From hacking attempts, to break-ins, Matthias covers up intrusions from his past. But, when a new client stumbles through their doorway, Matthias has an overwhelming sense to play the Protector, something he hasn’t done for 10 years. With this new client, Matthias overcomes his ‘secret problem’, but when the client’s true identity is finally revealed, Matthias snaps and loses all control of the Monster within.
Sin is an addicting read that will tear your heart out. You can’t help but grieve for Matthias, and hope against all hope, that he hasn’t lost the only family he has ever had.
I’ve read the previous books featuring the Blake security men so I’d already met the enigma that is Matthias. Matthias has always been the dark, dangerous, mysterious one out of the Blake security team and the one that has intrigued me the most. I’m obsessively, head over heels for Matthias so it’s no surprise that I wasn’t completely won over by the female lead in this book. I wanted to like her but seeing as she’s been sent to take down Matthias (or is it to protect him?) that just wasn’t going to happen. Although I do live in hope that these authors work their magic and make me love Gemma as much as I do Matthias I’m not entirely convinced it’s possible at the minute.
I’ve read a lot of these authors co authored books and this one is without a doubt my favourite. It’s got every thing I expect from these ladies books. Twists, unexpected turns, hot alphas, strong females, suspense and plenty of chemistry between the characters. I can’t wait for more from my man Matthias.
These authors are fairly new to me, as I’ve only read one Nana Malone series (Royals Undercover) and I absolutely loved it. This one I freaking loved just as much. It took me a minute to realize that those two series are actually slightly interconnected, (there’s mention of the Security team in those books). Of course, then I had to do a little stalking and I found that there are more books/series for the other guys of Blake Security! Umm… hells yea!! I’m definitely getting those books!!
So this one, I was like…hmm… guy virgin bodyguard? How is that even possible? Once I start reading though, I’m immediately hooked and like ohhhh okay. Matthias has seen things and done things that not many people have, so his reactions towards certain things, if you knew how he grew up, totally understandable. I love that when he sees Gemma, there’s this insta-connect between them and that you start to see past his stoic facade. Then we learn Gemma’s story and we’re like….eeek!
Gemma is in a bit of a jam. She’s kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I was rooting for her to just bite the bullet and tell Matthias what was going on. Because, secrets… you know nothing good comes from them and eventually they turn around to come bite you in the you know what! And whatdayaknow? Gemma’s you know what get’s bit good and hard leaving me all shocked as hell!
This story had it all…even the geezus what the hell…kill me now cliffhanger! I was pretty shocked at the way it ended. Definitely a bit of cray cray action going on. Before that mess, I was laughing out loud at the guys, numerous times, especially when they find out about Matthias. It’s pretty comical. I’m ready for Oskar’s story, he most definitely needs a woman to knock him on his A-S-S. But, first I need the rest of Gemma and Matthias’ story! Stat ladies!! You’re killin me smalls!! Loving these characters and will definitely be snatching up the other books about them while I wait for Sinful!

I don’t know what to say. I have been wanting to get some information about Matthias but now that I have it, I am almost regretting that craving. Matthias has went through some serious crazy stuff and he is hanging on the edge. This book is well written and keeps you enthralled until the very end and anxiously waiting for book 2, Sinful. His past has come back to haunt him in the form of ORUS and The Family. One supposedly trying to protect him and one that wants him dead as soon as possible.
In walks Gemma. A girl Matthias feels instantly protective towards. The connection is instant and hot despite the limitations of the two. You know the guys from Blake help in anyway they can. Unfortunately betrayal is eminent. Will this betrayal break Matthias and unleash the monster he tried so hard to control? I don’t know about you but I was on the edge of my seat at the end of this book. Scared for everyone. They did a great job delivering this story and I cannot wait for part 2.
Hot, Mysterious and so very Unique – The British have invaded again but this time a Virgin Security Guard leads the way! Sin Duet, #2 continues the story of Matt, the British Security Guard who now works for Blake Security in New York City. His past haunts him and he is always looking over his shoulder for the Family who has vowed to get him one day. In walks Gemma, beaten and bruised, looking for protection and turning Matt’s eyes to something more than protection. Gemma holds her own secrets, one that could cost her life and the lives of those in Blake Security. I am looking forward to the conclusion of Matt and Gemma’s story in #3.
