Billy Harrington is the biggest player in Blue Ridge, only his wild card is about to be tabled by a feisty silver vixen.Billy Harrington.A young girl walks into a bar… teen.
And the one person who could help me the most is my nemesis.
Roxanne McAllister.
I should hate him for being her father.
Only I don’t fault him for sleeping with my sister.
This is the story of my life.
I’ve always been runner-up to my older sibling.
Then tragedy strikes—again—and I’m left with a dilemma.
Can I count on the person I despise the most in Blue Ridge?

Although we all know we should never judge a book by the cover, I think we all do, at least in certain situations. This book, well, it opens your heart a little, in my opinion. It opens the possibility to recognize that you might be wrong about someone. I know I have been.
This is one of my favorites by L.B. Dunbar. I have loved all of her books. I have cherished many heroes in my heart (I’m looking at you, Jess. Always.). But this book, this guy, he almost makes it to the top. I love him so much. I love his frustration, his confusion, his heart, his kindness.
There is almost nothing better than L.B. Dunbar’s Silver Foxes.
Another great addiction to the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. This is the story of Billy the playboy brother we met in Silver Brewer, the daughter he never knew he had and the woman who now is raising her. Roxanne has no time or patients for Billy and his ways but that does stop her attraction, even though he chose her sister first (all those years ago). A story of family, fighting and undeniable attraction. Another fun and sexy with the over 40 crowd.
These sexy silver foxes have stolen my heart! Billy Harrington is a wonderful surprise in Silver Player. Second Chance romances are one of my favorites! Roxie’s doubts are crippling to her emotions. Their story is complicated , frustrating, sexy, emotional and wonderous! LB Dunbar has made me a fan for life. Her work is so unique and I love every book she has written!
I really liked Roxanne. She had me into this book right from the beginning. Now Billy I had to warm up to a bit. The more we get to know him the more I begin to like him. Billy and Roxanne are put into an awkward situation. Two people who aren’t fans of one another are now thrown together for the rest of their lives. One of my favorite parts of the book is the banter between Billy and Roxanne. The position that Billy finds himself in brings out the best of him because we realize the guy that’s been hiding underneath comes to the surface. This was an easy book to get lost in. The characters are great and it shows different family dynamics. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
LB Dunbar has become a one-click author for me, and seasoned, mature, or silver-fox romance has become one of my favorites because of books like Silver Player. I caught a glimpse of Billy Harrington in earlier books in this series and knew his story would be good and there was no disappointment. Billy has a reputation as a player since his divorce, no one until Roxie knew why he needed that cover, no one knew how damaged and hurt he was. Roxie was just what Billy needed someone to need him. Finding out he had Sadie, a sixteen-year-old daughter with an attitude was a shock but that’s when you really find out what kind of a man Billy is, with Roxie’s help they become a unit, a family. This enemies to friends to lovers relationship doesn’t come without angst and bumps along the way. What shines is Roxie’s love for Sadie the niece she helped raise and Billy’s growing love for both Sadie and Roxie. This playboy really is the good guy….Loved this book!!
Well written and great characters have made this another hit for me. I love the older adult romance which is a nice switch up.
Billy family is well known in Blue Ridge and he is comfortable with his player ways shall we say. Roxanne owns the bookstore and she just wants to get answers for her niece after a life change. This forces these two neighbors who have argued to be in close quarters and try to work together. Billy is funny and sexy and Roxanne is quirky but a strong heroine. This story pulls at the heart strings at the same time will have you smiling. Another Silver hit!
Another great Silver Fox read. This one started off with a bang. Billy learns that he is a dad and it turns his life as the way he knows it upside down. What I loved most was the turmoil between Billy and Roxanne. I knew it was going to be a great read because the hated each other, making for an angsty read. As you read on you get to know the real Billy under all that playboy exterior, and you will love him.
Why should you read
– Great character
– Turmoil
– Angst
– Romance
– Unknown daughter
– Swoon
– Heartache
– Smooth story that sucks you in from a girl walks into a bar.
I love, love, love this series! Silver Player is Billy Harrington and Roxanne McAllister’s story.
Billy is 46 years old and he finds himself a dad of a sixteen year old Sadie. Roxanne is 41 and she is Sadie’s aunt. Sadie’s mother died tragically and now Roxanne is raising Sadie.
Billie is trying to step up and do the right thing now that he knows he has a daughter.
The struggle between Billie and Roxanne made me want to strangle them at times. They both were attracted to each other yet they both pushed each other away. Despite me wanting to do damage to Billie and Roxanne I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s great to read about couples that are not 20-30 somethings.
It looks like Silver Mayor is up next and I can’t wait to get my hands on that book! Keep on writing LB Dunbar! I need that next book pronto, please!
