*No spoilers* I loved this book so hard. And I think Valentin Nikolaev is one of my favorite heroes. Ever. I love this entire series, but I have to say, for me, this was an exceptional story.
4.5 stars
“Trust to a Mercant is a complicated thing. It usually requires years of acquaintance, several background checks, and a probationary period.” —Ena Mercant (circa 2074)
Silver Mercant is the director of the worldwide emergency response network, EmNet. The last thing she needs in her busy life in a pushy alpha bear. But when an assassin almost succeeds in poisoning her, she allows herself to be hidden in the safety of StoneWaters denhome.
While I was excited for a new series in this world I was a little concerned that I would be bored with it. But this book took me back to the first books in the Psy-Changeling series, which are my favorite. While I have enjoyed her newer books, I felt they were centered more around the overarching story instead of the romance. This one was all about the romance and I loved it.
Another reason I loved this book was that it was bear shifters. They were the best. They were curious, kind, protective, and just so perfect I couldn’t help but love them all. I especially loved the Alpha, Valentin Nikolaev. He had such a huge heart that I just couldn’t help but love him. It was so easy to see why a Psy like Silver would fall for this brash, curious, and protective bear.
“Love is no rose. It’s a goddamn weed that digs its roots in so deep, there’s no hope of getting it out.” —Nina Valance, human novelist married to a telekinetic (circa 1977)
Silver has been a quiet but key presence in Kaleb’s business. I have always been curious about her and her family so I was happy to see her get her own book. Not only do I love how smart and capable Silver is, I loved how courageous she was. She was willing to break her silence even if it meant possible insanity. I quite liked her.
“I have no problem with who I am….I am made up of all parts of me, and they are all critical to Silver Fucking Mercant.”
Another thing I enjoyed about this book was the theme of family. The bears are a tight knit community that take care of each other. But we also see the family bond with the Mercant’s. Ena is a powerful matriarch and alpha in her own right who will do anything to protect her family, especially Silver. We also meet Arwen, Silver’s brother, who is an E-Psy and the heart of the Mercant family. I really hope we get more of these two, especially Arwen. This was a great beginning for a spin-off series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is one book I have looked forward to all year. It was a hit too. Silver Mercant is being courted by Valentin Nikolaev a Russian bear shifter. Great book.wonderful characters.
I loved this book. I reread Allegiance of Honor before I read this based on some of the reviews. It really wasn’t necessary as the story held it’s own. Silver and Valentin were great characters. Very entertaining. I’ll read this one again.

Remarkable. Unforgettable. Emotional.
Before you even get started. Have a box of tissues by your side. Yes, you will cry for so many reasons.
Silver Silence was an emotional and unforgettable read. So many things are at play. We get old favorites, new enemies, and several new arrivals to fall in love with.
I had goosebumps just from the first page. “Welcome to the Age of Trinity”
The Bears. They where wonderful, adorable, and sweet. I loved visiting a whole new set of changelings and their pack. Valentine, I loved him. I went through a number of emotions when it came to Valentine and the challenges he had to go through to win Silver. He was just so wonderful with Silver and he never gave up. Silver, I loved her. She was amazing. It was wonderful to visit a different Psy family and see that they are just as tight-knit as any changeling pack. This line from the book best describes Silver and well all the Mercant’s: “To be a Mercant is to be a shadow that moves with will, with intelligence, with purified precision.”
Silver Silence is all about change and a new direction for Humans, Changelings, and Psy. The book is divided up into two parts. This helps show the changes that accrue and will accrue at these points. Many unexpected things happen. Somewhere a punch to the gut, while others had me overjoyed.
This was an extraordinary start to the new Pay-Changeling Trinity series. Once you start, you won’t want to stop. I LOVED it!

