings for her.
They had a one night stand but Grace is afraid to revisit it. She’s been left with a low self-esteem, and insecure not only after being left at the altar, but also from her childhood experiences.
When both their lives are put in danger, Logan is determined to keep Grace safe. Spending time together ignites the attraction. Will they survive the person trying to kill them? If so, will past experiences keep Grace from opening her heart to Logan?
This was another engaging, action packed story by this author. I did find it “softer” and the characters acting more like in their 20s instead of 30s, but it was still a very good addition to the series. Though we don’t spend much time at the Serafina, we do get to visit with some of the characters we came to love from previous stories.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I absolutely LOVED everything about this. Friends-to-lovers can be a hard sale for me unless it’s done just right and this one was perfect in every way!
After Logan rescues Grace from an uncomfortable situation, they end up taking their friendship to a different level. But just for the night. They are friends and that’s how it will stay. Logan’s got a reputation as a player and Grace’s heart can’t take a chance of being broken again. But when a random shooting appears to be more than just random, they find themselves in even closer proximity and Logan is determined to change his friend status.
Grace was sweet and caring. She’s a bit wounded from a bad breakup as well as life in general. I loved that she trusted Logan and when the opportunity arose to make more of their relationship, she did so. She’s feisty, independent and smart when it comes time to save themselves from danger.
Logan has had a thing for Grace since he first met her. He’s just been biding his time until she has recovered from the pain her ex had put her through. But when he saw a chance to push her towards something more, he took it, determined to make her his and keep her forever. He’s fiercely possessive and even more protective with a touch of jealousy thrown in just to perfectly round him out.
’And as he nibbled on her bottom lip, he realized he didn’t want anyone else seeing them making out. Her kisses and moans and everything else were just for him.’
This has a thread of danger and drama running through it that keeps the plot constantly moving but not consuming the whole storyline. The chemistry between Logan and Grace is felt from the first moment they are together and it only sizzles all the more as the story continues. Logan was cute and witty which, added with some amazing secondary characters, helped to give this a lighter feel to it.
This was an amazing read that kept me turning pages from the beginning. I didn’t want to set it aside for even a moment. The perfect afternoon read!
Logan is a good mix of a flirty, alpha male who also focuses 100% of his attention on the heroine. While he is described as a big flirt, you see him only flirting with the heroine and not other woman in this book. That’s pretty important for me. I like when the hero only sees the heroine.
He has a playboy reputation that followed after him long after he stopped, that causes him a bit of trouble getting Grace to give him a chance. Part of that is Grace’s past experience with her ex-fiance. She is gun shy after what her ex did to her and it’s completely understandable. It was a good way to show how tenacious Logan was to claim her.
The suspense was good and brought these two together faster than I think they would have been without the trouble that came their way. We also got to see some really great side characters. I have not read the books before this one. Seeing these other couples makes me really want to go grab those books up. Great read!
