4.5 stars
Author Sharee Stover’s latest Love Inspired Suspense novel, Silent Night Suspect, will make the perfect stocking stuffer for the suspense readers on your list this holiday season. With intense action and death-defying suspense, Sharee Stover keeps readers guessing until the very end through this fascinating story of drug cartels, corruption, and rediscovering true love.
Asia Stratton, while still dealing with her estranged husband’s death, is suddenly the prime suspect in the murder of a powerful drug cartel leader. Her former high school sweetheart, Nebraska state trooper Slade Jackson, has always been known as a rule follower, but they must take extreme measures as his desire to prove Asia’s innocence puts both of their lives in danger.
This is my first book by Sharee Stover, but it won’t be my last! Sharee Stover shares the message that God is always there for us, even during our deepest struggles and the times when we carry our heaviest burdens. Silent Night Suspect leaves readers with hope through God’s endless grace and mercy.
The brief flashbacks of Asia’s past relationship with Slade make the romantic aspect of their storyline seem both realistic and believable, and I wish that more flashbacks of their shared history could have been included. Silent Night Suspect is a stand-alone novel, but I would love to see a story about Slade’s brother Trooper Trey Jackson in the future. Trey’s commitment and loyalty to his brother allow him to stand out as a secondary character in the novel, and it would be wonderful for Trey to get a chance to shine in his own story.
For readers who enjoy books by romantic suspense authors such as Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Irene Hannon, I recommend adding Silent Night Suspect to your list of books to read this holiday season.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Intriguing read with so many twists in the plot, you could never be bored! From waking up in a nightmare to finding true love, this story kept me entertained to the point that I couldn’t put it down.
Slade Jackson has 48 hours to determine if Asia Stratton, his former partner’s widow & a friend of his from childhood, killed the man that is a suspect for her husband’s murder. The evidence is stacked against her but Slade just can’t believe she did it.
But as the hours tick by someone tries to kill Asia more than once, which convinces Slade that she did not kill this person. However each time they move her ( for safety reasons) another attempt is made. They finally realize they have a leak in the department.
As they work to clear Asia’s name they both realize that they have fallen in love, can they both get over the past and let God heal their hearts?
Thank you to Sharee Stover for allowing me to participate. This was a wonderful story and had me hooked.
This book is full of action, drama, suspense and romance. It will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good, clean, edge of your seat read! I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I’m a little late to the party in getting this one read but it’s not one to miss so Christmas in July it is. This book captured me from the first sentence and made me want to keep turning pages until I reached the end. Ms. Stover’s expert authorship kept me guessing which were the bad guys and which were the good guys the whole way through. Asia was being framed for a murder she didn’t commit so that the cartel could get their hands on a card she didn’t know she had. Combine that with a police officer overcome by guilt over his partner’s (Asia’s husband) arrest and death a year ago and a romance between Slade and Asia that never made it past their high school years. Will they discover long buried feeling for each other as they bubble to the surface in these suspenseful days or have too many hard feelings closed doors forever? Slade and Asia are in for the fight of their lives. Ride along with them and find out what happens….
(Thank you to the author and publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own!)
Silent Night Suspect by Sharee Stover
This was my first read from Sharee Stover and it did not disappoint! From the opening scene to the closing of the book, my attention was locked!
Asia Stratton was framed for a murder that she did not commit. But had no memory of the events leading up to it. But when her former high school boyfriend, Jackson Slade, teams up with her to help clear her name, a bunch of crazy stuff happens along the way. My favorite part of this whole story was how they teamed up together to figure out the clues and how Asia’s trust in Jackson is slowly built back up.
This was a really good book and I definitely recommend it!!
Will he believe her? Can she trust him?
I’m always up for trying new Love Inspired Suspense authors and I don’t think that I’ve read a single LIS book that I truly disliked. Enter in Sharee Stover last year with her first book. I enjoyed that book so I knew I would like Silent Night Suspect. And I was right! To be honest, I liked this book even better.
