“Way more intense than I was ready for. I couldn’t put this book down!” ★★★★★He claims he loves me. Strokes my cheek and smiles as he promises whatever I desire. But first, I must submit. Not only to him, but to two other virulent and terrible men. That is the bargain the three of them made between themselves. But I never agreed to this. I never agreed to forever.Branded Captive: Wren’s Song Book … I never agreed to forever.
Branded Captive: Wren’s Song Book 1 is a dark, sinister Omegaverse Reverse Harem tale for those with twisted tastes and a love for unabashed bad boys. Complete power exchange dominates these pages, as do THREE smoking-hot Alpha antiheroes.

I love Addison’s writing, she has a wicked mind with the ability to write about anti-hero’s in such a way as for you to end up loving them, with heroine’s showing their inner strength and fight, these anti-hero’s end up falling for them and loving them for it.
So this was why I had a difficult time with this one. I read it in one sitting, its quite a short read, but I can’t say as I really enjoyed it, but I read it for Wren – I felt everything for her, her rage, jealously, betrayal and her submission – my heart bled for her.
Caspian, Keiran and Toby – they worked together as a pack, not for Wren’s pleasure, but for the power they had as a three. Individually if left alone for Wren to work her magic on them they might have shown her some affection, but they didn’t, what they did they did for themselves and for a power trip, so this came as a bit of a nasty surprise for me.
Wren just wasn’t strong enough to stand up to them, purely going what she went through for the love of her boys, believing she had their best interest at heart, believing she was saving them through self sacrifice. Her thinking was proved to be wrong and she lost it, as would anyone put through that.
I’m hoping that the next installment of this shows Caspian, Keiran and Toby redeeming themselves, but I’m just not sure how on earth they can go about winning Wren back after what she went through.
Please note that his is not a romance read in any way shape or form, it is classed as a horror for a reason. It is dark and brutal with scenes of total power exchange. It is not an easy read.
Addison introduced us all to a new dark and original part of her Omegaverse with Branded Captive. Wren is an intriguing strong woman in a dire situation only made more dire when she meets the Alphas who rule her part of the world. I enjoyed seeing her need to protect and save her children, and her need to belong and be a real Omega to an Alpha.
Silent Captive is not a story for the faint of heart or those who are bothered by dark themes and dubcon. This is a story that while visceral and exciting in some parts is also a deep study in the psychology of these desperate lives in this desperate world. Omegas and Alphas are not human, and do not think, act, or react as we might. Part of why this world is so engaging is because they are similar to our own but still wholly different in many ways.
Watching Wren try to make good from a bad situation in so many ways is engrossing. Seeing Toby’s darkly mismanaged attempts to be a mate are both horrifying and touching in some way. Part of me roots for the HEA while the rest of me knows that her world should just be one big old world map warning – Here there be monsters.
This book leaves me with mixed feelings. Like all of the author’s books it is definitely well written, the world building is good, and the story is definitely original. I loved Wren’s character, both for her determination and loyalty. The darkness in this one and the dubious consent pushed my limits a bit. I like dark stories, but feel like I need a few rays of brightness to carry me through. Just when things look up a bit for poor Wren, the author plunges her even deeper into the abyss. I definitely plan to continue on with the series. I’m hoping for a little more backstory on the alphas to help understand why they are so freakin unlikeable. I think if I knew a little more about them it might make their treatment of Wren a little easier to handle.
Cain has alway had a talent for world building and even though the locations/scenarios/characters are something you may have never read before, it is so easy to fully invest yourself into her stories. When I started reading this series, I assumed it would be similar to Cain’s other Alpha stories. The males would be controlling and huge jerks, but you fell in love with them anyway. The Alphas in this book were not lovable. Once I let go of my expectations and read the book for what it was, a truly horrible situation where Wren is just doing what she can to survive and save the children she cares about, it made for a very intense reading experience. That is why I continuously come back to Cain’s stories.
If you’re here looking for Omegaverse love…move on, this is not your stop.
Book 2 in the Wren’s Song series is packed full of dub-con ugliness and do what you have to do to survive and insure those you love survive as well.
This tale is building, Wren is strong and resilient and now she’s MAD! I have a feeling things are about to get very real for these three Alphas that are clueless about what happens when it comes to “a woman scorned”.
Silly fools, you messed with her boys…shame.
Not a fan of cliffies…sorry, this is a biggie, but one of my favorite things about Addison Cain, we never have to wait long.
