Oceanic Dreams 7: Shut Up and Dance With Me
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the Texas based novella Shut Up and Dance With Me: Oceanic Dreams book 7 by Monique McDonell and this review was given freely.
A sweet romance that is easy flowing with a touch of humor,a fair amount of angst and distrust, and a couple with a strong attraction.
Relationship synic Dallas department store shoe buyer Sandy joins her best friend Vivi when Vivi remarries her once cheating ex Lance on a Caribbean singles cruise but finds her determination to remain single challenged by the persistent and thoughtful best man, Texas Italian restaurant chain owner Danny Moretti .
This was a cute quick read. I would have liked a better resolution between Lance and Sandy but it was just a small pet peeve.
I totally enjoyed this book it has well developed and engaging characters and the storyline flowed smoothly from start to finish.

Sandy’s friends are getting re-married, and unlike the last wedding, this one is very small and low-key – on a cruise ship. She’s not looking for anything in the love department – her family history has left her jaded about happily ever after. Danny is the best man, a restaurant owner, and one of the most eligible bachelors in Texas. They agree to play nice for the sake of their friends, and he proceeds to try to win her over – he wants a forever, and thinks it could be with her. Despite her best attempts to avoid him, he manages to spend time with her all week long. I really enjoyed this book – can be read in several hours. The characters were obviously meant for each other (Sandy’s attempts notwithstanding). It was a cute, clean story that moved along and kept my interest. I read it because it was part of this series, but it’s my first read from this author (won’t be the last, either!).

This was fun from the get go and had me wishing I had a fruity cocktail while I was reading it! Sandy and Danny chose sides after their friends marriage felt apart but now their friends are going for round 2 of marriage by getting married on a singles cruise yup that’s right during a singles cruise! While Sandy tries to stay away from the Italian Stallion aka Danny she does a cray job of it and you can feel her will power failing as the story goes on. There are plenty of laughs, some terribly cheesy pick up lines and plenty of love to go around even though they aren’t on the love boat!!!

Danny and Sandy have felt an attraction for each since they first met, but one or both of them were dating someone else. Their friends Lance and Vivi are getting remarried onboard a singles cruise ship. That seems an odd one to choose unless Lance wants to cheat again? I enjoyed reading about the excursions and events they participated in. The crazy ferret from previous books in this series makes an appearance and causes havoc. Danny and Sandy spend a lot of time dancing, hence the book title. There was plenty of humor and sexy moments in this romantic comedy.
Great addition to the series. Enjoyed it thoroughly
Shut up and Dance With Me – I always enjoy reading the lighthearted and sweet stories by Ms. McDonell. I like that the main characters are from Texas, and they are not messed up with stereotypes. The storylines are interesting and humorous and fast paced.
The journey for the two main characters is great with plenty of realistic behavior and dialog, and the reader can feel the attraction and love between these two old friends given a second chance. This is all thanks to the best friends of both that broke their friendship apart in the first place.
I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4*
A fun, heartwarming second chance at love with intrigue series.
Any Way You Slice It #1 – Wish I could have read these books in order, but it doesn’t matter. A well thought out romance with realistic dialog and characters and an interesting, entertaining plot. Any more would be spoilers. This series is more substantial than a lot of this genre.
Any Way You Fight It #3 – Second chance at love. Another well written, funny romance with interesting characters and an entertaining plot. I can’t say more or it would be spoilers. I enjoyed reading this series.
Any Way You Want It #5 – If you enjoy S. Claflin and T. Pedersen, you’ll love McDonell, too! It’s the first chapter and you’re already laughing and rootin’ for the good guys. A well written, fun-filled romance, this time with Chloe and Moose. My second story by this author and now I want to read them all. Moose is my favorite male character.
Any Way You Build It #6 – A well-written, fun, exciting, clean romance. I had to finish it in two sittings; work, a four-letter word, interrupted me. It was complete, but I believe there’s more to the story. This is the first story I’ve read by this author, but I’ve got another one ready to go from Amazon. I asked the author if I could review this book.
Any Way You Spin It #7 – Another second chance. Another well written, heartwarming romance with interesting characters and a realistic plot. None of these books are repeats, but interesting, fun books on their own, just a piece of a larger picture.
Any Way You Like It #8 – Another heartwarming, humorous, intriguing second chance romance in one of my favorite places with some of my favorite characters. This complete series is well written with well developed characters with realistic dialog and no stupid formulas, along with interesting and intriguing storylines. While complete with humor and bad guys, these books are substantial pieces, not fluffy junk. This is my second favorite, which is actually hard to decide on since all the books are favorites! There’s also a preview of the book, Something of a Spark.
I loved Shut up and Dance With Me. It is a fun, flirty romance with great characters. I love the fun, romantic banter between Sandy and Danny. I love the cruise ship setting. It makes for a fun environment with interesting excursions and includes a mishap with a ferret. The romance is a sweet build up as they repair their relationship and discover their strong feelings for each other. This a a wonderful book and it was impossible to put down. I highly recommend this book!

