Silence may be golden, but it can also be deadly.
Nick O’Flannigan, a freelance photographer on a year-long assignment, is headed for Salt Lake City where there has been a recent series of murders. The Salt Lake Silencer is at large. But Nick has a new determination to stay out of mysteries. His
involvement in a case in Denver nearly cost him his job and his new relationship.
An emergency … relationship.
An emergency dental procedure puts him unwillingly in the role of a potential witness.
Both he and the police think they know who the murderer is. When another victim turns up they realize they could be wrong. Dead wrong.
Will Nick stay on track with his assignment? Or will he once again be propelled into the limelight and risk his job and his relationship? You won’t know the answer until the chilling ending. Check out this, and the rest of the Capital City Murders Series today!

Great story! I loved learning about the Capital Building in Salt Lake City and all the eating establishments and pubs. The murders in this book were just a hair gruesome, I mean come on, cutting the tongue out. That is gross! Just what us murder mystery readers love in a good book, I would recommend “Silenced in Salt Lake” to anyone who loves a good murder mystery.

This is the first book in this series that I’ve read. I didn’t have any problem understanding what was going on except for the trouble mentioned in the previous book. Not a big deal though. It was a quick read, more cozy than hard mystery but very interesting. Like the premise of visiting every capital city in a year for a travel piece. Just know that murders probably won’t be very involved, just slightly weird. I mean, who cuts out tongues? All in all, a good read and I would definitely read the others in the series.
i really enjoyed this short story. i think that it could have been more hands on with the lead character helping to solve the killings but i understand what the author was trying to do and to make the character hands off as much as possible due to promises that he had made. this read as a decent stand alone but there was some things that i was left wondering about that im sure is explained in the books before. overall well wrote and put together.
Another easy reading and enjoyable mystery with good information regarding Salt Lake City. What I like the most in this series is the language – the way the photo scenes are described – you can almost see the place, the sky and so on. The crime was creepy and hopefully I´ll not think about it the next time I´ll go to the dentist!
I received a free copy of this book from the author/StoryOrigin in exchange for an honest review.
Silenced in Salt Lake: Capital City Murders Book #11, my first (short) read from author Troy Lambert, an author I’d looked at a number of times yet never got around to reading. The book caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
As we get to number 11 in this series, the stories have seemed to tone down. This is no the case with this book which manages to capture all the things to like about Nick O”Flannigan while putting Salt Lake City on display and exposing him to another strange series of crimes. His romance with Sandra is also put to the test as he is drawn into another test of his powers of observation. These are not long books, but this one is full of information and entertainment. I received an advanced copy of this book from Hidden Gems.
Silenced in Salt Lake: Capital City Murders Book #11 by Troy Lambert, Stuart Gustafson is an amazing story that I have read. This is book number eleven in this amazing series and I can not wait to see what these authors will write about next. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about muders.

