Matt Dorning likes his life just the way it is. Escorting provides him with enough money to live in his favorite city, New York, and he’s been doing it long enough that he knows the rules: don’t give it away when there’s always someone who’ll pay for it; always leave them wanting more; and never, never lose your heart to a client.Lucas Sawyer is about to challenge all Matt’s rules. He’s a … He’s a beautiful man who shouldn’t need to pay for sex, and yet Matt knows he’s the latest hooker in a long line. Lucas lives a life Matt can only dream of, but it doesn’t appear to make him happy: there’s something going on beneath that poised, self-assured exterior. And Matt also knows that his time with Lucas won’t last forever – escorts have a certain shelf life where he’s concerned.
So what happens when the man who doesn’t ‘do’ relationships, starts to question his life? Lucas is about to embark on a journey of self discovery…and Matt’s life is about to get messy…

Although this is part of the Material World series, it is a stand alone novella. Expect sex, silk, and sensuality.

Fantastic story and oh, so hot!
It’s no secret that John Solo is one of my favorite audiobook performers. He doesn’t just narrate a book, he performs it. I loved all of the emotions he showed while reading this story. K.C. Wells writes wonderful books and they run the gamut from sort of sweet to super-hot. Silk is definitely on the hot end of the spectrum.
The story engaged me right from the beginning and didn’t let me go. I could listen to John Solo’s voice all day long and not get tired of it. I could also read K.C. Wells stories all day long and never get tired of them. Combining K.C.’s writing and John’s fantastic voice is one of my favorite things.
Lucas is a wealthy man who hires escorts for sex but the encounters leave him feeling like something is missing. He never uses the same escort more than once – that is until he hires Matt. Matt has multiple jobs, being an escort is just one of them. He also works in his family’s restaurant – his father is grooming him to take over one day – and he also models men’s underwear.
As soon as they meet, Lucas knows that Matt is different but he doesn’t see him again right away. Matt knew that Lucas was a one-shot deal when they met up so he was shocked to get another call from him. I really liked these two guys together; their chemistry was great and John Solo’s voice really brought that out.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. K.C. Wells’ words and John Solo’s voice guarantee a fantastic listening experience every single time.

K.C. Wells’ A Material World series continues with Silk. Beautifully performed by John Solo, Silk is one smoking hot, deliciously erotic treat! Filled with rich, fully developed characters who all have interesting stories to tell, both men have families which feature prominently in the storyline. Humor, family drama, and a nice dose of hurt/comfort, this May/December romance is capped off with a very satisfying happily ever after for the main characters.
Yes Matt’s an escort, and Lucas is his wealthy (and gorgeous) client, but if you’re thinking ‘Pretty Woman’ stop right there, because that’s as close as it gets. K.C. Wells flips the script and has the young guy asking the older gent to be his plus one. A genuine friendship forms as the men get to know each other, and the relationship evolves seamlessly.
K.C. Wells writes spectacular erotica, and she’s at the top of her game here. Uninhibited and self confident, Lucas has no qualms asking for what he wants from his escorts. And Matt delights in satisfying his clients’ every desire. The scenes between these two are simply scorching.
John Solo and K.C. Wells are a match made in heaven, and I love hearing him narrate her novels. It’s clear how much fun he has with the humor Ms. Wells builds into the story. His “grandma voice” is fantastic, and had me in stitches. A truly perfect audiobook.
Silk Sheets and Warm Hearts (an audio review)
Matt loves his life. He models underwear, he helps run his family restaurant, and he’s an escort. There are johns who are rough, tough, and only in it for a quick trick, but there are just as many who are doing it to battle loneliness or because they can’t come out at home. There was one poignant scene in the book where everything came into focus as to why Matt enjoys what he does.
Oh, and there’s the man who just wants cuddles. As someone who is alone, I can relate to wanting that physical contact. Another one of Matt’s clients whose story impacted me.
Then there’s Lucas. He has his reasons for keeping others at arm’s length. He also has a reputation in the escort world – silk sheets and no repeats. He hires Matt for the night, but something about the young man sticks in his mind. He breaks his rule, and calls Matt back for a second night. He later opens up about his life and Matt offers to help. Imagine that – the escort helping the Park Avenue billionaire.