While I’m not a fan of amnesia tropes, I liked how the cause of Asia’s amnesia was not the usual same ol’, same ol’. Speaking of Asia, can I just say how much I love her name? There are so many Taylors, Autumns, Sarahs, and Rachels out there that it’s nice to see a name I’ve never spotted in a book before. Anyway, back to what I was saying. While the amnesia theme has, at times, been overused, I felt that Sharee Stover managed to keep it from being a stale trope in Silent Night Suspect.
Silent Night Suspect is a tense tale of danger, intrigue, betrayal, romance, faith, and forgiveness. I very much enjoyed the story and read it fairly quickly. Sharee Stover is fast becoming a seasoned author, which shows in this book, and I know that I will continue to look for, and enjoy, each new release.
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Silent Night Suspect is a well-written Love Inspired Suspense book by Sharee Stover.
This story has one of my favorite tropes: old friends to current loves. Not only were Slade Jackson and Asia Stratton childhood friends, they were high school sweethearts.
The story starts out with an impossible situation. “Asia Stratton’s gaze remained transfixed on the lifeless eyes staring back st her.” That grabbed my attention! Asia awakens to find herself facing a dead man and she is holding a gun. Her old friend, state trooper Slade Jackson is shouting at her to drop the gun! Who can she trust? She feels as if God has abandoned her. There are many twists, turns and high octane excitement to follow. Several people are after her and an object she is supposed to have. Will the clues fall in place or do they become more complicated?
If you like riveting Christian Romantic Suspense that is out of the ordinary, then this is the story for you.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
Silent Night Suspect was an exciting, fast paced, race to the end read! I loved it!
This book is an entertaining and well written romantic suspense. A real page turning plot and well crafted characters. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance book from the author. This is my unbiased review.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first received Sharee Stover’s, Silent Night Suspect but was definitely pleasantly surprised by how I was drawn in when I first began reading.
Right from the start, I was definitely intrigued and interested. I’m a big suspense fan and author Sharee Stover did a wonderful job of keeping the storyline moving with a lot of action and unexpected twists.
Asia Stratton is a widow in her thirties because of her unfaithful, drug addicted husband, Zander. Zander was also partners with Slade Jackson. It is Slade who discovers Asia covered in bloody clothes and with a gun in her hand. There also happens to be a dead body directly in front of her. Although Asia denies any wrong doing, there’s a problem because Asia cannot remember how she even got there. Asia has no memory of what happened. Things look very bad for her.
Slade Jackson is a Nebraska State Trooper and his connection with Asia is complicated. We soon learn that Slade and Asia are childhood friends, but trust has been broken between them. Unfortunately, Asia doesn’t have any one else she can turn to to figure out what really happened.
Of course, this story would not be complete with a little romance thrown in…and it Sharee keeps us guessing as Asia and Slade must quickly determine what happened and why. They don’t have much time so the story is face paced and often kept me guessing as to what would happen next. Silent Night Suspect was a wonderful book and I’m looking forward to more books from Sharee.
I really enjoyed Silent Night Suspect! The characters are well-developed and face real life struggles. The suspense is captivating with twists and turns making the book very hard to put down.
I received a copy of this book for free from the author but was not required to review it. All opinions are my own. I highly recommend this exciting story!
Asia wakes up to a nightmare. A crime she knows she couldn’t have committed. All She wants for Christmas is to remember…. and to make matters more difficult, Asia is forced to rely on her ex-sweetheart, State Trooper Slade Jackson, to try and help clear her name. Sharee’s book lives up to its genre and more, as it was a fascinating and suspenseful read! Silent Night Suspect has a story line that sucks you in and makes you feel part of the story. The story-line covers real-life topics like facing hardships, forgiveness, love, and faith. Sharee’s writing of this story makes it incredibly realistic and keeps you entertained with every paragraph!
My husband even enjoyed reading this after I was finished. His words: Awesome book!! I liked all the twists and turns it took.
120% Recommend!
Wow! This amazing book by Sharee Stover is full of non-stop action. There is absolutely no place to take a breath until the end of the story. There are so many twists and turns in this one that it’s hard to figure out the difference between the good guys/bad guys at almost any point.
