I love my visits to Blue Ridge and I love catching up with the Harrington clan, this was the book I’ve been waiting for, I was excited for the mysterious, illusive James Harrington’s story and I was not disappointed, this book was everything I expected and so much more.
James and Evie Harrington’s story is not a sunshine and rainbows romance, they have shared so much heartache and that means this book has plenty of drama and angst but it also has plenty of love, compassion and chemistry, let’s not forget the scorching hot chemistry…..
I don’t want to write a review full of spoilers, I think this book is best read first hand with no preconceived ideas so I’m just going to leave you with how this book made me feel. Silver Biker touched me on so many levels, I smiled, I cried, I swooned and at times I wanted to bang this couples heads together but this book was a very special read because this story has stayed with me long after the last word was read. It was an emotional read that once I started I couldn’t put down and as much as I loved James and Evie, I also loved catching up with the rest of the Harrington clan and I’m left wanting more from The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge. Can’t wait to see what Ms Dunbar has in store for the next instalment in this great series.
A touching, swoony and hot story about sexy James “Ranger” Harrington, the bad boy of the Harrington brothers and how he found his way back not only to his family but to the love of his life.
“My heart is hardwired to her, and the moment we connect, it’s like a plug in an outlet, sexual energy flowing.”
Nineteen years ago the sexy search and rescue officer James Harrington swept the slightly lost debutant Evelyn Fitzpatrick off her feet, literally and figuratively. Their attraction was like rock and flint, sparks flew and the die was cast. Their attraction grew to seemingly unbreakable love until tragedy made James push Evie away.
After almost six years of waiting for James to seek her out, Evie is ready to move forward and goes back to Blue Ridge to ask James for a divorce. But is that what she truly wants? Can James overcome his misplaced guilt in order to win back his wife’s heart?
With SILVER BIKER, L. B. Dunbar pens a sizzling page turner. Flush with sizzling hot chemistry and pull at your heart strings emotion, we get to know James and Evie through flashbacks on how they met and fell in love the first time, and how they struggle to come to grips with what they lost and acknowledge that no matter how much time and distance they place between each other, their love is forever.
“His hard strengthened my soft. My tenderness loosened his stiffness.”
I was hooked from the very start with James and Evie’s story. Even though their story starts off with them in a very shaky position, it’s obvious how much they long for each other, how perfect they would be together if only they could get past the grief that’s blinding them, especially James. I felt so much for James and his self-loathing. I rooted for them and was very satisfied with how their relationship developed.
“I’ve been waiting for you to take my heart. Keep it.”
This is only my third L.B. Dunbar read. I “met” her through Penny Reid’s Smarty Pants expanded Universe and I LOVE how much I’ve liked her heroes. I highlighted so, so many lovely, swoony phrases!
Silver Biker is a standalone romance from the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series by L.B. Dunbar. It is a sexy, swoony, compelling romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.
L.B. OMG! This book is the BEST in this amazing series! This is 5 + star book! I already want to read it again! This one is heartbreaking, sexy, beautiful and oh soooo GOOD! James & Evie’s loss is unimaginable and how do you come back from something Iike that? A lot of work! James seems to just run from things… Evie’s tries to face things. You’ll cry your eyes out but in the end you’ll see that it is possible to heal in a way that will allow you to live your life in a different way even though that loss will always be a part of your heart!
If you have read other stories in the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge you may remember referrals to and glimpses of James Harrington. I guess you could call him the ‘black sheep’ of the family but his disassociation with his family was really his own doing, it was not something they wanted. Then there is his estranged wife, Evie, who walked out on him after their son died, leaving him even more heart broken – well that is the story everyone knows and believes.
These two first crossed paths nineteen years ago when James worked as a Park Ranger, he stumbled upon Evie hiking a local trail. The second time was later that night when he approached her campsite to inform her she was illegally parking her airstream on private land. This was a night that included skinny dipping, incredibly hot sex and the beginnings of a baby in her womb.
Three months later Evie shows up in town to inform James of his impending fatherhood and she never leaves. They become inseparable after marrying and making promises to be each other’s rock for the rest of their lives. And they do that for years until an unimaginable tragedy completely tears them apart.
‘A rock doesn’t roll over his wife. He doesn’t push her aside, and that’s what you did, didn’t you?’