3 Stars Silenced in Salt Lake (Capital Cities Murders Book 11) by Troy Lambert and Stuart Gustafson finds Nick once again falling victim to his lust for helping to solve crimes. This time he innocently goes to see an emergency dentist to replace a lost filling. As news comes to his attention about a string of murders, Nick can’t resist contacting the anonymous tip hotline. The police are able to match his phone number from the tip hotline with his client number found on the records of the dentist he used. The usual difficulties follow including telling his girlfriend about his activities.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author through StoryOrigin. I voluntarily am posting an honest review.
This series makes fascinating reading, as Nick travels around the USA visiting all the state capitals he somehow manages to get himself involved in murder investigations in each city. I am really impressed that the authors manage to come up with original stories for each location.
Apart from the great mysteries I also love that each book gives a lot of history and descriptions of the buildings in the city.
In this book Nick comes up against a killer who cuts out his victims tongues, and once again uses his eye for detail to assist in bringing the culprit to justice.
I received an advance copy of this book from Story Origin, but this honest review has been voluntarily written.
Silenced in Salt Lake is Book 11 in the Capital City Murders series.
This novella brings photographer Nick O’Flannigan to Salt Lake City where he unwittingly gets involved with a serial killer.
I really enjoyed reading this and find the wonderful descriptions of the cities to be a real temptation to follow in Nick’s footsteps visiting all of the cities (not being involved in the murder investigations though). The characters are intelligent and I appreciate that each novella leads us to learn more about Nick and the people in his world, including his new love, Sandra.
The description of the murder was delightfully gruesome and was a great way to start this book. The story flows nicely and kept me engaged from start to finish.
I am looking forward to the next story in this series.
I read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book with no obligation.
The Capital City Murders series just keeps getting better with each installment. Silenced in Salt Lake once again finds photographer Nick O’Flanigan into a murder investigation while trying to keep on track with his year long assignment to photographer all 50 capital buildings. A simple trip to the dentist embroils Nick in the investigation of a possible serial killer. Although these books are very quick reads, the writing and mystery are on par with longer mystery series. Watching the recurring characters develop has been great. I look forward to each installment and highly recommend this series to all mystery lovers.
After an exciting time in Denver Nick arrives in Salt Lake City. On the way there he loses a filling and must see an emergency dentist who has a home office in her basement. When he arrives at his hotel he hears about the Salt Lake City silencer. A killer who cuts out people’s tongues. Nicks interest is immediately piqued.
I love all the ways he seamlessly falls into these cases. I don’t know how the author can keep coming up with uniques ways of murder in every city! I’m really enjoying this series. I’m also learning about western capitals and their history! I’m anxiously waiting to see what Phoenix has in store for Nick. I recommend this book and this series!
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this book. This is book eleven in this series and although there isn’t the complicated plot with lots of suspects to choice from I still find myself enjoying it and have the previous books. It is a quick listen but you still get a sense of the location as the author packs in some sightseeing, as well as solving the murder and a love interest. I like the way he uses his photographs to find clues and then has to pass it on to the police, while trying not to get involved. It will be interesting to see where the author takes up next time on this whistle stop tour of America.
Nick is in Salt Lake City and losing a filling while eating liquorice gets him caught up in another murder investigations. A serial killer is cutting out men’s tongues before killing them with a drug over dose and dumping the body for the police to find. Nicks keen eye spots some important information on the news but it is the information he can provide as a witness that proves to be the most helpful.
I like the narrator and hope he continues to be the authors narrator of choice because he does such a great job with the characters.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Another enthralling adventure for Nick, murder and mystery is never far from his hotel.
I like the way the story is continuing with his working and love life while using his keen eye to pass on tips to the police.
Good characters, well written and fun to listen too.
Joseph Stevenson is a very good narrator, he has a clear voice and brings this story to life.
I received this audiobook for free and wanted to give an honest review.
In this installment of the super fun mystery series that has Nick the photographer visiting all the capital cities in all 50 states, a wonderful murder mystery is once again presented in a well written, albeit, not too long, engaging story, this one taking place in Salt Lake City. This book, as in each of the other books, gives us a little lesson regarding the capital cities/buildings with wonderful descriptions that allow your imagination to be put to work. The best thing about this series is that you don’t have to read them in order, but it would help for you to know the backstory, although as I said, not completely necessary because the character development in each book gives you an adequate explanation (for the most part) as to how the characters arrived at the places they’re at. All of these stories prove a could of important things: The books don’t need to be long to be good and entertaining, and the best-laid plans…well, you know the rest. Don’t overlook this book or series.
I’ve fallen in love with Nick and the information on the capitalis great….i just started this series even though its late in the game but i intend to read the rest….can’t wait!!!
You’re gonna love it! Nick gets himself into trouble again, but comes to some realizations about himself and his feelings. This one was really suspenseful! I always love the history of the cities as well!
Nick’s character changes in this novel as he tries not to become enmeshed in the current murder mystery. He focuses more on his relationship with Sandra. As always, Nick does an excellent job of describing the places he goes and the things he sees so that the reader is treated to a mini-tour of the capital building and the city he is in. This story had less action in it than the previous novelettes, which was disappointing. The information about Salt Lake City at the end of the tale was extremely interesting. This reviewer is looking forward to the next book in this exciting series!
