L.B. Dunbar pitches her tent and stakes her claim as the queen of second chance, sexy silver fox romances, and this story is no different. – Goodreads.Olivet Pierson needs his land. This author is relatively new to me and I have no idea why I didn’t discover her earlier because she certainly writes a wonderful story with her older silver fox heroes. The silver foxes are all over 40 and that makes them so much more appealing and real as far as I’m concerned and I was excited to read the latest which is Silver Brewer and let me say this book was everything I expected and so more.
This is a romance that’s starts off on very shaky ground and it takes time for Olivet Pierson know to her friends as Letty and George Harrington know to his friends as Giant to open up and become friends before they finally become lovers…..
A book that has all the feels you want in a great read, it’s a second chance at love for this adorable couple even though some may thing love isn’t for the over 40’s this book will make you feel very different about that statement, Love is possible for all ages. I’m going to leave you with please one click this great read because I believe this is a MUST READ for all lovers of romance.
Lumbersexual, Chirpy, Adventurous, 2nd Chances
Move over Tommy, George “Giant” Harrington is in the book. I love when I read and I feel like I’m part of it… that is what L.B. Dunbar does.
If you like 2nd chances (in more than just love) that include a sexy man and a strong beautiful woman, this is a must read. Enjoy the journey that Letty “Cricket” takes as she finds her true loves. As with life nothing is without challenges but that just make us adventurous. One would think that Giant has had it all… but let Cricket in and life becomes MORE.
SILVER BREWER is the first book in the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series, a spin-off of the Silver Foxes #4, SECOND CHANCE. Mati’s brothers need their chances, too.
When I reviewed SECOND CHANCE, I wrote, “There are characters that I have fallen in love with and I hope L.B. Dunbar stays with this town and just keeps on telling their stories.” How lucky we are that she has.
I love the sexy silver romances that L.B. Dunbar brings to life. She reminds everyone that life does not end at 25 (as most advertisers seem to insinuate). Just because we have more miles and memories, does not mean we don’t still have plenty of rev and roar!
Olivet, Letty, aka Cricket is forty. George “Giant” Harrington is forty-nine (and for the record, I’m fifty-five). These two do not lack in spirit, adventure, or spontaneity!
I love the charm, the romance, the difficulties, the laughter, and fears that all felt real and drove a roller-coaster that I never wanted to end until the next book was ready.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: SILVER BREWER

L.B. Dunbar has stuck gold again with Silver Brewer. As a kid I spent my summers in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the picture she painted took me right back to gravel roads, fireflies, drinking lemonade with a peppermint stick, starry nights and fishing in the river.
But I digress, back to Letty and Giant. This was a twist on the typical city girl meets country boy. Yes, Letty was polished and put together and Giant was broody and rough around the edges but they both had loved and lost in a way that changed them. And while there was no denying the instant attraction that went both ways, these two got off to a rocky start.
A challenge. A trek. Unexpected super sexy times. Understanding. A storm. Danger. Miscommunication. A blow out. And that’s all in a few days! Whew. To say Letty and Giant’s romance was a whirlwind is an understatement. The feelings they developed on the mountain were real and strong and not going away because of a disagreement and some distance. Letty took that first step forward, after all, it was her babbling that rocked Giant’s world right off its axis.
I liked that they both worked to make something of their relationship. They challenged and pushed each other but also accepted the others limits. Communication wasn’t their strong suit and it caused more problems than it should have.
With charm and tenderness, L.B. Dunbar examines love after loss. How love doesn’t have to be hidden or compared, just its own. Hard is hard, these two know that better than most. But with the right person willing to fight beside you, with you, for you- like Giant for Letty and vice versa, the odds aren’t so bad. Did it take them a bit to get out of their own way, yep. But that ending…total swoonville! I am so ready to head back to Georgia and meet the rest of these Harrington’s!