Six years later, Evie is back in town for a fleeting visit, she needs closure on her marriage to James so she can move forward. However, what she finds is an incredibly broken man who seems to not have taken any steps forward, in fact he is going backwards. It is heartbreaking to see James like this and very confronting too. Memories of their life together come flooding back and Evie is feeling emotionally depleted being back in Blue Ridge but it’s also time to face people she hasn’t seen for so long.
‘I pushed her away because I love her. I didn’t want to take her down with me, and I was going down. I was slipping under my own guilt and grief with no light above me, not even her.’
James has sentenced himself to a life of loneliness, he thinks he deserves nothing less. However, the only thing that has never changed is the depth of love he has for Evie. Seeing her again reminds him just how lonely he really is.
‘Pillars sometimes crumble,’ she says, as she holds me. ‘And then we just build them up again.’ She has no idea, and I’m out of gravel and mortar to rebuild myself, to rebuild us.
Before she left, Evie felt neglected and unloved, her grief was never validated by James and when she needed him the most he failed to live up to the promises he made her on their wedding day. The last thing she wanted to do was leave him, his family and the town they built their life together in.
‘You said we’d get through anything as long as we were together.’
This is a story about two broken people, one seeking closure on their painful past and the other seeking forgiveness. The feelings between Evie and James were incredibly real and raw. This story had all the book feels for me and was such an emotional journey for this couple who were simply destined to be together.
It was heartbreaking, raw and very emotional. It was wonderful. I definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
To say I loved this book is a colossal understatement. As the final Harrington brother, this an ending of sorts, but a happily ever after for James an Evie is an incredible accomplishment!
James and Evie are two broken people who love each other but just can’t seem to get beyond their loss. Can they overcome 6 years and all the unspoken emotions and memories? Evie thinks she is ready to move on, but can either of them really do that?
L.B. Dunbar’s words are poignant and incredibly touching. I cried many times throughout this book. Tears of unbelievable sadness and incredible joy. On one hand I wanted to reach the end, but dreaded it, because I just wanted more!
A masterpiece! Bravo!
Silver Biker is now my favorite book in this series! It grabbed my attention right from the beginning and held me hostage until the very end!
If you have read any of the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge than you know that James has been a bit illusive, definitely a mystery and always seems like the odd man out when it comes to his family. Well now we have his story and all of those questions of why he is the way he is will be answered.
This story is an emotional, intense story about love, unimaginable loss and finding yourself as you come out on the other side. My heart went out to Evie and James as they navigated the pain of their past that caused the six year distance between them. Now, is their chance to reconnect, come to terms with their past, forgive each other and find the love they once had.
Silver Biker – LB Dunbar
Of all the Harrington stories, I think this one is my favourite….. but then I think I’ve said that about every single LB Dunbar Silver Fox story.
James and Evie Harrington’s story has so much angst and heartache but at the same time, brings with it hope, love and a resounding story of redemption.
Their story starts out like a match to a flame, burning brightly but a horrible accident brings them undone and creates a massive wedge between not only them but also between James and his family.
So much heat and passion between Evie and James, and so much sadness. You just want to reach into the pages and give these guys a huge hug and tell them everything will be OK but you know their journey to redemption will be long, twisted and painful. You can’t help but admire the wonderful way LB Dunbar invites the reader into these characters lives and involves them throughout.
Without giving anything away, you will be systematically stripped down emotionally but uplifted by the redemption these characters fight hard to gain.
Every Harrington family member makes an appearance and every one of them hold a pivotal supporting role to the story of James and Evie Harrington.
I finished this book at 8am over a cup of coffee and a pile of tissues. Yes, LB Dunbar, you made me cry in my morning coffee but it was a cathartic experience after wading through this story with Ranger and Peach. Thank you for your wonderful words
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I have been looking forward to James’ book since we got our first glimpse of him with this Harrington Brothers and the silver foxes series started and just learning what he was all about. L.B. Dunbar did NOT disappoint. This is literally one of my favorite books of 2020.
In this amazing series, we have seen snippets of James “Ranger” Harrington but he always stayed away from the Harrington family and was elusive and the black sheep of the family. Finally we got to see the real James in this book and oh my goodness he’s hot, sexy, sweet, challenging and so many more crazy qualities but I don’t want to give him away. Just know that he does not disappoint in anyway shape or form. He’s my favorite of the Harrington brothers and I really did not expect that to be the case.
