L.B. Dunbar pitches her tent and stakes her claim as the queen of second chance, sexy silver fox romances, and this story is no different. – Goodreads.Olivet Pierson needs his land. Name your price, Mr. Harrington. She has her reasons, and this muscular mountain of masculinity isn’t going to get in her way. However, her heart has a different plan after she accepts his crazy conditions: three … conditions: three nights up on the ridge.
George Harrington is a quiet, giant of a man.
No sale, Cricket.
He’s a war hero, a widower, and COO for the family brewing company, but his life lacks spontaneity. Then, she arrives, chirping away at him, roaming his body with those sky-blue eyes, and negotiating for something he won’t put a price on. Too bad his heart is immediately sold.

What a great start to the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series! If you’ve read Second Chance, you will recognize these characters. Don’t worry if you haven’t–it stands alone just fine.
George “Giant” Harrington. Whoa. He is the big, burly, grumpy hero of this book and I loved him. He’s the oldest sibling of the Harrington family–a widower with adult children and grandchildren–and he has pretty much settled into a quiet, albeit a bit lonely, life in the woods thinking that his chance at love and family passed with his wife.
That is, until Olivet “Letty” Pierson (who could not be more his opposite) comes storming into his life demanding he sell his land to her. Letty is trying to make a name for herself at her uncle’s development company and will do anything to get this sale…even spend three nights camping with Giant on his land to prove she is worthy of it.
From the moment they meet, Giant and Letty (who he nicknames Cricket ) feel a spark of something neither of them understand or want to acknowledge and as they spend more time together, that spark grows into more. Of course, with age comes a lot of baggage, and these two have to find a way to share and deal with secrets that could keep them apart. This is definitely one of my favorites from Dunbar and it will be hard to top my love of Giant. I think he is the swooniest (and hottest) hero that she has written to date.
I have so much love for LB Dunbar’s “mature” characters. She is great at reminding us that romance is not only for the twenty-somethings–it can happen at any age. Her characters just feel real to me, as do their stories. I’m so excited to see where she goes with the rest of the Harrington silver foxes.
Silver Brewer by L.B. Dunbar
Silver Brewer had so much potential, and I wanted to love it. Unfortunately, a large section of the story seemed forced. With the characters being older, I expected maturity. The female protagonist is immature, and I didn’t enjoy her style as much as I wished I could. The male protagonist is swoon-worthy, and he loved the female protagonist so much. I loved Giant, so I kept reading. Plus the sex is steamy and highly detailed.
The sexy silver men are still a hit and L. B. Dunbar knows how to write their stories. This was a highly enjoyable read, even with a grumpy hero!
Giant and Letty are you’re typical mature couple. Giant is a bit of a grumpy, take no guff hero who just wants to run his brewery and live on his pristine and quiet piece of land. Letty is a slighted yet persistent heroine who wants Giants land and the man that’s on it!
These two were really playing each other up throughout the story. I really liked their chemistry and interaction with one another. Another winner in the mature, yet not old, romance genre that’s easy to identify with.
It is unbelievable how LB Dunbar can continually write new and fantastically written stories geared towards us “more mature” readers, and this book is proof.
It is funny how a chatterbox like Letty can take down a man such as Giant. From their first encounter, sparks are flying left and right. It makes me want to move and see if I can find a Harrington for myself.
Don’t miss out on reading this!
Oh these Silver Foxes just keep getting better and better!!
This story focuses on George “Giant” Harrington, brother of Madi from the Second Chance (original Silver Foxes series). A widower who runs the family brewing company, he’s nearly run over one day by a real estate developer named Olivet “Letty” Pierson who needs to buy his land.
These two don’t initially get along but that changes quickly when he challenges her to get to know his mountain (ahem) over the course of three days. Camping, axe throwing, and sexy times occur!
Reasons for her hard push for his land are revealed later, and Giant’s price for his “cricket” is one that is non-negotiable.
This was one of those reads that grabs you from the start, and makes you want to shake some sense into the characters! He is a total alpha who refuses to clearly state what he wants, and she’s an insecure heroine who has been duped in relationships before and refuses to be an afterthought again. When they finally, FINALLY, get themselves on the same page – it’s perfect.