Sandy is going on a cruise to be maid of honour for her best friend and Danny is the best man. Sandy is against the marriage as it is the same man her friend married and divorced for cheating. Danny feels his best friend has learned his lesson and the marriage will work. Danny and Sandy have chemistry but bad timing in the past but luckily for the first time they are both single. Danny is determined to get the right girl but can Sandy let go of the past.
This is a charming romantic comedy that leaves you feeling uplifted. The characters are amazing, their personalities just jump off the page. You can’t help but hope they can put their differences aside and find happiness. This is a well written story that is both easy to read and hard to put down. The dialogue is full of romantic banter and the narrative expertly describes the awkwardness the couple feel and the funny situations that occur. It is an emotional rollercoaster for Sandy as she has a lot to deal with. If you like cozy romantic comedies that warm your hear, look no further.

Will Sandy give into the chemistry between her and Danny?
Shut Up and Dance With Me by Monique McDonell is a brilliant romance between friends who are thrown together again to witness their besties second wedding. This story is so much more, and it has such a fabulous ending.
Sandy
Sandy is our female lead. She is an only on the Oceanic Aphrodite for her best friend’s wedding, and that is it. Ok, well some relaxation and sun won’t hurt. But first the wedding and then she can do what she wants.
I like Sandy, and she is one of those perfectly broken characters. Sandy’s parents were divorced after cheating on each other. They were rich, and Sandy was passed from nanny to nanny. So, she doesn’t believe in love or marriage. But heck a girl can dream.
Since being against love is her worst side, Sandy has many good qualities. She is a hard worker, a loyal friend to Vivi, has excellent fashion sense and she can pull off the whole mermaid look.
Danny
Danny runs his family’s chain of restaurants. He is from a large Italian family and prefers the ordinary real world to the upper-class lifestyle. He is also on this cruise for his best friend, Lance. But Danny has a few things planned for Sandy.
Danny has many outstanding qualities from his great looks, sense of humor, dance skills, ability to go with the flow, and he is a planner. Don’t you love a man who plans out the day with reservations and such? I do. The only thing that I found I had a hard time with was his acceptance of his friend’s cheating in the past. However, perhaps he saw what actually happened?
Love Story
I loved this story, the love, romance, and the whole Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta tie in with Grease was well written. I also like the way that Danny romances Sandy on the ship. His plans were so well thought out. Oh and the way Danny seemed hurt that Sandy didn’t invite him to share a massage. But he did go to the cooking class with her. So sweet!
“I’ve noticed that when we dance, everything seems to right itself, So how about whenever you get mad at me, we dance it out? We can dance in the kitchen, in the living room, at my restaurants, wherever you like. I don’t care as long as you let me keep you as close as humanly possible?’ He brushes his body against mine.
5 Stars for Shut Up and Dance With Me by Monique McDonell

When Sandy and Danny met there was chemistry, but Sandy had a boyfriend, and they never seemed to be single together, so they remained friends until their best friends divorced. The best friends are now remarrying. Sandy and Danny are the wedding party on a cruise, and both are single. Will they finally get together?
This is book 7 of the Oceanic Dreams series. A fun beach read!
Quick summer read. You will love Sandy because she has no filter. All her emotions are on display. That is the one thing that Danny really loves about her. How the two of them are not going to say anything to Lance and Vivi, who decided to try marriage again. We are on the Aphrodite cruise ship, a boat that boasts that people fall in love and get married. The characters are just a lot of fun!
