It’s been two years since Kate Evans unexpectedly lost her husband and one year since her aunt Cassandra stepped in and moved Kate and her son back to Colorado to start a new life. Just when Kate is starting to get comfortable in her new reality, three very different men enter her life. Alec is young, easygoing, and up for anything. Nate is a divorced dad who is steady, reliable, and everything … everything Kate should want. Jess is quite literally the boy next door, not to mention a real-life movie star straight from every girl’s dreams.
Is she really ready to jump into the dating scene again? Or does she stay in the same safe place free from heartache? In between braving water slides to cheating at croquet, Kate is forced to confront things she’d rather leave buried, along with the possibility of a new love that is exactly what she needs.

Simply Starstruck by Aspen Hadley is a simply glorious story. I devoured this book in six amazing, fantastic, magical hours. I actually would have read it in one sitting, but I accidentally woke my husband up twice last night with my laughter so I had to force myself to put the book down in the wee hours of the night. Let me tell you, putting the book down for one second was NOT an easy thing to do. Simply Starstruck is unequivocally one of the best Rom-Coms ever written. In my book, it ranks right up there with Bethany Turner’s The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck and Kara Isaac’s Then There Was You.
Simply Starstruck is a masterful story. The plot is highly engaging. The characters are exquisite. Hadley’s witty banter, heartfelt inner monologues, and steamy romantic moments prove she is a writing force to be reckoned with. And, this book had me feeling ALL the feels. I laughed out loud on several occasions, I teared up a little, a couple of times my heart hurt for Kate (the heroine), and I swooned. I swooned hard! The kisses in this book are stellar! The best thing about this story is it is so complex. This book is not simply fun and games. Hadley tackles widowhood, parenthood, blind dates, bad dates, the effects of trauma, anger, and fear. There is a lot packed into this 250-ish page book! One of my favorite things about this book is that it turned a mirror on me and made me contemplate a few of my own issues — after-effects of trauma and fear to name a couple.
Simply stated, Simply Starstruck is a rare gem. This is a must-read novel that will have you laughing one minute, swooning the next, and walking away one satisfied reader once the last page has been turned. At this point, I typically expound upon a character or theme, but I don’t think I can do that without giving away major plot points. So I will leave you with this — find yourself a copy of Simply Starstruck TODAY! This is not a story you will want to miss.
I borrowed a copy of this novel in eBook form through my Kindle Unlimited subscription on November 29, 2019, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This was a good life after tragedy book. It wasn’t a sad tragic tale at all though. The h has had great loss and this story took us along in that process. I admit I would find the h frustrating and sometimes not acting her age. However, when I put her actions in the perpective of bouncing back from trials I found I understood her better and had more empathy. The interactions between the H & h were always good reading. I loved the H. Lots of times I found I didn’t like Zinn, the housekeeper, and thought her condescending and didn’t like her. I did like all the other supporting characters. In the description I wondered how the author would write her dating 3 different men but I think she it was well done.
I think I’m starstruck…
Once in a while, you find a new author and you decide to give them a try… I came across this author in a clean romantic comedy group on a social network site and the summary sounded good, so I decided to download it (love KU!). I absolutely loved the first book I read by her, so I decided to download another. It wasn’t a fluke! Man, this lady is talented! She has now become a part of my, “Don’t even bother reading the summary, just download it, it will be great” list. It’s not a very long list. I’m so glad I took a chance and read her work. I absolutely recommend this book and anything she writes. Awesome!
Simply Starstruck was a laugh out loud clean romantic comedy! I enjoyed watching as Kate tried to figure out her life and all the dating mishaps along the way as she lived in a bit of denial about falling in love with the famous movie star next door. The characters were fun and real, the writing well paced and entertaining. I look forward to more books by this author.