The main characters of Asia and Slade carry this story very well. Their relationship is a complex one and at times they seem at odds with each other. That adds tension to an already tense story. I’ve been an NCIS fan for many years, so when I say this is an NCIS-worthy storyline, it’s a compliment. This author is now on my list of must-read suspense writers.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
What an exciting and captivating tale awaits readers in this book!
The action and adventure begin right from the first page and don’t let up until the conclusion! The main female character is Asia Stratton, a widow without a penny to her name, and her reputation is shattered too. When Asia is located, she is injured, has a gun in her hand and a dead man at her feet. What else could go wrong? Oh, just a police officer finding her in a very implicating place and situation, and it isn’t just any officer either. Asia’s history is about to meet her face to face!
Throughout the pages, Asia and her bodyguard Slade Jackson are constantly being hunted and they never seem to get ahead of the pursuers. How do the nefarious criminals always seem to be a step ahead of them and know things only a few trusted people are told? On top of this, Asia cannot figure out whether Zander was telling her the truth when she last saw him or setting her up.
I couldn’t put this exciting story down! I was constantly caught up in the action, danger, mystery and intrigue. The author does a very good job of not revealing too much information about who the bad people are or their plans so as not to ruin the story. In fact, it wasn’t till near the end that those responsible for Asia, Zander and Slade’s injuries are revealed as well as their motive.
The novel is a great and quick read. I hope the audience will grab a copy to enjoy and with the holidays right around the corner, maybe wrap a couple to give as gifts! Don’t miss the excitement in the pages of Silent Night Suspect!
This an exciting ride (literally!) trying to figure out who is trying to frame Asia and what exactly her deceased husband was up to. The mystery kept me guessing and the bad guys were a bit surprising. I had a bit of trouble with Asia, her anger at Slade seemed a little misplaced given the fact that her husband was not husband of the year material(or even close). I would have also liked a little more of the backstory of how Asia ended up with Zander over Slade. This was an interesting story and I really liked the Christmas setting/timing of the story. All in all, the story held my attention and was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to Sharee’s next story, I would love to see Trey get his own book!
I received this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I love reading Love Inspired Suspense books by Harlequin, and I especially love holiday books! I really enjoyed reading this story and read it in one day because I didn’t want to stop reading. I highly recommend if you like great characters with lots of action and suspense!
I enjoyed reading about Asia and her old friend Slade as they work together to try and prove her innocence. I liked that Asia didn’t allow her bad marriage to Zander to define her future and her will to fight. She was a kind, strong, smart woman. I also liked Slade’s brother Trey and his dog Magnum-I hope they get their own story.
Don’t start reading this book if you have things to do-you won’t want to put it down! I loved it! I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Action packed!
This is a perfect holiday mystery read. The characters are great and I really enjoyed the storyline. There are enough plot twists to keep you guessing to the very end. The author does a great job at keeping the right balance of action, suspense and romance.
This is Sharee Stover’s second book, and she has quickly become an author to add to the must read list. This story would make a great Christmas gift for all book lovers.
‘Asia Stratton’s gaze remained transfixed on the lifeless eyes staring back at her.’ (p. 1)
When these are the first words that you read in a book, you can be fairly certain that you’re in for a wild ride and that’s exactly what Silent Night Suspect delivers. Drug cartels; car chases; being accused of a crime that you know you couldn’t have committed but unable to remember the past few days; and being dependent on the man that you once loved. How much more can a girl endure? Well, apparently a whole lot more because Asia Stratton faces continued danger and uncertainty. I am usually pretty good at guessing the villian (villians) in suspense and mystery novels but Sharee Stover managed to surprise me! She threw in several unexpected twists and turns and just when I thought I had it figured out…I was proven wrong again.
Along with the excitement and hardships, we witness the re-connection between Asia and state trooper Slade Jackson as he assures her “You’re not alone in this. I’m all in, no matter what it takes. I’ll fight for you.” (p. 95) Sweet words to hear but can the past be forgotten and is forgiveness possible?
This book has romance, faith, and lots of suspense and I will definitely be reading more of Sharee Stover’s work!
I was given a copy of this book from the author and publisher but I wasn’t obligated to write a positive review. These are my honest opinions.
