Just when I thought these #silverfox books couldn’t get any better, you throw Giant at us. What a great read! I think Giant has become new favorite #silverfox. Of course I say that after every book. LB Dunbar has once again written a passionate story with these two characters. Persistence pays off in this book.
Olivet Pierson went to Blue Ridge looking for one thing, to purchase a piece of land for a new resort. What she found instead was Giant Harrington swinging an axe like nobody else. She’s trying to close the deal and makes a bet with Giant. Camp for three nights and they would talk. But this man plays dirty. He has no intention of selling but wants to spend three nights with a gorgeous woman. He has opened up his heart since the death of his wife. Now, to convince her to give them a chance.
LB Dunbar, never ever run out of story ideas for #silverfoxes. I would be lost without these men and the women who love them. Thank you once again for making passionate characters come to life. Keep them coming!
Silver Brewer is the first book in The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. If you love the other books by this author than you will want to get your hands on this one!
I absolutely LOVE these characters! From start to finish I was hooked and I could not put this book down!
This book follows Giant Harrington. We get to meet him for a moment and get to know his sister in Second Chance. This book gives us his story and it is one heck of a story for sure!
The chemistry between Giant and Letty is off the charts. Sent into the woods of a small town to try and make the sale of a lifetime Letty is brought face to face with Giant. He is a man of few words and she is a woman who has a lot to say. When Giant makes her a deal she can’t refuse the 2 find themselves enjoying the others company more than they ever expected. The problem is that Giant isn’t good at expressing how he is feeling, and misunderstandings take place.
This is a must read book for sure! The characters, the story line, the chemistry and the writing are all amazing and you will not be disappointed.

I love romance novels that make me think about and contemplate what I would do in certain situations, and that’s the beauty of romances featuring 40+ characters; they really can move in the most unexpected directions.
L.B. Dunbar’s SILVER BREWER has many twists for the reader. I really did not know which direction this story was going to take. This is definitely a compliment because one thing this book is not is formulaic. I often stopped and thought about what I would do, and I was driving myself crazy. These characters should be grateful their happy-ever-after played out in a few hundred pages.
Not only do Olivet “Letty” Pierson meets George “Giant” Harrington have very different pasts, their futures look poles apart, that is, until they cross paths and recognise something desirable in the other. There is definitely a physical attraction – and Dunbar certainly delivers on the sexy times – but it’s a lot more than that. Letty and Giant recognised something in each other that was strong enough for them to want to explore. And without giving anything away, the amount of relevant, real-life issues and concerns these two had to wade through is not for the faint-hearted.
I thought Dunbar did a great job in allowing us to understand these characters and what drove them. I was certainly cheering for them to come together even when I could also argue for them to go their separate ways.
There’s certainly more to look forward to in The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. We learn a bit more about Giant’s other brothers and my interest is definitely piqued. Can’t wait for the next one!
I absolutely love L.B. Dunbar’s over 40’s series of books. This new series – The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge – is going to be so amazing I can tell just from the first book. I love that this series is exploring characters who are more mature and happening to find love in their daily lives.
Silver Brewer introduces us to Olivet (Letty) Pierson and George (Giant) Harrington. Letty wants to buy Giant’s property in the mountains of Georgia. He tells he will only only consider it if she goes camping in the mountains with him for 3 days. You can’t even imagine all of the greatest in those 3 days of camping!!
The story is slow and steady and I love that because it’s more realistic for me when you are older and seeing that you might be finding a relationship and maybe love. This slow and steady read leads to a wonderful ending. I love that they are both able to find a second chance at love.
Giant is literally going to be your new dream man – or at least he is for me!!!
Silver Brewer will totally warm your heart, make you HOT and leave you smiling! Keep up the great work L.B. Dunbar. I love the stories for those of us over 40. I may have given up on love myself but I love reading books for those who do still find it later in life.
I cannot wait for the next book in this amazing series!!!!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review and this is totally honest. I will be buying this book as soon as it’s out to have it on all of my devices.
Silver Brewer is the first book I’ve read in this series and I’m definitely going back to read the earlier books I’ve missed.
I loved everything about Giant and Letty’s story. It was hilariously funny at some moments and tear jerking emotional at others but they both stay true to the other. The characters were believable as was their story, they fall in love fast and hard.
One thing I really enjoyed was the maturity of the character, he is 49 and her 40. It was great to read a story with characters in an age bracket closer to mine than most romances.
I regret to say this is my first L.B. Dunbar read. I am however already searching to see what I can read next. I love the more mature characters that are real and relatable. It makes it so much easier to connect with the story.
