A lot can change in six years.Take me, for instance.I uprooted my small town life to move to Chicago, went to college, and grew up. Too bad I belatedly realized something was missing.Determined to find myself again, I quit my job and head back to my family’s apple orchard to do some soul-searching. A lot can also stay the same.Case in point: my brother’s best friend, Lawson Westbrook.Still … Lawson Westbrook.
Still charming. Still ridiculously handsome. Still an expert at making my heart race in an achingly familiar way.
His desire-filled eyes and seductive promises tempt me to take him up on his offer for a sinful summer.
Lawson may see me differently, but my heart’s still vulnerable.
Something’s brewing between us, but I don’t know if it’s happiness or heartbreak.

I recieved a free copy and I’m now leaving an honest and voluntary review.
For a debut novel it’s very well written. I would read more from her if I get the chance.
This is a small town romance mixed with an older brothers best friend romance and a little bit of second chance romance.
Mac and Lawson have great chemistry together. The side characters are great too especially Langley. I like her laid back attitude.
This is a steamy book if that’s what you like to read.
I highly recommend this book
Wow just wow. One of the best books I read. One that absolutely couldn’t put down. I was up until after 1 am finishing. What a great story, makes you wonder what happens next for these two. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Loved her writing so much.
What’s not to love about southern gentleman with a VERY dirty mouth???
This was one of those books that made me want to throw my Kindle. Right from the beginning I was totally invested in these Mac and Lawson!
Mac and Lawson have known each other forever! He has always been her brother’s best friend. He thought of her as another little sister, and when she couldn’t get him to see her any other way, she goes to Chicago for school and builds a life there. When that life starts to not be as great as she hoped she goes back home to find herself. When she gets there Lawson finally sees her as a woman and not another little sister. He wants nothing serious, she just wants a chance with him. But like most men he sends mixed signals and cant figure out what he really wants…. this is what helps Mac actually find herself!
This story had me laughing at times, and crying at others. I got mad. I squealed like a teen girl at a boy band concert. There were also some REALLY SUPER HOT MOMENTS!!! And I just LOVED when he would call her “darlin”- so sexy. Definitely a story worthy of
I loved this book. Such a wonderful light hearted read. I enjoyed the main female lead – Mac. She was one tough cookie. Being a small town girl and moving to Chicago made her grow some balls. So when she moves back home for the summer the last thing she expects is to see her long time crush still there and looking better than ever.
Lawson is the typical playboy guy figure in this book. Yes he finds Mac attractive, but it’s his best friends little sister and her appearance under those coveralls are not a turn on. But when a night out shows what kind of curves she’s working with, he has to have her. I mean it’s only for the summer anyways. Lawson wants nothing serious.
Mac can fight her own battles and definitely knows how to stand on her own. So when she notices Lawson is just looking for some tail or a few rounds of relief, she decides to play games at first, but honestly how long would you hold out from hot of a hunk and secret crush when he’s touching you and whispering the the right temptations?
Soon Mac and Lawson are not only fighting their attraction but also fighting what their heart is telling them. Mac needs to fight her feelings for Lawson and realize she plans on leaving him to head back to Chicago. Meanwhile Lawson is trying to fight not having feelings for her. He’s a one and done type of person. No repeats, no jealously and sure has heck no forever feelings. So will both of them deal with their inner battles for each other. All I have to say is they better both lose.
I absolutely without a doubt love reading debut novels that are truly amazing. This book was addictive and heart-warming! I absolutely love brother’s best friends to lovers books, and this one surely did not let me down. It had a unique story line that had me drawn in from the very start, and I barely could put it down. I look forward to reading more books to come from Author K. Reese.
Also, I seriously almost find it hard to believe that this book is K. Reese’s debut novel, as it was extremely well-written and plotted together. Throughout the book I laughed, smiled and my heart swooned. It was the perfect mix of sexy, adorable and heart capturing. By the end my heart was overflowing with all the happy feels <3
So do I recommend this book? Ummm WITHOUT A DOUBT!