If you are a fan of the silver foxes & romance over forty; your are going to love the Silver foxes of Blue Ridge. We first were introduced to the Harrington boys in second chance, now it’s time for Giants story to be told. Giant runs his family’s brewing company & when he is not at the factory he can be found at the cabin and property that was left to him by his pap. This is usually a sanctuary from town until out of nowhere a spitfire name Letty almost runs him over but also wants to buy his land. Giant makes a deal with her that she had to come camping for three days to show her why this land is so special and she agrees because she thinks he will sell her the land. This story is very hot & you will not be looking at a man in red flannel the same. They are both guarded because of things of the past and they can their own worst enemies especially Letty and her best friend Marcus tells her so. After pushing Giant away can she make it right. You will just have to put Silver Brewer on your TBR list and go on this journey between the blue ridge & Chicago. I have to say I was yelling a lot at Letty I found her to be a very frustrating character, I’m not saying Giant wasn’t misguided at times but Letty made me crazy at times. I can’t wait for Billy Harrington story coming in January. Thank you again L.B. Dunbar for another entertaining over 40 Romance
Sigh, what a great book to read! Giant and Cricket are so different but they just mesh. Letty just wanted was to complete the transaction so that she could move to the next stage in her life. Giant, had the life and wasn’t looking for a repeat. When the two come together, it was as if a missing piece had been found but they had some obstacles along the way. This was a story of finding the courage to take that spontaneous leap to find your happiness. I am enjoying learning more about the Harrington family.
The Silver Fox series are always a must read for me as soon as they hit the market. The author truly captures my heart with each book about life and love during mid-life years and each book just keeps getting better and better (at least for me). I love the authors witty banter and realistic storylines and Silver Brewer has both of those things in spades. I fell in love with both George “Giant” Harrington and Olivet “Letty” Pierson and their story made me laugh, warmed my heart and had me hoping for a HEA.
Giant is a loner, who works hard, loves his family but also loves the peace and quiet his mountain home gives him. The home and land was left to him by his grandpa and it’s his own little slice of heaven. Letty, a real chatty cathy, is a realtor that is out to buy his property and doesn’t want to take No for an answer. She needs this sale to prove herself. But Giant has no desire to sell. What is does have is a desire to spend time with Letty, the first woman to spark anything in his lonely world since the death of his wife. So he proposed that the city girl to send 3 nights camping on his land with him and he’ll consider selling, truly thinking the city gal won’t show up. But Giant is shocked that she not only shows up but she was determined to stick it out.
From here the storyline takes off. The events are funny, exciting, romantic (on occasion a little wild) and even heartbreaking at times. If you haven’t read Ms. Dunbar’s Silver Fox books they really are a must. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars for a wonderful read that I highly recommend. You won’t regret grabbing up Silver Brewer.
What happens when you meet the one that wakes up your heart but your paths are headed in opposite directions? Giant is an older widower, that has lived his life, is content to to remain a recluse and not willing to sell his land. Letty is trying to prove her worth by making the “big deal” and purchasing Giant’s land. Not willing to sell but finding himself attracted to Letty, Giant tricks Letty into camping on his land for 3 days in order to allow her to “convince” him to sell. After 3 days Letty finds herself wanting more than to “close” the deal. As these two navigate the long distance relationship, they find that opening up their hearts might not be enough for a HEA. Secrets and differences on life goals are testing their new found love. Swoony characters, realistic life situations, crazy family members and steamy scenes make this a wonderful start to a new series. Loved reading Giant’s story.
L.B. Dunbar has found her niche. The over 40’s is definitely a trope she does extremely well. Each book she writes gets better and better. I loved this one so much. Giant is every woman’s dream of a hunky, brooding woodsman and beer crafter. He likes his solitude and when he’s almost run over by a fiery woman while at his cabin, he’s ready to read the riot act. Then she tries to buy the land and he demands she learn all about it first. He’s not gonna sell anything though. They get hot and steamy by the campfire for three, then Letty allows her past hangups to make a rash decision. She is set right by her BFF and then it’s up to her to show Grant how wrong she was.
Sexy, sassy, and just up my alley. This is a perfect wet weekend read for anyone, over or under 40.
This is hands down my favorite book by LB. The cover yes part of a series is original and eye catching. I loved the plot of this book. Both characters are dealing with being older but still trying to find their own happiness. I loved the adoption aspect many authors either stay away from this topic or botch it completely. LB did a beautiful job. It was very relatable and filled with emotion. Giant is an incredible man. I love how his character is so raw and manly. Letty is stubborn, strong, and would risk everything for a child she never met. Truly an amazing story and one you should add to your tbr ASAP.
