First in the new Silver Valley series from the New York Times bestselling author of the Reapers Motorcycle Club Novels Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward–full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca … That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.
Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from… But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can’t ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her–the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.
Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants…

The book starts out like a typical biker story. But it quickly changes and your blown away about how terrible some people can be to their own kids. Loved the characters and how they evolve throughout the story. The love story it realistic and not rushed. The twists in the story kept me reading until i finished the book in one day!
The story is powerful, I like how it was presented. Good job writer! If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on N0velStar, just submit your story to [email protected] or [email protected]
A raw, dark, and gritty ride to go on with Puck and Becca. This story started off with a bang and the momentum did not stop, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I enjoyed every single moment of this intense story.
Puck and Becca story soars from page one. He is fresh out of prison and gets in trouble all because of a woman. Puck is about to be patched into the Silver Bastards when he saves Becca and now it is five years later she seeks out Puck’s help again. She is an adult this time around and Puck has a hard time turning away from her. Will this second time be the charm that gets a happily ever after between the two?
A little darker, but another good book in the series. Loved them at the ending. Tough bikers in love.
After the hotness that was Picnic and the disturbing unexpectedness of him hooking up with the stupidest-heroine-of-all-time, aka London, I went in with no expectations for this book. I think that was what allowed me to enjoy Silver Bastard.
Let’s start from the beginning. The start of this story was pretty hard, if Ms. Wylde was hoping to start with a bang, she certainly succeeded. Becca had a very difficult early life, as her mother was a complete egotistical shithead that had no regard whatsoever for her daughter’s wellbeing.
Puck, in his own darker version of the white knight, takes her out of her living situation and puts her out of reach of her mother and stepfather’s evil clutches. After years of looking at each other from afar, Puck and Becca finally get together… I mean, they start the process of being together because there is a lot, and I do mean A LOT of back and forth. At some point, I just wanted to hit them both in the heads so they would get it on already.
Still, I understood where Becca was coming from, her mother was just too unbelievable. And I do mean too unbelievable. Maybe it’s because I had a good mom and my friends are all in the same category, but I can’t wrap my head around all the shit that woman did.
I found Becca’s inner monologues pretty funny, and Puck had his moments too. The book was engaging and I read it fairly quickly. I think we had quite a peek into Painter’s future story (that actually threw me a bit) and I would have hoped to see a bit more of the Reapers, because, you know, Horse = yummy.
While I didn’t find Becca’s TSTL moments as cringe-worthy as London’s (which if she’s not the most TSTL heroine ever, she’s at least in the Top 5) and I could concede to the fact that she is only 21, it still made me wanna slap the crap out of her. Woman, if you have a hot badass biker dude as your boyfriend/hookup/oldman/whatever-you-wanna-call-it, you always go to him first, and if he blows you off, then you can go off half-cocked into the sunset.
Still, I enjoyed the book and mostly managed to ignore the things that bothered me. I did feel it was a bit slow until the action picked up. And the whole 20-year-old mini-mafia lords was kind of out there to me.
I absolutely LOVED the epilogue, it almost made up for everything I didn’t quite like in the book. But the second epilogue kicked my book high on the head and left me with a very unsatisfied feeling. I wouldn’t have minded reading that scene, say, in a FB post or on her page, but after that awesome epilogue… it was just… *shakes head sadly*
Will I read the next book from Joanna Wylde? Most definitely. I just hope her next heroine has more of a cool head on her shoulders, and that they stop with the whole “people over 30 are old” crap. It gets old real fast.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
“What about us?” he asked, his tone touched with humor. “I just drove across the country to commit murder for you. Earlier today I helped burn a couple bodies to cover your tracks. That implies a certain level of commitment on my part, don’t you think?”
Ah, young love.
The just released from prison Puck wants to do one thing when he gets out of prison, and it’s not take a breath of clear air. His sex toy, Becca the heroine, is supplied by her nasty stepfather and, yuck, is barely 16 and has been pimped out for years already. Double yuck.
Once Puck finds out the situation he rescues her on his motorcycle like a knight in shining armor. No, not really. He does rescue her on his Harley, but he’s no knight.
The story pops five years, and the push/pull dynamic starts up. He’s dark and nasty; she’s damaged and warped. We have the essential scene where the h sees the H being orally serviced that most MC books can’t do without. I persevered but am not sure why. Joanna Wydle is very hit and miss with me and this was a big miss.
