L.B. Dunbar pitches her tent and stakes her claim as the queen of second chance, sexy silver fox romances, and this story is no different. – Goodreads.Olivet Pierson needs his land. Sexy. Emotional. Angsty. Real. Honest. Heartbreaking. Swoonworthy. Heartwarming. Silver Brewer by L.B.Dunbar was all of these and then some more. She portrays emotional up and downs of life in completely relatable and believable style. And this story was no exception.
I love the silver fox stories by L.B.Dunbar. I have read a lot of them and am always looking forward to her next one. This is the story of Giant, the oldest Harrington brother and Letty. If you read her last few books, you have already met Harringtons of Blue Ridge. Giant is an amazing man. Ex military. Responsible father. Gorgeous, sexy, brooding, protective, caring, intense, a bit rough like his beard, comfortable in mountains and rivers. I drooled over him so badly when the author described in graphic details about his activities. In fact, that is one of my favourite part of L.B.Dunbar’s writing. It is so vivid and detailed and deep that I can see the scenes in my mind’s eyes in all colourful glory!
Letty is apparently opposite of him. A city girl, never married, never had a child. But she has a big heart. Such a big heart that it is dying slow death under pressure of working in real estate that she absolutely hates and loneliness and sadness. When she comes to Blue Ridge to make a deal with Giant Harrington about his grandfather’s land, she did not know her life is going to change forever. Giant shows her a new way of living and she fills up Giant’s silent colourless life with excitement. Their bond is really unique. But they are both adults and real life can be brutal on love. The struggles are real. So they will love fiercely and with all they have. Still they had to suffer heartbreak, pain, misunderstandings, devastation, anger, guilt and the whole lot of hell. I loved the difficult times as much as the sweet memories! The chemistry was on fire! The story was never boring as the author kept on throwing new challenges on their way.
Silver Brewer by L.B.Dunbar was a perfect swoony, sexy and angsty emotional rollercoaster. It was about finding love and friendship in the most unexpected circumstances.
Received ARC for Honest review
“Name your price, Mr.Harington?”
The quietude solitary existence of George the Giant is shattered by the chirping of a cricket- Olivet Pierson. His recluse life in the vast land on a mountain is trespased with an intent to purchase
No Sale!!
Pink mouth pouts, nervous babbling begins and Lumbersexual & Steamy Giant is slain…
Dunbar is in a league of her own. She gives us one Hunky, drool worthy, Young at heart, sexy silver fox after the other and I’m in love with the Harrington brothers.
Billy The Pub owner
Charlie the mayor
Jamie the motorcycle man
Let’s focus on BFG- Big Friendly Giant. He is silent, brooding, uncomfortable around words. Silently mourning the loss in his life, he hides deep into his vast land, up in the mountain, in a cabin
“He’s gruff, as if a smile and a good chuckle might set him on fire. He’s already larger than life in size, but with a good guffaw, he’d be bigger than thunder. A Greek god of sound and stature.”
Love finds its way to him regardless of his barriers, comes bumping around in a rental car narrowly crushing him literally, but mangles his heart eventually. Polar opposites attract with a supernova force and their witnesses are a clear icy brook, several million stars, crisp mountain air and a bear!!
“My life is so quiet.”
“And I talk too much.”
I have always loved Dunbar’s mature handling of women’s sentiments. Older men & women with real problems and yet their lives are equally torn apart as any young’uns.
Written with tenderness and equal parts charm, it’ll be so easy to fall in love with Harrington brothers at first sight.
“I’m suddenly thinking about the size of his property and the lay of his land. The width. The girth. The length. Damn Marcus for his innuendos.”
They’re a bunch of sassy, sarcastic charmer, but their bonds are strong as steel.
Heady as a freshly brewed beer, this story is intoxicating and magical as the night sky
Dive deep and let the love bathe you like a chilly mountain river.
4.5 stars for Chirping cricket that tamed the Big Bad Wolf
This is my first book by this author and it tickled me. Loved the laughs. Love the heroines crazy humor. Great to read an over 40 couple can still be interesting and super sexy. I loved her friend Marcus too. I highly recommend!
I didn’t think I could love another book in this series more than I already love the previous ones but man did Giant steal my heart right along with Letty’s! This story was on FIRE!! I mean the camping trip alone had my blood boiling and that was just the beginning…it just got better! Then I teared up a bit at all the sweetness this story holds. The way they interact with one another made me laugh. This was a well rounded love story to the core and I loved it so much I’m ready to read it again!
Most romance novels are written with characters in their 20’s and 30’s but this author bring me to an all other level, closer to my age, the 40’s and 50’s. This 4 star story was quite entertaining.
Letty needs to get the land for her company in order to secure herself financially. Now she finds herself in the back woods of Georgia. Giant the owner of the land doesn’t make it very easy for her.
