I can not tell you how excited I was to read Billy Harrington and Roxanne McAllister’s story. The cover alone will put a smile on your face.. Billy is every woman’s sexy playboy. He’s built a reputation as a lady’s man after his divorce years back. When he discovers that one of his many one night stands produced a sixteen year old daughter (Sadie), he started to rethink his image. Sadie’s mom has passed away and her aunt Roxanne “Roxie” is her legal guardian. Roxie and Billy have been at odds with each other since she’s opened a bookstore close to Billy’s bar. Their battles are explosive but their “low key” attraction for each other can no longer be denied. The beginning goal was to make Sadie as happy as possible and make her a part of Billy’s family. Now one of Billy’s goals is trying to convince Roxie to be a part of something he thought he would never share with another woman, which is love . I enjoyed the reintroduction of some of the Harringtons from the previous book in this series and looking forward to reading the upcoming books this year! L.B. Dunbar is a master of writing 40 plus/grown and sexy romance! You will love reading this book as well as other books written by this author !
Sparks are flying & this story hits the ground running from the first line & doesn’t stop until the last word. Hold on for a wild Rollercoaster ride.
I always knew there was more to Billy Harrington then what everyone thought they saw in him. He didn’t care what people thought of him. No matter what the truth was or wasn’t; it was always Billys fault. His world turns upside down when a 16 yr girl walks into the Pub looking for Billy Harrington her father. Then it gets more complicated she happens to be Roxie the thorn in his side book store owners Niece. I found myself getting really aggravated with Roxie and at times yelling at her; not saying billy didn’t need smacked but she just really made me mad how she treated him at times. She needed to get her head out of you know where & stop believing the rumors and believe what she sees in front of her & how Billy is treating her. Billy needs to stop going into that defensive mode acting like an Arse to push people away before he gets hurt again & it’s easier to live up to everyone’s expectations of being the player that screws everything up. They both need to step up. Find out if a 16 yr Sadie who they both love can knock some sense into them both & become the family they are meant to become.
Yes, another Silver Fox to add to the collection! Come on in and meet the real Billy Harrington. He’s not the player you think he is!! This was a very heart felt book. I loved the dynamic between Roxie, Billy and Sadie. It was great getting to watch them all navigate their new normal and grow together.
There are secrets exposed. Lives changed forever. A love/hate relationship brought to its knees (literally at one point). This book dragged me in and hit me over the head right out the gate then kept me along for the full ride! What a HOT ride it was too!!
Ok, so I’m not really sure what I can say about LB & her Silver Foxes, other than they are what Fantasies are made of!
Billy is that easy-going “Player” of the Harrington men, but in reality, he’s been deeply wounded & self-conscience of never being good enough, worth it or measuring up. So what does an ALPA Male in this position do, well…. He plays into the “Reputation” he has around town as a way of keeping up his wall.
Roxie, she is the quintessential Book Worm, yet she has a sharp tongue & uses it to spar with Billy often. She believes all of the rumors about Billy.
Everyone on the outside looking in can clearly see the attraction two have for one another. Sometimes its fun to watch them spar, but other times its frustrating. Gotta Love Clyde for being the one to know when to push them together & when to pull them apart. And mostly for his wisdom & calling Billy out on crap.
Now add into this mix Sadie, sweet Sadie. Her mom was Roxie’s older sister & died in an accident, at 16 she goes to live with her Aunt. She is hurting, grieving and finds out who her father is. She may not have been raised in Blue Ridge with the Harringtons but she’s definitely got their attitude.
Billy’s road to learning he has a child he never knew of, getting to know her, learning how to be a father and navigating his growing feelings for her aunt is a long winding one. I can’t say that Roxie’s is any easier, she faces losing the one last remaining family member she has left.
This story will bring out many emotions, I teared up at parts & I wanted to throw my kindle across the room at other parts. I wanted to scream at both Billy & Roxie at times. I wanted to Hug Sadie at times. And ok I may or may not have wanted to Slap a fake boobed blonde upside the head.
I don’t care what anyone says (not that anyone is saying it), no one writes Silver Fox and over 40 beautiful women better than LB Dunbar. It’s easy to read the blurb and think you know exactly where this story is going. Just do yourself a favor and give this one a shot. You will soon find out that Billy is not this empty headed player who cares about nothing more than dipping his wick. He is sooooo much more than that and whether or not we like it, he has reasons for the way he has been for the last however many years. Roxanne is a wonderfully feisty beautiful woman who had me truly laughing because I can’t tell you how many times I wish I could just say what she says and just carry myself the way I want to without overthinking what everyone will think. The sparks these two create should set the town on fire and when they finally get on the same page, nothing can stop them. There are hurdles though but watching these two finally love THEMSELVES and believe in themselves is the journey I would take again.