WOW! An intense and powerful love story! Ashley @White Hot Reads
The team at Blake Security is not just a work group but a family. I have not read any of the other Blake Security books but I am going to now. Each member of the family has a skill and a past that are there to protect those who can’t protect themselves. Matthias who’s past is even darker than the others which had me wanting to know more from the first page. When Matthias past shows up as Gemma who is looking for protection there is hot chemistry between the two and with both their inexperience it makes it that much hotter.
When Matthias’s monster is unleashed after he has tried to bury them and no one can touch him even the one who is the closest to him. I was left speechless and wanting more. This was a suspenseful cliffhanger and I cannot wait until Sinful comes out to find out what is going to happen with both Matthias and Gemma.
I enjoyed this one for the most part. I am a big fan of these two author’s writing, and I am have been enjoying this series so far. Usually, I am not a fan of virgins, but at least the two main characters in this one were only 21 (or 22), so them both being virgins was at least somewhat believable.
The writing was great. It was fast paced and a fairly quick read. The plot was engaging, but I found it kind of similar to the plot of Rafe’s book. Plus, I am not a fan of one party keeping huge secrets and telling lies to the other. It was especially bothersome for ME in this particular case because they have sex (first time for both of them) with the secrets and lies still in place. It just didn’t sit right with me. So I was a bit disappointed in that aspect. There was no OW or OM drama. Both the main characters were likable. Last, it was all wrapped up in a HUGE cliffhanger. All in all, it wasn’t a bad read, and I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the final book.
This is book 1 of the Sin Duet, but is part of the on going saga of the Blake Securities Crew. (The Shameless Universe, also including the Shameless Trilogy, The Force Duet, and the Deep Duet) This Duet is about Mattias.
Mattias is the youngest of the Blake Securities crew, and we learned in previous books, a former ORUS agent. He is also a computer-tech guru. He has a murky past, that is explained in this story, and that past comes back to haunt him. (Since it’s not revealed in the blurb, I’m not going to get into the other half of this HEA, but I will say, the heat levels are off the charts!)
As with the previous books, this story is full of drama, action, bad guys, and questionable loyalties. The Blake Securities family is tight, and its a family of their own making. However, outside forces drive events that flow from book to book, and you never know what is going to happen next. This being the first half of a duet, it does end in a cliff hanger, but this one totally blew my mind! Amazing ending, and I can’t wait until the next part to find out what happens!
Sin Book 1
by Minx Malone and Nana Malone
What a phenomenal story that I absolutely enjoyed reading. This is my favorite characters in the world of Blake’s Security. Which is why this story is a favorite of mine! It’s full of surprises and intrigue so if you enjoy a fast-paced, romantic, suspenseful, full of passion and alpha males, then you’ll want to read Sin, these two ladies are very talented and can created a fantastic story even with a cliffhanger. This is a Magnificent addition to the Sin series and a great start
to what I hope will be an amazing contemporary romance series. The story features Matthias and Gemma but there is also more characters to enjoyed and I can’t wait to read their stories because I know they will be exciting too. Matthias is a nerdy, sexy, handsome technology guy, he runs the technical support for Blake Security and he uses his skills to find any information the company needs. Gemma is a agent for Orius who is undercover with the Family alone she is trying to save the mark but she has no idea that Matthias is the mark and he is a childhood friend who she thought was killed. What I enjoyed the most about this story is there is plenty of steam, the good sweaty kind, that’s the blazing hot. Their chemistry is faultless and I enjoyed how combustible the passion between these two characters. Just when you think they are about to get their happily ever after the authors takes us for a another thrill ride, and even then they aren’t done with us yet! They keep the excitement coming until the very end plus the story promises much much more with their next book. So if you are looking for a Magnificent book to Read you may want to make room on your TBR list for more books from the Malone ladies, because you will be HOOKED from the beginning on everyone of their books!