I love how the book starts back when James and Evie first meet. My, oh my, what a meeting! Then we come back to present day. This happens many times throughout the story and it’s perfect. We get to see what has caused James to be the way he is, what caused them to split up and then see them work to find out if they can become the couple they used to be. It’s an amazing read and I could not put it down. I don’t know if I can start enough book for a bit because nothing is going to live up to this amazing work. I’m sad to see the end of the Harrington brothers though but what an amazing journey it was.
L.B. Dunbar has definitely saved the best for last in the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. James and Evie’s story is an emotional one which will have you glued to the edge of your seat, and feeling every emotion that they are feeling. This book is about two lost and broken people who find their way back to each other after six years of separation. They experience a loss in their life that most people never recover from. They never had a chance to heal after their loss as James sent Evie away. Evie is back in town to finalize things with James once and for all; however, they find that their connection is still there but it will take some work on both of their parts to come together and heal. The entire Harrington family appears in this book and the conversations between them and James will leave you teary-eyed. Evie’s strength and determination is amazing, and with the help of James’ family and friends, these two are able to come together and heal. This book is a beautifully written story about loss and recovery. This is a definite must read. I assure you that you will not be disappointed but I must caution you to have a box of tissues handy.
Rugged, rough, rip your heart out, repair it, and repeat. L.B. Dunbar’s Silver Biker is a constant flow of emotions. Her ability to navigate the heartbreak that rippled through a family, nearly breaking it, and slowly stitching them back together is award worthy.
This book is an ending for the ages. Readers catch quick glimpses of past leading characters that bind the last of the siblings together; each one with their own HEA in previous books. Mrs. Dunbar is able to articulate, so very well, what happens when your family never stops believing in you and wishing you were apart of them still. James and Evie’s journey is one that is a cacophony of strong, passionate emotions: some sweet, some fire, heartbreak, depression, and desire. That desire could be attributed to so much more than the physical chemistry they share. And let me tell ya, there is some HOT chemistry in this book!!
I hope to never understand the pain these two leading characters share. However, the tale is written so beautifully to the pain, the need for one another and the feeling of loss that I cried. I cried hard so keep your tissues close and maybe read it when you kids aren’t around! Kudos for another magnificent book by L.B. Dunbar. I do suggest that the books are read in order to best understand the history swirling around the Harrington family.
I don’t know if I can write a review that will do this book justice and bring it the praise it deserves, but I will do my best. Two suggestions I have: have tissues handy and don’t start this book at bedtime or you will be reading long into the night.
This book, by far, is one of the most powerful stories I’ve ever read about living life after loss. It is about forgiving someone who has hurt you, but more importantly, forgiving yourself for circumstances beyond your control. Anyone who has lived through a mind-numbing loss will be able to identify with all the emotions that James and Evie live through. Even if you haven’t had that experience, L.B. writes in such a way that you can feel all of the pain that is associated with such a loss. Interwoven with the pain is joy, love and heat. Her words are powerful; her descriptions are on point and the weaving of the relationship between the past and present brings the story together so well.
Even though the book is about loss, the overlying feeling I had at the end of the book was of hope and the all encompassing feeling that love and time can overcome anything. Finding your forever person is life altering, and being the rock that person needs is, at the end of the day, all you need to make it in life. Family is everything, and L. B. Dunbar has brought it all together in this final book in the series. Well done and bravo.
My emotions were so all over the place with this awesome book. Grief is a path that is so different for everyone and it can take you to your knees. Evie and Ranger were thrown into it’s path of destruction trying to ride out the storm, until it was finally time to pick up those pieces and move on. Can they finally grab the love they’ve always felt or does grief win?? Loved this book!!!!. I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
This is Book 4 of The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge
This is the story of James & Evie. They met nineteen years ago. She was hiking and he was working. They hooked up. Three months later Evie is back and she is pregnant. Present Day: They have been separated for six years. She’s back for a divorce. The things that happened in this story as it is all revealed are so, so sad. This is a heartbreaking story, for sure. It left me extremely emotional when it ended, but in a good way. It is a long road finding their way back and moving forward with each other. It’s truly an emotional roller coaster. I can’t say enough good things about this book. L.B. Dunbar is a great writer. This whole series is great. Please read.