But it works. Matt does help Lucas, and Lucas does begin to change. And there are changes in Matt’s life too. That side gig he loved so much? Suddenly being with other men doesn’t feel right. And there’s stuff going on with his family as well that forces him to step back and decide what he really wants.
Doesn’t mean the men have an easy road. No, there are bumps along the way. More true to life, I suspect.
I’ve read the first and third books in this series and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I plan to go back and pick up the second. The only connection is the fabric, so if you head straight for this one, you’ll be just fine. And because it’s set in New York, Ms. Wells has turned to one of her favorite American narrators. John Solo always does justice to Ms. Wells’ words and this is another successful collaboration.
Silk is the third book in the “A Material World” series, but it stands on its own. No knowledge of the other books in the series are needed to fully enjoy this one. And this book is extremely enjoyable. K.C. Wells used the well-loved tropes of age-gap, sugar-daddy, and opposites attract, and infused them with her own brand of uniqueness. This made the book such a delight to read.
The main characters were such interesting and dynamic characters. Matt is a young man who’s working at his family restaurant and escorts on the side as a both a hobby and a way to make extra money. Matt has no tragic backstory, but genuinely enjoys life even though he keeps love and relationships at an arm’s length. Meeting Lucas, another man who shies away from relationships, completely changes Matt’s life. Lucas was not expecting to be captivated by Matt, but the connection he feels with the other man was instantaneous and magnetic. Together, both men will have to work together to overcome. I adored the relationship between Matt and Lucas – it was feisty, powerful, and so hot and sexy, but overall, it was extremely loving.
The audiobook was narrated by John Solo who did a fantastic job. John narrated each character perfectly with a very energetic and delightful performance. The audiobook production was also well done and it made for really enjoyable listening experience.
Fabulous Story & Narration A Steamy Delight!
Silk
A Material World, Book 3
By: K.C. Wells
Narrated by: John Solo
I am loving this series, each book is a standalone featuring different characters and storylines, the common theme in this series is the material as titled. K.C. Wells is a gifted author, she has a wonderful writing style and ability to create heartfelt stories that are captivating from start to end. Her characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. This book, “Silk”, is Matt Dorning and Lucas Sawyer’s story, it is set mostly in NYC. Matt works in the family restaurant with plans of taking it over one day, he also has a couple of side jobs, an underwear model and a male escort. Lucas is a successful businessman, he lives on Park Avenue in a luxurious apartment but he lacks social skills and confidence to socialize, so he resorts to escorts to fill his needs, rarely using the same on more than once. But there is something about Matt that has him wanting more. I adored these two, I thought they were great together and for each other, it was awesome how Matt was able to bring Lucas out of his shell. And the chemistry between these two was smoking hot. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some laughs and lots of hot loving. K.C. Wells thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
And for the wonderful narration, John Solo is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. He did an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. I loved how well he grasps his character’s persona, makes them believable and sounding just as I picture them to sound. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen
This book was amazing. Totally surprised me how much I loved it. I don’t tend to enjoy books with escorts much but this is a K.C. Wells book and from the Material World collection so I had to read it. I’m so glad I did. And I have to say it. I love Grandma.
I’m reviewing the audio edition. I really enjoyed this story and these characters. Maybe it’s because I enjoy sassiness. Matt has plenty of confidence and a touch of sass. Lucas is good at business but a little more reserved when it comes to his personal life. I enjoyed reading about Matt perfectly comfortable with who he is and what he does for the most part. I really enjoyed Lucas’s grandmother Diane. The story moves right along and the characters are well developed. The situations are so well described that I could easily picture each. The narration by John Solo was perfect for this story and these characters. I was given a copy from GRR and this is my opinion.
