And Annabel must come to grips with why she has been the target of such a malicious act while at the same time following her instincts about a man who betrayed her.
This is a convoluted tale of inconvenience and love. The story is one of secrets and love.

An intriguing start with the first few paragraphs had me totally enthralled. A mystery tied into a historical setting with a romance developing is one of my favorites and this accomplished those amazingly!
Annabel Lambert mainly lived with her Aunt Eleanor, although her parents where alive. Unfortunately her father had decided to marry her off to an old man so he could gain some funds. Of yes he was a devil. Aunt Eleanor was determined to see that not happen. Plus she had secrets of her own to keep tampered down.
But a plan was afoot that may cause everything to change. Lord Edward Wolcott, had gone from the highest as a Viscount to the bottom. He now lived in poverty and earned his money as a thief. Then a job falls in his lap that will pay enough to take him back to his life before. He is to kidnap one Annabel Lambert, at the request of a disguised man and hold her until the man obtains the ransom money he will demand.
Now the journey begins and what a twisting road it will be as Edward takes Annabel and they are thrown together.. What will happen? Will he harm her or come back to life when he is around sweet Annabel?

I loved this page turning, dark secrets, the mysteries of Scarlett Hall. The storyline was amazing, fulfilling, emotionally moving and ticked off every box in an adventure romance. This book had it all. The dichotomy between the benevolent, kind and loving characters versus the vicious and cruel characters were astounding. My heart went out to the h as she had lived a lifetime of pain and disappointment that created her lack of self-esteem. The one thing that impressed me was that regardless of how awful the circumstances were for the h, she stayed true to herself. She stayed the kind, loving, thoughtful, give others the benefit of the doubt and she was always willing to give those who were unworthy another chance to be redeemed. At the end when the truth came out the pain and joy of the h was realistic and easy to relate to. The H was an entirely different story. The shame he lived under lasted ten years. During those ten years after he lost everything and turned to unsavory acts to survive. That is how he met the h. He was on an assignment. When you find out who hired him you will be shocked but not so surprised. He made a promise to the h that led him back to where it all went wrong only to find out some incredible news. An astonishing story. You will be captivated and not bored. A must read. You will not be disappointed.

This was a wonderful, thrilling story with awesome characters and a strong story line. The reader is pulled right in as so many things are happening, tugging the story one direction, then another. Grab your copy and see how the events evolve and whether Annabel gets her perfect gentleman – even if he is a tiny bit tarnished!

Now this tale was really different and I great read Annabel is kidnapped by Edward. You may believe that Edward is the bad guy in this one but you may just find out you are wrong with that idea. It was rather sad when the truth finally came out. I enjoyed both the characters and the writing was outstanding. I found the book had to put down. The cover is lovely too very much an eye-catcher. I have no problem recommending this gem I know it is one that I will re-visit again. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
