After years playing in the NHL, a guy learns a thing or two.Rule #1: Don’t sleep with your publicist.I’ve spent my career dropping gloves and racking up minutes in the sin bin, but even my hard-earned reputation as the NHL’s toughest enforcer can’t save me.New team, new city, and an off-ice, bad boy persona I’ve got to clean up—or kiss my hard stick goodbye. But then I walk into my new PR firm . . … stick goodbye.
But then I walk into my new PR firm . . . and find her sitting behind the desk.
Rule #2: See Rule #1.
Sin Bin is the second book in Maria Luis’ Blades Hockey series. If you like your book boyfriends to be dark, dangerous, and hot as puck, then Sin Bin will definitely be your jam.

Andre is charming, but I didn’t get a lot of bad boy vibes. Still, I enjoyed the banter between him and Zoe immensely.
Andre is King Sin Bin, the hockey player most likely to break all the rules, and Zoe is the self-described Queen of Bad Decisions. They started as business acquaintances who quickly became best friends, but when their undeniable chemistry exploded in the most poorly-executed way possible they were forced to retreat and regroup.
Zoe and Andre are so perfect together; it’s almost a tragedy that they were kept apart for so long. Lucky for us, this author puts her wicked sense of humor to use by pairing our no-longer-speaking-to-each-other couple back together in a make-it-or-break-it one last chance to save each of their careers. Providing they can keep that chemistry problem from erupting again, of course.
I loved the character of Zoe. Maria Luis is an expert at crafting sassy, feisty, strong yet vulnerable heroines who know how to love deeply and fight dirty. Zoe realizes she can’t resist Andre but she’s certainly not going to make it easy for him, either. Andre is a quiet, brooding, wounded man whose past not only damaged his trust in women, it almost destroyed his ability to function entirely. He knows he is powerless around Zoe, but he has to bury his pain beneath layers of sarcastic humor just to get up each day. Reading how they figure out the solution to all these problems makes this one of the best books I’ve read this year.
In true Maria Luis style, hilarious situations and flirtatious banter fill the pages from start to finish, but the heart of this story is a love that is deep and forever true, the kind that solves life’s problems and heals even the most broken heart. We also get a few scenes with Charlie and Duke (from Power Play) and the rest of the team, giving us a chance to speculate about which sexy player will star in the next installment of this amazing series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Hot, Steamy, Funny, Entertaining/playful banter, what more could you ask for? Oh right! A Gorgeous-hot hockey player who dominates on the ice and in bed. Zoe and Andre have amazing chemistry. They both made mistakes that cost them. I felt for Zoe, her career was ruined. She was trying to bring herself back from all that had transpired, And in walks Andre again. She felt betrayed by him but at the same time so attracted to him that she was having a hard time being near him. What was nice is that they had a beautiful friendship before they let that one night of passion take over. I felt like there was nothing Andre could do to redeem himself. Then we find out what has made him the way he is. From the first page I was pulled in and it held my attention till the end. Over all this is a Steamy, romantic story about second chances.
A lovely second chance read. You want to dislike Andre as he appears cold but underneath you see his vulnerability. Zoe is trying to rebuild her life after a scandal involving Andre. They get thrown together to help fix his image. You feel their struggles and undeniable passion.
Let me first say that Maria Luis is hands down my favorite author to read. Her writing style is quirky, funny, and HOT. With that being said…Sin Bin is at the very tipy top of my read again and again and again list. It sits right underneath Tempt me with forever out of her Nola Heart collection.
Andre is HOT. And Zoe was quirky and sassy. I loved the two together! Their banter back and forth never stopped and holy hot scenes. Maria Luis certainly knows how to make a girl blush!
Sin Bin is book two in the Blades Hockey series by Maria Luis. This can be read as a stand alone but the characters from the book do recur in each other’s books. This could be classified as both an enemies to lovers romance and also a friends to lovers romance.
Zoe Mackenzie is twenty seven years old and is currently living with her dad and step mother in a suburb of Boston. One year ago, Zoe was climbing the ranks as a Public Relations Coordinator. Until that night. The one night that she gave in to the feelings that she had for her then friend and client, Andre. But unfortunately, a security camera caught everything, including the birthmark she has on her back side. Now, no firm will touch her.
