No more wild rides. No more wild side.Blake Orbison’s pro football career with the Portland Devils may have come crashing to an end, but not calling the signals anymore just gives him more time to devote to his business enterprises, including the latest and greatest: the opening of the Wild Horse Resort in scenic north Idaho. And that other one, too. Blake’s on the marriage track now, and he’s … now, and he’s got a game plan. But when he runs into a trespasser leaping from his shoreline boulders into his lake, what’s a good ol’ boy to do but strip down and join her?
Dakota Savage is nobody’s temporary diversion, least of all the man responsible for her family’s semi-desperate circumstances. Some people may think she has a piercing too many, but she’s had more than enough of being called trash in this town. She’s come home to Wild Horse to run her stepfather’s painting business, and any extra time she has goes into creating her stained glass. An overpaid, entitled, infuriating NFL quarterback is no part of her life plan, no matter how sweet he talks. No matter how slow he smiles. No matter what.

A really good story with lots of twist as well as whimsical and funny moments. Though it is a happily ever after on several incidents it was very doutfull.A very good read.
I loved this book! The story centers around Blake, a retired quarterback and Dakota, a house painter. The story line seemed pretty typical at first, but soon developed more depth as the characters came to life and their side stories revealed. There’s romance, mystery and some steamy scenes as well. What’s not to love?
I love Blake and Dakota’s story. Ms. James’ characters always feel real and have so much depth. Highly recommended!
Some people can be so judgemental, especially about things they don’t even really know about. Dakota has had a hard life. She was wrongly judged based on who her parents are and because of the wards of two spoilt privileged boys that violated her and blamed her instead. It’s an interesting, emotional, engaging, romantic and realistic story.
Loved it!
Great characters! A little mystery thrown in with a lot of romance.
Fantastic characters who tugged at the heart.
Entertaining
Blake Orbison, a former pro football player, is opening the Wild Horse Resort in scenic north Idaho. He is also on the marriage track. He sees a trespasser leaping from his shoreline boulders into his lake, so he strips down and joins her. Dakota is nobody’s temporary diversion, least of all the man responsible for her family’s semi-desperate circumstances. Some people think she has too many piercings, but she is tired of being considered trash. She came home to run her stepfather’s painting business. She creates stained glass in her extra time. An infuriating former NFL quarterback is not part of her life plan, no matter how sweet he talks or smiles. – Blake is an entertaining character. He is good, but some expect bad things from him. Dakota had a bad childhood and has bad memories of her time in Wild Horse, Idaho. I felt sorry for her but admired her strength. I liked Dakota’s stepfather and Blake’s parents. Blake is a multimillionaire and enjoys giving Dakota things she has never had. She is appreciative, and they are sweet together. This is a good love story with some drama.
I don’t normally read Sports Romances, but this one was light on the sports and big on the story. There were lots of great things in this book like the wonderful characters, the romantic tension, and a dash of suspense. Surprisingly, my favorite part was the dialogue.
Rosalind James continues to amaze, and I find she never disappoints me. This book is the first in a new series. I loved it. Blake and Dakota were quite a pair. Blake had an idea about what he needed in a woman after his NFL career. Dakota had her own ideas about Blake as a person. Both were wrong. They were sweet, funny, and vulnerable.
I loved this book because it was about basically good people that have been through difficult moments in their lives, and were working through them. Her characters are not perfect. They make mistakes. They have baggage. But, they find something in that other person that they haven’t found in anyone else.
The great thing about Rosalind James’ books is the way she writes a romance. I wish I had the right words for it. You get caught up in the storyline, the romance, the feelings of her characters. It’s very easy to lose yourself.. I love the cadence of the dialogue between her characters.
The secondary characters like Russell and Evan make you want books for them too. Just to see where life takes them. Maybe some of Blake’s teammates will even get their own book.
In this book, you also get some mystery and suspense. What more can you want?
I loved the characters in this book, and especially fell in love with the hero. Rosalind is one of my new favorite authors.