And of course, what makes you swoon more than a hero who takes care of his heroine, both past and present, by washing. their. hair.
Letty sure got more than she bargained for when she met Giant. He was more than she thought he was and quickly learned he was more to heart. Giant was more of a gentle Giant and oh so sweet. I absolutely fell in love with him.
Will these two people that are opposite on paper and city/country be able to mesh? Will they be able to mesh their dreams or are they too far apart in places in their lives and where they live?
My heart ached for these two, fingernail biting ensued to see what was going to happen next if they were going to be able to make it work. I absolutely adore this authors 40 and over books. Can’t wait for the next one!
I love George Harrington II aka Giant. I’ve been waiting for The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series too start, I fell in love with them in Mati and Denton’s book Second Chance. Giant is the quiet one, after the military, he came home to run the family brewery after his wife died he became even more withdrawn enjoying spending time on his mountain. City girl Letty comes looking for Giant to buy his mountain property on behalf of her uncle’s real estate firm. Sparks fly and Letty and Giants love story begins, neither have felt passion like this before. This book is so well-written with amazing characters. This book is so special because it’s about a forty-year-old woman and fifty-year-old man that find it’s never too late to find the right person to fall in love with. Outstanding Book !!
This author right here just makes the most beautiful story! Its heart wrenching, alluring, happy, sad, beautiful, all the emotions wrapping up in one!
Will Giant and Letty get a happily ever after or will they destroy what they have because of communication issues?
Giant is a tall, dark, handsome and brooding man, living his life quietly and with purpose. Nothing bothers him until Letty comes crashing into his life.
She’s loud, chatty and determined to prove herself. This includes buying land that Giant owns; persuading him to sell to her will justify the career in real estate that’s she’s ended up in.
A few days spent on this land with Giant opens her eyes to what she really wants in life. However, this now includes him. How can she make those two worlds gel without compromising her ideals?
This book shows Giant and Letty’s romance to be one of epic proportions. I was surprised at how deeply I would feel for these characters. I was swept up in their romance and swooned and sighed along with every twist and turn.
Giant is a man who, even in middle age and already with a family of his own, could woo a lady in a right and proper way. He’s a stand up guy and exactly what Letty never knew she needed.
Even when Letty has to put herself first for the sake of her own self respect, he was right there, backing her choices at the expense of his own heart. A true romantic hero. LB Dunbar gives hope that love can be found no matter at what time of life. Her Silver Fox romances continue to be a joy to read; long may they continue.
This is an amazing book that I just adored so much. I love reading the over 40 crowd because they have issues and things that are real and some of them have even gone through divorces and loss of a spouse. So when I had a chance to read this one I jumped at it because i knew I was going to get a gem and I did.
Olivet and George are amazing as people but when they come together they make an amazing couple. Olivet is a riot because she is so cityfied yes I made a new word but she is all city and when she comes to the rugged mountains she does not know what to do with herself. George is this rugged gorgeous man who has a heart of gold but he is suffering through his loss and living his life when he meets Olivet his world is rocked.
This is a must read and I can’t wait to read about the brothers.
Silver Brewer – The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge – L.B. Dunbar
L.B. Dunbar just keeps on delivering wonderfully grounded and real stories and Silver Brewer introduces us to the Harrington Family.
We’ve met Giant briefly before in the over 40’s series but he gets to really shine in his own right in this beautifully crafted story.
Letty and Giant have the kind of chemistry that just hooks you to a book and boy, do they ever explore that chemistry with passion and wild abandon. They also explore some seriously emotion charged issues and deal with them in such a way, you feel like you’ve been part of their emotional journey together.
Without dropping spoilers, I’m totally hooked on this genre and I a dedicated LB Dunbar fan.
Now, just to hold out for Silver Player…. next in the series.
After reading a LB book I always say it’s such a nice breath of fresh air to read mature adults find love. She is the queen of over forty romance and this book was no exception.
I loved everything about Giant and Letty that once I started I couldn’t put it down. LB wrote an exquisite story of finding love again and embracing it. She wrote such a beautiful love story with amazing characters and scorching hot sexiness. I mean I do believe this was LB’s hottest book to date. I thought my kindle was going to melt. The story was captivating and had me intrigued from that first page.
