“Viciously compelling!” – Anna Zaires, NY Times bestselling author Thumb brushing her lips like a kiss, he promised, “In time, you will learn you need not fear me.” Setting her free, Sovereign’s enigmatic expression grew dark. “You will love me. It is inevitable.” Under my touch, her body sings. None but I possessing the secrets that draw out Sigil’s every last sigh. My bride, my cornered prey. … out Sigil’s every last sigh. My bride, my cornered prey.
To possess her, I have hunted my cherished queen across the galaxy, my armada crushing any haven she might seek, driving her into desperation. All so I might stand before her and tell Sigil how deeply she is loved.

I hate that I must chain her, I hate that she is afraid. But I know how dangerous the only female of my species can be.

If your into reading dark romance, here’s another glimpse into the genre. Addison Cain has done it again with this adventure into space. Sigil, better known as Quinn – to her friends, is a runaway bride per say, who has finally been found by her tenacious lover / maker / emperor. Call Sovereign what you will but he’s one persistent SOB !! But Quinn is only wanting two things and he’s not one of them. This first installment of The Irdesi Empire will hold you enthralled all the way thru. This is one that’s definately worth your time (and maybe a few tears).
Absolutely fantastic new world that I can’t wait to read more of!
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Sigil written by Addison Cain and voluntarily reviewed this book. This is the first installment of the Irdesi Empire, and it is a whole new & fantastic world out there.
Born to a singular purpose, Sigll was no ordinary human female. She was fashioned to the exact specifications of Sovereign, the Irdesian Emperor under the Program Cataclysm for his own purposes. As a child, Sigil’s ship was shot down onto an isolated outpost, where she then found herself in one heartwrenching predicament after another. She was fortunately saved by an Axirlan named Que, who took her in and became her mentor, protector, and sexual partner for many, many years while she hid herself from Sovereign on Pax, reinventing herself as “Quinn,” a slave dancer. Until Sigil was spotted and recognized, immediately prompting Sovereign himself to travel to Pax to fetch her. However, Drinta, the ruler of Pax is very cunning, and she means to stand in the way of their reunion to extract all she can from these newest influential visitors. But Sigil is not ready to give up her life on Pax for this man, emperor or not.
This author has created a story with a uniquely complex hierarchy of well-developed characters that leaves you wanting more, which thankfully will continue in Book 2! I am enthralled with the storytelling and the characters, especially Sigil, who was born with a strong assassin’s mind and strength as well as other skills, but with a heart that loves deeply. As the events unfolded, the story was also intriguing with the characters’ chess-like stategies, which served to further enrich the telling.
This story is not for the faint of heart. It is a tangled web of deception and intrigue. You can’t help but be on the edge of your seat while reading this story. As always Addison Cain has created a universe that you want to know more about, and her characters are fascinating. Sigil is so confused and conflicted and Sovereign is sexy but so frustrating. Their chemistry is off the chain and gives a whole new meaning to a love hate relationship. Such a great read and looking forward to the next book!
The darkest book I’ve ever read. I didn’t think I would enjoy this book, but like Mr. Darcy falling in love with Elizabeth Bennett, I do even againts my better judgement. The characters are strong, and you can’t help but see where they’re coming from and their thought processes. Even the characters you want to hate, you just can’t.
Addison Cain did it again, wonderfully well written dark romance. Quinns character was amazing, her emotions and struggles while trying to fight back and not giving up in her Que and little boy she was trying to save. She has been though so much loved everything she did to the pax and herself to try and escape from soverign. There are triggers and sexual non consents but it perfectly flowed with the story line and gave much detail for the reader to understand exactly what’s going on and what’s needed for the characters. Can’t wait to start book two.
Sigil was a different type of story that was full of ideas that I haven’t really read before or was new to reading. Personally I’m a big person on adult women and not young girls or newly 18 girls, Sigil is a woman, while her time is different than normal time she’s still an adult woman and I really enjoyed that. She’s a strong woman both emotionally and physically and shes psychotic! The main lead is dripping alpha and makes me want to bring him home for myself! The story does contain non con but its oh so sexy and it also contains one woman and more than one man! I think if you like non con and adult women and dark romances you’ll love this series!
