“Viciously compelling!” – Anna Zaires, NY Times bestselling author Thumb brushing her lips like a kiss, he promised, “In time, you will learn you need not fear me.” Setting her free, Sovereign’s enigmatic expression grew dark. “You will love me. It is inevitable.” Under my touch, her body sings. None but I possessing the secrets that draw out Sigil’s every last sigh. My bride, my cornered prey. … out Sigil’s every last sigh. My bride, my cornered prey.
To possess her, I have hunted my cherished queen across the galaxy, my armada crushing any haven she might seek, driving her into desperation. All so I might stand before her and tell Sigil how deeply she is loved.
There is nowhere else for her to flee, and no soul that can keep her from me.
I hate that I must chain her, I hate that she is afraid. But I know how dangerous the only female of my species can be.

I don’t normally go for stories like this, as it’s not really my cup of tea, but this was so well written that I couldn’t help but like it. This story is incredible! Cain gives you expertly detailed characters that have true depth and history, flaws and all, and a world that is fascinating and just as intense as the story itself.
If the world itself isn’t incredible enough, every character is layered in nuance and detail, creating a depth rarely seen in Erotica in general. The action is intense and hot, violent and bloody, and Cain drags you through it all to leave you breathless and flustered by the end of a chapter. Sigil is fierce and raw, Sovereign’s obsession is equal parts terrifying and exhilarating, and Que’s care for Sigil is enough to break my heart.
Without giving any more of the story away, I would highly suggest anyone who may be on the fence about the content to give this story a try. It is so totally worth it!
Addison does a great job of creating new worlds for readers to play in and this is no exception. Quinn is a likable character who is completely devoted to Que. I liked these two characters together, a lot, however Sovereign is claiming her and is not taking no for an answer. This is a fun read that makes you wonder what is actually going on. There is a tremendous amount of world-building that should set the scene well for book 2
Sigil was bred to be a weapon and to kill the members of Project Cataclysm. She has tried her entire life to stay away from them and wants nothing more than for them to leave her alone. She is perfectly happy living as Quinn with her Que, pretending to be his slave and doing her aerial dancing. But Sovereign and his brothers can’t leave her alone. She is the only female of their race, and they need her.
Addison Cain really likes to torture her characters, and that doesn’t change when it comes to poor Sigil. She has had terrible things happen to her and the second it looks like she has peace, more terrible things happen. This is a very dark story with some cannibalism, among other things, included. If you don’t like dark, don’t read this. OTOH, if you live for the dark side, then this is a don’t miss book.
Update for the new expanded version:
I’ve read the 1st version a number of times. It’s a series that I really enjoy reading, so I was happy to see the expanded version. I can’t point to a particular spot and say, oh, this is where all the new stuff is. It’s more like everything is woven through the book. There are a few chunks that I can recognize as completely new, and there are new chapters. There are some expanded sections that describe what Sigil was doing as she wondered around Pax. I liked that. I just love this book even harder than I did before. I know that the 3rd book in the series is coming soon, and I’m dying to get my hands on that.
Addison Cain’s “Sigil Irdesi” is intriguing, violent, sexy, tragic, thought-provoking, and will leave you swiping left fast enough to make your finger cramp before you’re hitting the one-click for the next book in the series.
“Salvation had not come, only orgasm after orgasm, the man seeming never to tire as he wrung her out.”
Sigll was no ordinary human female. She was fashioned to the exact specifications of Sovereign, the Irdesian Emperor under the Program Cataclysm. As a child, Sigil’s ship was shot down onto an isolated outpost, where she then found herself in one heartwrenching predicament after another. When I started reading I couldn’t put it down I read the book.Addison is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
I recently realized that I starred this book but I hadn’t written a review for it. I do that, I will star rate a book with the intention of writing a review and just completely forget about doing so. So! Here is my review for Sigil by Addison Cain.
I read this book early last year. I was plowing through anything that Addison Cain published (again, starred rated the books, didn’t write reviews). Sigil is a little bit different than Ms. Cain’s other books in that it is a sci-fi/fantasy read. Ms. Cain recently released the book with an updated version of the book with a different cover. Now, I can’t really say what scenes have been updated because it’s been a year since I read Sigil and I can hardly remember what I wore yesterday.
There are some similarities to Ms. Cain’s other books. Sigil has the resident Alpha male lead that is possessive and borderline batshit crazy and wants to possess the female lead at any cost. What is different about this book besides the genre is that our female lead, Sigil (Quinn, more about the name change later) is actually batshit crazy and does totally batshit crazy things. Sigil, from what I could understand from the book, is a genetic humanoid/hybrid human of some sort. She was designed for one purpose and that purpose is to kill soldiers created by Project Cataclysm, but mainly she is designed to take out Project Cataclysm’s main soldier, Sovereign. Sovereign is the now ruler of all actual humans and is a genetically designed humanoid/hybrid perfect killer soldier that was part of Project Cataclysm. Humans had come up with the excellent idea of genetically engineering the perfect soldier and of course, because humans are idiots, the project went south when the soldiers decided to rebel and take over.
