Book 2 in the series. Though this is the story of Myra and Todd, and their HEA is in this book, I believe that this series is better read in order due to the underlying suspense story that runs through the series. This is written in third person from multiple POV.
Todd is a modern day cop with a heart of gold. Though he doesn’t trust Myra in the beginning, he feels a deep need to protect her and watch over her. He is a modern knight, and the chemistry between him and Myra is hot. Myra is sent from 1576 to present to protect her from the witch Grainna. Her reactions to the modern world are very enjoyable. There are moments of humor, steam, and suspense throughout the book. There is action as the MacCoinnich family fights the evil. There is a lot of Druid magical elements at play.
Overall, I loved this one. I loved Todd coming to terms with his feelings for Myra. I appreciated the trust and love Myra has for Todd and I really enjoyed their chemistry. I also loved the relationship that Todd builds with Myra’s father and brothers as they fight on the same side of their cause.
I loved this book more than the first book. This is Myra story. She is sent to the future escape Gianna (Gwen) the evil witch who planned to kill her.
There she is brought to a hospital as a Jane Doe. Officer Todd Blakely is one of the officers sent to question her. He is very interested in her and wonders about her story. Myra leaves the hospital. And tries to find a place to stay but runs into trouble. Todd rescues her just in time. He takes her to his home. There they get closer and learns more about her and her fruit abilities. Time travel books are so much fun! I won’t say more. Must read.
Despite my rather hesitant approach to book 1, I found myself quite enjoying book 2 and Myra and Todd’s story.
With witch Grainna still determined to break the curse placed on her by the ancient druids and in need of a virgin in order to regain her youth etc, the MacCoinnich’s know that they must keep Myra safe. With only one option open to her, the family prepare Myra to travel to the present day with instructions to meet up with Tara’s sister and nephew. With a plan to fake amnesia, Myra is questioned by the police following her mysterious appearance and that’s when Officer Todd Blakely’s life steps into preternatural realms as he becomes close to Myra and finds a need to protect her.
Todd and Myra soon fall for each other and with love comes trust and slowly Myra reveals her story to Todd. Todd, understandably, finds Myra’ story impossible to believe but as he continues to investigate the disappearance of Tara and Gwen (as she is known in the present day), he comes to realise that Myra’s story is true, if still unbelievable.
When Myra returns home Todd is devastated but her return is not the end of the story or their romance. With Grainna still on a mission to return to Rennaisance Scotland, Todd finds himself once again fighting to protect Myra and her family and this fight takes him to Scotland and once again into the arms of Myra.
I have come to love the characters in this series and I will definitely be reading on further in order to see what happens to the playboy brother, Finlay, and his explosive connection with Tara’s sister, Lizzie.
Loved this series!