This book was burning up the pages! I absolutely loved Quinn she’s a serious bada**! I absolutely cannot wait to read book two and see what happens between her and the sovereign!
The book was very well written and descriptive. it was easy to picture the worlds the author describes. I loved Quinn/Sigil and thought she was bada$$ even though she was broken.
UPDATE: This book has been re-released with new covers, which I think look awesome, and has been extended. I have also just done a re-read and thoroughly enjoyed this if not more on my second time of reading, it really is a fantastic read with brilliantly written characters. I really felt for Sigil and everything she had been through, having been reprogrammed to hate Sovereign only to learn she was actually made to be his Consort!! Highly recommended reading!!

So after reading the Alpha’s Claim series, I still had this series unread on my Kindle, so stayed with the author to see how different this would be compared with the one I had just read.
Again this is very much a mix of genres – sci fi / dystopian / horror / erotica, but the mix is good and works well with the story.
There’s a lot to take in at first, as with every new world building at the start, but its not difficult to get to grips with.
Sigil aka Quinn is a real badass and I loved her!! Not one to be messed with, with the skills to kill you quicker than you could blink and mental psionics that could blow things apart – do not get in her way!!! But she loved her companion Que, her rock, the one she could rely on no matter what. And she had a soft spot for kids, many of which she saved if she could.
For centuries she has avoided Sovereign and his brothers, or killed any that got in her way. As far as she is concerned that is her job in life, she has been raised to kill Sovereign, and will do so with pleasure if she gets the chance.
But to Sovereign and his brothers, she is the last female of the species and was designed to be with him, but her training/programming has been rewritten to be his enemy, which he must overcome if he has any chance of being with her.
Lots of great characters in this one, with lots going on!! I was hooked in this vivid world within a few pages. But be warned there are hot and sexy scenes in here, but couple that with lots of gore, violence and even cannibalism!! If you’re not good with dark reads, this probably won’t suit you.
But I thoroughly enjoyed it, straight on to book 2 for me now!
Addison Cain has updated her amazing sci-fi novel. I purchased this book back in 2016 and couldn’t believe that there was any way to improve it. Ms. Cain has outdone herself with this new iteration. You won’t be disappointed.
I felt a little lost in the beginning, like I had started reading a book fifty pages in. Slowly, piece by piece the author builds the backstory for each character. I quickly realized what I thought was going to be a simple alien story was much, much more. Sigil was such a complex character, and despite, or maybe because of, her psychotic characteristics, she was a very likable character. Sovereign still remains a bit of a mystery, but I look forward to finding out more about him in future books. Although this one stopped at a good point, it definitely left me wanting more.
I received a copy of this book from the author.
I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
This is the second series of books that I am reading from this author. At first I was kind of confused because from Quinn’s (Sigil) point of view, the Empire is her enemy and they are hunting her because of what she is capable of doing to them if given the chance to do so. Therefore she must do all that she can to stay hidden away from them.
I like that Quinn/Sigil isn’t naive or timid at all. She’s cunning and fierce when she needs to be. She’s been through a lot in her life and she struggles to survive the best way she can. She can fit right in with the shady criminals and murderers in the galaxy. The Empire, on the other hand, is a surprise as well. They aren’t what we think Quinn/Sigil believes them to be.
I understand that this kind of book isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you do like sci-fi romances with a twist, in that this is a reverse harem, you will enjoy this first book in this series. I like that it just doesn’t jump right in and gives you all these characters that you will have to figure out. I am intrigue with the characters and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to find out what happens.
Read via KU.
This was quite hard going for me, not because of the elements of the cannibalisation, gore, and non-con sexual content. No, it was the thought process of Quinn ( with her POV in the story my head was all over the place, felt a lot disconnected). There are a lot of other POV’s in this, so you get a good rounding view of what is going on in the space byway known as Pax.