Because I haven’t read the previous books in this series my review is coloured by that.
It was a great book but the many characters made me feel a little foreign to the world the authors build. However I have no doubt that if I’ve read the other books I would have had another feeling, a feeling of familiarity.
This is what I liked:
* Good storyline that progresses nicely and the suspense keeps me on edge
* Characters descriptions are good and I wish I knew them before I started this book.
* The connection between Matthias and Gemma was instant and the love scenes is intense and sweet.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and enough dialogues
* The world building reminds me very much of Laura Kaye’s books.
This would probably be a 5 star read if I had read the other books first, as it is now it’s a strong 4 stars from me and I’m going to read the other books in this series.
Ahh, sweet, broken Matthias. He’s such a contradiction – fiercely loyal and protective, yet terrified of emotions, tender enough to soothe a crying baby, but absolutely formidable in a fight, and underneath it all, he’s broken by his past and determined to keep his secrets hidden. Enter Gemma and his past and present are doomed to collide in a big way. Their story is intense, touched by darkness, and the pull between them is almost magnetic. This is part of a duet, so expect a cliffy, and it’s a doozy. The story is romance, but we also get some intrigue, action, and even a bit of humor along the way to an edge of your seat, oh no, they didn’t just end it there ending – well, non-ending that left this reader chomping at the bit for the next part of Matthias and Gemma’s story.
In order to fully understand Matthias’s past Before Sin, the prequel, should be read first. After Matthias left Orus his mission has been to dismantle the Family who put him through unbearable pain and he wants them to feel what he felt that fateful day. His past is catching up him, but he never expected it to bring Gemma, the girl he thought was dead, back into his life.
Gemma has been sent on a mission of her own, but she never expected to find Matthias as she believed he was dead as well. They are happy to see each other but nothing is as it appears which puts them on a collision course where neither may emerge the winner.
The ride that this story will take you on filled with suspense, twists and secrets that leave you wondering what could possibly happen next. This is part of a duet so there is an epic cliff hanger but the final installment comes out in June so you don’t have long to wait.
I have been waiting patiently for Matthias story and for me it was worth the wait. It was as explosive as I thought it would be. In my opinion M. Malone and Nana Malone wrote a really good suspenseful story. There was even a twist thrown in that I did not see coming. I really can’t wait for Sinful. We get the backstory of Matthias that most of us have been waiting for. For me M. Malone and Nana Malone wrote a suspenseful, keep you on the edge of your seat, page turner. This does end in a cliffhanger, but the next book is due in the first couple of weeks of June, I believe. So in my opinion it’s not that long to wait. In my opinion this well worth reading. I received an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.
I have really enjoyed this series. I have really enjoyed getting to know the men at Blake security. I’ve only read Rafe’s story, but when I get the time, I’m going to go and read Noah and Jonas’ stories as well.
I think Matthias may be my favorite of the Blake security guys. He’s nerdy and has quite the background, coming from an international crime Family, then being sold to ORUS, and now working with Blake Security. With that being said, I highly recommend reading the really short prequel to this novel, Before Sin, before you read this book. You can get by without reading it, but I think you’ll enjoy this book better if you read that first.
I think Matthias and Gemma can be great together. Once the discover who each other actually is, they let their guards down, but that wasn’t a great idea for Matthias. This book ended on a cliffhanger, the monster having been unleashed, not able to be stopped.
I only give this book four stars because while I enjoyed it, it just wasn’t spectacular. It was a very fun read, all of Nana and M. Malone’s stories are, it just didn’t have that five-star wow factor.
4.5 Emotional, Thrilling, Jaw Dropping Stars!
Wow, what an emotional, thrilling, jaw dropping story! I was so captivated by Matthias’s past and the man he appeared to be now. He was thankful to have a good family to be apart of after what happened to him before. But he still feels uneasy and that something is missing in his life as he struggles with the beast inside. Gemma appears at their office to take Matthias, it’s a test to help her get closer to her end game. She is a trained assassin and must find a way to make him trust her. As they become closer, their secrets weigh heavy on them both. I loved how their story unfolded. It was unique, thrilling and steamy. This first book in the Sin Duet set up Matthias and Gemma beautifully, hooking and reeling me in right up to the stunning end! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Holy Computers, Batman, this book has mystery, intrigue, humor, hot sex, heart stopping action…and a cliffhanger!