Hoping to get more backstory on the H and h from Charming Bastard only to be disappointed. At least I had minor characters Danielle and Blake to liven the story up.
Too much push and pull, too dark and too long. Where Charming Bastard was way too short, this just went on and on.
Puck is going to be a GREAT dad.
“Fuck. You better be a boy, you little shit.”
Becca is going to be a GREAT mom.
“If the kid is still alive at the end of the day, you win.”
It’s romance, it’s suspense, there’s a strong heroine and a take no sh*t off of anyone alpha. What more could you ask for? Yes, Puck can be a bit of a prick but it fits his character, come on now you are reading about an MC. I could not imagine him being soft and sweet. It brought more grit, more of that MC assholeness (yeah, I don’t know if that is an actual word) that you expect to the story. Becca has a rough start in life and when I say rough I mean ROUGH. You will wanna kill her mother for Becca by the end of the book. But Puck pulls her out of that life, see there is a little something or another under that hard shell. Love when those hard shells crack a little, swoon! Strong, determined, independent Becca is putting herself through school while working at night. Building a life on her own, looking forward to the future. Puck and Becca have a strong connection neither of them knows how to handle or what to do about it. Well, Puck knows what he wants to do about it but Becca is not ready to give up the reigns that easily. This book is sexy, hot, wild ride. I have read several of Joanne Wylde’s books and this one is right up with the others. Love this book, Love Joanne Wylde.
When his woman is to nervous to do something Puck has no problems helping her out, “you wanted to touch me,” he replied. “But you’re too scared.” My hand found the hard ridge of his erection against the worn fabric of his jeans.” Puck he doesn’t mince words, “so,” Puck continued, his tone so intense it scared me. “I think it’s time we cleared this s*** up. I like your hand on my d***. I’d like your mouth on it better. I want your c***, your a**- everything. No more games, Becca. you know who and what I am and you know that when I eff you, it won’t be pretty. I don’t do pretty. I’ve held off because of what happened and I felt guilty but that s*** is in the past. I’m done. You got thirty seconds to say no, then I’m taking you upstairs and all bets are off.” Puck he likes his girl’s baking, “I’ll take the sex,” he said. “But I gotta admit, I’m disappointed about the pie.” Sometimes Puck is confused by his girl, like most men who don’t understand women, “okay, the fact that me effing you isn’t scary is great. Having said that, my d***’s still stickin’ out and I’m starting to wonder if I should put it away.” As usual another book I loved but Joanna and I can’t wait for more.
Before I start my review I want to say that I liked the book. I enjoy this authors writing style and that was no exception with Silver Bastard which starts off a new series..
After I finish a book I like to go and look at other reviews and one thing mentioned a lot is this book/series its centered around a town and not the MC life. Where I can see that some of the future books are going to be more about the Irish mob the core is still the MC life and how that affects the people in the town this series is about. Becca Jones the heroine of this book has always lived the MC life – the very ugly side of it. Her mom going from group to group until finally marrying a man in a not so good MC that resulted in her getting pimped out and raped at an early age until 16 when she is “given” to Puck Redhouse as a reward for him just getting out of jail and becoming a full fledge member of the Silver Bastards. Puck had no idea Becca was 16 nor that she had to perform at her stepfathers wishes. When Puck realizes what has really happened he takes Becca away from there and back to Idaho and puts her in the town of Silver Valley. During the next 5 years she is taken in by a couple who helps her try and get over her past and makes sure she finishes school. Puck doesn’t really have any involvement in her life but he’s always kept tabs on her.
Once the book jumps 5 years later and Becca is 21 and she is trying to make something of herself but is still haunted by her past and the occasional phone call from her mother still begging her for money along with trying to guilt her by saying she is being abused. Puck also decides now that Becca is of age he is tired of fighting the attraction he felt when he first met her even though he still feels the guilt for not knowing her age and circumstances. These two are like oil and water and rarely go 5 mins without fighting but underneath they care too much about the other..
As it’s the start of a new series we met some new characters along with a few old ones from previous series. The Silver Bastard’s MC is the protection of the small mining town and there are some shady characters trying to make some big changes that makes it to where the MC has to get involved.
This is not a hearts and flowers romance – its still deals with some dark issues but that’s what I like to read and I loved this start to a new series and am looking forward to more..
This one was a bit unique from all the others in the series. It was emotional & so engaging. You had to fall in love with Puck. It definitely was not a disappointment.