This story was an adventure of funny bantering and full blown sexiness. The chemistry and attraction was scorching hot. It was an highly entertaining story with amazing characters. This is a great introduction for a new series, The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge.
Standalone for now told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
Oooookay, I’m really speechless!!!
LB Dunbar, this is perfection!!
With every book Mrs. Dunbar writes, I love her work more and more. Her stories are credible and real. I can empathize with the characters so well. These people have already lived about half of their lives and made decisions that either deepen during the story or they turn their whole lives upside down to start over. These stories give hope. The characters are brave and determined. Most of the time they know exactly what they want. And to top it all they find love .
Even if they are as different as Letty and Giant. These two are by far my most favorite couple. There’s no particular reason, we only clicked . I love them together, they are perfect in each and every way. I love their world view and how compassionate they both are even if they are so different in other ways. I absolutely adore them.
I’m so in love with LB Dunbars writing and her characters, I’m absolutely excited for her next book.
Love at first fight, no sight, no definitely fight, and probably sight…
This book was so much. Laugh out loud funny, and spot on for what the reader was thinking but didn’t expect to actually happen. Happy, heart breaking, surprising and ultimately an uplifting love story.
“Giant” Harrington, a veteran, father, son and widower never thought he might meet his match in a little lady nicknamed Letty, or better yet Cricket.
“Letty” Pierson never thought she would or could be bested by a mountain of a man, with a soft spot for family.
When these two come together their lives are changed forever.
This book has all the feels. You won’t regret it.
I gotta say I don’t know what it is about this author writing but after reading this I want to go out and find a guy like Giant! She has this way of writing him that just makes you love him and want to jump him in a tent. I’m a wee bit jealous of Olivet if I’m being honest. These two seriously made my head spin. They were either love each other or they don’t. They just can’t seem to make things work between. The distance is a killer for them. Plus there’s omitting some things that keep tearing them apart. I love them together but the back and forth made my head spin. It takes so wise words from family to get them to see what they have together is great and works. He’s trying to get Olivet to follow her dreams and be happy. Despite my head spinning, I really enjoyed these two and seeing little glimpse of Mati and Denton again. I love the Harrington men and I can tell they definitely have stories to tell.. I can’t wait to read all of them!
L.B. Dunbar has clenched my addiction to her sexy silver foxes status. I had been anxiously awaiting this spin off series. Without a doubt, Giant Harrington has stolen my heart. Giant is the eldest of the Harrington family. He is a “loner” of sorts, a veteran, a widower, and the COO of the Harrington family’s brewing company. Olivet is a strong independent woman on the outside. She was clawing her way to the top of her family’s real estate firm. She needed to obtain the land held by Giant Harrington but would she be able to adhere to his unconventional stipulation he has placed on even considering her proposal? I dare you readers to not fall in love with these two and their unique situation/relationship. I am anxious for more of the Harrington family but Giant has become my most endearing brother so far.

Silver Brewer is from The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. I think it is the first book in the series.
This is only the 2nd book that I have read by this author but she is fast becoming one of my go to authors! I love the trope and it makes me happy to L. B. Dunbar. These romances for the over 40 are fantastic!
Silver Brewer is George “Giant” Harrington and Olivet “Letty” Pierson’s story.
Giant’s nickname comes from him being a giant of a man. And I LOVE how Giant called Letty “cricket”.
I LOVE Giant’s father and family! They are how a family should be. While Letty’s family is completely dysfunctional.
Letty and Giant meet when Letty tries to get Giant to sell his land. What it ends up leading to is some wild uninhibited sexy and just plain great sex.
I really loved their story. It has all the feels. Angst, chills, tears and love that can be heartbreaking at times but ends on Happily Ever After.
I will be anxiously awaiting Silver Player Billy Harrington’s story. Coming January 2020!!!
I love this “Silver Foxes” series, and this is Olivet / Cricket and George / Giant’s story. Giant is a silent and broody man who is a recluse, until this is shattered when Letty comes barging into his life wanting to buy his property. Giant strikes a deal with her that she spends 3 days camping with him in the mountains, and he will be prepared to discuss a sale. These two are totally opposites, yet perfect together. This is a beautifully written story which is sweet and steamy and has me intrigued and hooked throughout. I cannot wait to read more from this gifted author, whose work I highly recommend for all readers.
Silver Brewer
Another GREAT addition to the #silverfoxes series.
Personally, I believe that these types of stories are where this author completely shines.
This story is different, entertaining and highly enjoyable.
Awkward meets outlandish.
Routine meets spontaneous.
Real life moments, feelings and situations.
I highly recommend this book if this genre is your choice.
I can’t wait for more!
Giant (George) gives new meaning to the Burly Brooding Standoffish Alpha Male. His biggest form of communication is grunting. He is the oldest Harrington, a vet, runs the family brewery, is a widower with two adult children, as well as two grandchildren. He is the Rock of the Harrington siblings. His life is routine, its almost regiment.