There is still a lot i don’t understand, most especially what happened in the past with Sigil and the other men of her kind, humankind ( does it still exist), the differing points of view of her condition ( what is her condition) etc, as you can see although i liked it, it was enough to confuse me and leave me wanting so not a five star as it felt half-finished ( yes i know series cliffhanger etc)
This was a completely unique story from anything I’ve read before. Similar to her other works, it is dark and leaves off on a cliff hanger with me wanting to read more. It didn’t have as much erotica as her other series, Alpha’s Claim, which to me was sad and why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 lol. I’m hoping to see more in the next installment. I also think this world has more going on than the other series which requires a little more attention to the details. Excited to see where this series goes!
I adore Addison Cain. She has yet to write a book that didn’t immediately drag me in. This world is so dark, and I love it. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you adore a-holey alphas and strong female, I highly recommend-if you’re a fan of DARK, she really is the best.
Pleasure slave Quinn and her master Que live on Pax Station, where he sells scrap metal and she dances to supplement his income. But this is all just a cover for Quinn, who’s been on the run from the Irdesian Empire for almost a century. Irdesian Emperor Sovereign will never give up until he finds Quinn and it’s too late when Quinn realizes that the pursuit is over. Will Quinn be able to escape or will she submit to Sovereign?
Addison Cain delivers an intriguing, action-packed, and suspenseful story full of twists and turns that will captivate you
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
*extended Version*
Its been a while I’ve read a book with such plot and imagination. Far from the simple books I’ve been reading, it took me a couple pages to understand the setting but this book totally blew me away. I was totally fixated on this book where I couldn’t put it down and itching to read the second book. Not a thing was cliche nor predictable. This was the first book I’ve read from this author and so far, I have absolutely loved everything she has written (that ive read, anyways). I had the honors of reading it a second time as Addison Cain made some additions to the original book and I was just as in love and in wonder as the first time I read this book. heart strings tugged me and ugh… its just beautifully written
this is a must read
OK, not gonna lie, I’m a huge Addison Cain fan, huge, and I love the way she masters her craft, so I make it my mission to read all of her books. So, while I await the next release in her Omegaverse world I’ve decided to read the Irdesi Empire series. Sigil is book 1 and I’ll be honest, sci-fi isn’t my first choice, but lately I’ve been so dissatisfied with the same old storylines that I’ve broadened my horizons, so to speak.
I read the warnings and some of the reviews and words like, disturbing and brutal kept showing up, and I thought, really?? How bad can it be? I mean, I’ve read her Alpha series and it was dark, so I’m in. Well, I’m here to tell you, disturbing might be too delicate a word to describe Sigil. I confess that parts of this story gave me bone deep shivers that almost made me set this aside and not finish.
I don’t do spoiler reviews, so that’s all you get, except to say, I did set it aside and went about my daily chores, made dinner, and in my silence I started to think about the story, and Sigil, and all she had to endure, and some of the pieces of the message that the author was trying to deliver became clear. I started to appreciate the brilliance of the story’s visual stimulation and contemplated the tragic misconceptions that were driving our heroine’s very existence.
So I finished. Was it brutal? Yes. Was it disturbing? Absolutely. But once I got past all the ‘yuck’, the story was captivating and original, and I liked it. The yuck factor makes it a 4 star read for me and I will warn you to be mindful and heed the warnings, but if you can wade into the story with an open mind, like me, you’ll be ready for more.
I really liked this fast-paced, dark and drama filled read. The characters have lots of emotion and the story really grabs you from beginning to end. I am looking forward to finding out what happens next in the series. A good read.
A girl created and destined as a mate to her species but brainwashed to hate those that she was meant to love. This is a fascinating story with a very creative storyline and so many twists. A story of betrayal, survival and heartbreak Quinn is surrounded with violence, forced to accept her fate after years of running. Quinn’s journey is intense and tragic but must be taken to find her true place in life. A definite must read for any sci-fi fan.