So this is the second book in the series & you’ll need to read the books in order b/c one builds on the other. This book picks up right after the first one & we see our 3 very bad-boy Alpha’s again & I feel like the stories gets darker than the first installment. I don’t think I’d classify this as a love story as the men don’t necessarily see her as more than an omega to be used (although this seems to be prevalent in the society Wren original came from too). I’ve got to love Wren tho b/c she’s staying & enduring all this for the love her “children”…that takes a strong woman either way…I wonder if Caspian will ever be able to appreciate this quality in her.?. I’m kinda hoping that our @$$hole of Alphas eventual are able to redeem themselves in book 3 tho… I love omegaverse stories & I would love to see Wren find some kind of happy… Also, this is kind of a quick read, at just over 100 pages, but still loving the series! 🙂
I love this author. I love her female characters and occasionally I love the male ones too. These males have yet to show me that they are worthy of Wren. I’m holding out hope that the redemption is coming in the next book. This book has everything you expect from Addison Cain. Hot, filthy sex and lots of it. It’s filled with depravity, degradation and despicable Alphas who will do or say anything to get what they want. Wren continues to do what she needs to do to survive this subterranean world of pipe works and just when she thinks she’s got what she wants, the alphas rip her heart out all over again. I couldn’t put it down, had to finish it in one sitting and I don’t regret it. I am anxiously waiting for the 3rd installment, which I’m pretty sure is coming “soon”.
I thought I would be mentally prepared for this next installment of the series…I definitely was not! This story was epic! Well written and kept me at the edge of my seat. Wren is a strong but very vulnerable omega and her story continues in this intense sequel. Her three alphas are quite the characters and definitely not gentle in any sense. You love to hate them. Definitely dark and not a romance so keep an open mind! Addison Cain has created another series that just leaves you wanting more. Well done and highly recommended!
I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in Wren’s story. This book seemed a little darker than the first book. I started hating on some of the Alpha’s more than before but I love how Wren isn’t broken despite everything they have put her through. Caspian and Kieran continued to deny what they wanted most while Toby gave in and I am curious to see what happens next.
If you have not read the first book in the series
If you are looking for a romance
This is book two in Wren’s darkly twisted exceptionally slick not-a-romance story
Silent Captive starts pretty much where branded ended – without any thought to Wren’s feelings our trio of Alpha’s are relocating her to the beautiful room (seriously guys??)
Caspian – in the first book I truly believed he was redeemable, that he cared but in his own way – SOOO NOT the case!! I hope he drowns in his own fluids
Kiernan – I did not like him in book one and I hate him even more in book two – A true Sadist and if possible even more egotistical that Caspian!
Toby- Even I am shocked but if I had to choose one of the three and death was not an option then it would have to be Toby. Despite his unusual kink I truly believe that he loves Wren in his own sickly twisted and distorted version of reality
Wren – I get the mother wolf behavior and her forced sacrifice breaks my heart – I can not say how many times I wanted to jump into the story and wretch her and the boys free
The story – Wren mentions a “true love” I do not remember anyone from book one but the fact she is holding on to that memory leads me to hold out hope that someone is looking for her. She also mentions the loss of previous children for some reason this stood out for me as she mentions it more than once -I know breadcrumbs galore! As for one of her “children” that boy needs more than a knock upside his head!! This scene sent me into all kinds of emotional breakdown. I felt like we are being set up for a very disturbing plot twist – Toby’s background? The missing “true love”? Caspian’s tentative hold on above ground politics? The other Omega?
So many questions!
I need book three now!
This should be a known since this is the second book in the series but in case you have not read book one – just a reminder -this is NOT a romance – This IS a dark horror filled with depraved alphas with no sense of morality – it takes place in the realm of the Omegaverse (It is NOT reality)
THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE!
Once more Addison Cain disturbs us with her Omegaverse. Wren and her 3 alphas are back! Abuse and despair are the special of the day. This book is not a romance, these alphas make Shepherd look like a veritable Prince Charming. These men are twisted and they live to hurt, Wren happens to be their favorite outlet. Redemption doesnt seem to be possible.
If you liked Wren’s Song 1, you will like this book. If you are looking for romance this is not a book for you. The males in this book are disturbed and there are no heroes; the possibilities of a happily ever after seem bleak. Maybe, there is only a heroine; remains to be seen.
Once you get passed the dark and devious characters Addison Cain has imagined up for you. Our heroine, Wren, is really just doing what any other person would do for her adopted children. Or what most authors leave to your imagination, you just get the full details with Ms. Cain. There is some true character building here, but don’t be blinded by all the mud! You’ll see what I am talking about!
Wow wow wow, just when I thought it would be hard to follow Branded Captive, Silent Captive really lived up to higher expectations! It was horrifically delicious, sexy, dark, with very dominating men. Wren endures to keep her boys safe. How long can she last? This little mouse disrupts the alphas, will they tame her? break her? keep her? throw her away. I loved this story, I can’t wait for book 3. but be warned, she has warnings for a reason, if you are easily offended, triggered, light of heart these books are not for you. but if you have a dark wicked side, that needs to be seductively fed this book is for you!