Silver Player is the second of four books in ‘The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge’ series by LB Dunbar. Writing over 40’s stories is LB forte, and it shows here.
This is Billy Harrington’s story, he’s the local pub owner and is a man who likes to do things his way. He’s seen as a player, but this is all down to his past and when he meets Roxanne, it’s in an unfortunate way. They do NOT hit if off, at all.
Now, three years later, they’re always picking and poking at each other, but when a past secret he never knew about arrives in his pub, he’s forced to be more than cordial with the woman he loves to hate.
Roxanne doesn’t know how to stop fighting with Billy when all she really wants is for him to kiss her… and more. It takes a special person to open their eyes and show them that there really is a fine line between love and hate and they’ve crossed over it already.
There’s plenty of flirty banter and sexy innuendo as well and scorching chemistry between Billy and Roxie. They were my kind of people and I loved reading their story. I was sad to finish but happy with how it finished.
Let’s talk about all the intense feelings L.B. Dunbar put inside this mindblowing silver fox romance. They twisted my heart. They pulled my soul in every possible direction. They put me through heaven of swoonworthy feelings and hell of angsty heartbreaks. Silver Player is one magnificent romance from all perspective!
Billy Harrington is the proverbial black sheep of the family and the well known player in Blue Ridge. Even after working tirelessly and sincerely for years and succeeding in making their family business of brewery big; he never feels accepted wholeheartedly or acknowledged by his family members. So when a sixteen year girl appears at his doorway and claims to be his daughter, his first reaction was not very nice. Specially after he came to know that Sadie is niece of his quintessential next door enemy and owner of Bookends, Roxanne. But he wants to know his daughter and be a part of her life and take care of her. And that means he has to spend a lot of time with the only woman in town who despises his easy going, flirty and casual way of living. But as he spends time with her, he falls in love with her…and that is terrifying to him! Does a tiger change his stripes afte all?
I loved Roxie! She is a perfect combination of delicate and dainty. I can feel her pain and loneliness so deep inside me. She is lonely and afraid to lose Sadie even when she wants Sadie to have a family. She does not trust Billy and she is constantly fighting her overwhelming attraction to him. She is a very real and instantly relatable character with very practical issues with self esteem, self worth, insecurities, vulnerabilities and heartbreaks. She tried to protect her heart by pushing Billy away but also opened herself to the same infuriating man. I love her love for Sadie. She loves completely, compassionately and unconditionally. They have a phenomenal chemistry. I enjoyed every moment of their bittersweet and witty bickering. My heart was melting with the delicious slow burn. And it was so amazing when it exploded! They hurt each other as they are both unreasonably stubborn and have a strong sense of self protection. But Billy finally made everything right. Oh my heart had no chance against charm of this gorgeous and intense man! He is grossly misunderstood but I am in love with the good man behind mask if sarcasm and cynicism . I loved how L.B. Dunbar made them work for the happily ever after!
I think silver fox and I immediately also think of L.B. Dunbar. She is the queen of this unique trope and she gives us a mature, sensational and soul deep story every single time! Silver Player was another exceptional story of love, friendship and family!

This is Billy and Roxy’s story and what a fantastic addition this is to a phenomenal series. These two are like petrol and a march, but they have something in common that draws them together, and the chemistry between these two is undeniable and explosive. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story which is filled with secrets, bickering, witty banter, humour and love. I was completely hooked throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all readers.
Oh, my goodness!
This is a very intense, even explosive enemies-to-lovers romance, another fantastic book within this series, and I really devoured it. It’s a story about new opportunities in life, about new beginnings and forgiveness…
Billy and Roxie are both one of a kind, unique in so many ways. I could understand their hesitation to commit after what they’ve both been through. They are great characters with multi-faceted personalities, tough and caring, heartwarming and resilient, so brilliantly created that you expect them to stand beside you, as real as they seem.
But sometimes they made me scream with frustration about how they interact with each other, that they don’t pay enough attention to the little signs, that they don’t communicate enough, which leads to so many misunderstandings… I really wanted to talk some sense into them…
And as always with these silver foxes, I can’t get enough and can’t wait for Charlie’s story.