George “Giant” Harrington is surviving the day to day but loving is not what I would call it. Home from the military earlier than he expected, now running the family brewery. His quiet and closed off only got worse dealing with the distance between him and his wife upon his return, only to loose her too early. He enjoys the solitude of the mountains as much as he can.
Olivet “Letty” Peirson is working hard at a career she never really expected for herself. But she has goals and plans and she needs to succeed. She feels less and less like an active member of her family. Being a romantic and wanting more than life has given her to date. Her perky chatty self seems to get by with a fake smile.
When she finds herself challenged by the lumbersexual alpha man, she is not backing down. This making them both step out of their comfort zones. The more time they are together the more the dynamics change and the challenge becomes and adventure. When you have lost important things in life you learn that time doesn’t always have a place in the process. Communication is a huge hurdle for the characters and causes them both a great deal of pain.
But the chemistry between this silver fox and the chatty cricket is off the charts. Can they move forward and find a new more substantial future? Will they find their way to happiness?
I have marked my TBR with the next books in the series. Winder which brother will get their story next?

Funny, sweet and steamy
Book 1 of the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series, this is a spinoff of the author’s romance for the over 40 series, and while this works perfectly as a standalone, there is crossover between the two series. Second Chance, which is Giant’s sister Mati’s story, is particularly relevant, but the entire series is worth the read, imho.
I admit this one started a little slow for me, mostly because Lettie didn’t appear to be the kind of character I usually expect from this author. Things heat up fast though, and the chemistry between Giant and Lettie was EXACTLY what I’ve come to expect—hot, steamy and totally fitting for the characters and the story. At about halfway in, Lettie’s motivations are more fully explained, and I remember thinking, “Oh, that makes so much more sense now!”, lol. Giant’s motivations are nicely setup and carried out as well, and I love the way the two of them mesh, both in and out of the bedroom.
There were a lot of little twists to a plot that didn’t go where I expected (though I should have known better than to expect this author to take the easy road), and while Lettie and Giant start off as adversaries and opposites, as I said, that doesn’t last long. They both have their share of strengths and vulnerabilities, and there was a very subtle parallel between Lettie’s younger brother and Giant’s brother James I especially liked, though we’re far from knowing the whole story regarding James. Giant’s family made for a great cast of supporting characters, and there were others around as well; Lettie’s friend and assistant, Marcus, was also a favorite.
Funny, sweet and steamy, with great characters, this author just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait to read the stories for the rest of the Harrington brothers. 5+ stars

This story drew me right in from the beginning. The attraction and heat between Letty and Giant was instant and hot, hot, hot. There were moments of tears for the pain and hurt these two had been through and inflicted on each other as they tried to figure out their relationship. I loved the older aspect of these characters and enjoyed all those around them. I highly recommend this story and look forward to reading more in this series.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! LB Dunbar is an amazing author! Silver Brewer was absolutely amazing! I was not able to put Giant and Letty’s story down! This book has everything, complete with a phenomenal conclusion!! FIVE STARS!!
I am a HUGE fan of this author and love her “mature” series.
SILVER BREWER is the first book in a new spin off series called “The Sliver Foxes of Blue Ridge” starring The Harrington Brothers. This is “Giant’s story”.
Giant and Letty’s story is one of heat, angst, romance, despair, and a hike up a mountain. It is a wonderful read that I digested in a few sittings.
It follows a linear timeline and we get to see the other siblings woven into the story. I am looking forward to reading this entire series as it unfolds.
5 silver stars
No one writes books over 40 like LB Dunbar.
In Silver brewer we meet Garrett Harrington (aka Giant) his 49 years old a loner and likes it that way.
That is until he meets Letty (aka Cricket) she wants to buy his property in the mountains his sanctuary he does not want to sell but something about her makes him think again.
So he has a proposition for her if she can make it three days camping he will sell his land to her.
Letty is lost just coming out of a failed relationship but she is also a strong women and accepts the challenge, little does she know that when she returns from the mountains she will be a changed women after getting to know the real giant.
It’s not about the property anymore its about Giant he opens up to her shows her a side to him no one else ever gets to see the only downside neither of them are good at sharing their feelings.
That being said they both decide they are willing to try to make things work between them long distance or not.
There are a few bumps in the road with the help of both their family and friends they get the HEA they both deserve and a whole lot more.
If you love books over 40 this in one book you really need to read and I really can’t wait for more.
What is not to love in this silver fox, over 40 romance?!? Dunbar excels at writing steamy, emotional and heartwarming romance. But this is so much more than just a great romance, this is a story of breaking down old barriers, healing old wounds, taking chances and finding a happy ever after. Bravo LB Dunbar!