I can’t get enough of the silver foxes and am looking forward to more of these Harrington men!
This is a spin off from Second Chance but can absolutely be read as a stand alone. In this one we get George Harrington and Olivet Pierson. Giant and Letty meet when she comes to cabin and tries to get him to sell her his land for uncles company. After she keeps chirping at him-he gives her the deal of he will think about selling if she spends 3 days camping on the mountain with him. And that challenge changes both of their lives.
I definitely enjoyed this one! Giant is this quiet, set in his ways, gently giant. Letty is one of those women who has had a tough time but is trying to figure out where her life is supposed to take her now. And they compliment each other in ways that you don’t expect. There were a few things I didn’t like about Letty but it worked out in the end and I think it was just my own issues showing with that. On a whole, I really liked it and I liked the side characters as well! Now I need his brother’s story after that ending!!!
Love LB Dunbar’s Silver Foxes!! The way she makes us fall in love with her characters and the story by pulling you in and making you feel like you are there watching it play out is amazing!! Can’t wait for more of the swoon worthy Harrington brothers!!
Loved this……George Harrington or as he is known by the town Giant is a widower who enjoys his solitude in the mountains. Olivet or Letty as she is called by friends is a realator by necessity she really wants to be a writer. She sets out on a adventure to make a bid on a cabin and land for a possible resort. The moment they meet it is friction, underlying sizzle and fantastic sarcastic banter. Giant has never met such a strong willed woman and the nerve of her wanting to proposition him on his property…..it isn’t for sale ! Although he devises a plan to send her running or so he thinks but she doesn’t back down. She needs to agree to camp on the land fo three days and then he will consider her offer or will he? I fell in love with this couple and the wonderful chemistry, the strong will of both of them and the underlying want and need they develop for one another !!

A man who is a loner and a women who is feisty. As they clash over the sale of his land it leads to oh so much more.
Oh what is there to love about this book, well everything. Giant will land a place in your heart. He is quiet and his life lacks spontaneity but when Olivet shows up his heart starts to beat a little bit faster. Can he really have a second chance at love. Olivet is so feisty, I loved her. His nickname for her is oh so fitting. She has had a a bad romance in the past but maybe, just maybe Giant can light her fire.
Ms. Dunbar had created a sexy silver fox second romance that will have you shedding a few tears and laughing out loud.
LB Dunbar has a knack of writing romance that is emotional and realistic. Her characters weave a place in you heart and will stay there. She writes a story that after you turn the last page you will put that book on your to be read again pile.
This is the story of Giant & Letty. Giant is a widower with kids and grandkids. Letty is a realtor, but want to be a writer. They meet when Letty wants to buy his land in Georgia so a resort could be built on it. Giant is very standoffish by nature. They make a deal and go on an adventure together. They are really attracted to each other. They go through ups and downs, with each keeping some secrets they have to themselves. This is a great story. I just love L.B. Dunbar’s over 40 stories. I love to read about middle aged people falling in love. She is a fantastic writer and captures this well. I can’t wait to read her next over 40 book.
Wow, yet another hot silver fox to swoon over! 5 silver stars for this one!
Meet Olivet, trying to prove to her uncle that she was a great realtor, and she would get this property no matter what she had to do! As she gets there to the property, in Blue Ridge Georgia, she’s met with a hot sight, lumberjack silver fox George Harrington, otherwise known as Giant. He’s equally as taken with her, and he wants to mess so he does!
These two are an amazing couple, the road isn’t easy for them, they face obstacles, misunderstandings, but love none the less!
LB does such an amazing job with these silver foxes, I fall in love with each and every one of them! Keep us in the silver please LB!!! Grab this one asap!!
4 Stars
LB Dunbar has yet another hit on her hands with Silver Brewer. George is just another one of her sexy silver fox heroes and definitely one that you need to read. He’s ex-military, a widower, and helps run his family’s brewery. Letty, trying to obtain the land her uncle desperately wants, finds herself out in the middle of nowhere. What she didn’t expect was the giant of a man that stirs things deep down inside her. These two have such amazing chemistry, they will burn up the pages of your kindle. Being a member of the over forty club, LB Dunbar definitely writes love stories that I can relate to.