The next in the Harrington brothers/Silver Foxes series focuses on Billy.
Everyone in town thinks that Billy is a total player, and his divorce from his high school sweetheart was due to his cheating ways. Roxie, the bookstore owner with whom he loves to antagonize also believes these rumors, and hurls her insults at him freely. When Roxie’s niece turns out to be Billy’s daughter from a one-time fling from Roxie’s sister, their relationship turns complicated as they’re forced to interact for the sake of Sadie.
This is one of those books that focuses on more than just the couple. It’s about Billy and Roxie, Billy and Sadie, Billy and his family, and everyone’s perceptions (and misconceptions) that change relationships.
This was a good read, and you see some players connected to Billy from prior books make appearances. Looking forward to reading about the rest of the brothers!
Silver Player – The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge – L.B. Dunbar
L.B. Dunbar continues to deliver wonderfully grounded and real stories and Silver Player introduces us to the more from the Harrington Family.
We’ve met William Harrington (Billy) but he shines in his own right in this beautifully crafted story full of real life passion, drama and honesty.
Roxanne and Billy have the kind of chemistry that just draws you into a book and do they ever explore that chemistry with passion but also tentative caution. They explore some seriously emotion charged issues and deal with them in such a way, you feel like you’ve been part of their emotional journey together.
Billy just resonates the misunderstood player role while bookish Roxie gives credibility to her character, whilst both dealing with teenage angst and a huge helping of grief.
I’m totally hooked on this genre and I am dedicated LB Dunbar fan.
Now, just to hold out for Silver Mayor…. Charlie Harrington’s story and the next in the series.
This is my favorite of the series so far. I loved Billy, Roxie and Sadie and their growing relationship. It was a lot of fun reading about the past characters and seeing their stories intersect with this one. I can’t wait for the next book.
Silver Player
Oh man. I just love going into a book thinking that the hero is one thing, but finding out that he’s so much more.
“I want this woman. I want her comfort. I want her warmth, but most of all, I want her heart.” GAH! Our hero Billy has a reputation and that reputation is not all that it seems.
Roxanne is the perfect compliment to this complicated workhorse of a man just trying to make his own way in the Harrison family. She has such similar aspirations and goals and both of their lives are thrown out of balance: Billy’s with the knowledge of a teenage daughter he didn’t know existed, and Roxanne’s with Billy and the feelings he ignites within.
This is a steamy enemies to lovers story with a lot of heart and emotion I didn’t see coming. There are parenting tidbits and the drama that only a teenager can bring. It’s enjoyable and pulls at the heart without feeling terribly angsty, which can be tough to pull of, and the author does it seamlessly. Billy is such a thoughtful, romantic hero, he made me smile like a dope and my heart ache with the sweetness I would never have expected from this man.
What a wonderful follow up to “Silver Brewer” (even though you do not need to have read “Silver Brewer” to enjoy this- you should, because Giant and Letty are special too!)
Reading Silver Player by L.B. Dunbar had me feeling like a giddy schoolgirl, smiling at the latest crush, and throwing silent emotional tantrums. I had such a love-hate relationship with the main characters Billy Harrington and Roxanne McCallister, their lack of trust, judgment, insecurities and the inability to let go of the past had me wanting to scream. The bickering and heated sexual tension had me glued to every page.
Billy has a reputation as a ladies man, after his divorce, he didn’t care what people thought of him because he had something to prove to himself. Since Billy assumed that he was the disappointment in the family, it was no surprise when a 16-year-old girl reveals that he’s her father. Billy’s life takes a turn and now he has to step up to the plate. His connection with Sadie is heartfelt, the emotions of discovering one another are felt. Sadie is a strong character but her pain of loss pulled at my heartstrings.
Roxie is a book store owner, her nemesis is the one and only pub owner and neighbor Billy. Roxie’s insecurities are high wired and understandably so due to feeling second-best to her older sister. Moving away, returning home to open her own business was a dream come true. Roxie would have never thought that she would be raising her niece in Blue Ridge. The hard part for Roxie isn’t raising a teenager it’s trying not to fall for the man that slept with her sister and father to her niece but Billy Harrington is not making it easy.
Dunbar is my go-to author when it comes to silver foxes and over forty romance. The Harrington family has this way about them when it comes to being there for each other and those that come into their lives. This family loves so strong, the siblings have vices but they have this way to be there for each other and to me, that’s what makes this story so heart hitting. It doesn’t hurt that the sexual chemistry between Billy and Roxie is so hot that it heats up my kindle. Silver Player has a great storyline, quotes that left me breathless, and characters that left me wanting so much more.