Awesome book!
Extension of Nalini Singh’s extensive world building.
I love the Psy-Changeling and Trinity Series. The characters are believable for a slightly sci-fi type series. Sure they can do things that we’ll never be able to do, but their personalities and conflicts are absolutely believable. Silver and Valentin are an odd couple but perfect together. I absolutely recommend this or any other Psy-Changeling book!! Really any Nalini Singh book, though I am behind on the other series.
A prolific author and this is the start of a spin-off series. Decent characterisation, well thought out plot and, an easy read.
Download a sample and give it a try.
A new season, new cast members take center stage, a new insidious threat arises, and I am all anticipation for the opening of the Psy-Changling Trinity era.
Silver Silence is part of the ongoing Psy-Changeling series as #16, but it also has the distinction of being the first of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series. I know a great many people see this as a good opportunity to jump in and skip what came before since this is Season Two, but I really wouldn’t advise it. If you care about the worldbuilding details, the whole previous large cast of characters who some of which are part of this one, and the plot threads that began and some still continue into this one then you’ll want to go back to the beginning. That said, newbies to Singh and the series would not be utterly lost to jump in here though they would definitely feel the knowledge of all the connections of this book to what came before it.
So, this is, the Psy, Silver Mercant’s story. Silver has been a minor character as has her family through the last quarter of the first season. I was eager to get her story and learn more about her enigmatic and powerful family who operate in the shadows. Silver and the Mercant clan definitely lived up to my expectation.
As did the plot on this one. The Consortium is still working to over throw the new tentative era of peace and the Trinity Accord, but it is now joined by a new volatile group who want the three races (Psy, Changeling, and humans) to go back to keeping separate. As a result, there are terrorist attacks, attempts to infiltrate and bring down the peaceful organizations and their leaders from within, and attempts to turn people to betray their own. Silver is poisoned and meant to die making the world’s emergency response network go down.
But, this does not happen because we have a new player on the scene and my favorite part of the book. Valentin Nikolaev, the Stone Water bear changeling clan, just stole the whole show for me. This huge confident bear of a man and bear shifter fell for the ice cold Silver and he pursued her with a gusto. Okay, actually, the whole clan of bear changelings were too much and scenes just sparkled with color and liveliness. But as Valentin’s story was laid out, he just grew even better and as he stalked his mate, I was captivated right along with Silver.
Amber eyes stared into her own, her Valyusha’s forehead pressed to hers. His generous heart deserved to never again feel pain, but she knew he’d endure it because that was who he was. An alpha to the core. A man who had never let her down.
“Silver F-king Mercant, Ice Queen… Lyubov moya.” His voice shook on the words of love. “You will be that to me to my dying day. If the worst happens and you need me, call. I’ll be there. I’ll always be there.” p. 326 Valentin to Silver in Silver Silence
I found this book a slow build on all points, but it does get there and riveted me to my seat. I saw so much to adore and appreciate and leave me with a long list of characters that I need their story yesterday.
So, this new season got off to a bang-up start and I’m going to struggle waiting until next year for what comes next. Do not be intimidated by the length of the series. It is worth it to go from book one and arrive at this fantastic latest entry, PNR fans.
I am a Nalini Singh stan and loved the Psy Changeling series and Valentin and Silver are just one of my favorite couples!!
This I believe has replaced Drew’s story as my favorite. If I could live in this world, I’d want to be a bear.
First this narrator is awesome. She could make the alphabet sound good. Then a first rate author and the book is off the chart paranormal. Romance. mystery, intrigue. suspense, thriller. Has it all.
Psy/Bear changeling pairing
A good majority of this book was set in the bear changelings territory. Just like all the other changelings, the bears are very protective and loving of their young. The kids are just adorable and I fall for these characters even more because of how well they treat them. I also love to see a Psy who is mostly silent interact with the kids. The young do not know they shouldn’t talk or touch or play. It forces the Psy to be more human. I really enjoy that part of the story. Plus, we got introduced to so many new characters that make for so many new possibilities to come. I’m looking forward to more.
SILVER SILENCE is the first book in a new story arc in the Psy-Changeling universe. I gotta tell you, I absolutely devoured this book! It was so exciting and funny and heartfelt and just about destroyed me!
Right away we (the readers) are swept into a dangerous and deadly new world where the humans, Changelings (animal shapeshifters) and Psy (psychically enhanced) are trying to coexist peacefully. Not everyone, however, wants peace. I was glued to my Kindle screen the entire time!
In reading previous Psy-Changeling books, I’ve struggled at times trying to keep up with the politics aspect of the books, but not with SILVER SILENCE. I was easily able to follow all the storylines and the political nuances. It’s an exciting and amazing book and I cannot WAIT for the next one!
Can we talk about Valentin? Oh my goodness! He is hands down the best hero I’ve ever read! I fell in love with that big bear so hard and fast! I melted every single time he romanced his Silent Silver. Where can I get me a Changeling alpha bear? Sign me up!
What I really loved about this book was the exquisite balance of danger and humor. The StoneWater bear clan was the comic relief and had me laughing out loud when I wasn’t crying or squeezing my Kindle in suspense!
Nalini Singh made magic once again with this timeless love story. SILVER SILENCE is the BEST book of 2017 thus far. Amazing is such an inadequate word to describe how wonderful this story is. I highly recommend and strongly encourage everyone to pick up SILVER SILENCE or any one of Nalini Singh’s books!
***I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***
I’ve long been a fan of Nalini Singh’s work, but her Psy-Changeling series is my absolute favorite. I’ve been hoarding the last few releases, reading them whenever I have a chance, and I looked forward to Silver’s story. From the moment Valentin appeared in the first chapter, I loved how the brash yet loving bear alpha “played” with Silver, and how the seemingly icy Psy gave as good as she got. Though there were twists and turns in their paths, Singh gave us a wonderfully rich novel, full of family, love, and hope. I look forward to reading Bowen’s story next, and seeing what happens to him considering the ending to this novel.
I love this whole series; I buy them as soon as they are released! Silver Silence is one of the new ones and was very good!
Silver Silence is the first book in the Psy/Changeling Trinity series and here we get a Bear changeling and a Psy. I loved this story. It evoked a range of emotions from me and had me hooked from start to finish. The story was exciting, gripping and engrossing. I loved seeing the relationship blossom between our two main characters. Valentin never gave up even though he knew he was up against a Psy and I loved that about him. I loved the addition of the bear cub. They stole every scene they were in and I absolutely loved them.
I listened to the audible version of this novel. I loved the narration. Angela Dawe did an excellent job with the characters and brought them to life most especially the bear cubs. This was a phenomenal read and i would highly recommended it to all lovers of Paranormal romance.

I have been waiting for Silver to have her own book since we met her and let me tell you the wait was so worth it , Silver is such an awesome kick ass chick ,i loved how she interacted with Valentin when he breaks into her building ,the banter between them is so good ,Valentin gets under silver’s skin and it was great to see how she was able to accept emotions and fight for Valentin and herself .
Omg Valentin is totally swoon worthy 🙂 he’s funny, charming and sneaky & like the perfect guy to show Silver how to love , he definitely had his work cut out for him but he never gave up even when it was looking like Silver might never come back to him after everything that happens , he was so head over heels in love with her and i just loved how their story unfolded ,i was rooting for them the second they stepped on the page 🙂
