After three bodies surface in the Hudson River in three weeks’ time, Oriscoe and Nogan catch the case.
Nothing seems to connect the three men until the detectives discover they all used Sinder, the online dating app. Their digital footprints reveal a common thread–a penchant for supernatural women.
The catch is, Lucifer owns Sinder. It runs on a proprietary mix of devilry and technology, and … devilry and technology, and the Dark Lord wants to keep his secrets, even if it is his favorite niece asking.
But there’s a seal-bridezilla swiping her suitors right…into the Hudson.
When Dru and the devil lock horns, will it fall to Leery to run down her Silkie Stalkings?
Critical Acclaim for CLAW & WARDER:
★★★★★ “[T]he ‘other world’ is swarming with their own problems to keep their side under control in New York. I’m no stranger to Erik Henry Vick’s universe as I’m a fan of The Bloodletter Saga. Vick’s intriguing, ghoulish, fast-paced plot and solid characterization are as entertaining as I expected. There are ample thrills, chills, and fun to satisfy readers’ appetites. The dialogue and prose generate the entertaining moments and the degree of tension best suited to launch the next twist…yet more proof of Erik Henry Vick’s storytelling expertise in the supernatural world.”–Lit Amri, Readers’ Favorite Reviews
★★★★★ “I enjoyed the amalgamation of so many types of supernaturals… The banter between the characters was brilliantly executed, portraying different levels of complex relationships. Sometimes I couldn’t help but grin at a well-spun conversation, let alone how the creatures’ unique traits or weaknesses are evoked to further the investigation. I enjoyed the third-person narrative and how the high-pressure roles were portrayed… The characters were brilliantly portrayed.“-K.J. Simmill, Readers’ Favorite Reviews
★★★★★ “The idea that there are two simultaneous types of society working side-by-side was a fascinating premise… The characters are fully overdrawn, as is the nature in this genre, and author Erik Henry Vick has done a fantastic job of giving them real and recognizable emotions and foibles that endear them to the reader… The writing style is flowing and easy to read. If urban fantasy is your thing, this is a book you must read but even if it’s not, this is a book you should read. I did and I’m glad of it – an excellent read.”–Grant Leishmanl, Readers’ Favorite Reviews

Need a date? Just swipe right on Sinder! Uncle Lucy created the app for supernatural dating on the go. But when human men die, how is the app tied into it? It all seems a little bit fishy….
Love that we get to see more of Dru’s extended family. They have personalities all of their own!
The Locus of NY has its hands full on this one!
I have absolutely adored this series. Getting to know the characters and going farther into their world has been an absolute treat. If you like crime fiction mixed with an amazing supernatural twist this is an absolute must read series!!
This episode of “Claw and Warder – Silkie Stalkings” I didn’t want to end!
So much drama! So much action! Not to mention meeting “Old Scratch” himself!
This was the quickest I’ve read any book, and from me that is high praise. Erik Henry Vick is hitting his stride with this series, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Silkie Stalkings, episode 4 of Erik Henry Vick’s Claw & Warder series, takes things to a whole new realm. Literally. Things heat up when it becomes evident that all three victims have one thing in common, Lucifer’s app Sinder. Only problem is Lucifer takes privacy very seriously, even when his favorite niece is asking nicely.
The storyline continues to be fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic, intrigue, danger, and family dynamics. The characters are well developed, a wonderful combination of beloved old friends and quirky new arrivals. This book was a pleasure to read and I look forward to more episodes!
claw & warder is mostly about leery & dru, but also angie and sam. it’s fun supernatural character cops & robbers and prosecutors. no csi, but a lot of blue bloods. good clean fun and exciting drama, all tongue in cheek, but with a story to tell. read it, you’ll like it
I’ve reviewed many of Vicks’ books, comparing him favorably to Sai King, praising his world building, imagination, story, character development and dialog. I don’t bother with synopses (I assume that’s the plural form of synopsis), because the publisher and other reviewers provide them far better than I could.
I want to share details of why I love his books. I will reveal that in Episode 4, we learn LOTS more about Drusilla bat Agrat bat Mahlat’s family, that it turns out the Prince of Lies *can* misinterpret the details of what is essentially a contract, and that apart from Dru, nobody seems to like Leery. Oh, and coffee.
This time I want to focus on the beauty of his writing and his humor.
First, some lines of his killer writing:
“…something bobbed to the surface near the shore of the Hudson, *disrupting the moon’s scintillating love affair with the waves*…”
“The overcast sky turned the arid greens to shades of *blood spilled at midnight*”
“The dark sky turned all the palaces into *black velvet trolls hunched atop the crags*”
I mean, who WRITES like that?
Now, some funny:
There’s Lt. Epatha Van Helsing’s mollywobbling speech…
“What am I to do in the meantime? Sit and stare at me daddles? This is a fifteen puzzle, and I’m badgered by it. Honestly, it’s like a belly-go-fister.”
And
Leery: “Who? You mean Dru? She’ll be along.”
The Lieu: “I’d think she’d be first out to this *nanty narking, what with all her enthuzinuzzy*.”
“Uh. Yeah. That part Karma ripped from you hasn’t found its way back yet, eh?”
“Why would you say that? And *mind your sauce-box. I’m still your lieutenant, no matter what that skilamalink hedge bird did to me.”*
Then there’s courtroom scenes like this:
Angie stood and turned toward Lucifer. *She paused a moment to genuflect, then smiled. “I’m sorry, Your Honor, but His Majesty’s interpretation of the covenant is in error.”*
Wow! Lucifer has misread “fine details” in a Covenant? I’d always heard he was pretty good with contracts. Go figure.
So there it is. A completely absorbing world, peopled with living, breathing characters embedded in an imaginative yet consistent story, with beautifully-honed writing and funny enough to make coffee come out of your nose.
Oh, and more coffee.
