Darkness never dies. Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land, all while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. But she can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long. The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries … the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.
Siege and Storm is the second book in The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. This title has Common Core connections.

This book was way better than the second one and here is where I get to meet one of my favorite characters ever! I really love when the middle book doesn’t feel like a bridge book! Perfect!
Now that I sit back and write the review and must decide on a rating and what to say I realize how much of a love- hate relationship I had with this book.
I really, really love the Grishaverse that Bardugo created in this and Six of Crows.
This book while so good and a lot of happened also seemed not much happened, or not much new,. But yet …
Our heroine is a little wiser, a little less gullible than she was in the first book. She’s seeing things more as they really are in her kingdom. The one thing we still don’t know is why she and her friend were orphaned as children. And what their secrets are. Fun fantasy to read and immerse yourself in.
I enjoyed this second installment and am looking forward to the third. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and turning pages like crazy! And now I’m off to grab book 3.
First of all, is it so wrong that I still love the Darkling and that he’s my favourite character in the book?
So I had some expectations for this book but oh gosh! the whole book was such a disappointment. And that’s so bad because I really wanted it to be good! I didn’t hate it though but it was just meh. I give it 3 stars (and I’m being …
The first half of Siege and Storm was slow-going, particularly before we meet Nikolai. Alina is still annoying and whiny throughout the book. However, now the plot has higher stakes, involving political intrigue and an epic battle, and I am for it.
That being said, I still cannot stand the romance. Before, I said I don’t get why Mal receives so …
4.5 this one was as action packed and captivating as Shadow and Bone but I still really enjoyed. Mal wasn’t my favorite in this book. But I loved seeing the progression and growth in Alina. I definitely didn’t expect a few things but it was wonderful. It gave me serious Throne of Glass vibes!
Updated review (5/12): still really enjoyed this …
I read book 1 before the show came out, 3 stars. I was even contemplating finishing the series at that point. Netflix show came out….Loved it (even though I have my issues with it and I’m aware the tv series is way off from the original book trilogy). Decided will sometimes I’m a sucker for finishing true trilogy arcs, this one dragged! Like …
Again, LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. The second book is a wonderful continuation of Alina and Mal story and adventure.
I enjoyed this book so much more than the first one. I liked the characters and plot a lot more.
I loved the pacing in the beginning. It felt like everything was moving at just the right speed. Then the middle got a little slow at times but then the end was just full speed ahead. Full anxiety all the way to the end.

Siege and Storm is the second book to Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone Trilogy. This book is also apart of the Grishaverse series written by Leigh Bardugo. If you are thinking about reading the Grishaverse series, I would recommend reading the Shadow and Bone Trilogy first and then the Six of Crows Duology. I couldn’t wait to dive into the …
Great second book in the series! On to book three…
3.5/5
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did. I typically don’t like the sequel as much as the first book and while this still applies, I enjoyed Siege and Storm much more than I thought I would.
While the book was never bad, I did feel like the plot was moving kind of slowly, hence why I rated it 3.5/5 stars. That …
Leigh Bardugo creates a world so vivid, haunting and visceral, you’d swear you could step right into the pages yourself. If you love well-written fantasy with a strong female lead, you’ll love this series by Bardugo! Worth every second of your time!

Can I just say how glad I am that I did continue with this book even though the first one felt a bit flat for me. This book just was way better in my opinion. I felt there was more …
This is the best series I read so far this year. I got lost between the pages.
The characters are amazing, I was drawn to them. Even The Darkling took a piece of my heart.
I loved Alina and her growth as the books progressed was amazing. She came into herself. She’s not perfect but has drive and hope. The weight of loss and how she fights to …
I loved this book and the entire series. So many new characters are introduced including my favorite. Every series has that one book your just not in love with, but I feel like I was hooked the entire time. I think this is a wonderful book with such fascinating characters.
Just like it
I received this book as a gift, and decided to read it despite not having read book 1 (Shadow and Bone). I only managed a few pages before I realized I needed to read book 1 first. This is not a stand-alone book! For a series that is intended to be a series, I appreciate that the author didn’t spend a lot of time re-hashing book 1 to fill in the …
The second book in this series did not disappoint. I love all of these characters and the story is so well thought out. #TeamDarkling