After Project Cataclysm failed, Sigil was on her own and she has leaves a trail destruction everywhere she goes. Since she isn’t human and really can’t be killed in human ways she tears through the solar system killing anything (and eating it!) that stood in her way until she meets Que. Que is an alien species that is devoid of all human feelings and was the perfect being to reign in Sigil, later he renames Quinn. So we fast forward to where the story starts with Que and Quinn (Sigil) living a happy master/slave lifestyle on the planet Pax, the alien version of Florida. For decades Sigil has outrun her past but her past catches up with her on Pax in the form of Sovereign and his brothers.
I enjoyed this story and the follow up called Sovereign. It was a dark romance with a sci-fi twist and that was fun. It can be a little hard to follow the politics and what exactly Sigil is and what she means to Sovereign and his brothers. You can’t just gloss over parts of the book and expect to understand everything going on. As I said above, Sigil is just plain o’l batshit crazy. The girl does some insane things to get away from Sovereign. She is a bit all over the place in her thinking and you really don’t know what she will do next. She likes to eat humans, which I guess isn’t technically cannibalism since she isn’t technically human but very inline with Sigil’s many personality quirks. Is this my favorite of all Ms. Cain’s books, no, her Alpha Claim series is really hard to top but Sigil is a fun quick read and I recommend it for anyone who is a fan of Addison Cain. FYI, there are triggers.
A double dose of a bad a** heroine!
As always with Ms Cain’s stories you get a strong heroine, beleaguered by overbearing men with a sinister agenda.
But this tale feels even more insidious because all the men seem so very loving. But I do have a sneaking suspicion all is not well in the Irdesi Empire!
I can’t wait for the story to continue!
Holy Space Balls
Not normally into the sci-if genre but holy space balls…. This book is soooooo damn good. This book just moved Addison Cain into a one click author. I am hooked. Alpha’s- check. Bad ass female-check. Hot steam-CHECK. Fantastic story line- check. Off to read part two…
I just reread the updated version of this book and it was even better than the when I read it the first time. This author does an amazing job at world building and character development that it truly blows my mind. I am in awe of this author and her ability to create a world that is out of this world literally and figuratively.
I read this book about a year ago and really enjoyed it. Addison Cain has put a new version of this book out. It is extended and updated. The story is still the same, but details are added and more background is given, which make for an even better read.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book when I started it. It is unlike anything else, but then again it is a book by Addison Cain.
It is a dark and gritty sci fi novel. Which complex and layered characters and taking place in an eerie and rundown space station which is a world in it’s own.
The story slowly reveals the what and why, but there are still plenty of questions that need to be answered in the next book. .
Quinn literally broke my heart…she was what evil men had made her to be, and I did feel like Que truly did love her in the only way he could, and that he was trying to show that wild, crazed & frightened child how to be better than she was made. I get what Soverign & his men were trying to do…but I’m not sure yet if its b/c of actual love or just desperate need. While Que just wanted Quinn for herself, not b/c of what she could give him. I literally ACHED for Quinn thru the entire book b/c of her hurt…but that last chapter tho just ripped out my heart…
This author’s books are like an obsession when you can’t put them down because you will never know just what is going to happen from chapter to chapter. I will have to buy the rest of the series for sure because it was just that well written and just that good! 🙂
Outstanding Original Series!!! Extremely well written storylines and characters!!!
2nd reading, new extended version is as excellent as the 1st!! Really enjoy Addison Cain’s well written stories, characters and world building!! Cannot wait for 3td installment!!!
Wow – I went into this story blind in the sense both the author and the series were unknowns to me and as I turned the final page my eyes are now wide open and my adrenaline is pumping.
Starting with the world building Cain had me hooked, I could visualize the details, the different species – the environment of Pax felt truly alive – The events were just one WTH after another – definitely will keep you suspended and on edge even as you close the book you will be left in a bit of a fog.
Definitely a dark suspense, some sexual explicit scenes as well as scenes of graphic violence – a hint of romance but it seemed more a jaded sense of the devil you know versus that which you don’t- I can’t really expand on this as I believe it would be a spoiler – I do however foresee a possibly twisted future for Sigil.
Strong intelligent heroine a big plus for me, though I have so many questions about Sigil, the Emperor, and the events of the past. I am looking forward to uncovering all my answers.
I received a complimentary copy.
