In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son’s red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year – a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered.Ten years later, Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life. She’s married, pregnant, and in control … pregnant, and in control again…
… until Aiden returns.
Too traumatized to speak, he raises endless questions and answers none. Only his body tells the story of his decade-long disappearance. The historic broken bones and injuries cast a mere glimpse into the horrors Aiden has experienced. Aiden never drowned. Aiden was taken.
As Emma attempts to reconnect with her now teenage son, she must unmask the monster who took him away from her. But who, in their tiny village, could be capable of such a crime?
It’s Aiden who has the answers, but he cannot tell her the unspeakable.
This dark and disturbing psychological novel is a page-turner you will not be able to put down.

A story ANY mother can identify with……..Scary to think something like this is a possibility….
I found it held my attention for the first part of the book. I knew early on who was involved with the kidnapping. The ending got a little too soap opera – ish to me. Could have been a lot more cleverly done.
Keeps you reading. Hard to put down.
This book keeps you guessing as to what really happened.
It was so painful that I almost stopped reading it. I am glad that I did not.
Very much a mystery to the very end. It keeps you guessing.
Just when you think you have it figured out… Tragic story with a twist at the end.
Excellant book
I liked it. It kept my interest until the very end.
Couldn’t figure out how it would end.
Good story and believable characters. Hard to imagine the pain this woman endured when she lost her son. Then when she finds out he is alive, the heart ache continues. Don’t want to give anything further away but you will want to read this as it is hard to put down.
One of the best books I have ever read! I could not put it down!
Never quite knew where it was going and could not guess the outcome!
Very good book. Informative regarding child pedophilia. I recommend reading this.
Silent Child gave a new and different slant to the disappearing child story. I only gave it 4 stars, because I think it could have been developed a bit better. But, that’s only my opinion. It was worth reading, for another person might give it five stars.
I really enjoyed this book.
unmemorable
The book made me wish that they make a movie. Great plot. I wondered if it was based on a true story.
well written, sad , keep your interest to the very end