Andre Beaumont is an enforcer for the Boston Blades. He spends a good portion of his time on the ice in the penalty box. But off the ice, he has also gotten the reputation of being like ice. Sponsors are dropping him right and left. His reputation is about as low as it can get. So he has one last hope of a new PR firm in Boston to try to salvage his image. But when he walks into the office, the woman he hasn’t seen in a year is sitting there.
Zoe has one last firm that is willing to give her a chance. She has one month to prove to them that she is worth the risk of hiring her. She’ll have one client. And that one client just happens to be the same man that got her into this mess. The man she now hates and never thought she’d see again.
“I like my life. It’s simple. Easy. Zoe makes me think, makes me feel. And that just won’t do.”
This job is Zoe’s last chance to try to salvage her career. But having anything to do with Andre is like pouring salt on a festering wound. Her memories of their friendship before “that night” haunt her. She’s seen the Andre that he keeps closed off now. But then “the night” happened. And those memories have never let go. She still brings them out when she’s alone…at night! Her body still remembers him.
“I needed her like I needed air to breathe and water to drink. Because I’d needed her. The way that I still need her.”
This book! Andre was everything. The effect these two have on each other made me swoon. But Andre has something that he’s keeping bottled up inside. And until he decides that it’s time to let it go, they won’t be able to move forward. And let me tell you that when Andre decides it’s time for the grand gesture, he has the grandest of gestures. The Best grand gesture ever!
I am loving this series so much. There’s snark, sweet moments, sexy times, and plenty of swoony times. I can’t wait to start the next book in the series, Hat Trick, which will be Marshall and Gwen’s book.
What can I say? If loving Andre Beaumont is wrong I don’t want to be right! If you are a fan of sassy heroines, sexy heros and hockey, then you must check out this Blades series by Maria Luis. Maria is one of my go to authors because I simply love her writing style. I also love that her heroines are strong, independent woman. They are sassy and feisty and full of spirit. They know what they want and aren’t afraid to go after that… love it! In Sin Bin, we meet Andre Beaumont, bad boy enforcer for the Blades. His reputation is not the best in hockey and needs a serious overhaul. In comes, Zoe, whose been put in charge of turning around his public image. Zoe is the self described “Queen of bad decisions” and in her mind Andre Beaumont was one of those. The chemistry between these former best friends turned lovers turned enemies is off the charts. Can the bad, brooding Andre, put his demons from the past aside and work his way out of the “Sin Bin”? Can Zoe resist this bad boy? No spoilers here, so you will have to read Sin Bin to find out.
Zoe and Andre- wow! Quite a book and couple! After a year apart- they are forced back together- for their jobs. I loved the storyline that forced them apart and brought them back together! Maria Luis did a great job with the characters! Wanting readers to keep turning the pages to get to their happily ever after!
Maria Luis is proves with Sin Bin that she is capable to running her readers through a gambit of emotions! While Sin Bin made me laugh out loud, it also made me feel a list of emotions!! I felt for Zoe, the poor girl who just couldn’t make a good choice is it tried to talk her through it! I was more impressed with Sin Bin than I was the first book, Power Play. I seriously didn’t think it would be possible for me to really like Andre or wish him on Zoe (figuratively and metaphorically). Luis was able to create such a story that made me end up feeling and actually liking Andre… who knew! Lol
Luis continues to write characters that fascinate. Her characters seem to just pull me in. They are so funny with their banter and wittiness, but this duo also shares a bit of vulnerability that was seriously endearing. I could feel the build up for this book and knew it was going to be a huge explosion! I also loved the secondary characters and that we got to catch up with Duke and Charlie.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
This was the first book I’ve read by Maria Luis and it grabbed me right from the start. I love hockey romance and this one doesn’t disappoint. Andre and Zoe were close friends until one night of passion all but ruined both their careers. Now they’re back together, and need to work together to salvage both their careers. The instant they are reunited, sparks fly. The chemistry between the two is smoking hot, the dialogue witty, and the emotions palpable. This book has everything and I just couldn’t put it down till I was finished. Maria Luis has just become one of my must-read authors.
What a fun, fast read! Although Maria guarantees an HEA, she doesn’t say it will be easy. There were times I found myself holding my breath and wanting to shake the characters, “King Sin Bin” Andre and “Moaning” Zoe.
This is the kind of story a sports romance should be.
I can’t wait for the next book in the Blades series!
