Divorce a husband, lose a career … grapple with a murder.TV journalist Elizabeth “E.M.” Danniher will tell you she committed two sins — she didn’t stay young, and she made an enemy of a powerful news executive — her ex. She used to break national news. Now her top story as the “Helping Out!” reporter at dinky KWMT-TV in Sherman, Wyoming is getting a defective toaster repaired.Tough, funny and … repaired.
Tough, funny and determined, Elizabeth wrestles with isolation, keeping a professional edge, and an evolving self-image. Is Wyoming — the land of cattle, cowboys, tumbleweeds, and fewer than six people per square mile — her new home or a road to permanent obscurity?
Soon she’s in a battle of wills with ex-football player turned journalist Mike Paycik, who might see her as a handy rung on his career ladder or a romantic partner or both. And there’s the matter of a deputy sheriff—missing or murdered? Elizabeth finds herself investigating at the insistence of a girl who’s set on proving her father’s innocence. Not that enigmatic rancher Thomas Burrell makes investigating easy for an amateur sleuth.
But Elizabeth won’t fade to black without a fight, no matter how final some might want to make her SIGN OFF.

Interesting but not great.
Good local color and characters, believable plot and characters.
I found this book among some of the deals that bookbub sent thru my email. I was just going to read the first chapter, well, I did, and then I couldn’t put it down. I recommend this “who done-it” for those days/evenings, when you want to just kick back and enjoy the serene company of a well written “cozy”.

Very good book can read over and over and never get tired of it
Good read, keeps the reader in suspense until the very end! Loved it, couldn’t put the book down!
I look forward to reading more from this author. While I thought I knew where this book was going, I was fooled in the end.
Very interesting characters, but that’s what you get in small towns. Even though Elizabeth has a “debt” to pay, she finds out this little town out west may be peculiar but could be called home. A fun ride til the end.
Interesting. Main character has had major upsets in her personal and professional lives. Moves away to start over. Finds a lot more that she thought she would, and begins to find herself again, as well.
Love, love, LOVE the entire Dead in Wyoming series and this is the book that starts it all!
I’m generally not a series fan, but this collection is an exception…I wholeheartedly recommend Sign Off!!
Well written, good characters. An enjoyable read.
An interesting approach to a new murder mystery series. Enjoyable!
Soooo good, you won’t believe me if I tell you! Clean, concise narrative and dialogue, complex murder mystery plot, and steady, fast moving action. You really don’t want to miss this one!
I definitely recommend this book, and am looking forward to reading more from this author. I enjoyed following – and trying to figure out – this mystery as it unfolded. Lots of twists and turns. Great character building, and plot dynamics. Yep, go get your copy of this book right now. You won’t be disappointed.
