Wow, what a read!! Calla definitely goes through her fair share of obstacles in this book. Along the way, new enemies and friends emerge as well as a few shocking revelations. All is not as it seems behind the walls of the keep. We start to see glimpses of who she is meant to become. Are all the players in motion on the board, or are there more to come? I thoroughly enjoy this series. After all, who doesn’t like a good quest? Now if only the guys would open their hearts and minds to get out of preconceived ideas. I’m greatly looking forward to the next in this exciting series!!
Silvercrest Guardians is book 2 in the series and continues the story where it left off where Calla and her men finally arrived at the Stronghold. But as she finally shows more of her powers, suspicions run against her. Will she be an advantage against the Ebon Queen or will she be a new threat? It doesn’t help that she had Luin, a dragonkin. With men back at the stronghold, they had to attend to their duties and that left our Calla, in a place where she doesn’t know anyone aside from the men while still learning her powers through training.
The pace of the story certainly picks up and some questions are answered from book 1. We have also learned more of Calla’s backstory and of course, Luin’s. Also, we see how Calla’s guys fight what they felt for her but couldn’t help but give in to their feelings. I can’t wait to read the next book in the installment to know what will happens next!
I read this book in one sitting….& stayed up way past my bedtime because I could not put it down. Silvercrest Gaurdians is the second book in the Daughter of Shadow Series….. and L.J. Swallow did not disappoint! From beginning to end it was jam packed with tons of action, secrets, twists & turns & some seriously swoon-worthy moments… and just when you think you’ve got it all figured out the ending will leave you wanting more and potentially throwing your kindle I now have a full list of new questions that has me anxiously awaiting book three. The Daughters of Shadow Series is quickly becoming one of my new favorites
If you enjoy otherworldly paranormal books with a reverse harem vibe then you definitely need to give this series a read & I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
‘Silvercrest Guardians’ is full of romance, mystery, action, magic and so much more!
I just loved this second book in this series. Calla is at the stronghold now and sent to train with the other recruits where rumors abound about who she is. Rohan is told by his order to constantly watch her and to kill her if she shows any magic. Leander is trying to keep control of his stronghold and protect Calla but people close to him work against him. Galen knows there is more to Calla and believes her dragonkin Luin is the key. When another recruit saves Calla from fully revealing her magic and what she is, she starts to trust him, but her three men have their doubts about him.
When Calla is forced to run from the stronghold, will this newcomer and her three men stand by her? Does this newcomer really have the answers to who Calla is?
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
This story is something else. It has intrigue, danger, mystery and something else I can’t thing of a word that describes it. It is something like “The Lord of the Rings”. This is a little over half way through the whole story, I think there are three books. So there is a lot more to cover yet. God! I hope it’s not one with four books. I would crumble if it is. Really, really, good story. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I love how this book picks up almost immediately after the events of the last ended. I love Calla for her flaws, her insecurities, and the strength that she has inside. These characteristics make her such a great main character! Devin becomes an interesting addition to the group and I FINALLY got the answer to the question of who Luin is. There are some steamy moments, but I think I like seeing the guys battle their own feelings for Calla as much as the steamy interludes. I cannot wait to see where the next book will take Calla and her guys.