Sin starts to unravel the background story of the youngest member of Blake Security, Matthias Weller. Through flashbacks, we learn he grew up in the mysterious “Family” where danger lurked around every corner for both children and adults. One of his only childhood friends was Gigi, who he believed died right in front of him. Because this story is told from a dual POV, we know that our heroine, Gemma, is actually Gigi, who also believed her friend, Matt, was killed by the Family. Both Matthias and Gemma are both ORUS trained agents, but as agents, they only go by codenames.
Matthias and Gemma are still fairly young, though mature beyond their age due to the way they grew up and the organization that trained them to be killer agents. I had a lot of “giggle out loud” moments when Matthias got drunk and started to reveal his scared “attempt” at having sex for the first time to Oskar and Rafe.
When Matthias realizes his past lives are colliding in front of his eyes, the monster (we don’t fully understand yet) inside of him unleashes leaving us with a big cliffhanger. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book because chaos was reigning at the end of this one!
The latest book in the Blake security series by M. Malone I dare say is the best. Pretty much from the first pages you are sucked in and can I just say Matthias is the perfect dangerous and yummy combo. He’s so protective and caring when he reconnects with Gemma after thinking she was dead for years. You think maybe the dangerous bad boy might actually be able to contain the monster inside and overcome his past. Gemma isn’t a whilting violet but one pretty tough chick herself.
After of years of missing and morning Gemma Mattias can’t believe he has found her and she’s alive. Yet when more details about Gemma come to light there is no way to know how Matthias will react and if their new found relationship will survive.
I loved this first full book in the Sin series but it does end in one heck of a cliff hanger and leaves you gasping for the next book.
I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
Two of my favorite authors finally gave me Matthias’s story. A complex man deserves this rich, complex, angst filled, action filled story. It is the origin of him and Gina. It is also the storm he predicted in previous books. I can’t wait to find out how it is resolved in Sinful.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Sin is the first book in the Sin Duet from M. Malone and Nana Malone. However there is a prequel for this series that you need to read first from background information. Before Sin is available now and free.
I am a bodyguard. I walk softly and carry a big….stick. Too bad I have no idea how to use it. I know what your’re thinking. How the hell do you end up a virgin when you live in a city know for easy access? But my focus is protecting the women of New York…not fulfilling my every desire. Then I meet her.
If you have read The Shameless series then you have met Matthias and were probably just like the rest of the readers and so curious about Matthias. I am so excited that we are getting his book and that we get to experience more of the of the Blake Security Gang. If you haven’t read the Shameless then you are missing some really good books. I devoured them just like I did Before Sin and Sin. Matthias is hiding thing from his new family at Blake Security and pretty much thinks he has it under control. However the Family he was sold from to ORUS is now after him and ORUS wants him too. And what no one will ever see coming is who the Family and ORUS have sent to do the job. I nearly fell off the couch when I read what I read. This too is why you need to read Before Sin so that you know exactly who this person is and can be as shocked as me. Matthias is such a dark person and for good reason. However he has always been really good at containing his monster but now it come out to play and there is no going back. There is no saving him either if his mentor and best friend can not get through to him. This book is fast paced and will have you one the edge of your seat. Your going to want to have the next book in your hands the second your finished with Sin. I know that I can not wait. You need to read this book is your a lover of suspense filled books filled with passion and jaw dropping surprises. M. Malone and Nana Malone have really outdone themselves with the first part of Matthias’s story.
Wow! I can definitely say that I am waiting with baited breath for the conclusion of this story. I typically don’t like cliff hangers but I did know it going in for this one. The twists and turns are epic! Hot and emotional, alpha male and just as alpha female characters make this an intense story of Matthias and Gemma. Both were raised in the ‘Family’ and got out, became hired killers/bodyguards, and then encounter each other in a twisted story about revenge, love, and hopefully an HEA.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for the review.