Want to read a book about a huge hunk of a lumberjack man? You’re in the right place! Giant Harrington is a sexy silver bear of a man. He’s a man of few words who prefers to be left alone. Olivet Pearson almost runs him over she’s so taken by this man… But Olivet needs his land. Giant won’t even talk to her. But “Letty” is a talker and she’s persistent. Thus blooms the worst idea ever, Giant says he will entertain her offer if she spends 3 nights up on the ridge with him. Letty is up for the challenge. And just you wait until the first night where they share a tent! Giant knows what he likes and he likes Letty, who he affectionately calls “Cricket.” He protects her when she needs protection and Giant washes her hair! That one really got me. He’s swoon-worthy! Letty has her life all planned out and she’s used to trying to do things on her own. This definitely gets in the way of their budding relationship. How do you make a relationship work long distance from Chicago to the mountains of Georgia? Read this fabulous over 40 romance to find out.
This book was not what I expected and that made me love it so much more! At first I really didn’t like Giant, but he totally grew on me. Sure you can be a sexy beast of a man, but you have to be nice. Giant ends up endearing himself to me. Great start to a new spin-off series in L.B. Dunbar’s Over 40 Romance collection! 4.5 stars
All the stars I loved this book! Giant is a 49 year old widower searching for something more in his life. Enter 40 year old Letty, who wants to buy his property in the mountains. He agrees to discuss it if she spends 3 days camping with him.
Neither is good at expressing their emotions and talking things out. Assumptions cause problems that could be solved if they communicated better. This story is sweet and steamy and I can’t wait to read about the other brothers.
I received an ARC for an honest review.
I absolutely love all the silver foxes that the incredible LB Dunbar graces us with in each one of her over 40 romances. But Giant, OMG he is really something. I mean he washes Letty’s hair. If I wasn’t already head over heels with the big, intense and complicated man, that would have tipped me over the edge. I honestly enjoyed every moment of Giant and Letty’s incredibly down to earth romance, from the bickering to the sweet gestures, to the complicated moments to the sexy times. Each moment felt real and not at all forced and like it was supposed to happen exactly as it did for everything to work out. Simply Fantastic!!!
L.B. Dunbar writes the types of books I can relate to. Her characters have gone through life, made choices, made mistakes, lived through loss, pain, and happiness. Now that they are over 40 and turning silver at the temples, they are faced with new choices, new loves, new dilemmas. Reading about “older” characters makes L.B.’s books relatable on a whole different level. Their issues are similar to my issues and that is what makes her books stand out to me. Normally!
This time around, our 40ish characters still had some growing up to do and a lot of learning about communication to do. These “character flaws” made the book interesting with sprinkles of frustration. A little communication between these two would have went a long way to easing their pain and suffering but as the old sayings go, it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
Silver Brewer is book one in The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series and there are 3 more eligible brothers just waiting for their turn with a new female lead. George “Giant” Harrington, the eldest, is the main character this time around. He is irrefutably a lumbersexual, mountain man ready to show the independent city girl, Olivet “Cricket” Pierson, all that his “property” entails. When these two aren’t verbally speaking, they know how to heat up the sheets, or the sleeping bags, or the rugs, even furniture. Some of their extra-curricular activities were quite shocking, even a little brazen, and that is totally why I loved these two so much. When they open their mouths though, one of them usually speaks before thinking and lets stubborn pride get in the way.
All of this makes for a very enjoyable story and a lusting for all things rough, gruff, and masculine. Just when I was wondering where this story was going to head, it took a twist I absolutely did not see coming but could totally sympathize with Giant over. Some life changes are really big and you can’t always jump right in with two feet. Ironically, that is what I loved most about this book. The way Giant and Letty didn’t hold back and went after what they wanted whole-heartedly is definitely part of the charm of reading these silver fox books. Life is too short to wait around thinking about what you want. Life is there to be lived, and lived well.
There is just “something” about these sexy silver foxes of LB Dunbar’s. Each one is different…each one has that “something special” that “je ne sais quoi” that draws you into his world. Don’t get me wrong, the heroines of these stories are special too but these men? They are completely sigh and swoon worthy. The fact that they are in my age bracket, makes them even more ideal, more attractive. Giant is just the beginning of the beautiful Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge and I’m seeing some “alone” time coming up soon — or rather — “together” time as my case may be lol. One of the sexiest scenes (without the full monty) ever comes in a tent…I’ve never been one for camping…definitely not my thing…but I WILL say, this particular scene may have changed my mind. And there is so much more. Secrets that shouldn’t have been secrets play a huge part in how this story goes and the “will they or won’t they” is strong. Another hit in my book!