Silk by K.C. Wells Narrated by John Solo was given to me in exchange for an honest review. It all began with an escort, a CEO and blue silk sheets. Lucas, a CEO and living the good life, pays escorts so he has control over his life and no worries about his social anxiety. But that changes when he meets Matt, who only escorts to pass the time and gives him an extra boost in his income until he takes over the family restaurant. Matt had heard about Mr blue silk sheets before he was scheduled that he was usually a one and done sometimes twice then done. Imagine Lucas’ surprise that the strong connection he felt for Matt makes him look at his life and realize he was not as happy as he once thought. I really enjoyed this story because it shows you never know when love will reach up and slap you silly or grandma slapping you silly as the case may be. John Solo narrated this story wonderfully. This story was sweet, the characters were great, with each having to add the word compromise to their vocabulary. Trill was just one of those stories when you need comfort and happiness this is the story to go to get what you need.
Unexpected
This is one of the few books of K.C. Wells I didn’t read before listening to the audio…and it really surprised me
I love the “opposites attract” trope… so a young escort who had his future already planned and a mature client who was a successful entrepreneur but still didn’t get himself figured out… was right up my alley
Loved the story, the narration by John Solo as always only added to it …and the action amongst the blue silk sheets was
I was given a free audio copy from the author and the GRR arc team for review.
I enjoyed the first book Lace (3.5 stars) but this one was way better. I haven’t read 2 or 4 yet.
This is book 3 but can be read as a standalone. None of the characters from the previous books are mentioned and the storyline is completely different in each book. The only thing that are the same are the the similar titles having to do with fabrics that feature in each book.
Age gap
Rent boy/client
Opposites attract
Lucas is a rich business man and hires escorts routinely but never the same one twice. Preferring not to get close to anyone and it’s never been a problem until Matt. Matt manages to get under Lucas’s skin and push his boundaries like no other and keeps him coming back for more.
Matt is a part time underwear model and part time escort and also works at his family’s restaurant which he will one day soon inherit. His family is not aware of his extra careers. He’s never had a problem with keeping things with his clients strictly business and doesn’t date. Stating he won’t give it away for free if someone will pay for it. So he never expects that his business life and personal life will mix.
This was a great sweet, fun, humorous and sexy read. It was very well written. The plot was interesting the whole way through and I didn’t want to put it down. The 2 main characters had great chemistry and were each very loveable in their own right. I also very much loved Lucas’s Grandma and absolutely adored Matt’s friend Trey who was hilarious and fun. I very much hope he gets a book. I absolutely would recommend this book and i absolutely will be reading more from this author.
John Solo did a good job narrating (4 stars). He’s not one of my favorites but he’s definitely a popular choice and I enjoyed it. He definitely puts his all into his performances and brings the story to life but a lot of times the 2 main characters voices were very similar. He was great with the older fathers voice and the female voices though.
Soo HOT….
Matt is an Escort, Male underwear Model and helps run his family restaurant. The first two professions are a closely guarded secret, especially amongst his family.
Luca was a self made millionaire, but doesn’t have room in his life for a relationship, so he hires an escort when the needs arise. He’s well known amongst the escorts (Hookers) that its normally a one and done, some have been lucky enough to lie between those silk sheets for a second time, but its not often and much spoke about.
This is a great book full of hot sex, silk, money and don’t forget HOT sex. Seriously its a great book and good story, well worth the read.

K.C. Wells knows how to keep her readers revited and have them asking for more and this book was no exception.
John Solo gives the characters a voice and brings out the emotions, the feelings like nobody business… Excellent job sir.
Matt works at his family restaurants and one day hopes to be running it, he is also an underwear model. He also works at an escort service, not because he needs the money, but because he just love sex. Matt has an upbeat personality that draws people to him.
Lucas is a Business Executive who have social anxiety. He prefers to communicate with people via phone, emails, texts or any other means that doesn’t require him to have face to face meetings.
One of Matt’s colleagues told up about a customer who has blue silk sheets and lives on Park Ave. It is said that he hires escorts and rarely calls them back after the first or second visits….. Then Matt got the text from Mr. Park Ave.
For Lucas, Matt wasn’t at all what he expected, he was different from all the escorts he hired previously. As the days go by he wanted to see more of Matt and gradually things progress, including feelings.
To not give more away I’ll conclude my reviews here. Heads up Grandma Diane is a hoot, you’ll love her.
This book is an Age-Gap, Feel-Good Romance with an HEA…. Happy reading, Happy listening.