It has been six years since Mac left Tennessee for Chicago but now she has returned home for the summer. She is tired of being unappreciated and others taking credit for her work as a graphic designer so a little distance is exactly what she needs however she still has the issue of her feelings for brother’s best friend to deal with.
Lawson offers to help Mac repair the barn so that she can start making cider again however he still sees her as nothing more than his best friend’s sister until the night he sees her in a dress and he no longer sees her the same way. He doesn’t want a relationship but a fling for the summer sounds like a great idea but will this leave Mac with another broken heart by this man?
I loved this debut novel by this author and how she was able to get both Lawson and Mac to recognize what their feelings really were and what they really wanted in their lives. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I’ve struggled with the words to capture how much I enjoyed… no loved this book. I’ve struggled to find a way that expresses not only my love of this story but a way to express how deeply special I found Ms. Reese’s words.
It’s rare to find a debut novel that is so enchanting – Ms. Reese is supremely talented, she is undoubtedly a diamond and not one in the rough!
From Chapter 1 I knew this book was special and forced myself to read it slowly and soak in all of Ms. Reese’s words.
Sin and Cider is a beautiful take on the ‘Brother’s Best Friend and Returning Home tropes.’ It’s refreshing, engaging and exciting. I loved the fire that sparked between our Hero and Heroine – their story of love and misunderstanding is charming and full of emotion.
I love when I can just fall into the pages of book. I love when I can feel what the characters feel, see what the characters see. I loved being sucked into this story and finding myself needing and wanting more when I came to “The End.”
Ms. Reese has a way of writing that just captures the reader and allows them to become a part of the story! I am still in awe of this beautiful story, I want more. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Reese has in store for her readers in the future.
Cheers and Five Stars for an amazing debut!
MacIntosh “Mac” Layne is not happy with her life right now. She quit her dream job in Chicago and doesn’t know what to do. She decides to visit her family in Tennessee, hoping to find an answer. Her parents own Shady Layne Orchards and she has wonderful memories of picking apples and making cider. She can’t wait to spend time with her older brother, Smith, but does not want to run into his best friend, Lawson. He was her teenage crush and she chose to attend college in Chicago to distance herself from him .
Lawson Westbrook comes from old money, owns a construction company, and is a true southern gentleman. He is very handsome with a magnetic personality. All the ladies love him, but he refuses to get serious with anyone. He is currently putting a new roof on the barn at the apple orchard, and Mac has reluctantly agreed to help him.
Mac was at the farmer’s market with Langley, Lawson’s sister, when she spotted him. He was just as handsome as ever with his bright green eyes and his sexy swagger. Lawson noticed Mac, too, but he didn’t recognize her from the back. He was intrigued by this beautiful and mysterious woman, and he needed to find out who she was. Knowing this, Langley arranged for him to meet up with them at a local bar. When Langley motioned him over to the bar, the brown haired beauty turned around. It was Mac, his best friends little sister, the person he had been working with at the barn. He didn’t care, he had to have her. Mac couldn’t stop staring at Lawson. She had always wanted him to look at her like this- with passion and lust. He wasn’t part of her plan, but she didn’t care. He took her hand and they left the bar.
“Sin and Cider” is sensual, passionate and captivating. I loved this book and I feel that Kimberly Reese has captured the emotions of Mac and Lawson so perfectly that you want their story to go on forever. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, “Sin and Sugar.”
Sin and Cider is a delectably sweet romance with a strong independent heroine and sinfully sexy hero. Their chemistry was undeniable from the beginning and only grew the closer the got. I adored the small town feel of Sin and Cider that reminded me of home. Kimberly Reese does small town romance just as well as she does steamy college romance in Nerdgasm. I really can’t wait for more of her words!
sweet, with a hint of sass
Who doesn’t love an Alpha that’s suddenly twisted up inside and out over unknown feelings?!