Overall Rating: ++
I love L.B. Dunbar. She has found a niche in contemporary romance with her over 40 books. It’s easy to fall in love with the handsome young billionaire with the great body. But the silver fox or the man with the dad bod (not that her over 40 guys have dad bods)? There are “daddy” books with them, but a mature man and woman falling in love, not too many.
I found her with Second Chance when I was asked if I wanted to review an ARC for an honest review. At the time, I was intrigued with the over 40 trope, as that’s my age group and I know how it looks. That book grabbed me and made me a fan of Dunbar’s. Then Wine & Dine did the same thing. So when faced with the opportunity to read Dunbar’s newest book, Silver Brewer, you bet that I was “all in” on this one.
And it didn’t disappoint.
Silver Brewer follows George “Giant” Harrington and Olivet “Letty” Pierson. Letty is interested in buying the land for her uncle’s development company where Giant’s Pap’s cabin (now his) resides. Giant, the quiet, sullen man, is not interested in selling any property to Letty, but he makes her a deal that, if she camps on his land with him for three days, he will consider talking with her about it. Undeterred, Letty agrees, and they find themselves in the wilderness of his land. What Letty doesn’t realize is Giant has no interest in selling his land. It’s his refuge from life. After a stint in the military and the death of his wife, Giant recognizes his need to get away and his Pap’s cabin affords him that ability, so he has no interest in divesting himself of it.
During their camping trip, it becomes clear that Giant and Letty are attracted to each other. Quickly, these two fall into their attraction, and Letty feels a strong connection to Giant and his land. At the end of their camping trip, Letty realizes Giant has no intention of selling his land, and she feels like he took advantage of her. Even though these two have grown feelings for each other, she breaks their bond and leaves.
After some time, these two realize their need for each other and reconcile, exploring their feelings. Unfortunately, Giant realizes that Letty is interested in adopting a child and starting a new phase of her life, while he has already done that as he has two daughters with his deceased wife and two granddaughters. Struggling to determine if Letty’s need for her own family is something he wants for himself, he must decide if Letty and her adopted son will be his future or his past.
After reading Dunbar’s Second Chance and Wine & Dine, Silver Brewer, honestly, was refreshing. With those two books, I struggled with the heroes. Don’t get me wrong. Those books made me fall in love with Dunbar’s writing and storytelling. Nothing is more interesting to read than reformed playboys. But, for most of those stories, I didn’t really connect with the heroes. I loved her heroines Mati and Dolores, but the men seemed a little self-absorbed. With Silver Brewer, one of the best parts of this book is Giant. This is a man with some level of integrity. Yes, he has engaged in brief dalliances since the death of his wife, but you realize quickly that he isn’t a playboy. He is sullen, solitary, and solid. With the exception of his deceit to get Letty camping and his confusion over his future, he is the type of hero that you fall in love with quickly. He’s capable and loving and adores Letty from early in the story. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he remedies them quickly. In fact, Letty made me crazy more than Giant did. His want to care for her makes you fall deeply in love with his type of hero.
While frustrating at times as she pushes Giant away, Letty is still an incredibly strong heroine. Her family is awful: a selfish sister, an indifferent mother, a manipulative ex, and an emotionally abusive uncle. They’ve made her life difficult, yet Letty stands strong against them at every turn, and she makes decisions for herself regardless of her family’s intent to dissuade her. Before Giant, she is doing life alone with the exception of her assistant Marcus. It’s her tenacity and ferociousness for living HER life that connects you with her.
Together, Letty and Giant are sweet, endearing, and their chemistry is palpable. They have long splits in the books, and you can’t help but keep reading to get to the parts where they have reunited again. Giant loving and caring for Letty and Letty helping Giant heal and move beyond his past creates this tour de force couple. Yes, I loved the couples in the other two books I’ve mentioned above, but there is a sweetness and sensitivity with Giant and Letty that made this book better for me. It currently sits as my favorite Dunbar book to date.
Honestly, it doesn’t matter if you’re in the over 40 crowd like me or a “young’un” like many of the romance readers. If you’re a fan of love, Silver Brewer will grab your heart and wrap its pages around it. Giant and Letty’s story is a deep reminder that love will prevail over dead spouses, a complicated past, distance, and life. As long as love is there, anything is possible.
