This is my first read by the author and I didn’t know what to expect. I love mysteries and thrillers that keep you on your toes. The book had each of these. It was nice to have an ending that surprised you and wrapped everything together. The characters are well developed, likeable and true to life. But there was something missing for me. The story line was good but it dragged in parts and it was a book that I could put down not one that I didn’t want to stop reading. The story line about a small town with a few bodies coming up dead and the sheriffs being removed from the case does get your attention. Keegan and Bo go around sleuthing and find out who is the cause of the missing and dead people. I wasn’t totally thrilled with the book but I will read another one by the author.
As Keegan, the town sheriff, is asked to step away from a murder investigation, and Bo, his reporter girlfriend and her family and friends are entangled in it, both will work together to find the serial killer in this fast-paced novel. Silent Mountain will finally give up its secrets in a highly volatile ending. Good read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Moving back to Maplewood has not been easy for Bo and things are about to get worse when a body is discovered in Hogtown Lake by old timer Logan Zick. Teaming up with Keegan to investigate the mystery gives Bo the chance to develop their relationship but also gets him suspended from the police force. A story of mystery, intrigue, character assassinations and deeply held grudges which, after the first few chapters, grabs you and carries you along to the final showdown. I found the end a bit disappointing but this is just a personal view. It’s still an interesting and enjoyable book and well worth a read.
I received an ARC copy via Booksprout and am happy to give a review. In fact I’m about to read it again to see what I missed the first time around.
Bo, a reporter who also helped at her sister’s Inn was back in Maplewood located in the mountain’s of Arizona. She loved the cool summers, the hiking, fishing, family time but all that was about to be disturbed when a person from the Inn goes missing and a body is floating upside down in a lake. Thanks to a rekindling of a romance Bo Delaney and the town sheriff, Keegan Flanagan face to unravel the mystery.
This is a thrilling mystery filled with twist, turns and surprises. The characters are amazing, well defined and interesting. The narrative gives enough detail to envision the small town and serves to enhance the characters. The complex storylines is filled with suspense, mystery, romance and diligence. I think the strength of the book comes from the characters and the obstacles they go through to solve the mystery and make their mountainside home safe again. The emotional drama leads to a sense of empathy for those involved. It is a great thriller and I enjoyed the writing style of the author. Give it a read.