Disturbing and brutal. But if that’s the reason why you are here looking and considering to read this book, then you’ve come to the right place. Addison Cain leaves no stone unturned in this second installment. Obviously, it’s not a romance where the heroine will be saved and live a happily ever after pampered life. If that’s what you want, you are seriously looking at the wrong author and the wrong series. Wren may get a pampered life but it comes at a great cost to her. However, she can’t help her Omega instinct to nurture and love the boys she saved and she will do whatever she can to keep them alive. The only question is, who will save her in the end?
What really amazes me about this author aka the Queen of Omegaverse, is that each of her omegaverse worlds are so unique with their own set of rules. In this reverse harem, there is a pecking order amongst the Alpha trio who claim Wren, but when they work as a unit (pack), they are indomitable. All three Alphas are truly despicable beings, but we are given glimpses of the psyches of each one. I’m totally rooting for Wren to somehow reduce these Alphas to nothing, and rise on top above them. Once again, the writing is flawless and truly captures and conveys the essence of each scene. I just simply love the way Addison Cain writes. The book ends with a twisty cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Addison has taken her dark and dirty story and turned the volume up to 11. Everything you loved about Wren has amplified and everything that has made you dislike the 3 Alphas has magnified. With a story that will draw strong emotions, one becomes anxious to see just how far Wren has to go and if life will get better for her. I didn’t care for the Alpha’s in book one, I don’t care for them in book two, however Addison has made me fall for Wren’s character as she is strong, resilient, and a fighter, something we all hope we can be when faced with a difficult life.
Lying and pain. That seems to be all that Wren gets from her captivity by the three Alphas who have stolen her. I hope that Wren figures out some way to eliminate all three men in the next installment. Her world and all that inhabit it will be in a much better place without them.
Wren is a mute Omega in a dystopian world where humans are either Alphas, Betas or Omegas and Omegas are a commodity to be traded and shared. Wren will do whatever it takes to keep her adopted sons Alec and Mikael safe and moves into a new home where she’s shared between the 3 most powerful Alphas in Dale City, Caspian, his Second Kieran and Third Toby. Wren looks forward to the day when Caspian’s done with her. That’s when Caspian will fill her pockets with credits and send her off with a fortune in water. Wren will be rich enough to see that both Mikael and Alec would have real futures away from the mud. And that one thought fills Wren’s heart with joy. That is, until Wren finds out that Caspian, Kieran, Toby lied to her. Used her. Now Wren must submit to Caspian if she doesn’t want him to hurt her boys. Will Wren ever be able to escape? Note: this story ends on a cliffhanger.
Addison Cain delivers an intense, dark and twisted story that will suck you in. I can’t wait to read Book 3 of the Wren’s Song series.
This is the second book in the series and I definitely recommend reading Book 1 first. Wren has been forced to move to be more available for her Alphas. She will do what she must to save the lives of her boys. There she learns more about each of her Alphas and what they want from her, for her boys she will endure what she must. Will she survive it? Caspian made a deal with Wren; will he keep his end of the bargain? This is a fast-paced intensely erotic dark read, I believe Wren wanted to find the good in this 3 but they always seemed to disappoint. Looking forward to more! I loved it!
4.5 stars
This is Addison Cain’s darkest work yet with only the tiniest glimmers of light that are quickly snuffed out
This book is only for those that enjoy a truly dark read – it’s listed under horror (and not romance) for a reason. The sex, at best, is dubious in consent and at times is almost violent. Wren may be beaten down, she may be degraded, defeated and desperate but still she retains an inner strength. An inner strength that marks her as one of the toughest heroines I’ve read about. The story is pitch black virtually from the first line, in fact it was such a tough first couple of chapters that I did briefly wonder if I would be able to read it. Once started, though, I read it in one sitting, even if it had my emotions all over the place.
Caspian continues to ignore his instincts, which leads to him repeatedly hurting Wren both physically and emotionally. He’s also a prime example of power corrupting the soul. Kieran showed some glimpses of why he is such an arse. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I like him, but I certainly don’t dislike him quite as much as I did at the end of Branded Captive. Toby was my favourite in Book #1 and I still like him best, though his idea of love is rather scary, not to mention dangerous!
There are the very occasional glimpses of a tiny bit of humanity in our three anti-heroes. Whether Ms Cain intends to redeem these characters and allow us to forgive them, I’m not sure. If only they could let go of their ‘pack’ notions and embrace their instincts there could be light at the end of the tunnel. They would still be violent, aggressive and possessive alpha-holes, but loving alpha-holes too.