5 Stars for Silver Player! Ms. Dunbar has again put together a perfect combination of a wonderful story, memorable characters that you will fall in love with and fantastic writing with entertaining banter between the characters that will have you frustrated with them one minute and smiling the next.
There is a fine line between love and hate and Billy and Roxie carefully walked that line until they finally fell off on the same side together! These two both dealt with their own insecurities and a lot of misunderstandings but their common bond, their love for Sadie, propelled them to continue to communicate and work together. What neither of them expected was to have strong feelings for each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed Roxie as a character. She had a lot on here plate so she tended to keep to herself and except for the irritating pub owner across the street things were going ok for her.
I will admit I had a tough time warming up to Billy Harrington, but as he started uncovering his layers it was evident that there was so much more to him than anyone ever understood and so much about home to love. He just had to find the right woman to share his secrets with and Roxie challenged him, frustrated him but she also intrigued him and he couldn’t help but be drawn to her.
Another Harrington to fall in love with.
This story has so many layers of feels. The sparring and tension between Billy and Roxie is tangible. You feel the Billy’s venerability as he comes to terms of being Sadie’s father. Roxie, as her life is becoming upended again. Sadie acclimating and coming to terms of her mothers’ death and a newly discovered father. The story draws you in, I didn’t want to put it down.
Another sexy silver fox from L.B. Dunbar! At times I loved Billy and Roxy, and at times I hated them. They were both very stubborn. I loved how hot their chemistry was. They both loved Sadie, and wanted what was best for her. If only they could find a way to get along, at least for Sadie’s sake. They both have trouble letting go of the past, and don’t want to risk getting hurt. Will the sparks set of a fire and bring them together, or will their chance go up in flames because of misunderstandings?
I felt the sparks between Billy and Roxie from the beginning! The banter and barbs were intriguing and captivated me from the get go!
There was more to Billy than met the eye and when Sadie came into his life I knew things could only get more interesting especially with her relation to Roxie and I was invested on how things would turn out between all of them.
L.B. Dunbar has the knack of writing relatable 40 something characters and all the thoughts, insecurities and experiences that come with living life in real time! Loved this story and Billy!
I haven’t read th eothre books in this series but it didn’t matter as this can be read as a standalone. Billy and Roxie was fun to read and I loved that the characters were over 40 and so relateable to me. When we first meet Billy he thinks he’s getting hit on by a young girl who comes into his bar but to his shock she is the daughter he never knew about. Roxie is Sadie’s aunt and also a woman who Billy has an antagonistic relationship with. As they are forced to spend time together the friction between them turns to attraction and oh my do they burn hot. I loved the way nothing was a quick fix, all of them had to work hard. The struggles felt real the way Billy dealt with it made me smile even when he was mucking up I could tell he just didn’t know what to do for the best. Roxie was written so well, her grief her confusion and acceptance of the situation was done beautifully. If like me you have been looking for a good romance with older characters I would recommend you give this one a try.
It’s always fun to read about enemies to lovers trope.
Despite the MC’s been on the »older« side they still had some issues that had me rolling my eyes waaay back into my head. When I looked past his man-whore ways; this was an OK and fun read. The banter was funny, chemistry was there and don’t even get me started on the drama.
I know how hard is to look past mistakes, wrong doings and all in between. These two have had their share of problems and overview of life. But I’ll admit that I did enjoy (as I do always) seeing bad boy transforming into a man who was worth Roxie’s time and afford.
Do I wish Billy didn’t have a past as he does? Yes but I think that would take away from this story. All in all I’ve enjoyed myself.

Billy is in the shock of his life when he finds out he has a daughter. Add on to that shock when he finds out that Roxanne (the woman who acts like she can’t stand him) is her aunt. Billy’s mouth gets him in so much trouble. I was totally amazed by some of the things that came out of his mouth. I swear I literally groaned out loud and was like oh no, you didn’t! smh
Then Roxanne, for the love of Pete woman, I REALLY wanted to chat with her too!!! It’s like STOP, let it go and so much more that I wanted to say to her!
Sadie has lost so much in such a short time and then finds her dad who has no clue on how to be a dad. He tries, they all need to work together to make this work. Will it be enough though?
Will everyone figure out what they want and how to get it before it’s too late?
This book has it all! I laughed, I cried, I yelled at both Billy and Roxie. Oh at times I wanted to slap them both, and I loved it! This book kept me turning the page dying to know what was going to happen next. Billy and Roxie’s chemistry was off the charts, if only they could each get out of their own way.