Giant and Letty, Letty and Giant! These two are so wonderful, their banter from the moment they first meet until the last page just makes you smile throughout the entire book. This is the first book in the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge but LB Dunbar has written many other over 40 romance books and this one ranks right up there as a favorite. We are taken back to the sweet Georgia town where Second Chance takes place and meet Giant Harrington, one of Mati’s brothers and Letty Pierson when she arrives in town looking for Giant. Giant and Letty have this chemistry that just fits the two of them and will leaving you swooning for more Giant or actually wanting a Giant of your own. I love how this author can show how finding love with an intense chemistry, when you are over 40 is still possible.
Oh my-lanta!! A new series by Ms. Dunbar! More over 40 sexy silver foxes goodness! Sign me up!
Silver Brewer is George (Giant) Harrington’s story. The oldest Harrington sibling. The strong, silent type…oh holy swoon!
This story of Giant and Letty. First off I love the nickname that Giant gives Letty…I mean come on, how cute is Cricket..and his reasoning just made me melt! There are so many things in this story that made me melt.
Letty is trying to find her place in her world. She has been dealt a crap hand and she is making her way, on her own to find her happiness. Then she meets Giant.
I love the surprises in the story, I am not gonna give them away but they were poignant and just lovely. The lengths that Letty and Giant go through is heart wrenching and made me cheer harder for the both of them.
I loved the premise of Giant getting another chance of a happily ever after. The way that Ms. Dunbar is able to write about the difference between his two endings is smooth and eloquent and just beautiful. Yes you can have more than one happily ever after! They can be as different as night and day but one is no less important than the other.
Ms. Dunbar doesn’t fail to amaze me with her writing of mature characters, still full of life, still wanting to find love and the holy hotness of the chemistry and smexy times! Thank you for sharing your stories with us!
First let me preface this review with the fact that I have read all of the over forty series books that LB Dunbar has written. I enjoyed everyone of them. but after reading Silver Brewer, I must say this book has jumped to number 1 on my list. This book introduces us to Giant Harrington and Letty Pierson. They meet when Letty comes to Georgia from Chicago to strike a deal to purchase his land for a real estate client. Sparks instantly fly. Letty was burned by her ex in the past, and Giant has a hard time letting himself open up and get close to someone after his wife died of cancer. Their relationship has its ups and downs and many misunderstandings due to poor communication. I loved how Giant overcame his relationship insecurities. Theirs was an emotional journey to find happiness. LB Dunbar shows us that second chance relationships and love is possible at any age if you are willing to work through the obstacles that are in your path. Compromise is key as is trust. I highly recommend this book. You will fall in love with Giant and Letty and will not be disappointed.
Letty and Giant…the new dream couple so perfectly created by Ms. dunbar.
With each book, her Silver Foxes and Silver Vixen grow even more on me and Giant and Letty are no exception. Although both master their lives more or less, they have never learned to communicate appropriately. There is so much inner turmoil, so many inner monologues and questions they never dare to reveal. At times I wanted to yell at them, knock some sense into them, to force them to discuss and solve their problems. But instead, they stumble from one misunderstanding to the next…
Both carry quite some baggage with them, both of them endured quite some clusterfuck and it is really, REALLY emotional to read about their past experiences.
There are so many bumps along their way, so many unexpected twists, so much back and forth that I got quite agitated and angry with them, but could also relate to and sympathize with so very much…
This book is very emotional, very captivating, very intense, very profound…a page turner and a must read like all of Ms. Dunbar’s books.
I can’t wait to read Billy’s story!
5 Star Review Silver Brewer (The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge #1) by L.B.Dunbar
I have only recently discovered L.B.Dunbar and I have no idea why that is as I love her style of writing. The Silver Foxes stories for the over 40’s is a fabulous series of books that I have fallen in love with. Each book has left a smile on my face and Silver Brewer is no exception.
I particularly like that the characters are more mature than in the majority of books that I read. It’s wonderful to read a series about characters who are not in their 20’s or even 30’s; it’s such a refreshing change.
Olivet (Letty) Pierson and George (Giant) Harrington were such a fabulous couple, I loved them both individually and especially together.
What starts off slow and steady builds to a fabulous conclusion that had me captivated from the first to the last chapter. Silver Brewer is a well written, strong, second chance at love story with characters that will quickly burrow into your heart.
Can Letty and Giant survive living so far apart? Will their love be strong enough to overcome the obstacles or will the distance be too much and tear them apart?
Silver Brewer is a totally heart warming, smoking hot story that ticked all the boxes and had me smiling throughout. One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
I appreciate these stories because so often it seems people forget that you are never too old to find love and all that goes with it. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.