L.B. Dunbar’s final trip into the Harrington Brothers is both Heartbreaking and Heartwarming at the same time. In Silver Biker, we get the story we have all been waiting for. James Harrington has been showing up in multiple Silver Fox stories and here we are given his poignant story of loss and how he finds his way back to the love of his life, Evie. James and Evie suffer a loss that no one should ever have to live through. After 6 years apart, they are burning together as fast and furious as they did when they first met, but is it enough to work their way back to a new life together. Can James find a way to forgive himself for actions and choices he made in the past and can Evie find a way to build a new trust in their relationship together. Sometimes love isn’t always enough, but L.B. Dunbar finds a way to draw you into the emotions that James and Evie are experiencing and the love that they share. A must read for Silver Fox fans and an introduction to a few more characters whose stories I would love to hear. Fingers crossed!
Silver Biker (The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge)
By: L. B. Dunbar
I have really enjoyed reading L. B. Dunbar’s series about the brothers Harrington.
Each and every book was an emotional read, but this one, this one broke my heart and then slowly put it back together again.
Evie and James Harrington didn’t begin their relationship with dates, and movies and soft whispers of love. No these two had a onenight stand and a few months later were married. They had 12 years as a family until the day their family changed, their lives and hearts broken, and the grief and guilt broke one of them almost beyond repair.
After six years of separation, Evie wants to finally take steps to move forward and because she still deep inside loves James, she goes to ask him to sign divorce papers.
Throughout the story James and Evie’s story goes back and forth from present to past and back again. They relive the good and the bad.
Heads up here, this is a story that will touch you because this story takes every parent to the place no parent wants to go. It can be a tough read, but my lord it is a read that in the end makes you cheer and celebrate for not just Evie and James but for the entire Harrington family. Keep the tissues close at hand you will need them.
L. B. Dunbar has given us, lust, love, loss, grief and mixes in humor, truths, understanding and growth and renewal.
Well. L.B. Dunbar does it again. Another top 2020 read. This is an absolutely stunning, emotional, steamy conclusion to the Harrington Brothers series. I could not put “Silver Biker” down, and my heart felt uplifted, yet saddened when it was over. Book hangovers are not the norm for me, and I definitely suffered one.
“Silver Biker” is second chance romance done *perfectly*. The touching blend of past memories is interspersed with the couples current day real life trials and unimaginable heartache. I rooted for James and Evie and was so fulfilled by the end of this story. Even though their story is a sad one, their love just felt real. It was palpable. They had stuff to work through and overcome and they did the hard work.
I enjoyed coming back to the Harrington family, we see a lot more of Giant and Letty (“Silver Brewer” is book 1 in the series), and that was such a treat. The entire Harrington clan comes together in this book and it was done in a touching way, read: there were tears. (While I feel like having read the previous books will greatly enrich this conclusion story- “Silver Biker” stands alone.) James was such a self proclaimed black sheep that going in, I truly didn’t expect to care much for him, and through this novel, he became my favorite brother, and possibly favorite L.B. Hero. He and his estranged wife have been broken by their grief. But, there is still so much love. Tears were shed and smiles were had witnessing hearts and families mended. This story was just absolutely beautiful and such a touching conclusion to the Harrington brother series.
Where do you even begin, Silver Biker is everything I anticipated it to be and a whole lot more.
James & Evie’s story is one that will take you on an emotional ride from the very first page right up until you see the words The End.
James & Evie have been through so much together and when it’s time to come to a heart felt decision do you fight for what you want or do you walk away and try and move on. Watching them fight for what they believe can be is heartbreaking at times but the heartwarming comes at you just as hard.
I have loved every book in this series but I believe L.B truly saved the best for last.
I have been waiting on pins and needles for James’s book! I love all the Harrington men but I have to say that James is my favorite. James and Evie went through emotional torment and I was in tears through half the book. The emotions are high, the characters are amazing. We got to have all the Harrington brothers and family in this one. All I can say is this is hands down my favorite book by this author. There were things I never saw coming and made me see the bad silver biker in a whole new light. My heart ached for James and Evie. I loved the heroine as much as the hero in this awe inspiring book.
This is a book very loaded with emotions, feelings. It made me feel so much throughout the whole story, from beginning to end and I loved it. It’s a wonderful book about love, loss, second chances and finding healing and acceptance, letting things be and moving on.
I cried soooo much while reading it. I guess I put myself in Evie’s place and how she must’ve felt after losing so much. She is so strong and resilient, a wonderful example. James is a complicated character, a rebel who is loyal, loving, and overall a good person full of guilt. He also has a hard edge, but underneath is suffering and doesn’t know how to cope with his feelings. I also love the fact The Harringtons we’ve met previously are part of the story because they are a wonderful loving family who take care of each other and once you are a part of it, you’re in it for life.