What a great fun read with the older sexy Giant who ends up being swayed by the city girl Letty. I love the premise of the story with the grumpy small town guy who enjoys his peace and quiet. Letty’s personality was so endearing and I loved her nonsensical chatter. The progression between these characters is slow but you can feel it and I found myself smiling while reading this book and all the antics.
Olivet “Letti” Pierson is needing the land that George”Giant” Harrison owns. She goes to his cabin to speak with him about her plans and meets the sexy silver fox. Giant is a widower with children and grandchildren but as a military veteran is a loner. Letti is single, no children and never thought she’d be in the situation she’s in now. After agreeing to a three day stay with Giant, Letti is in love but can Giant open his heart to a relationship? A great over 40’s read.
Giant Harrington has always done the right thing. Married his high school sweetheart, raised his children and helped in the family business. Then he lost his wife. His children are adults and all he wanted to be alone in his mountain cabin. He was content with his life until Olivet “Letty” Pierson drove up to his cabin with an offer to by his land. Letty life was in shambles. She hated working for her uncle’s real-estate agency and her sister is going to marry her ex fiancé soon. Letty and Giant have never explored their deepest sexual desires until circumstances brought them together. Letty wants what Giant has experienced; domestic living/children. There will be some situations, heart ache and a whole lot of sexiness along the way!!! I throughly enjoyed this book and you will as well!
I love romance of all types, but being over forty, this one was so close to home, and I loved it! This is my first time reading a book by this author and definitely will not be my last! I loved both main characters, Olivet and George. George wormed his way into my heart, and nothing could expel him. I loved everything about this book. The humor, the sadness, just everything! I can’t wait to grab more by this author! 5+ stars!
Swooooooon. Oh. My. Wow. Silver Brewer from L.B. Dunbar is just so hot, sexy & emotional all in one! There’s an extra layer of emotional intensity in silver fox romances, and it takes the swoon to new levels. Letty & Giant steam up the pages as they stumble & fall on their way to HEA. You won’t want to miss this one!
This story is awesome! It’s about Giant and Cricket (Letty). They meet through her job, she visits his property wanting to buy, offering him money. He makes her a counteroffer and she accepts. She ends up liking the place and the man, the Lumbersexual. She lives far from him, but his life is there, she can’t and doesn’t want to contemplate to relocate. Many other things happen and they end up with their very own HEA.
It was a beautiful, heart warming story of older adults, in a different place in life who have a chance at love. It’s probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite story of the ‘romances for over 40’.
Favorite Quotes:
“Micro-penis? Poor guy.” “Wrong again. Poor me.”
I’m content to have him kiss me like he is, like I’m the air he needs to breathe and the color in his wind.
Hope is a dangerous emotion.
I don’t think there needs to be a time limit on love or grief. Grief ends when you’re done. And love begins when you’re ready.
My Review:
She was his Cricket and forever chirping.
He was her Giant ax throwing, he-man, sex god, and part-time shampoo boy.
I always enjoy Ms. Dunbar’s clever and uniquely appealing character development as well as her use of witty banter and toe-curling sensual romance. This couple was a study of opposites and contradictions; which can be a good thing, although I found myself growing increasingly annoyed with the repetitive inner musings of angsty doubt and obtuse miscommunications.
I liked this book, but I didn’t love it, there was far too much contrived conflict just for drama’s sake for my taste, but that’s just me, angst and flighty flip-flopping characters are never going to reside on my list of favorite things. But, in the plus column – he washed her hair, there were freezer fairies, and did I mention the breath-stealing and volcanically hot and erotic sex scenes? I thought I might have 😉
I’m loving these sexy silver foxes!! The woman have some things to overcome and build my love but it’s like INSTA-LOVE with these men!! I love that I was given the chance to read another one from this talented author!!
Letty isn’t your typical woman and boy does she grate on your nerves. I had moments when I loved her but more moments where I wanted to punch her in the face. This book has different parts to it that take you on this journey of their lives in a short amount of time. The things that she said and did were crazy and hot and intense at times but she barely won me over.
Giant on the other hand had me from first sight! Swing that axe and all!! He is an older man and the things that he was still open to in his life had me mesmerized. He had his issues and while I got annoyed with Letty, I got turned on by Giant.
So many conflicting feelings throughout this book. I had ups and downs but mostly I had hope. I cried for Letty at times and I got angry for Giant at times. I couldn’t put it down and trust me “adulting” tried to put it down for me. Congrats on this awesome release!!! I can’t wait to see what silver fox we read about next!!!!
