I love this series. it’s high paced, packed with action, bit of drama but also lots of fun, amazing characters and so much happening. I’ve re-read it many times and I still am finding new things I’ve missed before.
Miki St. John has been to hell and back, several times in fact. Just when he thinks all the skeletons have turned to ash, a trap door pops open and brings forth more murder, mayhem and madness. A mother he never knew, doesn’t remember, turns up dead and rips a hole in the feeling of safety he’s only recently grasped hold off. What’s worse, the man he loves could be lost protecting him and the Morgan clan circle the wagons, digging their heels in, hell bent on keeping Miki safe.
As much as I will miss Miki, Damie and the loud ass, brash Morgan clan, this was definitely a fitting end to their story. Full of rich dialogue, disturbing situations and lot of love that’s held together with barbed wire, nails and blood; Sin and Tonic finally answers the question readers have been asking since book 1… where Miki came from.
Tristan James is the all powerful God of narration. With a voice that oozes passion and sensuality like a lovely aged bottle of scotch, the rich liquid slowly seeping through the ice cubes in crystal glass, he brings every emotion every character is feeling to life with a plethora of voices and broad spectrum of tones, inflections and nuances.
Definitely a must read/listen story but you must start at the beginning. The journey that Rhys Ford takes this large, eclectic group of perfectly imperfect characters on is nothing less than spectacular.
So sad this is the end of the series. 🙁

After exhausting brothers, cousins, and bandmates, I’m so glad to see this series return to Kane and Miki. The original pair is back as a committed couple with a whole lot of history behind them. These two have accepted each other’s quirks and adapted to the idiosyncrasies of their shared lives.
Old fears and memories surface when Miki is abruptly confronted with his past. I love that Kane and Miki face the threats to Miki’s safety together without the angst and doubt that would have had Miki fighting Kane at every turn a couple of years ago. I also love the way Miki now accepts his place in Kane’s family.
Kane’s investigation into Chinatown’s murky underworld is complicated and scary at times. With Kane and Miki already a settled couple, there is more focus on the police and their investigation than the romance in this book and I really enjoyed the murder mystery element of the story.
This feels like the end of what has become a favourite series and though I’m sad to see these characters go, this is a satisfying end and it does justice to the series.

This is a truly perfect ending to a series that touches the soul of all who take the journey. I’ve experienced tears, laughter and at times what felt like righteous anger. This book took the whole series and wrapped it perfectly with a figurative bow for the best experience. The love that the main characters, Miki and Kane, share is passionate and beautiful. You’ll find answers to Miki’s past and his strength becomes a badge of honor. But even still he is surrounded by the Morgan clan (Kane’s family) and his band mates as they stand prepared to go to bat for him and keep him standing. Although I have a heavy heart that the series is coming to an end, I’m so glad I took the journey.
This is the culmination of Rhys Ford’s Sinners series, which begins with Sinner’s Gin. Miki has been learning to love and to let himself be loved throughout the series, and this is where he turns the important corner and finds his balance. Love comes in many forms from many sources, and the Morgans, who welcomed him into their midst as soon as they met him, have shown him that. Now he believes it, and feels safe to lean on it.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
And breathe! Deep breath, it’s just a review, Debbie, you can do it!
So! This is book 6 in the Sinners series and I would recommend that you at least read Sinners Gin (book 1) and Absinthe of Malice (book 5) before you read this one. You need to know about Miki and Kane from the beginning since this is the conclusion to their story. Actually, I take that back. Read them ALL, please! Not least because they are 4 and 5 stars reads from me, but because you need these boys in your life, you really do!
Miki is falling apart, and someone is trying to kill him. He finds out his mother’s and then his father’s name, and all hell breaks loose!
It’s been a while (Dec 2016) since I read book 5 and I don’t reread, but once I got going, it all comes back to you. Ford spins her tales like no other, and I LOVE her work. It just grabs you, and pulls you kicking and screaming, along for the very bumpy ride that Miki and Kane take you on!
I loved that Miki was finally able to ask for help, because that was a hard fought battle with himself. I loved that he was calling Donal (Kane’s father) Dad. oh! I just LOVED IT!!! Loved that I did not see who might be responsible for everything, until it was revealed in the book. Ford has a way of keeping you on your toes!
Very VERY emotional in places, a little bit messy what with dead bodies and things, but so, so bloody awesome!
I can’t say much, cos of spoilers and things but read it! Read them ALL!!
It’s always sad, coming to the end of a MUCH loved series, but I *think* this actually might be my favourite of the whole series. And of course I want to LISTEN to this, because I really don’t hear the voices right, and I NEEEEEEED Tristan James and the Morgan/Finnegan boys and girls in my ear one more time.
So, a very VERY fitting end, and I LOVED the epilogue! And I love love LOVED that Miki was finally able to share Kane a little with the world, more specifically, how much Kane means to him.
A Song For Kane
So throw back the gates of hell,
Pull me down the path I’d walked.
Find me in the darkness,
No matter if I balk.
Sing me a son of redemption,
Sing me a ballad of love and bliss.
Remind of the Heaven,
I found in our first kiss.
Bravo, Ms Ford.
5 full and shiny stars but really, it deserves far more!