This is one of my new favorite LBD books
I love everything about The Harrington Family but if I’m honest when I first picked this book up Billy Harrington wasn’t a man I liked but as I turned the pages I got to know the man behind the walls and I found myself falling for him…..
Billy’s life is about to turn upside down when he finds out he has a teenage daughter, it’s a shock especially when she strolls into his bar and calls him dad. Sadie has just lost her mum and has just moved into town to live with her aunt. Roxanne will do whatever is needed to keep Sadie with her the last thing she wants is Billy taking her away but Billy and Roxanne hate each other, they seem to butt heads over everything so how can they agree on giving Sadie what’s best for her, can they put their differences aside and become the family Sadie desperately wants …..
One of the great things about this story was getting to know Billy and Roxanne, getting to see the real people prepared to do what is needed for Sadie, this is an emotional read but it also heartwarming with the perfect mix of love, passion and humour, it captivated me and I found myself wanting more.
I love my times with this family and I can’t wait to see where this very talented author takes us next.
I am loving the Harrington family and this series. and Silver Player is the next book that is about Billy Harrington and Roxanne McAllister. The tension and back and forth between these two will have you laughing and screaming and wanting to shake some sense into both of them. But sometimes things are not as they seem and what is being shown on the outside is really masking what is going on on the inside. And this book goes to show that not everything is as it seems on the surface and one must go deeper to really find the soul of a person. Thank you LB Dunbar for another great over 40 romance!
Some books really hit home, they hit their mark on your heart because of the personal connection you feel. Silver Player was a home run, slam dunk, touchdown for me. I don’t give out 5-stars just willy-nilly—a book has to earn those, but Billy and Roxie’s story did just that.
The heroine in Silver Player, Roxanne, endeared herself to me in an unforgettable way. She is strong, loyal, giving, and a fierce bear mama. She steps up to the plate when she is needed and wants to protect her club above all else. She is also open to love, open to a man who is ready to promise her his heart is hers alone and is ready to promise to take care of her heart.
I love the silver fox romance stories from L.B. Dunbar. They have characters with life experiences I can relate to. They have characters with traits I’m attracted to. They capture my attention and take me away for an escape I cannot get anywhere else.
I just finished Silver Player and it was amazing. It touched me — I felt the pain and the love from both Billy and Roxanne. I loved their bickering and I loved how real the author made characters. I felt their desire to be accepted, to feel worthy and most of all, to have someone approve and be proud of their accomplishments. This was the crux of the story for me but listening to Billy toot his own horn was a lot of fun too. I also loved the snippets of comical events that blended with the life these characters have. They’ve both lived a life that veered off onto a path they never expected. They are both hiding their true feelings inside and protecting their hearts from the pain of betrayal and loneliness. They’ve come together in an unconventional way which could be awkward, but they turned casual into complicated and found their way to each other through a surprising connection.
Both of them want the best for 16-year-old Sadie but fear of losing her sets them on a path of missed opportunities and miscommunication. Luckily for them, Sadie sees through the walls they’ve constructed and what really lies within their hearts, and since 16-year-olds know a thing or two about relationships and romance, she sets out to help these two make the choices they want to make but are just afraid to jump into.
At first glance, you may think Silver Player is just another romance book where the guy spots the woman of his dreams across the room and he drops his playboy ways in order to win her heart. Perhaps some of that is true for Billy and Roxie, but they never lost sight of their mutual goal of providing a loving and caring family for Sadie. They still manage to steam up their world like teenagers might do and that makes this story that much more fun. New relationships shouldn’t have to resort to pickup trucks and squelching their moans to hide from a teenager but that’s part of what makes this story so much fun.
Tragedy has struck Sadie’s life and grief takes time to be processed. It hits at different times, sometimes for unknown reasons. As adults, we process as best we can, but children can retreat into themselves, getting lost in the overwhelming changes and lash out at the very people who are also doing their best comfort them.
L.B. Dunbar seems to have taken a page out of my life–this could be my story. There are a few differences, but I’ve been in Roxanne’s shoes, I’m living Roxanne’s life, and I applaud the author for including all the unpleasant aftereffects of death in this romance. All the elements came together and made for a beautiful story of acceptance and love. Billy Harrington may have the reputation of a Player, but he truly has a heart of gold and any woman would be lucky to have him.
I encourage you to read Billy and Roxie’s story. It’s a real keeper, just like both of them.
