Tortured souls longing for more in this lonely world.
Show Me the Way is a second chance…third….fourth chance romance. It seems like Rex Gunner has no room for anything in his busy life. Not a girlfriend, not a friend with benefits, and certainly not the smoking hot sinful new neighbor. His intense attraction has him being an even bigger jerk to her.
Rynna has come back for a new start on an old dream. But even this start leaves her questioning the dream. Only loyalty to her grandmother will keep her here. I mean the scenery is nice. The neighbor is hot. She has new friends too but the ghosts that haunt and taunt have her shaking with self doubt.
I loved second chance romances. I love when the parties fight their attraction and connection. Show Me the Way has both those and more. It has a beautiful heart stealing little girl, an overprotective fearful father, and best friends who would do anything for you. It’s a great mix and a sweet book.

The phenomenally talented A.L. Jackson once again delivers an emotionally charged page-turner that completely wrecked me!
Her unique writing style and remarkable ability at story telling is above reproach. A flawless story filled with damaged and imperfect characters, Show Me the Way captivates readers with intensity, longing, anguish, and an unspoken motivation that defies all odds.
I have not been able to think of anything else since I’ve finished this book. The story is raw. It’s unwavering. And it’s profoundly deep, exuding a bottomless well of emotions. Completely intoxicating, this book is beyond comparison, and absolutely one of the bests books I’ve ever read!
Show Me the Way has set the bar to an astounding, insurmountable level in the Fight for Me series. If the upcoming books in this new series are anywhere close to how ridiculously stunning Show Me the Way is, then the series will for sure be an out-of-this-world experience readers will never forget.
5+++ Stars!
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson brings us a sexy standalone novel in her brand new Fight For Me series. Show Me The Way brings together two broken souls and forces them to see that love does not always have to hurt.
Rex Gunner owns a successful construction company in Gingham Lakes. While his business may be thriving his love life is another matter. Rex has been burned one time too many. When his wife leaves and he is left raising his daughter Frankie alone, that is the final blow for him. He doesn’t need anyone in his life except Frankie; at least that’s what he thinks. Trust does not come easy for him after everything he has been through, but his new neighbor make him want to try.
“You changed everything the day you walked into my life. You are my heart’s second chance.”
Rynna Dayne flew out of town at seventeen and vowed never to return. When her grandmother passes away and leaves Rynna the deed to the diner she has always loved, she moves back home. She is determined to leave the past in the past and move on. Her new neighbor and his little girl manage to shove their way into her heart almost instantaneously. Will these two take a second chance on love? Or when push comes to shove will they run and hide?
“I told you I’m not afraid. Why are you? All I’m asking is that you take a chance on me. Life’s not worth living without taking them.”
Rex is a grouchy jerk! He thinks that he can live life without any emotional connection to anyone besides his daughter. I understand where he is coming from, I’ve been there. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and open your heart back up. I love when he and Rynna realize that they can have the love they did not think possible.
“All moments matter. We just rarely know how important they are until the chance to act on them has already passed.”
Rynna is sweet and her connection with Frankie is what really solidified her as a great character for me. Sometimes you don’t get that in a book. The children are too often inconsequential characters, when they should be just as relevant as the hero and heroine.
This is my first time reading A.L. Jackson’s work, and trust me when I say that I am going back to devoured the others. Her writing is impeccable. The way she brings to life damaged, imperfect characters through such lyrical writing is beautiful and heartbreaking in equal measure. This book consumed me. I was addicted from the start, there was no way anyone could pry me away from this book. I am giving this FIVE well-deserved stars.
I absolutely LOVE this book! The prologue had me hooked, because I immediately wanted to know who, how and why Rynna was so distraught that she left for a decade. I also liked the friendship between Rynna and Macy, you can tell they genuinely care about each other and that obviously Rynna trusts Macy with the knowledge about what caused her to leave Gingham Falls. Now Rex on the other hand? It’s clear that his little peanut Frankie is the light of his life, but I wasn’t exactly impressed with his treatment of Rynna when they first met. Or hell, for a few chapters after that; I get why he’s angry, but to treat every woman like crap just ain’t cool. But that’s what makes for an interesting and engaging story, because we get to see his behavioral changes the more he’s around Rynna.
Both Rynna and Rex are two people who’ve been broken by those around them and have closed themselves off to idea of something more, but haven’t we all learned by now to never say never? They’ll experience emotional upheavals and having to face the past before they can move forward, and this story is written in such a way that, while their journey can be painful at times, you don’t mind being witness to the beauty that comes after the darkness.
This book was so heartbreaking, sad, and beautiful. I felt so sad that Rynna Dayne missed all those years without her grandmother. Show Me The Way was about a young girl being bullied, fat shamed, and harassed to the point Rynna had to leave the one person she trusted. She comes back home after her grandmother passed away and meets the beautiful soulful single dad Rex Gunner and his lovely and precocious daughter Frankie Leigh. They turn toward each other out of pain and loneliness. It started out slowly but after the initial meeting between the couple, the book was hard to put down. I needed to know what caused Rynna to leave so suddenly and why Rex was in such pain and overprotected of his daughter. Over all it was a very interesting book. A.L. Jackson has done it again. I can’t wait until the next book in the fight for me series.