-sighs dreamily- Lawson has no problem going after what he wants. The problem is that Mac isn’t what he wants, she is who he needs.
This tale is sinfully satisfying and delicious.
LOVE this book! Can’t wait for the next one!
I enjoyed this book so much that I’ve already re-read it! The story of Mac and Lawson is so addictive and you’ll be left wanting to jump straight into book 2. This 5 star read was on my mind all day at work and I was craving more. I headed straight to Amazon when I got home and gosh the disappointment I felt when I realised that book 2 isn’t available yet. I NEED Sin and Cider in print, in my hands so that I can savour the story all over again. I’ll certainly be keeping updated with this series, and I’m excited for book 2. I can’t recommend this book enough!
What a fantastic freaking book!!! I was in the mood for a small town romance and this book delivered in a big way. I loved everything about Mac and Lawson’s story. Everything!!
Genuine, witty banter, plenty of feels, add this to seriously hot sexy times (wall oral anyone – WOWSA ) made this one heck of a read. Also can’t forget the best friends and the sister – I have my fingers crossed everyone will be getting a story. I need more from this town.
Cannot believe this is the author’s first story – extraordinary debut book & I will definitely be looking for more of her words.
Holy smokeness..Officer Chase Kelly.. I dont mind to be arrested by something so sinful.. naughty.. dirty mouth.. sexy smirk… he give me chills.. panty melter.. hot officer all in and out..
If you love the chase… seduction.. sexy dirty mouth… u got it.. the story will keep you going.. hellooo like a walking sexy giant pole hahaha.Livia is a quiet and sweet woman.. by age 30, she think her eggs is drying and planning for having children… until she met Chase… Everything light up like a fireworks..rollercoaster emotion..
This book is a little literary gem! I spent all day reading it because I simply fell in love with the characters. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mac and Lawson!! The writing is smart, funny, sexy and just plain awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the characters in this book and spending a little time in Starwood, TN. Hands down one of the best books I have read this year! Ca
What I wanted I did not get. While I wasn’t overly in love with the book it wasn’t exactly a complete and utter disappointment either. But overall the dislike seemed to mount higher than the like column.
I enjoyed the banter between Lawson and Mac, but I found the core of the scenes (those hot and steamy ones) to be a bit hit and miss. Some I found to be written with the perfect finesse while others become overly complicated to imagine with the extra added details of every movement and limb. It almost became a tad puzzely for me.
The other down fall I seemed to have that really stuck out to me was how everyone appears to look impeccably perfect. It’s amazing how one person can have so many good-looking single men surrounding them. With all the alpha testosterone flying around its amazing the cider remained part of the story. But despite the pure perfection in the physical appearance the characters seemed to be flawed in the best of possible way. Meaning that it didn’t really appear they were flawed.
But if you looked past all that and skipped over the heavily vetted sexual encounters the actual story line wasn’t half bad. A young woman trying to find her path in life is essentially what it is. I found it to be an okay telling of a girl finally getting the guy she always wanted (well maybe she got him).
The greatest accomplishment I felt this book had to offer was that I felt as though I had traveled down south. Reading the words on paper easily translated into my mind with a southern accent. The characters voices came to life almost instantly. And while they all are from the same place and have the drawl each person vocalization became their own.
I would and could see myself venturing down the road with a Kimberly Reese book in hand.
This is a great debut book by this author. You will be captivated by Lawson with his devilish smile and sweet southern charm .I enjoyed hoiw Mac’s character is written , she stands up for herself when life knocks her down. The story as well as the characters were well written . The book flow is one you won’t want to miss reading.
A fabulous debut from this talented author. I absolutely love a great romantic build up and this one delivered! Are they acquaintances, friends. lovers or even forever ! Mac and Lawson are so well written and I loved their story , they pulled me right in and i couldn’t put them down. They are funny, sexy. sassy in-depth characters. Their supporting cast was fabulous and I cannot wait to read more in this series!!!