Letty is a strong independent woman who never ever backs away from a challenge. So, when she is offered a partnership in the Commercial Real Estate company she works for in Chicago, if she can precure a piece of property in Blue Ridge Georgia to be turned into a High-End Resort, she goes in full-fledged, even if that means she rambles when she’s nervous. And Giant makes her nervous in more ways than professionally.
Letty’s proposition pisses Giant off so much that he has a proposition of his own … he’ll break her so badly she’ll retreat …. There’s no way this city girl will ever be able to handle 3 nights camping on his land. Problem is as much as Letty is more suited to Glamping … the minute you tell her she can’t do something, is the minute you’ll lose, she never backs down from a challenge.
What neither Giant nor Letty was prepared for was the Yin & Yang Effect. This woman sparked new life into him, and he filled a void deep within her … Problem is GA & IL are miles apart. Giant has already led the life Letty yarns for. Will they ever lean Love Gives. Holds. Sacrifices.
When a man is named Giant as a nickname, you know what to expect. He is also a middle aged man who has experienced war and great loss in his life. Now, all he wants is peace and quiet, a beer, and a hike through his wonderful land.
All is seemingly fine, until Letty is given the assignment to go and purchase the land Giant owns so her uncle’s realty firm can make a ton of money. Let’s face it. Letty is not the best sales person, but she is the most motivated woman you ever met. No matter what she does, or what her good intentions are, she always manages to mess up. So, imagine Giant, a man who does not talk much and loves silence. Add Letty, who talks incessantly when she is nervous (and Giant makes her very nervous). And you have the recipe for an incredible hike through Blue Ridge.
You would never expect these two characters would have so much in common. They both are lonely. Both of them also have a longing for a real family and a connection to another human being that will put some sazz into their lives.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
When L.B. Dunbar publishes a new book I am filled with excitement, anticipation and gratitude. She has given the book world magical stories of second chances and everlasting love at any age.
George “Giant” Harrington was content being alone in the woods because he enjoyed the solitude. Until Olivet “Letty” Pierson stalked towards his cabin, wearing a sexy business suit and ridiculously high heels. She was a sight for sore eyes but he trusted no one and didn’t appreciate the intrusion. He kept his emotions hidden behind the sadness his life had given him. He served his country proudly but the war changed him and made him a loner; sad and wistful for the life he had and wondering what the future could possibly hold for him.
Challenging Letty came out of nowhere, but he needed her to see the beauty of the ridge and that it was a piece of him that was necessary for him to survive. Letty turned his life upside down in the three days they spent together and he felt himself warming up inside and the future looked brighter, a bit more defined, and much happier. If only he was sure this was where he was supposed to be, because he was afraid of the feelings that were playing with his heart. Giant was a quiet man who had so much to give and he didn’t want to be alone anymore.
Letty made him feel again, with romantic and sensual desires that arose from within him when they were together. Does she feel the same or is her life just beginning, while his is at a standstill? Giant gave Letty the gift of nature and she gave him the gift of love. Together, they could learn from each other and have the future they had only dreamed about.
This book starts out as a LOL book then goes to “heart, meet love” and has us all hoping there is love still out there for those over 40. Everyone should have a Giant in their life!!!
Another Wonderful Read
Silver Brewer by L.B. Dunbar brings us into the world of the Harrison Brothers, who we have met in previous books. Although I’m not completely sure, this books seems to happen in between Second Chance and Wine and Dine from people and locations mentioned in the story. This is the story of Giant Harringon, the eldest in the clan, a widower who doesn’t think he will ever find love again after being widowed 10 yrs earlier. Olivet gets dropped into his life in an irritating way and even though he is initially attracted to her there story has many facets. I love the fact that L.B. Dunbar shows us how love is not just for the young, but can be found at any age. To me this was just not one story but 2-3 tales of love for this couple and how they find their way to their own HEA. Loved this book and didn’t want to see it end but can’t wait to see what is in store for the rest of this interesting family of Silver Foxes!
Silver Brewer is sweet, it’s steamy and it is another over 40, sexy Silver Fox romance story by L.B. Dunbar that you don’t want to miss!
She gives us hope that love can happen at any age, whether it is your first time or second chance.
Giant is big, quiet and broody. Letty is chatty, sassy and sweet. They are complete opposites, but a three day camping bet turns into a wilderness trip that takes them both by surprise. They can’t get enough of each other, but living 1000s miles apart, each having their own obligations and future dreams, makes a relationship a challenge. They just have to decide if love is enough to merge their dreams and overcome all of the obstacles in front of them.
Once again LB has taken great care with her den of silver foxes! Giant and Letty’s journey is lovingly relatable. A must-read for anyone who feels they are too old to start or start over.