5 I LOVE IT STARS!!!
I don’t know about y’all, but I fucking HATE cold weather. During the winter months I basically hibernate like a bear and tend to have the same temperament, but it’s also the time of year that I do the most reading. There is something about curling up in my big comfy bed with a mug of hot tea and a good book that I just love and the only thing that makes it even better is when I can really and truly get lost in the story. This is one of those stories. It immediately sucked me in and I loved every minute of it, even the parts that broke my heart. It was all the things that make me love a book: happy, sad, funny, swoonworthy, hopeful, and a bit of angst. I especially loved the personal growth of the H, seeing him go from “manwhore” to loving Dad and partner was super sweet and very realistic. My favorite thing about this author is how she is able to fully relay to the reader who the characters are and what motivates them. Good, bad, and ugly she puts it all out there and they seem so REAL, that’s what makes the experience of reading her books such a good one for me. It also helps that her characters are around my age and so very relatable, which is something that’s hard to find the older I get. L.B. has quickly become one of my favorite authors and in my humble opinion, this is her best book yet!
*Huge thanks to the author, L.B. Dunbar, for the ARC! While getting free books is always awesome, it does not influence my reading experience…if it’s crap, I’ll say it’s crap whether or not I paid for it.
Swooony, sexy and full of humor.
This author has the silver fox situation down pact.
This silver fox installment has a bit of a twist to keep things real, and completely entertaining from beginning to end.
The writing was smart, refreshing, and full of unexpected surprises.
Now let’s see the silver vixens please!
I love all these silver foxes that L. B. Dunbar brings to us. I really enjoyed this story about Billy, Roxie and Sadie. There were so much miss communication between Billy and Roxanne that I was crying by the time the happily ever after got there. Even though I was an emotional wreck this book was so worth it. I can’t wait for Charlie’s story.
This latest installment is Billy and Roxie’s story. It’s definitely my favorite so far in this series. A fabulous “enemies to lovers” story! Definitely recommend!!
I savored every page of this story! Love these over 40 romances from LB Dunbar, they are so original and seem so real life on the pages. Life over 40 can be messy, Roxie and Billie are each battling mid life and are dealing with self doubts, hurt feelings and grief from their pasts…… They also find themselves is a love hate friendship. Wonderful bickering and banter that made me laugh, sigh and feel so much.
It is so easy to initially be critical of Billie and his womanizing, but as the story unfolds he steps up as a father and caring friend. Both Roxie and Billie struggle with being able to accept the possibility of being loveable and moving forward in a relationship.
Yes, life over 40 has its low moments, but Silver Player gives the reader a positive view of life and love over 40. Thank you LB, I loved it!!
First off I love reading this author and I have recently found her series with the older characters and have fallen in love with them! I love seeing the characters already settled, have careers and possibly children. This one is no different. Billy comes from the family who has the wealth and respect of the town. He has had his fair share of ups and downs in his life and feels like he’s the joke of the family. The one who disappoints and never does anything right in his father’s eyes. He is out to prove to himself he can be successful. When fate throws him a curveball, he doesn’t know how to handle it. He has to deal with the woman across the road who makes life hard for him. She has been known to complain when things are to loud or drunks come on her sidewalk. Anyway these two have a hatred towards each other. Billy has a reputation and this is the part I found super annoying especially with Roxanne. She kept throwing it in his and never really letting him explain himself on it. I think she did it to keep him at arm’s length and didn’t want to admit she really liked him. Billy was a great character. I absolutely Loved him! Yes almost everytime he opened his mouth, he’d get in more trouble from Roxanne.. It made for some hard truths from his bartender for him to realize what he did wrong. Roxanne definitely kept him on his toes and made him work to change her mind about him. She also had to make some hard truths when it came to Sadie and him having a relationship without her in it. I must say that I loved that a)they were older and b) that Roxanne was a chunky girl with curves and despite her insecurities she had, she still was open with him about certain things. These two definitely have the fire and use it to make their relationship a whole lot more fun. The banter between them makes you even questioning if they like each other or not haha. Despite all that, this book was a fun book and I can’t wait to read Charlie’s story next!!!
I literally devoured this amazing 6 star story in no time at all. Too bad I had to work because this page turner was difficult to put down.
Billy is seen as a player with no commitments. That is until he gets the shock of his life. Roxanne, his annoying neighbor comes into his life even if he wants to or not. Trust me she doesn’t want to be there either. Now they are and they banter all the time.
This was not what I was expecting from this story. It was 100 times better. I’ve greatly enjoyed all of this authors previous stories but Silver Player was by far my Favourite. The storyline was beautifully executed to perfection. The bantering between these 2 was quite funny and entertaining. They had no filters around each other.
They had difficult decisions to make but not for themselves. This story was captivating and highly addicting. Characters that are memorably created to not be forgotten. Bottomline is this a 2020 must read.
It can safely be read as a standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
